Project NBT S3W6: Talking in Your Sleep

S2W4 Results

I totally did not forget that yesterday was Monday, just like we all know who the winner of this week is.

:sv/incineroar:

Incineroar @ Apicot Berry
Ability: Intimidate
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 248 HP / 216 SpD / 44 Spe
Careful Nature
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Bulk Up
- Power Trip

Congrats to Diamonds_realm for winning! Also congrats to Shengineer for voting themselves into second place! Speaking of which, Shengineer (or someone else) will be back soon with Week 5, thank you all for participating this week :)

S2W5: Overqwil

:sv/overqwil:

NBT returns from the dead with our new spiky friend! Overqwil joined us here in SV NU briefly earlier in the generation, but RU stole it due to their inexplicable fascination with rain. Now, however, it's back and stronger than ever, so let's figure out some truly nonsense sets for it.

Banned Sets:
1. Rain Sweeper
2. Spikes Setter

Submissions are open now and close Monday, October 14th around 8pm EST (GMT -4).

LET'S GO GAMBLING

Overqwil @ Loaded Dice
Ability: Intimidate
Tera Type: Bug
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Gunk Shot
- Pin Missile
- Scale Shot
- Swords Dance

(busy tn someone remind me to post the calcs later)

HO Lead

:sv/overqwil:

Overqwil @ Custap Berry
Ability: Intimidate
Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Spd / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Endure
- Destiny Bond
- Toxic Spikes / Spikes
- Self-Destruct

This lead Overqwil set wants to set some hazards and then try to trade 1 for 1 with Destiny Bond or Self-Destruct. Custap essentially forces your opponent to avoid triggering Destiny Bond for two turns, and on the second you can boom. Often, Overqwil doesn't actually have to die in the first few turns, but can instead come back in later to stop a rampaging sweeper like DD Flygon.

:overqwil: Acupressure :overqwil:

Overqwil @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 196 SpD / 60 Spe
Careful Nature
- Throat Chop
- Acupressure
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

The ultimate form of gambling, Acupressure Overqwil seeks to boost both its defenses and offenses to such a point that it becomes an unstoppable monster. Haze or Trick are the only surefire ways of shutting down this set, as Evasion/Speed boosts can help you get out of Encore chains (with Sleep Talk being un-encoreable), and Throat Chop and Tera Fairy stop you from getting phazed by the likes of Roar and Dragon Tail. This set is highly RNG reliant, but when it hits, it hits good.

S2W6: Milotic

:sv/milotic:

Previously thought to be a worse Vaporeon, folks have finally realized Milotic's potential and have brought it back to the NU tier! This mon usually takes on the role of a defensive wall/pivot, but let's see what else this mon has to offer! Setup sets with Coil or Dragon Dance? Choice Scarf/Specs with Competitive? Or something FAR more sinster.... the choice is yours!
Standard Wall/Pivot: Scald + Recover + [Ice Beam / Flip Turn / Alluring Voice / Haze]
Submissions are open now and close Monday, October 28th around 8pm EST (GMT -4).

Tired of boring old bulky defensive sets, then go all out on offense with adrenaline orb competitive
:ss/milotic:
Milotic @ Adrenaline Orb
Ability: Competitive
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Alluring Voice
- Surf

adrenaline gives a speed boost when hit with an intimidate compounded by competitive giving a +2 to SpAtk as well, now you might ask "but how are we getting intimidate user to come in on milotic" and it's true that most don't want to come in fearing a scald from normal defensive sets, but say tauros or overqwil think you're in range to be revenge killed, or you pull off a crazy double, now milo is cooking.

Scarf Milotic
Milotic @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Competitive
Tera Type: Fairy / Water
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Scald / Hydro Pump
- Alluring Voice
- Ice Beam
- Flip Turn

Scarf milo does a couple interesting things in this meta. First of all it is good at abusing intimidate with its competitive ability and can catch things like wet-bull off guard with its speed. Secondly it's a bit of a surprising scarfer pick and can use it's good coverage moves and flip turn to be an effective scarfer. Thirdly milotic is still bulky and pure water is a great defensive typing so you still get some of the defensive utitility without a defensive set. These factors combine to make scarf milo an interesting glue mon that can fill in several roles for a team at once. (not unlike scarf florges but a bit different of course)

Replay (I shouldn't have won here with that flygon set at the end, but either way milo did things!)
Team (I think this team is just ok but in case anyone wanted it xd)

Milotic @ Loaded Dice
Ability: Marvel Scale
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Coil
- Scale Shot
- Waterfall
- Recover

Let's say its ass. At +2 you are doing like 50% with Waterfall on neutral hits on offensive mons.

Coil+Dtail is a better combination and very funny/effective for shuffling though but you need tera ghost to no be spined on and than probably would go competitive and scald too.

Look how good a +6 uninvested atk Milo is hitting stuff (first try for sure.)

Milotic @ Adrenaline Orb
Ability: Competitive
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Blizzard
- Alluring Voice / Draining Kiss
- Coil

Adrenaline orb boosts speed when affected by a statdrop like intimidate or def/spdef drop. That paired with competitive and you got yourself a little setup sweeper. Coil is just to have accurate high BP moves, +2 spammable hydro's goes hard. Tera fairy for general longevity+ boosted dkiss.

RestTalk Milotic

:sv/milotic:

Milotic @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Marvel Scale
Tera Type: Ghost / Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 244 Def / 12 Spe
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Dragon Tail
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Rest turns Milotic into a great status absorber that no longer cares about the ticking clock from Toxic. It takes advantage of Marvel Scale's synergy with Rest, boosting Milotic's natural defense to incredible levels. Best used on bulky balance/stall teams while shuffling opponents into hazards using Dtail. Additional coolness points from the chance to pull Dragon Tail using Sleep Talk before the opponent even acts.

Milotic @ Flame Orb
Ability: Marvel Scale
Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 252 HP / 8 Def / 16 SpD / 232 Spe
Careful Nature
- Facade
- Scale Shot / Dragon Tail
- Coil
- Recover

You get some synergy with Marvel Scale + Facade. The spread outspeeds Kilo after a Scale Shot but honestly after Tera you're not taking any damage from anything anyway.
