my team is good, could possibly be better though

ok ive been battling for a while, at least with wifi and some on shoddy (although not recently) i have come up with this team and i need some feed back on it

lead
aerodactyl
252 att, 252 speed evs
jolly nature +speed -sp att
focus sash
taunt
stealth rock
earthquake
rock slide

to set up stealth rock and help stop rocks from coming

jolteon
252 sp att, 252 speed
timid nature +speed -att
leftovers or pateya berry
thunderbolt
substitute
baton pass
either toxic or hidden power ice (i play on diamond and didnt breed for hp so toxic wears down bulky grounds and blissey that switch in)

he is to baton pass subs and pass around some status in toxic and can hurt some with tbolt

donphan
252 hp, 252 def
impish nature +def - sp att
leftovers
rapid spin
earthquake
ice shard
knock off (im am considering stone edge too)

for rapid spin support and a physical wall

charizard
252 att 252 speed (on my game its 244 att and 12 hp evs to get hp divisible by 4)
adamant nature +att - sp att
salac berry
belly drum
earthquake
substitute
fire punch

the main sweeping force and pretty much the reason i made this team

dusknoir
252 hp 252 def evs
whatever nature that is +sp def - sp att
leftovers
will o wisp
fire punch
thunder punch
pain split

the special wall and rapid spin block and status support with burns

im not quite sure about a 6th but i have a few options needs to be able to counter gyaridos though

gengar
252 sp att 252 speed evs
timid nature +speed - att
focus sash
thunderbolt
shadow ball
focus blast
destiny bond

great pokemon to use. sash allows me to survive dd boosted waterfall from gyrados and ohko back with thunderbolt and sash allows gengar to survive an attack and kill the foe. then when the next poke comes out...SURPRISE!!!! i ohko it with destiny bond. i love when its blissey that ends up dead

OR

starmie
whichever evs smogon suggests (i think 136 hp, 152 def, and how ever many speed although i might go with max)
timid nature
leftovers
rapid spin
surf
thunderbolt
recover

able to survive gyrados quakes and waterfalls and ohko back with thunderbolt as well as provide more rapid spin support

the focus of this team is to get charizard out and set up and sweep the opponents team. even if charizard dies froman experienced battler or priority move (scizor) the rest of the team can hold its own pretty well. dusknoir can come in on scizor and ohko with fire punch with out getting killed from bullet punch. i shoose donphan over skarmory mostly because of rapid spin as charizard needs it to clear stealth rocks. and i find donphan does hold his own in battle pretty well as ice shard 2kos salamence, flygon, and sometimes garchomp if needed, and earthquake can at least hurt (if not ohko) ttar and metagross pretty badly. knock off denies skarmory and others of their items or stone edge can damage gyaridos pretty bad. and donphan can survive a single dd boosted waterfall. aero is to set up rocks and to help prevent them and makes a decent lead. jolteon is one of my favorites, can damage with tbolt, and pass around poison and subs. i have a few other pokes that can replace the pokes in this team, including scarf heracross, skarmory, dugtrio, infernape (mixed nasty plot version), and a few others. well thats my team, make shanges and suggestions as you see fit

Basing a team around Charizard is somewhat risky. Stealth Rock is on almost EVERY team in the OU metagame.
I would DEFINITELY use Starmie as a spinner first and foremost. I would also run 176 Hp/252 Spe/80 SAtk with Life Orb, using:
-Hydro Pump
-Thunderbolt
-Rapid Spin
-Recover

Something along those lines, using a Timid nature.

You can switch the EVs around to your liking, if you prefer a different set. Just make sure you can take a DD'd Bounce, or a DD'd Stone Edge from Gyarados.

Hi, here to help

our Aerodactyal lead is fine, it gets the job done.

My next suggestion is to make Jolteon the Specs-Joly set. This helps your team with a bit of power behind it's special attacks, which it somewhat lacks.

Jolteon @ Choice Specs
Timid Nature
252 SpAtk / 252 Spe / 6 HP
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Baton Pass
- Thunder Wave / Hidden Power [ICE]

This is Specs Jolteon, who packs a huge punch in todays metagame. The moveset would seem fairly standard for a Specs pokemon, Thunderbolt is for STAB and a powerful attack in general. Shadow Ball is sued to hit Grass and other types if you're not able to get Hidden Power [ICE]. Baton Pass is mainly used for scouting. Send Jolteon is, and have her come right back out to see what your opponent does. If you're feeling really gutsy you can use Thunder Wave before you switch out to cripple the counter. Thunder Wave is really only there if you can't get Hidden Power [ICE] though.

Next, over Donphan I would suggest Starmie. Starmie has the ability to hurt spin blockers, like Dusknoir and Gengar. She also can Spin rocks away, and heal herself up. Donphan can do one thing and that is to help you kill the occasionaly Dragon running through your team.

Starmie @ Leftovers
Timid Nature
252 HP / 156 Def / 216 Spe
- Rapid Spin
- Recover
- Thunderbolt
- Surf

I would place Thunderbolt higher on the list of wants on a Starmie as she is a min Gyarados counter. She's 3HKO'd by a +1 Lorb Earthquake and can OHKO back with Thunderbolt. Surf is there to deal with Infernapes and some Heatrans. Recover is so you can heal off damage while Rapid spin gets rid of spikes for your team.

Charizard... well lets put it like this. Charizard is only good at one thing, and that one thing isn't as effective in the metagame anymore due to Stealth Rocks and Priority moves being everywhere. Charizard will die to a Lucario's Extreeme Speed once Charizard has set up, and Charizard can't do anything about it. I would say put a Gyarados in Charizards place. Gyarados is as much of a deadly sweeper as Charizard is, and he doesn't even need to cut his HP into 3/4 to be effective.

Gyarados @ Life Orb
Adamant Nature
252 Atk / 242 Spe / 6 HP
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge

This Gyarados works well with Jolteon as Gyarados attracts Electric attacks like a magnet. Allowing you to switch in Jolteon for a heal. Gyarados switches in to scare something away, then uses Dragon Dance on the switch out. You'll now outspeed most non scarfed pokemno and be able to OHKO them. Waterfall is a STAB move that shuld be used whenever you can. Earthquake is to hit steel types and Heatrans extremely hard. Stone Edge is made to hit flyers like Zapdos, Salamence and other Gyarados's very hard, with Stealth Rocks a OHKO factoring in Intimidate.

Keep dusknoir as is, the nature you're think of is Impish.

Hope I helped,
Empoleon

Hey benlarson, welcome to Smogon.

RMT Rules said:
3. Have some actual words in your post beyond your six Pokemon and their moves. Not following this makes your post quite boring to read and rate. All Pokemon should have a good reason for being in your team anyway, so why not post that reason? If you're having trouble with this one, start by giving an explanation for each team member. Why are they there? What role do they serve? How do you get them in? Then, give an explanation of how you would open with the team and how you would go about using it. All of these things help people rate your team and allow us to offer more helpful advice.

This does not mean add one sentence saying "Standard x" or "all-around awesome" after each Pokemon. If you put thought into making the team, you can put thought into posting it.

Your descriptions aren't really up to the standard that our team raters require. Have a look through some other RMTs to get an idea of what we're after.

Also;

6. Formatting. Make your post readable. If the format is messy and illegible you won't be likely to receive help and may have your thread locked. Adding pictures to your post can make it more visually appealing too, but pay attention to point 11. Here's a guideline on how to post each Pokemon.

Pokemon @ Item
Ability:
EVs:
Nature:
- move
- move
- move
- move

This isn't set in stone, but the above example or a slight variation thereof makes for a much "cleaner" post.

Alternately, use Shoddy's "Export to Text" feature under Tools, which gives you a simple, clean format similar to the one above with all the information filled in for you. Again, though, make sure to add descriptions of each Pokemon.

You're a lot more likely to get rates if you make your RMT attractive! :)
