Well, it’s not so much that the team is themed so much as the nicknames are. I named the team members after characters from a semi-obscure trilogy of PS2 platformers. Overall, the team’s performed pretty well for me, but I could probably use some moveset/ev/item advice to possibly improve my record.
Team Lead:
Sly
Weavile @ Life Orb
Jolly Nature
(252 Att/252 Spe/6 HP)
-Night Slash
-Ice Shard
-Pursuit
-Brick Break
Sly’s a pretty basic Weavile, really. If I can’t hit the opponent’s lead with a SE hit, I’ll switch to someone else, hopefully successfully predicting what kind of attack’s coming. He’s also my revenge killer for Ghosts and Psychics. Ice Shard was chozen over Ice Punch after a few losses which would have become wins if I hadn't been hit by an errant Mach or Bullet Punch before I could attack.
Neyla
Gengar @ Life Orb
Hasty Nature
(252 Sp.A/252 Spe/6 Att)
-Shadow Ball
-Thunderbolt
-Focus Blast
-Explosion
Neyla switches in when I expect a Normal, Fighting, or Ground attack. Basically, she’s the most common switch-in if Sly is chased out. She’s got a lot of coverage with her moves, and can explode should the situation call for it. Focus Blast’s accuracy still makes me cry, though.
Carmelita
Ninetales @ Wide Lens
Timid Nature
(252 Sp.A/252 Spe/6 Sp.D)
-Hypnosis
-Nasty Plot
-Flamethrower
-Energy Ball
Carmelita usually comes in when I’ve got an imminent fire attack on the horizon. I hypnotize while praying to the heavens, then NP up. Wide Lens is to give Hypnosis a slightly better chance, as the RNG on Shoddy seems to hate me.
Dimitri
Swampert (shiny)@ Leftovers
Relaxed Nature
(252 HP/196 Def/60 Sp.A)
-Earthquake
-Surf
-Ice Beam
-Stealth Rock
My go-to switch in for electric attacks. I was pretty leery about making a Mixpert, but good old Dimitri’s gotten a number of surprise KOs against enemy fliers (especially Dragon/Flying types) by shooting off Ice Beams when they’re expecting EQ, and Surf’s no joke either.
Clockwerk
Skarmory @ Leftovers
Impish Nature
(252 HP/96 Att/140 Def/20 Spe)
-Brave Bird
-Roost
-Spikes
-Whirlwind
Basic phazer bird. Spikes over SR because Dimitri already has it. Not much else to say about him.
Panda King
Hariyama (shiny)@ Leftovers
Impish Nature
(80 HP/172 Att/252 Def/6 Spe)
-Force Palm
-Stone Edge
-Rest
-Sleep Talk
Panda King’s basically a meat mountain. Fight until he ‘s hurt enough, then Rest/Sleep talk and pray for good luck. I’ve gone with Thick Fat as an ability to increase his tankiness, Force Palm over Cross Chop for increased accuracy and Paralyze chance. A lucky paralysis has gained me more than one win with this team.
I don’t really want to switch out anyone if I can help it, because, you know, theme. But, just in case, I do have some potential replacements who could still fit the theme. However, this is sort of a last-resort thing. Improvement of the above six is preferable:
Slowbro or Hippowdon
Torterra or Torkoal
Blaziken
Mamoswine or Tauros
Exploud
Granbull
Politoed or Toxicroak
