Project National Dex Monotype Community-Create-A-Team

Approved by maroon / Original OP by Tyke
Welcome to Monotype Community-Create-A-Team, a weekly Monotype Event where users come together to build fresh new teams, as a community.

During the process of a CCAT, the host guides the community through the process of building a team. Users involved will work together step-by-step to decide the team's build, pick teammates to support the core, and flesh out sets. Finished teams will be posted in this thread and gathered in the post below, alongside a brief description of the team-building process.

There will be 2 phases of selecting what the team shall be built around:

Submissions Phase:
Anyone may comment in this thread a set, core, or archetype they would like to build around, including the generation the team is to be built in, and the type the set, core, or archetype will be on. This phase will run from as soon as the previous CCAT is posted, to Thursday midnight / Friday. The submissions will then be grouped together for the next phase. (all times GMT)

Voting Phase:
Users will comment on which of the options they like the most, and the winner will be what the next CCAT is based around. This phase will run from Thursday midnight / Friday, to be ended & tallied ready for the CCAT to start on Saturdays at 00:00 pm GMT. (all times GMT)

Hosting:
Anyone is welcome to host a CCAT, but they will need permission from Natdex Mono room auth.

Here are some general guidelines regarding CCATs:
  • Every CCAT will center team-building around a specific idea––a core, a set, or an archetype––which has already been selected in this thread. Do not argue or appeal to this idea during the discussion. You may use this thread as a place to suggest cores or ideas for an upcoming CCAT.
  • Suggestions for the team should be thoughtful. Remember that the purpose of the CCAT project is to build teams that are viable in the metagame. Creative and unconventional ideas are welcome and should be discussed.
  • When discussing a Pokemon, consider it both individually and in the larger context of the team. What role does it fill? How does it support the team? What support does it itself need?
  • Be prepared to make many revisions to the team over the course of the CCAT. Adjustments to movesets, EVs, or entire teamslots will be common at each stage of team-building.
  • Remember, the discussion should, first and foremost, be civil and respectful. Flaming, shitposting, and hostility will not be tolerated.

Ok, I'll start us off!
:ss/moltres-galar::ss/skarmory:
Moltres-Galar @ Darkinium Z
Ability: Berserk
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Fiery Wrath
- Hurricane
- Agility

Skarmory @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Spikes
- Body Press
- Roost
- Toxic

This core is fairly simple, Skarmory set a bunch of Spikes onto the field and potentially cripples whatever can wall Galarian Moltres with Toxic, or wear it down with Body Press. Then Galarian Moltres can setup NP or Agility depending on what is more useful at the moment, then try to sweep. Simple but looks fun!

Not a Natdex Main but I'll support the project anyways.
:ss/hydreigon: :ss/urshifu:
Hydreigon @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Dark Pulse
- Fire Blast
- U-turn

Urshifu @ ???
Ability: Unseen Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Wicked Blow
- Sucker Punch
- Bulk Up
With Urshifu being here Hydreigon doesn't have to use a Steelbreaker set and instead, it can act as a Speed Control. Urshifu can run Life Orb / Z-Move / Black Glasses as an item? Pretty straightfoward

Manaphy Water

1613521364600.png

Manaphy @ filler
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 248 HP / 240 SpA / 20 Spe
Modest Nature
- Tail Glow
- filler
- filler

- Rest
Manaphy is a super fun stall-breaking option for Rain Water. Tail Glow allows it to easily out-boost defensive Pokemon. Rain support is crucial for Manaphy, as it activates Manaphy's ability Hydration.

:ss/tapu-koko: :ss/regieleki:
Tapu Koko @ Choice Specs
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Dazzling Gleam
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Thunderbolt

Regieleki @ Choice Specs
Ability: Transistor
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Rising Voltage
- Ancient Power

This is a simple, but straightforward core revolving around offensive Electric teams. Tapu Koko pairs well with Regieleki unlike any other, as it provides Electric Terrain support which allows it to freely spam Rising Voltage against types that lack a sturdy Electric-type immunity such as Fire, Ghost, Bug, and Dark. Tapu Koko also deals with Dragon-types that may hinder Regieleki such as Kommo-o, Mega Latias, Hydreigon, etc. thanks to its useful Fairy-type STAB and Dazzling Gleam. Tapu Koko can also use Volt Switch on a potential switch-in, bringing in Regieleki safely for it to devastate the said foe. Finally, Tapu Koko's access to HP Ice can also pressure Ground-types that Regieleki is unable to break through such as Landorus-T, Gliscor, and Landorus. Both Tapu Koko and Regieleki also carry a Choice Specs, making this core further deadly.

:ss/Charizard-Mega-X: :ss/Torkoal:
Charizard @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Substitute
- Swords Dance
- Flame Charge
- Dragon Claw/Outrage

Torkoal (M) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Drought
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Lava Plume
- Rapid Spin
- Yawn

This set is a little bit crazy notably CBB used it in an ORAS OU tour but I think it has potential in mono it pairs well with Charizard as Torkoal takes 50 for sr and sets sun for its Tough Claws boosted flame Charge which still hits decently hard along with yawn putting the opponents to sleep so Charizard can set up for free. The Torkoal is just a standard set meant to do what Torkoal does best with hdb so it can come in the maximum amount of time to set sun and spin or set up rocks.

For our first week, we made a Flying-type team around maroon's Galarian Moltres + Skarmory core

:moltres-galar::skarmory: + :landorus-therian:
we started off with an idea: set hazards and sweep. Landorus-therian is a great utility mon with access to Stealth Rock, Knock Off, and U-turn. We added him hoping to have a strong utility pivot.
:moltres-galar::skarmory::landorus-therian: + :dragonite:
Dragonite complements our utility core as a physical setup sweeper and semi-speed control. We went with a standard Heavy Duty Boots set.
:moltres-galar::skarmory::landorus-therian::dragonite: + :aerodactyl-mega:
Aerodactyl is an amazing Pokemon for Flying-type teams thanks to its high speed, attack, and utility options. We originally planned for Aerodactyl to replace Landorus-therian as our stealth rock setter, freeing up Landorus's moveset, but we decided to go down a different route...
:moltres-galar::landorus-therian::skarmory::dragonite::aerodactyl-mega: + :thundurus-therian: - :landorus-therian: +:gliscor:
After adding Thunurus-therian to help against Water-types, we decided that Gliscor would be a better fit for the team than Landorus-therian. Gliscor's recovery and bulk is better than Landorus', and it has a very similar utility package. Gliscor's longevity makes grindy matchups like steel and fairy more winnable. Yache Berry + Flash Cannon allows Thundurus to take on Protean Greninja after it clicks Ice Beam
Shoutouts to: Attribute, Mateeus, Trichotomy, bernerzonmymind, Pawwz, Great Renown, mello keel, r8 konijin, idkwhattoputherelol, Fisheous Rend Me, and powerman103 for helping make this great team!

Everyone loves running webs + defiant to discourage the use of defog, and electric has the ability to run this! If you're feeling extra spicy you can also run Rotom to have a spin-blocker as well. Regieleki provides electric with the ability to Rapid Spin so you don't need to worry about defogging your own webs, and if you're feeling extra spicy you can put competitive Boltund to even further discourage defog; however I wouldn't advise it because uh...

yall are not ready for hands down the best core in the game........

Chansey (F) @ Lucky Punch
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Curse
- Double-Edge
- Soft-Boiled
- Earthquake

Blissey (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 96 Def / 160 SpA
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Soft-Boiled
- Flamethrower
- Ice Beam

Chansey is your physical attacker here and can set up Curses on any passive mon or any weak physical or special attacker, and then once Chansey gets on a roll, its easy gg. Curse Boosted Lucky Punch Double Edges have no switch ins except for ghosts, but thats what you have EQ for :) Set up Curses and prepare to sweep your oppo just like the good ol gen 2 uu days. Lucky Punch is used over Eviolite because Eviolite is lame, and Lucky Punch is for real chads. Blissey is your special attacker here, and with its massive bulk can set up CMs and KO unsuspecting mons expecting the usual lame softboiled seismic toss combo. Serene Grace is used here so Bliss can be used as a late game win con to try and freeze or burn other mons that are deemed a threat to the rest of your normal team. Or you can punish switch ins for people trying to disrespect Bliss. The 96 def on Bliss is to live banded close combats from Terrakion. Only issue for this core is Dracovish, but if Chansey sets up enough curses it can 1v1 the Fish. Also that Urshifu guy is also troublesome due to wicked blow going through Chanseys curses and dealing massive damage. Also taunt mons are a problem. But other than that, this core is flawless and should never lose.

edit anyone know how to get the mons sprites in because i dont

Venomoth @ Buginium Z
Ability: Tinted Lens
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature

- Sludge Bomb

Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Light Metal
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- Knock Off

I started with the idea of a Bug hyper offense, which is the archetype that fits this type best. The first one that came to my mind is scizor-mega, which after a swords dance can threaten a lot of teams thanks to its coverage. If the team is a sticky offense, he makes an excellent sweeper. I accompanied him with a venomoth, as a special sweeper, I find that he is in the shadow of volcarona and it's a pity, his talent offers him several opportunities coupled with the Buginium Z.

Volcorona+M-Pinsir Bug Offensive
volcarona.gif
pinsir-mega.gif

Pinsir and Volcorona are a beautiful pairing together. Pinsir with its 155 base attack and its flying stab easily threatens Pokémon such as M-Venasaur, Mantine, Blissey, and Slowking-G allowing more easier set-up with Volcorona, the same way that Volorona threatens Pokémon such as Hippowdon, Aegislash, Ferrothorn, and Celesteela, allowing M-Pinsir to have an easier setup, alongside Pokémon such as Scizor to stop mons such as M-Diance, and sticky web to really pile on the pain, this duo can boost then sweep entire teams!
