My Standard Rain OU Team

Hello fellow people of Smogon!
to tell the truth I have read the RMT Guidelines and the thing is I'm not very good at explaining the reason my pokes are here, but I will try my best!
Alright here it is:

Politoed @ Leftovers
Drizzle
EV: 252HP 252DEF 4SPATK
Bold Nature
Moves:
-Scald
-Ice Beam
-Perish Song
-Toxic

Politoed is here for obvious reasons, for one is he here for the Rain support and keeping him alive is very necessary for the match. Like for instance, when it's late game your opponent may have a hidden weather counter like Golduck with Cloud Nine or Altaira with Cloud Nine or even another pokemon with a weather move. This means that you will need something to get your weather back up in order to keep your hold of the match.

Toxicroak @ Black Sludge
Dry Skin
EV: 248HP 252ATK 8 SPDEF
Adamant Nature
Moves:
-Bulk Up
-Substitute
-Drain Punch
-Sucker Punch

Alright mean old Toxicroak is here for many reasons, like for a stall fest, water absorber, and even a mid-game sweeper. Mainy for the Stall though, but in any case hes an all around good pokemon for any Rain team. I really can''t think of anything else sorry.

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Iron Barbs
EV: 252HP 4ATK 252DEF
Relaxed Nature
Moves:
-Stealth Rock
-Leech Seed
-Protect
-Gyro Ball

Alright he's here for probably the most obvious reason and that is to completely and utterly wall the metagame's dragon segment! This thing does an amazing job doing this and with it's synergy partner Jellicent it is a threat to be counted for on most OU Teams. It can take a physical Flare Blitz from a Infernape choice Scarf quite well! That tells me something.

Jellicent @ Leftovers
Water Absorb
EV: 252HP 4SPATK 252SPDEF
Calm Nature
Moves:
-Scald
-Will-O-Wisp
-Shadow Ball
-Recover

Alright here is what makes me proud and very happy about this team, Jellicent, this pokemon is amazing in conjunction with Ferrothorn. When you use them properly then you may have the opponent annoyed and probably make them try something risky to get past your loop. That is awesome!

Latios @ Choice Specs
Levitate
EV: 4HP 252SPATK 252SPEED
IV: 31HP 30ATK 31DEF 30SPATK 31SPDEF 30SPEED
Timid Nature
Moves:
-Draco Meteor
-Psyshock
-Surf
-Hidden Power Fire

Alright this here is my favorite toy in the rain. This bad boy can blast holes through many, many walls and even punch a good hole into Blissey and or Chansey. That is if you use Psyshock. So, need I say more?

Salamence @ Expert Belt
Intimidate
EV: 202ATK 54SPATK 252SPEED
Hasty Nature
Moves:
-Dragon Dance
-Dragon Claw
-Fire Blast
-Hydro Pump

Alright you guys here me out. I know what your thinking Fire Blast on a Rain team... Well here's my answer, Sun Teams... Sun Teams are this teams main problem and this helps me get rid of it, by sending this big boy in front of a ninetales two things come to mind for the opponent Scarf EQ and or Dragon Dance EQ. Well so if that is the case then they will probably switch to Venusaur and or Exeggutor and take a Fire Blast to the face which wont be pretty. And the rest is pretty self-explainitory. So if you have any changes please feel free to reply below.

Hey there, you got a pretty standard rain team you got going on, utilizing some of rains common threats to defeat your opponent. I do have quite a few suggestions that you could try to help this team reach its full potential and whatnot. Anyways, enough chit-chat, let's get on to the rate, shall we? When I take a glance over your team, I notice a severe weakness to Tornadus-T, as it can absolutely devastate everything on your team, as it can just about 1 or 2HKO every Pokemon on your team while you have literally no answer for it with its wide array of coverage moves. To help with this weakness, I suggest that you replace your current Jellicent with a Specially Defensive Jirachi. With a specially defensive Jirachi in your team, you can withstand Tornadus-T's vicious onslaughts, and can give some some useful resistances and provide Wish support as well. Moving on, I'd like to make a few suggestions to the teams EV soreads and movesets. First off, I'd suggest you use an Expert Belt set over your current one. When equipped with an Expert Belt, Latios becomes a deadly mid-game sweeper with its wide array of coverage moves that can hit a lot of threads in OU effectively. That's really all I have to say for this team. I hope my advice helped just a bit. Have fun and good luck with your team!

Hey Valiant King,

You have a nice team here (I especially like the idea of a Scarf-Bluffing Salamence) but I'd like to clear up a few misconceptions and see if I can't help make your team a bit better.

While I agree that it is quite vital to keep your own weather up, this would be to prevent Sand and Sun from taking over, not to deal with Cloud Nine users. Even if people did use Golduck in OU, his ability merely stops the effect of weather while he is on the field, it does not cancel your weather once he leaves the field. But yes, considering that both Toxicroak and Ferrothorn derive the majority of their power from rain, I would advise you to play incredibly cautiously with Politoed, though I'm sure you've learned as much on the ladder.

Though I support trying Jirachi over Jellicent, keep in mind that it would make you even weaker to Mamoswine, which I will elaborate on later. If you do decide to keep Jelli, I would recommend putting the remaining 4 EVs into Speed as opposed to SpA. In the rare event of you having a standoff against opposing Special Defense Jellicent, you can now outspeed and get the KO with Shadow Ball. If you decide to switch to Jirachi, replace SR on Ferrothorn with Spikes or Power Whip so as to not waste a moveslot.

Right now, there are some flaws with your current Salamence set, creative as it may be. If you run Intimidate, the opponent will realize that you are most likely not using a choice scarf and react accordingly. Using Moxie under the guise of a similar mixed set, apart from the attack boosts, allows you to more effectively bluff the Scarf. To keep up this charade, I suggest a more unique item that builds on the fact that you really don't have a strong answer to Mamoswine. By using Yache Berry, you can survive an Ice Shard after SR and KO the next turn by using a powerful Draco Meteor, or a +1 Outrage assuming it comes in on SR. Unfortunately, you are still beaten by a Genesect Ice Beam, but hey, so is the Choice Scarf set.

Here is the full set, and though unorthodox, it is tailored to your team and the current metagame:
373.gif

Salamence (M) @ Yache Berry
Trait: Moxie
EVs: 64 Atk / 192 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Draco Meteor
- Outrage
- Fire Blast
- Earthquake

Even with Toxicroak's priority, your team is lacking in the speed department, especially considering that Latios's IVs put him at a not so pretty 349 speed when Gengar and Latias commonly run 350 speed. With a Choice Scarf Set, you take full advantage of that beautiful 110 base speed, and can now OHKO threats like Tornadus-T after Stealth Rock with Draco Meteor, as well as stay ahead of the dangerous Scarf Terrakion and OHKO with Psyshock. I would advise that you keep the same set you have now, but you can try Dr. Ciel's suggestion of Thunder if you consider opposing bulky waters a major issue.

Thank you for your help 'd be glad to try these new strategies out when i'm on showdown. Thanks!

Alright now I do have a question could I find a place for Thundurus-T anywhere on this team?
Set:

gsdmk

Thundurus-T @ Expert Belt
Volt Absorb
EV: 4Hp 252SpAtk 252Spd
IV: 31HP 30ATK 30DEF 31THe Rest
Modest Nature
Moves:
-Agility
-Thunder
-Hidden Power Ice
-Focus Blast

This set is mainly to hit waters and other pokes that resist the common rain counters. So if you can find a place for it please let me know!
Thanks!

Well, the one slot that you could possibly replace with that would be Salamence. I´ll try and list out the pros and cons of such a move:

Pros
-New 101 base speed tier, but only if you run Timid
-Typing that is a temporary check to Tornadus-T
-Can survive Mamo Ice Shard if SR is not on the field.

Cons:
-Loss of a spammable dragon type STAB
-Walled by Gastrodon, and checked by bulky Rotom-W.
-Less resistances, you would not have a typing that resists rain-boosted Scalds.

Overall, if you run him Modest, then you will lose out on the cool 101 speed tier pre-boost, but by running Timid you also lose a lot of power. The choice is yours I guess, but I would choose Salamence.

thanks for the input! :D

Hey I just used the team suggested here but I've noticed 1 major problem hazards. Do you think I should run Tentacruel as a set like this:

OwFyR.png

Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Trait: Rain dish
Nature: Bold
EVs: 252HP 236Def 20Spd
Moves:
- Toxic Spikes
- Rapid Spin
- Scald
- Ice Beam

Mainly for the reason of extra hazards and the fact that my team has a strong weakness to entry hazards. What do you guys think?
(This will be in place of ferrothorn and if you have a better slot then that please tell me!)

Alright I've finally made this team to where it 6-0 a sun team with little problems feel free to try it out!
