My OU Team (I am bad at Pokemon)

Hi all, I've been in the competitive scene for about two months and nothing's really worked out so far. So here's my newest team. Tell me how you think it would fare.

Warning: LONG. I go into very specific detail, so continue at your own risk.

Pokemon 1: Skarmory
Item: Shed Shell
Nature: Impish
EVs: 252 HP/ 252 Def/ 4 Sp. Def
Ability: Sturdy

Spikes
Whirlwind
Brave Bird
Roost

This is Skarmory. I chose Skarmory because it has excellent typing and a monstrous defense stat. On top of that, it can set up spikes and phaze, and has access to instant recovery with roost. Roost also serves to rid the big metal bird of it's weakness to electric for one turn. Roost also helps it resist ice and rock attacks. The downside is that someone may predict the Roost and use a fighting or ground type move, both of which are common. Fortunately, most fighting and ground moves are physical, and Skarmory (especially this one) has massive physical defense. Brave Bird is there as an attacking move, in case I: A) Get taunted or B) Have a weakened opponent I might as well finish off. Brave Bird is strong, but won't do a whole lot usually because of Skarmory's extremely modest Attack Stat. Even then, it can 2HKO most fighting types. Shed Shell is there instead of leftovers because of Magnezone, who I don't want setting up (or KO'ing) on Skarmory. Skarmory is weak to special attackers, particularly fire types, so I have what I feel is a good teammate for Skarmory.

Pokemon 2: Conkeldurr
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 120 HP/ 252 Atk/ 136 Sp. Def
Ability: Guts

Bulk Up
Drain Punch
Mach Punch
Payback

Conkeldurr is my absolute favorite Pokemon to use in BW OU. Out of all the Pokemon I've used, this one has never disappointed. The EV spread helps Conkeldurr hit as hard as possible while also serving towards his natural bulk. The EVs also help make up for his somewhat lacking special defense. Conkeldurr is arguably the best user of Bulk Up in the entire game, as it bolsters his already impressive defense and attack stats. So not only does it increase his bulk, it makes him even more deadlier. Drain Punch is the main attacking move and, optimally, the one you want to use consistently. It does great damage to anything that doesn't resist it, and also helps Conk recover lost HP. Mach Punch is great, as it helps mitigate Conkeldurr's poor speed. Mach Punch helps Conkeldurr check some of the many steel types that run rampant in the metagame, most notably Excadrill. With a Bulk Up and/or Guts boost, Excadrill is OHKO'd by Mach Punch, giving Conkeldurr another useful niche as an effective Excadrill counter. I chose Payback over Stone Edge, seeing as Stealth Rock helps with flying types, and Stone Edge has shaky accuracy and just doesn't take care of Reuniclus well enough. Also, since Conkeldurr is slow, Payback will usually hit hard. Leftovers is there to add to Conkeldurr's naturaly bulk. I chose Guts as my ability, as it is invaluable on Conkeldurr. Conkeldurr with a Guts boost and a Bulk Up reaches over 900 attack. Combine this with strong priority and great STAB, you have a very scary Pokemon on your hands.

Pokemon 3: Reuniclus
Item: Life Orb
Nature: Modest
EVs: 252 HP/ 252 Sp. Atk/ 4 Spe
Ability: Magic Guard (duh)

Trick Room
Psychic
Focus Blast
Shadow Ball

Reuniclus is another solid Pokemon to use in 5th gen OU. I have given him 252 EVs in HP, to take advantage of his fantastic bulk. The 252 Sp. Atk. EVs are a no brainer, as with a modest nature, Reuniclus reaches a very threatening 383 Sp. Atk stat. The 4 speed EVs may seem unorthodox, but let me explain. It helps me out speed other Reuniclus (at least, outside of TR). Trick Room makes Reuniclus absurdly deadly, as its pitiful base 30 speed is used to Reuniclus' advantage. Notable Pokemon that outspeed Reuniclus in Trick Room include Ferrothorn and...that's about it. Luckily, Ferrothorn can't do a whole lot to Reuniclus, and is easily countered by two other members of my team. Psychic is for the obligatory STAB, and hits most things that don't resist it for massive damage. Focus Blast decimates Tyranitar and other various dark types seen throughout the metagame. Shadow Ball is for ghost types and of course, other Psychic types. Magic Guard is really what makes Reuniclus the powerhouse it is today. No entry hazard damage, no status/leech seed damage, no getting toxic stalled. To compliment this, I've given Reuniclus a Life Orb. Magic Guard protects the cute jelly blob from Life Orb recoil, which would be very detrimental to his bulk. In essence, it acts as a free 30% boost to damage output, which, for me at least, is just too good to pass up.

Pokemon 4: Heatran
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Modest
EVs: 252 HP/ 4 Sp. Atk/ 252 Sp. Def

Stealth Rock
Lava Plume
Toxic
Earth Power

On this team, Heatran serves a role as a specially defensive tank, one which he performs quite well. With 2 immunities and a slew of resistances, Heatran makes for a good tank. The nature helps it deal very good damage, but without detracting from Heatran's bulk. The EVs are very straightforward, make Heatran take as much Special damage as possible, while giving him a little bit of power. Stealth Rock helps him support his team very well. He helps Conkeldurr with flying types and helps Skarmory by complimenting Spikes with Stealth Rock. I chose Lava Plume over Fire Blast, as the 30% burn rate can help Heatran ruin physical attackers that would ruin his teammates, and himself. Toxic helps to deal more residual damage, and puts my opponent on a very straining timer. Earth Power is for opposing rock types and opposing Heatran. Air Balloon Heatran is the bane of this set, as it absorbs Lava Plume, is immune to Toxic, and avoids Earth Power. Luckily, Conkeldurr can cause opposing Heatran a lot of trouble with his super effective STAB Mach Punch. Also, other Heatran might burn Conkeldurr, which will lead to more chaos thanks to Guts. Leftovers simply adds to Heatran's bulk.

Pokemon 5: Dragonite
Item: Lum Berry
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 Atk/ 252 Spe
Ability: Multiscale

Dragon Dance
Outrage
Earthquake
Extreme Speed

I feel I should always have a dragon type on my team. Maybe it's because they have an undeniable cool factor, or maybe it's because their STAB is only resisted by one type. Whatever the case, Dragonite is great. He has great bulk, massive attack, and a nice typing. The only problem is the Stealth Rock weakness, but he makes for a great offensive lead. The combination of Multiscale, Lum Berry, and good bulk can effectively give Dragonite a free turn of set up. After a Dragon Dance and the given moveset, there aren't a lot of Pokemon that can really stand up to a +1 Outrage, other than steel types. Ferrothorn is taken care of by Heatran, Conkeldurr, and Reuniclus (AKA Half of my team). Skarmory is also taken care of by Heatran, as is Bronzong. Earthquake is for the many steel types that run rampant in OU, such as Heatran. Extreme Speed is a very powerful priority move and helps Dragonite revenge kill weakened opponents, and is also an acceptable option I don't feel like locking him into Outrage just yet. Ice Shard completely trucks Dragonite, even with multiscale. Although Mamoswine is UU, I have seen it before in OU, and it stops Dragonite cold. Luckily, Conkeldurr has enough bulk to take Mamoswine's onslaught of Ice and Earthquake and can hit back with a super effective Drain Punch.

Pokemon 6: Vaporeon
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Modest
EVs: 252 HP/ 4 Def/ 252 Sp. Atk
Ability: Water Absorb

Wish
Protect
Surf
Ice Beam

Vaporeon supports the rest of my team with Wish. Protect is there so it can scout and so it can heal itself with Wish. Surf is a great STAB move that hits well over 130 base power after STAB. It hits quite hard after max investment into Sp. Atk. The 252 EVs in HP are so it can wall more. Ice Beam is for grass and dragon types, the latter of which is extremely common. The rest of my team greatly appreciates the wish support, as my Conkeldurr, Reuniclus, Heatran, and Dragonite all lack instant recovery. Grass types that try to wall Vaporeon are scared away by Skarmory and Heatran, while Reuniclus doesn't care about Leech Seed or Toxic stalling thanks to Magic Guard. Water Absorb helps it tank the water attacks commonly aimed at Heatran, and the rest of my team for that matter, as none of them resist water type attacks.

That's about it. I apologize if this was too long. I'll shorten it if requested to by mods and/or admins.

The reason I posted this is for feedback. So give me some. I really want to improve this team to be the best that it can be. Thanks for reading!

Pokemon 1: Skarmory
Item: Shed Shell
Nature: Impish
EVs: 252 HP/ 24 Def/ 232 Sp. Def

Item: Lum Berry
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 Atk/ 252 Spe
Ability: Multiscale

Dragon Dance
Outrage
Earthquake
Roost/Fire Punch/Brick Break/Waterfall

I feel I should always have a dragon type on my team. Maybe it's because they have an undeniable cool factor, or maybe it's because their STAB is only resisted by one type. Whatever the case, Dragonite is great. He has great bulk, massive attack, and a nice typing. The only problem is the Stealth Rock weakness, but he makes for a great offensive lead. Pokemon 6: Vaporeon
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Bold
EVs: 252 HP/ 236 Def/ 20 Sdef
Ability: Water Absorb

Wish
Protect
Scald

Solid team bro, only a few changes.

Whats up guy,

So I just looked briefly at your team and it look like your team is weak to quick special attackers. Common rain team pokes like Starmie, Thundurus, and Rotom-W will give your team fits because they pack strong special attacks like hydro pump, thunder, and ice beam / hp ice that almost all of your team is weak to. Conkeldurr and Reuniclus are neutral to all those attacks, but they aren't specially bulky. Having a specially defensive grass type in conjuction with your vaporeon can sort of help cover all of those weaknesses (just don't use ferrothorn for me *wink wink*). Heatran + Grass Type + Vaporeon = and solid core.

Also, your team is pretty slow. It looks like it will be difficult to revenge kill things. But you do have mach punch and extremespeed, so whatever works for you.

As the first person who commented stated (or bolded I guess) you don't want to run an offensive Vaporeon, especially because you seem to use it mostly for support purposes. Invest some of those Atk EVs into SpDef. That would allow you to sacrifice Heatran as your special wall. This team lacks special attacking power, and even with a different Heatran set, you are still going to run into trouble with physically defensive Water types, which are extremely common in the game (e.g. Jellicent, Slowbro, Rotom W). Therefore I would invite you to try two possible Pokemon in it's place.
Virizion
640.png

Nature: Timid
Item: Life Orb
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
-Calm Mind
-Giga Drain
-Hidden Power (ice)
-Focus Blast

This will add some special attacking power to your team as well as some speed. Calm Mind will make it's already good Special defense absurdly high, as well as allowing it to put a dent into anything that switches in. Hidden power ice will hit any dragon that outspeeds Dnite, which is a lot of them. Though admittedly this doesn't outspeed all Dragon types, namely the Lati twins who you'll still have to be wary of. As the person above said, the addition of a grass type would be valuable to your team.

The second Pokemon who I could see working for you is Magnezone.
462.png

Nature: Timid
Item: Leftovers
EVs: 36 HP / 252 SpA / 220 Spe
-Substitute
-Thunderbolt
-Charge Beam
-Hidden Power (ice/fire)

Standard stuff here. It'll take care of steel types just as well as Heatran did with it's ability. It can also take down bulky water types, but it offers the same defense against dragon types as Heatran did, albeit it isn't quite as offensive as Virizion. Depends if Virizion's defenses don't quite cut it for you. Thunderbolt will be you STAB move, substitute will make sure Earthquakers can't just switch in and KO you. Charge beam is a good way to increase your SpAtk, and for the Hidden Power, it just depends if you think you're going to have more trouble with dragons or other steel types.

You seem like you genuinely want to get better at competitive battling, which is great. Keep at it and good luck!

I noticed your team is weak to rain sweepers, as practically nothing can counter them. You should change Vaporeon to Gastrodon to handle this, as with his Ground-Water typing he can resist any attacks rain sweepers throw at him.

Gastrodon
252 HP/252 Sp.Def/4 Sp.Attk
Toxic
Earth Power
Scald
Recover
Dual-STAB from the 2 attacking moves. His EV spread makes him a very effective Sp.Defensive poke. Toxic helps you take down walls, while Recover aids in recovery

Anyway, if you choose to keep your cleric in Vaporeon change him to a Sp.Defensive poke, as his capabilities as a wall outclass his sweeping capabilities.

A big problem I see with this team is that it has nothing to stop a Calm Mind + Recover Reuniclus and a Choice Specs/Life Orb Latios. The only thing you can do to a Bold 252 HP/252 Def Reuniclus is Outrage it with Dragonite, which fails to even 2HKO Reuniclus. Your Reuniclus's Shadow Ball won't be doing much as the opposing Reuniclus will just set up more with Calm Mind. A Draco Meteor from Latios can rip through everything on your team excluding Heatran, who isn't doing anything other than Toxic back, nor is he able to take Surf nicely. Gengar is also another threat, able to rip through your whole team. Your only means of stopping it is your Vaporeon, which lacks any SpDef EVs to survive a 2HKO from Life Or Shadow Ball. To fix these problems, you can replace your Vaporeon as your Wish supporter for a Specially Defensive Jirachi. Specially Defensive Jirachi with Wish is able to handle all three of these big threats and keep the role as a Wish supporter. A perfect Pokemon to patch up your problems. Here's the set:
front.png

Jirachi @ Leftovers -- Serene Grace
Nature: Careful - EVs: 252 HP / 224 SDef / 32 Spd
- Body Slam
- Protect
- Wish
- Iron Head

Good luck!

Hey there

i noticed that you are running modest on your trick room reuniclus, if you want to outspeed even more under trick room try running a quiet nature. you may also want to try psyshock over psychic to hit specially defensive threats harder. you should also move the 4spe evs into defense, to take physical hits slightly better.

Hope i helped
