My team blows more balls than a leaf blower!

Okay so I wanted to make a team that revolved around Shaymin. I tried to figure out some guys that go well with him but I'm not to good with that stuff all that really came to mind was Heatran. So maybe I can get a little help so on to the team.

Changes made in Bold and Italics

Swampert (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 240 HP/216 Def/54 SAtk
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Roar
- Surf
Standard lead pert. SR to start with, Eq and surf for stab, and roar to get rid of those persy pokes that like to set up. No much to say about him. Goes good against most of the other leads out there. Always proves effeciant and a good tank later on.

Shaymin @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Rest
- Air Slash
- Seed Flare
- Hidden Power [Ice]
Now my pride and joy. I used to run a specs version of this guy but I wanted to try something different. I like it over celeby because his mono typing can be a blessing in disguize along side his relitive bulkishness(not a real word I know). He is the only poke im not willing to replace simply because using something you love make it that much more enjoyable for me. Seed flare for stab, Earthpower to hit Heatrans or Infernape switchin(plus having a reliable groud attack is nice), Hp fire to hit steels not names Heatran, mainly for skarm switchins, Rest to heal off that LO damage and cause natural cure. Max SAtk and Spd makes him hit hard and outspeed quite a bit of pokes with his base 100 spd.

*changed Earth power to air slash, and Hp fire to hp ice(both for coverage reasons)

Kingdra (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 20 HP/252 Atk/238 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Substitute
- Waterfall
Standard Sub DD kingdra. extra hp for the subs and swift swim just in case some rain happens. Outrage and Waterfall are great coverage agains anyhting except Empoleon. Other than that not much I can really say although he is amazing when I can get a good ammount of DD's in a rape a team.

Scizor (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP/252 Atk/4 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- U-Turn
- Pursuit
SD Scizor. I like the banded version better my self but I dont like running 3 choice users so I kept him as a SD varriant. Ev's in hp and atk with lefties make him rather bulky altough his spd is lacking. BP for stab and Brick break over superpower just so I can break screens and get more use out of it. Pursuit to get anyhting trying to switch out that I know I can KO with.

*changed SD to CBscizor. Witout the other choice user I felt comfortable making him one. Superpower instead of brick break, U-turn over SD.

Latias (F) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 6 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Surf
- Trick
- Draco Meteor
- Thunderbolt
Specs Laitas. I love her so much. I used almost every form of her before but I by far love the trick CS version. It hits like a truck....an anyhting not named blissey >.< . Surf Draco meteor are a good combo...seems kinda repetitive with the same thing on my kingdra though, Thunderbolt for those bulky waters that try to switch in and for Grya just cause I have a vendeta agains them. Trick is fun...most of the times. Max SAtk and speed are expected so after that not much to explain.

Heatran (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 6 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Earth Power
- Flamethrower
- Toxic
- Substitute
Now the one thing I shouldnt have to explain but I will anyways. Sdandard Scarftran is standard -.- Flamethrower for stab, Earthpower for coverage, Dragon Pulse to revenge kill most dragons. And finally explosion just cause its fun to BOOM! in somehtings face. Goes well with shaymin though.
*Changed Scarf Tran to toxistall subTran. Sounds like a great blissey lure according to Imran.Well thats my team. If you have any questions Ill answer. Any critisizm will help. but like I said I want take Shaymin off the team but i'll keep an open mind to any ideas. Thanks.

IMO Dragon Pulse > Thunderbolt on latias, if he is your last guy, a STAB dragon attack has awesome coverage only being resisted by steel, so draco meteor would mean your SpA drop could cost you the match IMO dragon pulse would do better.

Also fire blast > flamethrower. Simply because it has 40 more base power when you include STAB, and then it has 60 IIRC more base power with flash fire.

Maybe change dragon pulse for HP [Grass] on heatran, its up to you but otherwise swamperts and bulky waters easily take you on.

Also consider roost > pursuit on scizor and life orb, or use legacy riders set

Ill do the fireblast over flamethrower oh Heatran, but hp grass over dragon pulse seems weird to me. He does a great job getting mence with DP other wise I dont have may ways deling with it. I never have to many problems with bulky waters with thunderbolt on Latias and Shaymin take them on pretty well. Whats legacy riders set?

I am going to continue with this team keeping Shaymin in it. The team has been built around Shaymin, and it would seem silly to replace it, as it would be easily just to build a new team.

OK, let's break down what makes a good team that can set up Shaymin to sweep, as that is what we are looking for here, so what do we want to do, remove the three largest threats to a sweep:

  • Remove Blissey at all costs
  • Steel types in general are going to be an annoyance
  • Latias =/
I do not really think that you need both Earth Power and Hidden Power Fire on your Shaymin. You really want to be hitting Salamence, who will probably be slower than you with either Hidden Power Ice, or the less reliable Air Slash. You would have to drop Hidden Power Fire to run Hidden Power Ice (allowing you to do "reasonable damage" to Skarmory, regardless), or you would have to drop Earth Power to run Air Slash. Heatran will generally be faster than you (Scarf) so you may find little need for it, if you are already running Hidden Power Fire. I would say run Air Slash over Earth Power to start with, and then try dropping Hidden POwer Fire for Hidden Power Ice, if you find that doesn't work. Hidden Power Fire / Earth Power is almost redundant in coverage terms, so either solution is better than what you currently have.

I would like to see you running Choice Band Scizor, as it has a way of dealing more reliably with Latias, simply because you are not tempted to sweep with it, and play in the mindset of a check to many threats. You do not want to be losing Scizor early. This will give you a stronger bullet Punch, allowing you to sacrifce Heatran to something that can further your team strategy a little more.

I think Heatran itself can stay, as it provides some wonderful resistances that your team may otherwise fail without, however, i think we can do something with the set. Checking Pokemon such as Metagross, Jirachi and other Steel types can be done just as easily by a non-choice Heatran. I think you will do well with the Substitute set. If you run this set, you will be able to Lure out Blissey and either Toxic, or Explode on her. This Lure will allow you to make sure that she isn't a threat for the rest of the battle:

Heatran @ Leftovers
Timid or Naive Nature / Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 HP
~ Substitute
~ Toxic / Explosion
~ Earth Power
~ Flamethrower

This will lure out Blissey, Stall the Flamethrower and Toxic versions with Toxic, should you Wish to, or just beat it straight up with Explosion. The same goes for bulky waters too, but Shaymin handles them quite nicely anyway.

Ok so I made the Changes to Shaymin like you said. The hp fire and earthpower did seem a little redundant. So I canged it to Air Slash and Hp ice. Im still Iffy with hp ice though cause I have to way of hitting steels that switch in besides trying to hit them neutral with Air Slash.

With scizor I changed to a CBScizor since i no longet have an other choice user.

With Heatran Im not to experienced using a toxistall kind but im willing to give it a shot because if it can eliminate one of the things I hate the most(the pink whore) than I will love it.
