Cycle 17: Cinderace
:ss/cinderace:

Cinderace has been making a standout appearance recently as an offensive pivot that fits on a wide variety of team structures. This is because of its excellent ability to generate momentum for its teammates while also controlling hazards on the field extremely effectively. Not only that, it’s surprisingly hard to switch into, with a majority of would be checks such as Garchomp and Landorus-T being crippled by Will-O-Wisp, along with its vast array of coverage options in High Jump Kick and Gunk Shot to hit Heatran, Moltres, and Mega Diancie. Its defensive utility should not be undermined either, as it can realistically switch into Gholdengo, Volcarona, and Calm Mind Hatterene short term and ease the burden off of these threats. What ideas will you come up with for Cinderace?

I wanted to build around never-melt ice Kyurem :kyurem: :never-melt-ice:, and Cinderace :cinderace: seemed like an amazing partner, getting Kyurem in on the water types it preys on such as Alomomola :alomomola: and Toxapex :toxapex: while handling the steel-types Kyurem can often struggle with, alongside using Court Change to remove hazards. Slowking-Galar :slowking-galar: is able to comfortably switch into many of the fairy-types Kyurem hates, while appreciating Cinderace burning the ground-types that often threaten it. Zamazenta :zamazenta: is a great defensive pokemon who is able to provide speed control and handle the knock-offs aimed at Slowking-Galar or Cinderace. I chose Assault Vest on this team to help handle opposing Kyurem :kyurem:, Mega-Charizard-Y :charizard-mega-y:, and most importantly, Volcarona :volcarona:. Normally I don't like running defog Corviknight :corviknight: as it feels so unreliable as hazard control on its own due to almost always wanting to be clicking u-turn or roost but here its supplemented by Cinderace so it feels more acceptable. Lastly, Gliscor :gliscor: provides a good amount of basic requirements, namely being a ground-type who can set stealth rock and help out against threats such as Mega-Diancie :diancie-mega: or Gholdengo :gholdengo:. Pretty solid 6 from testing, although a fairy-type, some form of priority, and a knock-off user would probably help.

This Cinderace offense team utilizes a defensive core of Great Tusk and Galarian Slowking while using Cinderace as an offensive pivot. Mega Diancie's wallbreaking capabilities helps break down bulkier teams to let Weavile clean up. Alomomola rounds the team out with wishpass support. Cinderace's job is to remove Weavile checks, and Cinderace's checks get checked by Great Tusk, Alomomola, and Galarian Slowking.
