My Preparing Newcomers! (OU)

Hiya Pro Pokemon Trainers! How y'all doing? Me? I'm just preparing for the strongest Pokemon team I can come up with. However, I'm still not sure if this team is strong enough to face the world. So that's when you all come in! This team is playing by the Item Clause by the way.

Have a look at this team I come up with:

Gliscor.jpg

Gliscor (Lead)
Nature: Impish
IV's: 31/x/31/x/31/x
EV's: 252 HP/184 Def/68 Sp.Def
Ability: Sand Veil
Held Item: Mental Herb
Earthquake
Stealth Rock
Roost
Taunt/U-Turn

This is a 4th Gen Gliscor. That's the reason why it has Stealth Rock and Roost.

Gliscor makes a great lead with Stealth Rock to create entry hazards to my opponent. It will say bye bye to all the Focus Sashes and can cause real problems to the other Pokemon.

The item Mental Herb stops it from be taunted for one turn to set up Stealth Rock.

Earthquake is for doing damage to the opponent if it can.

Roost is a big help for Gliscor to stay active. This move is useful for playing long games as well.

The last moveslot has 2 options. I would either choose Taunt for stopping non-attacking moves for Gliscor to get up Stealth Rock or U-Turn to do some scouting.

The weak point Gliscor has is Hail teams, Rain teams and maybe Pokemon Leads that are faster than it like Azelf.

Conkeldurr (Choice User)
Nature: Adamant
IV's: 31/31/31/x/28/x
EV's: 252 HP/252 Atk
Ability: Guts
Held Item: Choice Band
Drain Punch/Superpower
Mach Punch
Payback
Stone Edge

Oh yeah! Conkeldurr might look old. But age does not matter to him in battles! He hits like a...uh...um, steamroller. That's right! A steamroller!

Drain Punch and Superpower are both the main moves for Conkeldurr. Both are really powerful, but they have different effects. Drain Punch is for restoring HP and Superpower is for additional power. It is rumored that is might...OHKO a Vaporeon with Superpower.

Mach Punch is a great move with Conkeldurr's low Speed. It catches the opponent off guard since it's a first striking move and it also deals a heavy blow.

Payback is for taking down Ghosts, and maybe Psychic types if it has a chance and Stone Edge for Fire, Bug, Ice and even Flying types. Both have a good type coverage for Conkeldurr.

The weak points of this Pokemon is it's low Speed. Conkeldurr has to take a hit first before bamming the opponent with a move. There are also Pokemon that can take hits from it also.

tentacruel.png

Tentacruel (Supporter)
Nature: Bold
IV's: 31/x/31/x/31/x
EV's: 252 HP/240 Def/16 Spe
Ability: Rain Dish
Held Item: Black Sludge
Scald
Ice Beam
Toxic Spikes
Rapid Spin

Ah, good old Tentacruel...I still llike you even when Jellicent takes some of your spotlight now...This Pokemon supports the team really well.

Scald may be weaker than Surf, but it has a chance to BURN the opponent also. Physical sweepers might have trouble facing Tentacruel when Scald's effect takes place.

Ice Beam is for dealing extra damage to Grass, Dragon and Ground types.

Toxic Spikes is really a move to watch out for. It poisons opponent's that are not Poison types and can really hard the team badly if used twice.

And then there's Rapid Spin to repel entry hazards on my side of the field.

Looks means, yes. But the weak points are Pokemon that are immune to poison like Reuniclus and Pokemon with Levitate. Overall, this Pokemon can go all the way in my opinion.

normal_637Volcarona_Dream.png

Volcarona (Special Sweeper)
Nature: Timid
IV's 31/x/x/31/x/31
EV's: 252 Sp.Atk/252 Speed
Held Item: Lum Berry
Fiery Dance
Bug Buzz
Hidden Power (Electric)
Quiver Dance

This awesome Bug type has the power to sweep teams after a few Quiver Dances. I'd be honest, this is my favorite Bug type so far.

Fiery Dance is a really neat move with the secondary effect to boost it's Sp. Atk. Fire Blast might have more power, but I prefer Fiery Dance.

Bug Buzz is another STAB move for Volcarona.

Hidden Power Electric is mostly for Gyarados, Mantine and probably Jellicent since all those Pokemon resist Fiery Dance and Bug Buzz.

Like I said, Quiver Dance is what makes Volcarona a really good sweeper. After some set ups, the Pokemon will take the spotlight!

However, it's not the best sweeper around since it has a 4x weakness to Stealth Rock...ugh. It also can't handle Blissey, Terrakion and other Special walls as well.

Ferrothorn (Wall/Sweeper)
Nature: Sassy
IV's: 31/x/31/x/31/0
EV's: 252 HP/252 Sp.Def
Held Item: Leftovers
Gyro Ball
Power Whip
Curse
Leech Seed

First things first, Ferrothorn is an awesome Pokemon. This Pokemon has saved me alot in the Battle Subway with it's stalling and physical sweeping.

Gyro Ball is the best STAB move for Ferrothorn since it's so slow.

Power Whip is another recommended move. It can take down Rock, Water and Ground types. A bit inaccruate though.

Curse is for setting up it's Attack and Defense to prepare a sweep.

Finally, this Pokemon has Leech Seed to sap HP and stall for more.

Fire and Fighting types are the MAIN weaknesses for Ferrothorn. If it faces an opponent it hates, I must switch it in for another Pokemon. Taunt is also a problem for it since it can't set up.

salamence.png

Salamence (Mixed Sweeper)
Nature: Rash
x/31/x/31/x/31
EV's: 116 Atk/216 Sp. Atk/176 Speed
Held Item: Life Orb
Draco Meteor
Fire Blast
Earthquake
Dragon Rush

Salamence was an uber in the 4th Gen but now it's back to OU again since there are more Pokemon that can beat this Pokemon. However, it's still a dangerous Pokemon to face against.

Draco Meteor is it's strongest move combined with Life Orb damage. It lays a big dent but it's harshly lowers it's Sp. Atk when used. That is when Dragon Rush and Earthquake can also come in handy.

Fire Blast is for torching Steel, Grass and even Ice types.

Earthquake for more type coverage, taking down Electric, Rock and Fire types.

Now Dragon Rushis an interesting choice. Alot of people would choose Outrage instead, but I got a good reason to pick Dragon Rush. Outrage might pack more power. However, if it hits an opponent, it becomes locked into using that move until it is confused. I chose Dragon Rush because not only it won't lock Salamence to that move, but it can also have a chance to flinch the opponent. But we all know that Dragon Rush is an inaccruate move.

Salamence does have it's dislikes when facing Pokemon. Ice types and opposing Dragon types are the main thing to worry about for this Pokemon. There is also Stealth Rock which cuts it's health by a quarter, making the Pokemon fragile to attacks.

So, there's my team I'm preparing so far. Pretty powerful eh? However, is there anything I need to improve to make this team stronger? Please let me know and I'll thank you alot.

Thanks for reading and have a nice PokeDay!

Hey. Nice team. I'll give you some feedback, but I'm not the best team rater. First off, I would put stealth rock on Ferrothorn over curse, and change gliscor to the toxic orb set. Toxic orb set for gliscor is the most viable set easily, because it provides a lot of heals, and with protect, it's like a pseudo heal. Since it doesn't get stealth rock, that's why you'd pt it on Ferrothorn. Also, I'd put ThunderWave on Ferrothorn over Gyro ball, so that you can cripple faster pokemon. On Volcarona, I would put HP ground soyou can hit Heatran. It's more common than Gyara and Jellicent, and ive never seen mantine before in competitive. Finally, for the mence set, I'd do. This set. It works the best easily.

252 Speed, 252 SpA, 4 Atk
Naive @ Life Orb
Trait: Intimidate/Moxie.
-Draco Meteor
-Brick Break
-Fire Blast
-Roost

This set is very good, as you can catch many pokemon by surprise such as Tyranitar and bliss coming in on a Draco or Fire Blast. Brick Break also allows you to hit Heatran coming in to wall your other 2 attacks. It basically just gives you more power, and coverage, as well as the ability to heal off stealth rock damage of you can't spin in time. GL with the team.

I like your team not really much I can say. You have two Pokemon who are weak to Stealth Rock and even though you have a spinner which is tentacruel Landorus can easily OHKO it. Your team will have problems with Stall team since they can set up freely, also Blissey can wall Volcarona. Smart player will usually leave there Stealth rockers and Spikers until Tentacrual is down and you can kiss the floor bye bye. Rotom-W and Jirachi can solve this problem but I don't know where you will put those two.

Is there an item clause, because Gliscor would love leftovers recovery. Also I don't see the use for HP Electric on Volcarona, with a Modest nature, Life Orb , and Fire Blast it can punch through any Gyarados at +1 if it falls anywhere near 50% (2 stealth rocks switches). With that in mind you'd be free to change your Hidden Power to Ghost / Dark for Jellicent and the Lati twins. Last thing you might want to test is Hammer Arm over Drain Punch / Superpower on Conk.

Thanks for sorting out my team's weaknesses. I do have a Rotom-W in my box so I might try that Pokemon out. It has Trick since it was a Platinum Rotom.

Ok in my opinion there are quite a lot of things that need changing:
Change your Gliscor set to the standard poison heal set:
Gliscor (M) @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 244 HP / 176 Def / 88 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Ice Fang
- Protect

In that case you'll want Stealth Rock somewhere on your team, so I would suggest adjusting your ferrothorn set:
Ferrothorn (M) @ (Leftovers)
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 64 Def / 192 SDef
Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Gyro Ball
- Power Whip
- Leech Seed
- Stealth Rock

Now for some minor, but still important changes:
Hammer Arm is the best thing to have on CB Conkeldurr, as the speed drops don't matter in the slightest. Drain Punch isn't powerful enough, and Superpower gives you Attack and Defense drops you really don't want.
Conkeldurr (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Guts
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Hammer Arm
- Mach Punch
- Payback
- Stone Edge

You say you don't want to be locked in to Outrage, but Dragon Rush isn't powerful or accurate. Go with Dragon Claw instead:
Salamence (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 116 Atk / 216 SAtk / 176 Spd
Rash Nature (+SAtk, -SDef)
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw

HP electric isn't good synergetically at all. HP Ground is for Heatran and Tentacruel. But you can go for HP rock to hit Dragonite/Gyarados if you wish
Volcarona (M) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Flame Body
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Fiery Dance
- Bug Buzz
- Quiver Dance
- Hidden Power [Ground]

Hey
Firstly I'd switch Salamence to a Dragon Dance varient
This way your getting more out of him and yeah
Secondly Volcarona needs a spinner, which you don't have so I'd switch either Ferrothorn to Forretress, or Volcarona to Trick Room Reuniclus
This way you either get rid of rocks and use volcarona, or keep ferro and get Reuniclus.
Hope I Helped! :]

Volcarona > Reuniclus. I'd keep Volcarona, I'd probably consider replacing Salamence with SpecsLatios or Hydreigon.
