Hey guys! So beforehand, I posted an earlier RMT but I fudged up on some of the rules and stuff. Hopefully, this'll be a better improvement, as well as will help me set up a better team overall.
I have playtested, and have reached 1500+ mark. From there, I either go up and down.
First of all, I started a team based on one Pokemon.
Mawile @ Mawilite
Adamant - Intimidate -> Huge Power
252 Atk, 128 HP, 128 Speed
Swords Dance
Sucker Punch
Play Rough
Fire Fang
Really, the standard M-Mawile set. As a weallbreaker, she's been great to me. Having sometimes the capability to go 1-5/6 in a single motion. Sucker Punch remains there for priority, fire fang for excellent coverage, and Play Rough for everything else STAB. Swords Dance is used upon the free switch in, or sometimes to offset the BURN -Attack part. Really, my only problem was either she had no recovery, or burn really can screw her up.
As soon as I saw one of my absolute favorite Pokemon got a Mega Evo, I just had to use it.
So, as stated, I built a team around her. As a wallbreaker, I felt like I needed a sweeper, both Physical and Special to cover her @ss when needed. Considering her weakness to ground and fire, and upon research, two popped up in terms of synergy.
First, the Physical Sweeper of the team.
Dragonite @ Weakness Policy
Adamant - Multiscale
252 Atk, 252 Speed, 4 HP
Dragon Dance
Outrage
Earthquake
ExtremeSpeed
Since the current meta is revolving around really high priority, Dnite's return with Espeed is marvelous. Using mostly a standard DD set + Weakness Policy allows Dnite to really nail and sweep teams easily. I try to switch in upon a weak Ice Shard, Rock Slide then proceed to sweep. Outrage and Earthquake are for coverage, but indeed, I find myself walled by Scizor and Ferrothorn most of the time. Ergo, M-Mawile's time to shine with Fire Fang.
Second, the Special Sweeper of the team and completing my offensive core.
Thundurus @ Expert Belt
Timid - Prankster
252 SpAtk, 252 Speed, 4 HP
Thunder Wave
Thunderbolt
HP Ice
Focus Blast
I'll be honest, this particular slot was difficult to fill in, I had gone through 3 other candidates, but I feel Thundy really makes it round out well. Having the best offensive Prankster in the game, any sweeper is usually hard stopped with a good Thunder Wave. Tbolt and HP Ice for pseudo boltbeam coverage, and Focus Blast for Ttar, Bisharp, and other things that hate it. I really do enjoy him, as he helps in beating really fast sweepers or just regular rapid spinners. (Starmie, Excadrill, Tentacruel, and Blastoise to name the prominent ones)
The current team so far:
These 3 generally make up the offensive core. Obviously, I have an innate weakness to ice, and rock, which is slightly offset by Weakness Policy and Thundy's Speed I guess.
To make up the next 3, I tried making a defensive core. From experience, these 3 have worked wonders, at the same time however, have a glaring weakness to fighting. ;___;
Umbreon @ Leftovers
Calm - Synchronize
252 HP, 118 Def, 140 SpDef
Wish
Heal Bell
Toxic
Foul Play
The cleric of the team. Burn on Mawile? Paralyzed Dragonite? Poisoned Thundurus? Umbreon has been SO useful. It's to the point where I try to put her on every team I make. Boasting amazing defensive capabilities, I can easily Wish Pass, Heal Bell and stall other mons with Toxic. Foul Play is there to not be Taunt Bait; and I can't count how many times I've 2HKO Scizor's and even +6 Azumarill's with Foul Play.
Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Relaxed - Iron Barbs
252 HP, 252 Def, 4 SpDef
Stealth Rock
Leach Seed
Thunder Wave
Power Whip [Creds to Kangaaroo for the suggestion!]
The setter of the team. Ferrothorn remains a classic in my books, with that unique typing and all. Not to mention that I love seeing physical attackers take more damage from hurting him. As taunters are more apparent, Power Whip is there to not be taunt bait. Usefully for other Washes and Water types in general. Overall, he also serves as my wall, being able to stay in with Leech Seed, and constantly deal free Thunder Waves whenever I predict a switch.
Rotom-W @ Leftovers
Calm - Levitate
252 HP, 252 SpDef, 4 SpAtk
Volt Switch
Hydro Pump
Will-O-Wisp
Pain Split
Always used Wash since his debut, so I figured to put him into the team. As a handy pivot, he sometimes allows safe switch ins, and gets awesome Hydro Pumps into some that think I'm going for the switch, ground types beware. WoW is there to cut down on most Physical Threats, especially the likes of Pinsir and other M-Mawile. Pain Split is there to keep him healthy and hurt the opponent.
So there you have it. A final look at the team together:
Now while Wash does a good job at his... job, I feel he's the odd on out, as well as maybe Ferrothorn. Having already a double weakness to Ice, it doesn't help that I'm compounding the weakness with dual mons weak to Fighting.
So there you have it, my main team for OU. I'd really love some suggestions and criticisms to improve. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
PS. If I bent or broke any of the rules of the forum, just inform me. I'm really new to posting here on Smogon.
