Subbing Alakazam as a check to Gengar. With Sash and MG to keep it intact until required to be used, Zam can strike twice and KO Gengar.

:bw/alakazam: @ :focus_sash:
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Psyshock
- Counter
- Dazzling Gleam
- Focus Blast

Counter is fun to cheese Rillaboom and Weavile. Shock is for obvious reasons, DG hits darks and physically bulky dragons and FB is just coverage.
Hope you enjoy!

Nominating Mega Lopunny as a Check

:Lopunny-Mega:

Lopunny-Mega @ Lopunnite
Jolly Nature
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
- Return
- Close Combat
- Fake Out
- U-turn

Yeah I'm gonna admit this is a shaky check but the amount of viable things that can switch into Gengar is in the single digits and one of them is reserved so fuck it. Mega Lopunny can freely switch into Gengar going for Shadow Ball and/or Nasty Plot and threaten to outspeed and OHKO it with Return. Granted, if Lopunny comes in when Gengar is behind a sub/it clicks Sub on the switch things get dicey since Focus Blast OHKOs Lopunny in return (assuming it hits). That being said, the kinds of teams Lopunny usually fits on have U-turners/Volt switchers to get it in, all of which can safely break potential Gengar subs/get Lopunny in safely to threaten it out.

A bit long winded, but yeah Lop can act as an offensive Gengar check

Clefable is probably the only thing that is preventing Gengar from 6-0'ing stall from preview. Clefable is able to switch into Gengar's shadow balls from full and heal off the damage while using it as set up fodder, being able to 2HKO Gengar at +2 SpAtk. Clefable also doesn't need to worry about losing the set up war since it ignores Gengar's boosts. It is worth noting though that this is set specific, as ghostium variants can shadowball on the switch and dispatch it, and sludge wave variants always OHKO.

Allow me to apologize for the frankly embarrassing month long hiatus, lack of motivation really sucks and I'm sorry y'all. However, we do in fact have voting to get to ><

Voting is finished, and congrats to 23Gz for running away with it with their submission of Weavile! In other exciting news, Hall Of Fame has been fully updated! With all that, let's move on to a pokemon that strikes fear in all...

Boasting an absurd attack stat of 170, coupled with great bulk and access to Swords Dance and Scale Shot, Mega Garchomp has torn itself into the conversation as the most fearsome offensive threat in the current NDOU metagame. What ways can you think of to stop its mighty scythes from tearing through the competition? Let's see!

Submission deadline is May 18th at 10 pm gmt-4

Submitting Sharp claws boy as a CHECK

Weavile @ Choice Band
Ability: Pickpocket
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Icicle Crash / Triple Axel
- Knock Off
- Ice Shard
- Pursuit

Weavile is the best viable revenge killer for Mega Chomp, as it outspeeds and Revenge kills chomp with Icicle crash before a Scale shot and Ice shard after a scale shot. It can also chip it if it tries to switch out with pursuit. It obviously can't swap in due to having net 0 bulk, but if pivoted in Via something like a Corv U turn or slowbro teleport, it can safely revenge kill it. Not to mention that Viable counters to chomp are like, 1 or 2 in number lol.

Throw sharp ice at broken dragon. Very simple check. Sadly it can't be a counter due to a possible Scale 5-hit, but this is about as close as I could really get to a decently viable switchin that could effectively revenge kill this monstrosity.

Submitting :GLALIE-MEGA: as a CHECK!
:sm/glalie-mega:

downing street (Glalie-Mega) @ Glalitite
Ability: Refrigerate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Explosion
- Spikes
- Return
- Ice Shard

Truth be told, Mega-Glalie isn't the greatest obstacle in Mega-Garchomp's path, as it is easily KO'd by M-Garchomp's STAB Earthquake. (Note that it 2hko's Glalie with an unboosted Scale Shot) It can, however, revenge a minimally chipped or -1 M-Garchomp with its strong priority Ice Shard. M-Glalie does need chip (Mostly via Rocks or the layers of spikes Glalie may lay throughout the game) on the Chomper in order to safely OHKO it in the case of it getting some scales off.

IVORY DANCE (Rillaboom) @ Choice Band
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Grassy Glide
- U-turn
- Knock Off
- Wood Hammer

One of the few actual checks that Mega Garchomp has after getting a Swords Dance and Scale Shot off. Rillaboom’s ability to glide on its terrain lets it thrash Mega Garchomp, OHKOing it after it uses Scale Shot. However, because this needs a sack at minimum to get it in safely, this is only a check, though an effective one nonetheless.

submitting Mega Slowbro as a check:

Ability: Shell Armor
EVs: 252 HP / 188 Def / 68 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Psychic
- Ice Beam
- Slack Off
- Calm Mind

With a sky-high base 180 Defense stat that reaches 504 raw, Mega Garchomp stands no chance at 2HKO'ing this big boy. If Mega Garchomp Swords Dance's on the switch-in, Mega Slowbro easily eats the +2 Earthquake and returns back with an OHKO'ing Ice Beam (investment ensures ohko). If Mega Garchomp Earthquakes on the switch unboosted, Mega Slowbro merely uses Slack Off and recovers its HP back and will threaten Mega Garchomp again with Ice Beam.

Weezing-Galar @ Black Sludge
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split
- Strange Steam
- Defog / Sludge Bomb / Haze / Clear Smog / Fire Move / Taunt / Toxic / Toxic Spikes / Aromatheraphy / Haze

Gweez is overall a really not the best of mons, but is by far the best Mega Chomp Counter there is, being immune to both of its stabs, and taking neutral damage from Fire Fang and the less common Stone Edge. Although not having realiable recovery is a pain, pain split combined with will-o-wisp and potentially haze/clear smog allows it to effectively wall Mega Chomp, with Strange Steam cleanly 2hkoing it, whilst offering a confusion chance.

Garchomp-Mega Earthquake vs. Levitate Weezing-Galar: 0-0 (0 - 0%) -- possibly the worst move ever
Garchomp-Mega Scale Shot vs. Weezing-Galar: 0-0 (0 - 0%) -- possibly the worst move ever
+2 252+ Atk Garchomp-Mega Fire Fang vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Weezing-Galar: 121-143 (36.2 - 42.8%) -- 97.1% chance to 3HKO after Black Sludge recovery

spam ice fang, buy stone edge crit insurance, u-turn out when it’s low enough. maybe get some rocks in the process.

0 Atk Gliscor Ice Fang vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Garchomp-Mega: 160-192 (44.8 - 53.7%) -- 90.2% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock

0 Atk Gliscor Ice Fang vs. -1 0 HP / 4 Def Garchomp-Mega: 240-284 (67.2 - 79.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

252 Atk Garchomp-Mega Stone Edge vs. 244 HP / 192+ Def Gliscor: 86-102 (24.4 - 28.9%) -- possible 5HKO after Stealth Rock and Poison Heal

+2 252 Atk Garchomp-Mega Scale Shot (5 hits) vs. 244 HP / 192+ Def Gliscor: 330-390 (93.7 - 110.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

:ss/buzzwole:
Buzzwole @ Rocky Helmet / Leftovers
Ability: Beast Boost
248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Drain Punch
- Ice Punch
- Roost
- Toxic / Bulk Up

Buzzwole is an interesting check to Garchomp- boasting a massive Defense stat and a rare defensive type combo, it can tank any +2 hit and retaliate with either a 4x super effective Ice Punch to massively chunk it or KO it if Chomp is chipped, or it can sit and heal while Chomp chips itself with Fire Fang into Helmet. Chomp can’t usually afford to Scale Shot because it doesn’t even always 2HKO even with 5 hits, and using it makes Buzz’s Ice Punch OHKO. Buzz’s massive physical bulk makes it just about the only thing that can take Mega Garchomp head on (Mega Slowbro is lame), winning the 1v1 in most situations barring hax. It’s not a counter because it can be chipped by hazards and be exploited by Future Sight, but Buzzwole matches up nicely overall.

+2 252 Atk Garchomp-Mega Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Buzzwole: 153-180 (36.6 - 43%) -- 97.9% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252 Atk Garchomp-Mega Fire Fang vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Buzzwole: 198-234 (47.3 - 55.9%) -- 22.7% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252 Atk Garchomp-Mega Scale Shot (5 hits) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Buzzwole: 290-345 (69.3 - 82.5%) -- approx. 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
8 Atk Buzzwole Ice Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Garchomp-Mega: 256-304 (71.7 - 85.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
8 Atk Buzzwole Ice Punch vs. -1 0 HP / 0 Def Garchomp-Mega: 384-456 (107.5 - 127.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Scarf Drei is an alright check to mchomp, resisting earthquake and fang and KOing with draco meteor. But it cannot be a counter because it cant tank scale shot unless it hits twice. Scarf is here to outspeed after mchomp hits +1 speed with scale shot, and it can also pivot out with uturn if it switches out. Anyway thats it thank you for reading.
