Tournament NDFL II Set & Team Dump Thread

art by yours truly
Since playoffs are now here, NDFL II Set & Team Dump is here to serve as an opportunity to post whatever anyone has used or considered to use so far! It's pretty self explanatory, post teams you used or built in NDFL II in this thread!

Guidelines
  • This is for teams used in, or considered for use, in NDFL II ONLY.
  • Teams from any of the metagames featured in NDFL II can be posted.
  • A Pokepaste would be preferred in terms of formatting. Sprites would also be a helpful addition.
  • Descriptions/stories about the teams are allowed (encouraged, even) but consider using a spoiler tag if they end up being very long.
  • These teams may be considered to be used as Sample Teams so no need to post in the bazaar as well.
And that's it! Happy posting, and good luck to the teams in the playoffs!

oops jumped the gun and posted in bazaar. i'll cut/paste here instead.

played 6/7 weeks so figured i'd share my teams since i thought they were all pretty good
unfortunately went 3-3 at the end of it, though i feel i could have put up better numbers. my mindset has been kinda tanking from other things lately and that showed. i'm also not the most clutch gamer ever but i'm slowly throwing less and less... for the most part.
that said, i think i did alright for 4000 points, and 2 of my 3 losses were just a couple clicks different from greatness (that is, close games). unfortunately, i'm not as goated as R1C3M4N going like 6-0 in PL.

weeks 5 and 6 are sample subs but there's a pretty similar valtar on the roster already. hoping bruh submits week 3 himself.

week 1 vs Aso (W)
:medicham-mega::kyurem::iron-moth::iron-crown::serperior::landorus-therian:

medi kyurem HO slop with some luck to win. nothing much to say about it. it's a solid enough 6 with enough tools to mix it up however you want. notably, the natures on medi/kyu are opposite of what people usually run.

week 2 vs Bodi (L)

took a funny team from HoodedZack but i goofed and let tusk spin when i'd already burned ghost tera on lu. just a bit of stupidity here. i could have at least been in a better position had i the foresight to just... spinblock. the team is alright despite it looking a little crazy on the outset. it was the only team giving me any good ladder practice (not much sparring with teammates this week) so i just went with it.

week 3 vs Cow (W)
:venusaur-mega::urshifu-rapid-strike::tapu-lele::blacephalon::landorus-therian::corviknight:

i won with an epic blace mvenu anti-meta-ish BO from Xurkiyee the bruhgod inspired by the PRC classic fatkilla. clean game overall!
i'd submit as sample but it is not my team unfortunately.

he has another NDPL team he just used that i'd love to see as a sample as well (vs sealoo). it is one of the easiest teams i've ever played. gotta let him finish winning PL first though.

week 5 vs Wellhell (W)
:lopunny-mega::kyurem::samurott-hisui::corviknight::gliscor::slowking-galar:
https://pokepast.es/8877e994b33ef699
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen9nationaldex-800282
the cleanest game i'd played yet, and with a very solid kyulop. thanks to Dead by Daylight and Xurkiyee/bruhgod for the help on this one. was incredibly proud of how i played around jirachi despite all the goofiness that occurred.

week 6 vs Envy (L)
:tyranitar-mega::iron-valiant::gliscor::slowking-galar::ferrothorn::urshifu-rapid-strike:
https://pokepast.es/f0326057334e9d0b

this loss is gonna haunt my dreams for a while. all i had to do was tera water on shifu to secure the win. there was literally no reason not to.
I edited Dead by Daylight's version of ValTar from a while back. psychic noise gking is actually pretty nice! it ended up being clutch this game when i locked sinis into matcha, though ofc i did toss the game later to that very mon.
of note, i did bring rocks tar and knock ferro instead of fire punch tar and rocks ferro. whoops.
despite this team losing, i really do think it's fantastic into many many matchups. i removed spike stacking in order to give TTar a better time pressuring steels and grasses and figured rocks was enough to contest.

week 7 vs RTM (L)

wanted to load HO for the last week feat. a ghost for halloween. didn't load as much HO as i probably should have given my preference for it.
i'll update this post if IRONM0NK3Y808 lets me share the team. it's a bit older now anyway, and has some troubles into bolt.
another brutal toss -- should've gone out to samurott in front of dnite and not tera'd my ghost/fire for the scizor. i would've then avoided the possibility of dying to +2bp twice at the end of the game and thus flubbing a sucker punch on scizor when it went for roost. i was pretty proud regardless. definitely didn't expect scald leftovers azumarill, lol. unfortunately, this team is hella bolt weak, but i almost pulled it off in spite of that.

thanks again to about and Sputnik for drafting me! it was a hell of a good time in the teamcord and I met a ton of awesome people. hope to do this again sometime. pce

Only team I built for Week 4, which was a rehash of an SV Ubers team I had that I re-formatted to my liking. (think I explained in Week 5 somewhere). Everything else GigaBytez or others provided (ty).

:glimmora::zacian-crowned::zygarde-complete::eternatus::arceus::groudon-primal:
https://pokepast.es/ae135aecebd72715

Tera blast Fairy Ekiller which my logic was it would help pave the way for a Don sweep as Zygarde-C, Gira-O would be the things coming into Ekiller and double dance don doesn't want to deal with them. Useless in practice as Zacian-C beat my opps team by itself more or less.

Despite my poor record, format is okay. I think Zygarde-C access to Glare is definitely the most cringe component of the tier and idk where the Shadow Tag complaints are coming from, seems like a totally irrelevant thing from games I've seen watched. Ty for 15gals and sputnik for drafting again.

My favorite part of the tour was probably the teams I made off with; I effectively just used Samples for all of my laddering until I played this tour where I had to step up and start putting some stuff together. Not all of it is good, but I have some teams to share.

:pmd/tyranitar-mega::pmd/iron-valiant::pmd/corviknight::pmd/slowking-galar::pmd/ting-lu::pmd/urshifu-rapid-strike: Ting-Lu TarVal

I used TarVal structures on ladder for a long time and I observed that general threats to balance like the three big Z-Dragons and HO in general is massive pain in the ass for such teams. I had the idea of using Ting-Lu, who can pretty much anti-bullshit any one Mon while also taking over Ferrothorn's spiking duties, which is huge for matchups against things like Z-Dnite. Urshifu is IMO the best scarfer for this structure otherwise the team keels over and loses to Gliscor and it's generally fantastic against offense. Other techs include Tera Fire Flamethrower Gking which is a hilarious tech that makes the Scizor and Ferrothorn matchups not so embarrasingly bad. Compared to other TarVal teams, you compromise on a few matchups while massively improving some others and this tier is The Matchup Ocean so it's not a terrible compromise.

:pmd/iron-valiant::pmd/dragonite::pmd/landorus-therian::pmd/slowking-galar::pmd/garganacl::pmd/urshifu-rapid-strike: Garganacl Offense

This is truly one of the teams of all time. Garganacl looked great into my opponent's scout, so I got to work. It turns out the kinds of teams Garganacl actually fits on are utterly unplayable balances with zero pivoting moves, so I had a brain blast: offense, but Garganacl. Five of the six picks are fairly clicker-friendly offense staples that need little explanation. Landorus + TWave Gking is a fantastic defensive utility core that enables offense. Scarf Urshifu is ridiculous speed control that compresses like fifty jobs at once. Specs Val is a ridiculous breaker with a fantastic natural speed tier. Tera Steel Dragonite gives you an out to cheese fat teams, potentially letting you get to +3 on Toxic. And then there's Garganacl. If you ever get a chance to Iron Defense on something, which is really not uncommon at all, there is a good chance you can win the game on the spot, which is extremely cool and fair. You can play offense, a viable playstyle, for 90% of the game and then suddenly start boosting with Garganacl to cheese out the rest. In the match I played with this team, I played offense for 90% of the game until I got an opening to start boosting with Garganacl to cheese out the rest, which is enough evidence for me that this team does exactly what I expected it to.

:pmd/weavile::pmd/iron-valiant::pmd/landorus-therian::pmd/iron-crown::pmd/dragonite::pmd/tapu-koko: KokoVal Offense

While trying to create a Garganacl team, this is the other team that popped out in prep. I was disappointed by the lack of breaking power and pivoting moves on most Garganacl teams, so I tried making something with effective pivots and strong breakers. I successfully added these things and soon I had a Garganacl team with no Garganacl and was also actually just a terrain offense that had already been invented by most players who have played National Dex. Still, it's a fine team with a simple game plan. Pursuit + Strong Fairy lets you trap and kill Gking/Clodsire for Iron Valiant to start clicking moves with a speed boost from Koko's Terrain, Landorus is the best defensive utility ever and Iron Crown is a fantastic supporting piece that happens to benefit from Koko's terrain. Change the EVs if you want. This is offense, so Dragonite is there to glue the team together. It looks strong on paper and it works as advertised.

:pmd/tyranitar-mega::pmd/kyurem::pmd/volcarona::pmd/iron-crown::pmd/ogerpon-wellspring::pmd/landorus-therian: KyuVolcPon Offense

This team wasn't really prepped for the tour at all, it was born out of my frustrations on ladder. Ogerpon-Wellspring and Kyurem make a fantastic offensive core, with Kyurem overwhelming the Grasses and Dragons that Ogerpon struggles with. Landorus + Iron Crown are here as the best defensive utility core for enabling offense, but Landorus is Scarf here because I felt like that set might be coming back. The real focus here is on Volc + Tar, who give the team almost every helpful missing resistance and Stealth Rock. Bulky Volcarona in particular shores up a lot of things offense hates, such as Tusk after a Spin, Physical Ival, Booster Crown, Scizor, Ferrothorn, sooo many things. Overall, the team is kind of an offense that tries to take advantage of the things that beat offense on ladder, but overall feels like a beta for a team that could be much better. Kyu + Volc + Pon feels particularly strong and pairing it with a different three could really farm, though this team is fine with an asterisk.

Conclusion

I guess these are technically sample submissions, but the only one with consistency I'm really confident in is probably the Ting-Lu TarVal team.

Participating in this tour was very fun and I improved a lot as a player and builder, although I still have a lot of work to do. With my college schedule, I am probably spread too thin to compete in another tournament any time soon, but I'm happy for the time I spent. Thanks Sceptiles and Adriyun and Redgoop115 for the draft.

I would also like to draw particular attention to BananaTimeZ and Hyjinks, who were two players in particular on the Sceptiles who I just got the vibe knew their shit every single week and put up good performances even during losses. If anyone on this team should graduate from little league baseball it is probably these two.

Here are two other teams that just kind of suck, don't use them.

Well, me and Arty’s team are out of playoffs. I built a TON of teams for the sv slots so here we go, I’ll dump every idea that we had come up with, even the stuff that went unused but we still considered. These are all sample submissions if they are good enough lol

Key:
:kyurem-white: used by / for Slikkles
:kyurem-black: used by / for Beleth
:kyurem: used by / for Aso / miyoko

Week 1
:kyurem-white: https://pokepast.es/17fd1342206ad693 - broken ho, you already know what it does. We wanted anti ho because the opponent was a known spammer of offense and ho and this team stacks on speed boosting sweepers + booster energy mons to achieve that. The team originally had gouging fire over kyurem, but it was edited later after it got banned.

:kyurem-black:
https://pokepast.es/2aeb7ab0ab4ce83c I passed this standard Koko + Waterpon BO to beleth but eventually we ended up using a more consistent structure arty gave. Thought the combo of mtios + Koko would do well into the Zack scout

:kyurem:
https://pokepast.es/44323e0c7522b02c - iron moth + waterpon seemed to cook Sh0shin with all the msciz he brought so we settled on this. Pretty standard stuff and it’s supposed to be teched against stuff like rain which was plausible since he liked to steal teams

Week 2
:kyurem:

https://pokepast.es/afe5089fd23e0308 - remake of a sm team, it’s pretty bad but it suffices sort of. Chomp was good into the scout so I just passed this but we didn’t end up using it for obvious reasons lol

:kyurem-white: https://pokepast.es/b62b7c9f980b8aae - Standard kyulop because jzplr hates kyurem, both personally and in his scout. Nothing to really say about this team other than it’s just an incredibly basic squad

:kyurem-black: https://pokepast.es/bc33cca1a0b5c260 - I wanted to build a classic core of Venu + celes since that shuts down standard kokoval and waterpon + crown stuff. I got the structure from a sm team and the rest is history. Rain mu is wonky but it’s playable still and dnite is fine because of shard weavile + Tera Garg, however dd kyurem is nigh unplayable if you aren’t aggressive enough. Still a solid team tho
https://pokepast.es/d687b262723accf4 - I already posted this to the bazzar but it was basically built with the same idea as the first team. However when I showed beleth the team he just straight up didn’t like it LOL

Week 3
:kyurem-white:

https://pokepast.es/439438d2abb06e6e - We couldn’t really get a read on what cow would load so we just went with something solid to load, this core absolutely shreds fat teams as weavile + waterpon + rbolt break everything in the tier

:kyurem-black: https://pokepast.es/4b249af74c10837a - I ripped off a charmflash team and edited it to be a standard offense. Chomp was originally loaded dice in the game but since then I edited it to be spdef dtail so some ho stuff isn’t as unbearable

https://pokepast.es/6d5d2be67cd8d725 - this is a take on xtra ho, it needs to be played highly aggressive in order to actually take games but it works well. Band Boulder seemed like a fine fish against noname since it’s quite unexpected but the other team probably did a little better in the realm of consistency.

:kyurem: https://pokepast.es/3645e63dacc45c79 - one of the teams I passed to miyoko, they ended up using their own stuff but I thought the core of Mtios + tinglu + clef would be good into the kinds of lop or medi / crown / moth offenses they liked to load

https://pokepast.es/3441c6cb1b5582c9 - another team I built, pursuit weavile + Slowbro and Garchomp basically does the same thing as what I wanted in the first team but this goes a more BO route. Shoutout RunicPower413 for the idea

Week 4
:kyurem-black: - https://pokepast.es/17a200069df4baf3 I don’t think this team ever saw a game ever (I didn’t even test it) but it’s standard BO ig. Beleth ended up using one of the builds from week 3 tho. The idea was to load kyurem because wellhell’s teams were super weak to it

:kyurem-white: https://pokepast.es/4ca38e108e51f935 - I kinda let my builder instincts go wild with this one but in short we wanted BO with Volcanion because I thought that sealoo / Seth would pass a team where Volcanion could 6-0 with steam eruption burns alone
https://pokepast.es/27a379353f147e51 - this is an older but more standard structure with volcanion, made some edits and the team and it worked exactly as planned as we got a solid mu.

Week 5

:kyurem-white: https://pokepast.es/6fd10a69d603a2cc - I built this just so Slikkles could deviate from offense. It’s an ORAS team remake that I thought did well in testing. But then guess who comes in with the first teamdump of fat ever? My goat artymasion, so we just loaded one of his teams for both the Slikkles and beleth slots

Besides that I didn’t build at all this week lol, arty provided a teamdump and beleth used that too while Maia just used a team that I had stolen from NDPL

Week 6
:kyurem-white:

https://pokepast.es/efbbd4d37a6c17e1 - Slikkles really wanted to use blacephalon this week so I gave them a team with it, however in the end we just went with a ho structure that seth had used in last chance. I didn’t really build this week either lol

Week 7
:kyurem-black:
Beleth wanted to load rain but it ended up as a deadgame soooo I made 10 million rains this week!
https://pokepast.es/45672252ebacf684 - lol don’t use this, it was a funny idea I had to exploit the mola / gking structures rain doesn’t like but it’s completely garbage. However I didn’t suggest he load it lol and gave him the other 2 teams as actual suggestions
https://pokepast.es/705ca612ffc504f3 - triple av rain that’s low on momentum but works solidly because of having like 10 av users that blanket stuff like ival and lele.
https://pokepast.es/0effb6a4a6cd5dd9 - this rain is probably the best one imo, wanted to look into Weav and zap rain so I just took the 2 ideas and mashed them together in one rain. Solid team imo but the other rain 6’s out there are more consistent than this. Rbolt can probably be put over zap btw but I thought stab hurricanes were appealing along with being a flying resist.

:kyurem: https://pokepast.es/15ee912ccc7423bf - I edited an Aso team but it never ended up getting used, it’s a standard Weav volca lele BO with enough outs into offense to be viable and good enough to use.

:kyurem-white: https://pokepast.es/4e3c27500b7bd314 - if you couldn’t tell I just like putting out meme builds to get an idea of what we could go for. Stall seemed natural to load into Bodi since he’s a cheeser but because this has a horrid rain mu we didn’t load it and instead used broken Seth Garg ho
Overall it was fun to build for the sv slots this tour and I hope I get to manage another nd tour again so I can do something similar. In this post I also want to shoutout everyone who made this team environment possible and those who put effort into playing for our team.

ARTYMASION It wouldn’t be right if I didn’t s/o my amazing co manager. I really don’t have anything to say to you than the great things I’ve already said about you, but what I will say is that you are the goat. Not only did you accept my managing proposal when signups came up, you also were invaluable during sv prep and getting stuff in order when I wasn’t available or I just wasn’t feeling the best to build or test or the like. You are one of the best friends I’ve made on the site and it was great to partner again and manage a team to decent success.

Beleth I know you were busy with other tours and such, and I should’ve noticed that sooner and given you a break, but even so it was good to have you along on the ride. This season wasn’t rlly the best on your end but I wouldn’t attribute it to you; you are still a great player and I wish you luck in the other tours you are in.

Aso With PRC being in the picture, I didn’t even think we were able to draft you. However, drafting you was NOT a mistake. Your self-sufficiency when you did play was great to have when I had to help prep for 2 other sv slots (which is a fish tier and I was kinda burning out from building). Not only that, you helped provide scouts and team advice for other tiers besides sv when I wasn’t available which was great. Your team spirit was also exceptional during this tour and I love to see such enthusiasm in the mons community. During next PL or even blind / snake draft managers should look into buying you.

Slikkles My GOAT, there’s a reason why we put you in every week. You didn’t really ever burn out even after you lost and your positive record shows you are willing and skilled in how you play. I think you should play this tier more and sign up for more nd tours because even though this meta is kinda fishy you still play well in it. Not only that, your kindness was just as good as your play and I love this in players. Good luck in future endeavors bro you are going places.

Miyoko Idk how we didn’t slot you in the first week… at all lol, when you subbed in and got a W in week 2 I remembered how you took down some good players in ndwc and your solid playing skill in general. Your neutral record isn’t rlly representative of your skill because when you needed to win you won gloriously and played well. 6.5K was a steal tbh and it was good to have you around and be a flexible player.

JeoZ Goat ss slot, was good to have a ss player that I could be confident in each week and although your record went neutral there was definitely some luck involved and you still played well and carried on the same winner energy as you did in wc.

Scizor Boladão good run in this tour for the amount of times you played, I could tell you were motivated to play and support the team and it was good to see you defeating some strong players in the tour. You were also active in prep for ss and when you needed to pull through as a sub for sv you delivered, good luck in future endeavors.

ibleachyourskin Activity kinda died down in the middle of the tour due to uni stuff and that was an unfortunate time frame in this tour. However I’m glad you supported the ss slots well when you were available and I await the next time you are able to play in team tour and prove you are a solid ss player.

Maia I know this was an unfortunate time to have this tour in. Health issues suck and I am truly sorry if I had forced any unnecessary pressure on you by continually asking if you were good to go in each week. Nonetheless, I am thankful that you were patient with me and you put forward effort to be flexible in multiple tiers. There were some unfortunate losses but even so you have great potential in nd tiers so I encourage you to keep it up, get some more practice in said tiers, and take another shot at it once another nd tour comes around, whatever tier that may be.

SapoDaG30 WOW how did this man not even get drafted in the first half of the draft?! The support you provided for UU was incredible and I’m glad you got to go positive in a team tour after your great run in summer seasonal. I hope this was a good learning experience for you; next year when NDPL rolls around and you have continued to improve I’m sure you will be a valuable support option for any UU slot.

Fluore I know this tour wasn’t rlly in your list of priorities but it was still good to have you along for the ride and although we kinda had some last moment decisions on what to bring, it was still nice to have you as a low-maintenance slot that could go into the game and still perform solidly. You are still a great player and I wish you luck in future tours.

TTTech Ngl you majorly impressed me this tour, you are a good mono player and although I had some heart attacks when we had some last minute decisions on what to load you still pulled through in the end with a great 4-2 record. Keep it up bro you are a fire player and it was nice to work with you.

cyclonez_ extremely sorry for your season, I rlly could’ve done more as a manager to help you out in your prep but it’s mons and I still think you have a ton of potential to break out as a great player in the nd Ubers scene. It was good to see you dedicated to prep and I hope this tour was a good experience for you.

sundays Bro you pulled off a great turn-around during this tour and I am majorly proud of you for pushing through and gaining a positive record despite a low start. Even though you probably weren’t too too familiar with the tier I’m glad you still pushed through every week and ended up with a good record, good to see you perform solidly this tour.

Chilli Dewd As one of my friends I saw an opportunity to get you into the team tour environment and it seems to have payed off. I’m sure you learned a lot from Slikkles and the others and I hope this experience was one that you are able to learn and grow from. However, I HAVE to mention the win you got against PRC that was actually fire, it was amazing seeing you take down a good player like that after a week of hard work in prep.

Marss Barss ngl you were the piece that glued the whole team together. Your RU and Doubles support was invaluable when we didn’t have much support for those slots so I’m honestly incredibly happy we got you; otherwise we wouldn’t have gotten to the spot we got in. You got a ton of potential and I can’t wait to see where you go next especially with your level of enthusiasm.

zastra and rightclicker I’m grouping you guys together because having tz’s that were completely separate from the rest of the team was an unfortunate occurrence and I apologize for that. In hindsight I should have given you guys more opportunities to play because this tour wasn’t rlly eventful with all the tz-related things and other tours that you guys were busy with but I am glad that we bought you 2 and that you were willing to be a team sport nonetheless and play when needed.

Pr1nce0fAllSaiyans We really should’ve given you more chances to play, but truthfully you were good to have around and support the mono slot when needed. You have a ton of potential and one day you’ll break out in mono. I hope this tour was a good learning experience for you, and it was nice having you be motivated to help out in other slots like Ubers.

bumboclaat want to give you a special shoutout because without you idk what cyclonez would’ve done without your help, thank you for being willing to help this tour even though NDPL was much more important for the duration of NDFL. It was good to have the Ubers goat around.

boppydop! thebestever543 R8 Velcroc ionnss Good to have you guys help out when needed, you could’ve picked any other team to support but I’m glad it was this one that you chose. This tour wasn’t rlly the most important to support for you guys and I know that but your support is still valued greatly to me.

Yeah so I don’t really know what else to say because I’ve mainly expressed my thoughts on how managing this tour felt and what I learned from it. Thank you to the hosts for picking me and arty to manage even though we had no expertise in managing; hopefully we’ll be able to manage in this tour again and take it all next year.

Here is a team dump for all the teams I used throughout the tour:

W2: :Iron Moth::Enamorus::Scizor::Rotom-Wash::Venusaur-Mega::Excadrill: (W)

Replay: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen9nationaldexuu-792920

A Volt-turn squad with almost every mon providing defensive utility in one way or another, with multiple win-cons in enam, sciz and moth further aided by healing wish support. With M-Venu and Scarf Enam being my counterplay into Moth.

W3- :Latias-Mega::Celesteela::Rotom-Wash::Aegislash::Mienshao::Hydreigon: (L)

Replay: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen9nationaldexuu-795706

In an attempt to play something different(Still Volt-turn tho) against a strong opponent in Iride, I wanted to use LO shao which has almost no switch-ins with rocks up to potentially allow to sd z aegi to clean up late game. Also has a pretty sturdy backbone in M-Latias, Celesteela and Rotom-W.

W4-:Gallade-Mega::Rotom-Wash::Scizor::Iron Moth::Ting-Lu::Enamorus: (L)

Replay: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen9nationaldexuu-798254

I had very Little Prep going into this match, so I decided to go with M-Gallade Volt-Turn which seemed pretty decent into the scout paired with probably my first and last time using Lu.

W5- :Greninja::Iron Boulder::Iron Moth::Rotom-Wash::Celesteela::Venusaur-Mega: (W)

Replay: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen9nationaldexuu-799258

Two Strong cleaners in Moth and Z BB Gren with a breaker in Boulder paired with Volt-Turn support, rounded off with M-Venu and Celesteela as a defensive backbone.

W6- :Dhelmise::Rotom-Wash::Iron Boulder::Scizor::Venusaur-Mega::Greninja: (W)

Replay: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen9nationaldexuu-802426

Seeing a bit of Lu in the scout, Dhelm was chosen to help with that which further allowed Rotom to be pain split. This paired with Specs gren with spikes as a breaker and Volt-Turn Support to allow sd Z Boulder to clean up. This team also featured the fabled double Z, but truth be told thats just supposed to be boots on the sciz.

I Struggled a lot with building, wanting to use something different that I actually pilot well I just settled on picking up a squad from the NDPL team dump and changing two mons, unfortunately getting rid of the exca check in the process. This is the only team that I used that I'm not proud of.

This was an amazing experience, playing my first team tour and ending with a net positive record of 4-3, I learnt a lot about building and playing while interacting and having a blast with a great batch of people, I'm sorry I wasn't the most active. Playing in every week after W1 was not something i expected, but it was an absolutely amazing experience and I wouldn't have it any other way. A massive thanks goes out to Toxinalpaca and Suzuya for drafting me and being amazing managers, and my teammates especially V-Creating Victory and Elvira for being amazing supports for almost every tier. All these teams barring my SF team are sample submissions as well.

UBERS TEAM DUMP

:ditto: :groudon-primal: :arceus-fairy: :giratina-origin: :alomomola: :eternatus: DittoMola Fat Balance (L)
I didn't know 0.5Mirror very well in Week One, and the scout didn't help me much at all, so I had to bank on the fact that they usually play AG or other Ubers tiers, which led me to believe they'd bring some form of HO. Well, I was pretty wrong, and I paid the price to say the least, but I have a feeling that was more about me misplaying rather than the team itself being bad, since I relied too much on Alomomola for pivoting when I could've easily hard-switched a few times. The major chance for this team though would be to the Eternatus set - going Choice Specs or Wallbreaker with Meteor Beam works much better here at actually creating pressure for the team, while benefitting more from Alomomola's slow pivots and Ditto's pressure versus Zacian-C.

:glimmora: :calyrex-ice: :arceus: :eternatus: :yveltal: :zacian-crowned: OTR Calyrex-I and Z-Move EKiller HO
(W)
Just want to apologise to AM for robbing him with those misses against my Zacian-C, you should've had a better game than that. Regardless, I figured last week wasn't very good for me because I'm just not good enough with Alomomola structures in particular. It's not a bad Pokemon, maybe its ME who needs to work with something else. So what am I good with? HO. Again, there wasn't too much information to go off of, but AM's experience with SV Ubers meant loading OTR Calyrex-I in this tier where its uncommon could be a decent surprise against him, especially since it worked nicely in testing. The only thing I would change about this team would be to make Arceus Life Orb Tera Normal rather than Z-Move, since that's a bit more consistent, but other than that, this team is fine last time I used it. Not 100% sure about the Stall MU though....

:glimmora: :tapu-lele: :deoxys-attack: :lunala: :necrozma-ultra: :ditto: Typical PsySpam
(W)
Another Glimmora team, cool. Anyways, PsySpam is generally good when you want a quick and clean win, versus a player like Dahness that doesn't use a lot of Arceus-Dark, preferring Yveltal instead, which is much more abusable for PsySpam teams. There was a PsySpam team that looked exactly like this, I think bumboclaat sent it with his NDUbers Replay analyses, but the major differences are Tera Normal Deoxys-A, simply to dodge Marshadow's Shadow Sneak, and Tera Fairy Ditto, which helps vastly versus any pesky DDance Zygardes that want to setup against my Glimmora. These Tera types are mostly up for preference though, they're not the objective best ones, especially since I was tempted to use Tera Psychic on Deoxys-A to boost Expanding Force up to lethal levels.

:kingambit: :groudon-primal: :arceus-fairy: :giratina-origin: :zygarde: :alomomola: Kingambit Balance
(L)
I swear the burn made me lose. Complaining aside, Kingambit is a Pokemon I think is far from D Tier material, it's usefulness into teams that rely on Giratina-O, Necrozma-DM, Lunala and Arceus-Dark is extremely valuable, just like with BananaTimeZ. I preferred Rock Tomb Primal Groudon over running Spikes since hitting Ho-Oh for SE was pretty important for the team, especially for Arceus-Fairy and early-game Kingambit. I know I said I don't like Alomomola, but I needed a pivot for DD Zygarde and Kingambit against Arceus-Dark or Necrozma-DM, and it was either this or Rayquaza, but I spoke to a few people and they all agreed Alomomola worked better for Giratina-O and Primal Groudon. The only major change I would make for this team is to change the Kingambit EV spread, since this one lacks a bit of power according to Adem at least, but other than that, it's fine I guess.

:shuckle: :zekrom: :kyogre-primal: :arceus-ground: :rayquaza: :necrozma-ultra: Zekrom Sticky Webs HO
(W)
Tired of people bashing Zekrom, its a great wallbreaker for HO teams against Stall and even Fat Balance teams lacking Arceus-Fairy, which it can still beat with Substitute and predictions. Shuckle is preferred over Smeargle here because I like it's consistency, ability to deal damage with Final Gambit and punish DD Zygarde better with Encore compared to Perish Song. Tera Rock Arceus-Ground was for specifically Extreme Killer Arceus because the team doesn't like that a lot, while also doing more damage to Ho-Oh in case you have no boosts ready. Finally, a major difference from the original I posted a while back is that this version has Ultra Necrozma over standard Necrozma-DM. Aside from me finding out Ultra Bursting doesn't stop you from using the Z-Move or vice versa, it helps break Stall even better, while doing much better against opposing offense teams, which this team may not like. Probably one of my favourite teams in this whole tournament.

:chien-pao: :landorus-therian: :giratina-origin: :groudon-primal: :zacian-crowned: :arceus-water: Chien Pao Bulky Offense
(W)
The whole schtick with picking Chien Pao is that Rei liked (according to the scout) offense teams, and these offense teams didn't do the greatest into Chien Pao. Although there was a bit of Zacian-C prevalent, my own Landorus-T and Primal Groudon shut it down well enough. If you don't know though, this team is actually a revamped version of Adem's team which he used to nominate Chien Pao with, but that team is pretty outdated and it kinda struggles with CM Arceus formes, so I'd say mines is better. The only weakness I'd say there is, is to Life Orb Yveltal, specifically after it has used Tera Dark, since Zacian-C is prone to wasting an Intrepid Sword boost if it tries to offensively check it before being shut down by Primal Groudon, while Arceus-Water needs to Tera Fairy to actually fight it 1v1, while Chien Pao can never switch in (which is also why I have Landorus-T, for pivoting).

:diancie-mega: :groudon-primal: :yveltal: :giratina-origin: :necrozma-dusk-mane: :arceus-ground: Mega Diancie BO
(W)
Doesn't say on the paste for some reason but this was for Week 7 vs Cyclonez. I'm not sure what my thought process was with this team not gonna lie, not exactly sure why I loaded it, probably since Cyclonez uses a lot of typical meta structures, so I thought maybe Mega Diancie was anti-meta enough to work? I mean, I did load it against Eledyr and even he admitted his team didn't do well versus it iirc so, surely Mega Diancie BO is viable right? Regardless, the last slot was a bit of a toss-up, but after a bit of testing, I figured this team is a bit too weak to Eternatus, so CM Arceus-Ground gives me a special wincon and a soft check into that, which is nice.

:cyclizar: :lunala: :zygarde: :groudon-primal: :eternatus: :yveltal: Cyclizar Offense
(W)
Anchor9 I'm so sorry for beating you with this shitpost of a team but you were genuinely so hard to build around all things considered. Cyclizar passes a Substitute to Primal Groudon which not only lets it setup easily versus Smeargle lacking Perish Song, but lets it fight Trick Room much more easily... assuming you're RUNNING THE CORRECT EV SPREAD - USE THE TYPICAL DEFENSIVE SPREAD TO MAKE SURE THE SUB ISN'T OHKO'D BY DAZZLING GLEAM HATTERENE!!! Anyways, Tera Water DD Zygarde is a similar situation to Primal Groudon, while Lunala's Shadow Shield applies to the Substitute as well, making it easily the best partner for Cyclizar while also being a pain in the ass for weaker Pokemon like Ferrothorn or Glimmora to deal with. I originally had Arceus-Dark over Yveltal, but the Sticky Webs MU was tougher than it seemed even with Cyclizar, so Yveltal worked better - also it has Sucker Punch which is really nice.

:deoxys-speed: :flutter-mane: :zacian-crowned: :yveltal: :necrozma-ultra: :yveltal: Flutter Mane HO
(W)
Another team stolen from Adem and revamped to suit the current metagame more. My rematch with 0.5Mirror has finally given me more insight into what this guy likes, and he deffo likes Extreme Killer Arceus, so that's partially why I deployed Flutter Mane. The other reason was because I figured, trying to out-defense him was impossible, so playing HO and outpositioning like that was objectively better, and it was with Magic Coat Deoxys-S. I gotta give a huge shoutout to Skyiew for their suggestion on Thunder Wave Deoxys-S though, that worked perfectly and it probably saved me the game NGL. The rest of the team is typical HO stuff, Zacian-C, EKiller, Ultra Necrozma, Yveltal, you name it. Also yes, this is a Triple Life Orb Core... that's dope.

teams that didnt make it

I'm not gonna explain every single one because although there aren't that many, they are all either too weak, too slow, too niche, or I just figured something else was better. They're probably usable... but don't be surprised if they're not very good:

This was my first week to start, and I didn't really have a scout for adgp, so I went HO. As of late, I've really favored Smeargle over Shuckle as a Web-lead due to it's shear versatility. This team is pretty Ditto-proof, with the Arceus + Marshadow priority core. Chi-Yu is here for any stall and serves as a soft Scarf Yveltal check, which my teams always seem to be vulnerable too. I think originally Marsh was Band but I don't really remember plus Bulk Up is better here. Etern is a very good breaker and deals with Toxic Spikes + Yveltal. Zacian-C is Zacian-C. The way I lost was a bit unfortunate but I could've played against Kyurem-B better.

After how week 4 ended I was determined to win entering week 5. The Deoxys had the slimmest chance for playoffs and I didn't want to be the reason we lost. I put a lot of prep into this week and probably overthought way too much. Originally I wanted to use Deoxys-A-Alomomola balance because I think Deoxys-A is really fun to use and that Alomomola would bring it to its full potential. The rest of the team quickly fell into place. Giratina-O plus Alo = epic. There was a lot of Zacian-C usage over the course of the tour so I decided to make Giratina-O really defensive. Arceus-Dark is the mandatory supporting Arceus. I chose Dark over Fairy because I needed a Ultra Necrozma switch-in. BananaBro helped me test a lot over the week and quicky Yveltal (again!) pressured the team way too much once Eternatus was removed. Also, there wasn't a solid offensive check against Zacian-C, as Deoxys-A needed chip to OHKO. Web teams in general looked terrible to face. I realized Deoxys-A just didn't fit on the team I was trying to build and slapped old reliable Ditto on instead. And Ditto absolutely proved its worth in this game. Without it, I don't know if I would have be able to win the game long-term. This is the team I'm most proud of from this tour and I believe it's solid if anyone wants to use it.

Looking at the scout vs. AM I thought Toxic Spikes Eternatus looked pretty strong. I hadn't used Defensive Eternatus much and it looked fun. I think Bumboclaat thought up Air Balloon Eternatus and I thought it would work well so I used it. I wanted to use something like these six Pokemon but was struggling to find good set chemistry. Toxinalpaca linked me to the NDPL teamdump to give me some ideas and behold, there it was. Bumboclaat had the team I was looking for with its glorious Fire Spin Ho-Oh and Imprison Arceus-Fairy. So I did what any reasonable person would do; I copied the Mons and the EV spreads while throwing out all the tech I didn't feel comfortable using. I was determined to keep Toxic Spikes Etern though so I didn't adjust to Bumboclaat's Meteor Beam set. I didn't really feel like adjusting the team afterwards but playtested a bit with BananaBro. He thought it was a bit vulnerable to defensive Primal Kyogre, but I didn't want to worry about it. Well, AM brought somethig just as bad, Calm Mind Arceus Fairy. After I paralyzed it with Zygarde I had literally no way to meaningfully threaten it. I won by hax though so that was that. Looking back, I see that Glare Zygarde and T-Spikes Etern don't really mesh with eachother well lol. I would change Eternatus to Power Herb-Recover if anyone wanted to use it.

I was a bit worried going into this game against BananaTimeZ. I also was quite busy with college so that didn't help too much. The first thing I knew going into this was that I was definitely not bringing balance into Goth fan 1#. I had HO set on my mind to start out. V-Creating Victory did a ladder team scout for me and that eased my feeling into this game. I saw three main tendencies, Lunala, Scarf Yveltal, and Zacian-C. There was also a decent amount of defensive Necroma-DM. The original plan was to load Chi-Yu AND Yvelatal to overwhelm these mons. But once again I ran into the Zacian-C problem and opted to fit Primal Groudon in over Chi-Yu. The rest of the team is practically recycled from Week 4 except Zacian-C is TB Ground now. I REALLY wanted to use Endeavor Smeargle because I have trauma from Week 4, but BananaBro suggested to keep Stone Axe to break Shadow Shield and pressure Scarf Yveltal more. And it worked out.

NDFL Semifinals Sami: L Replay

I stand by my belief that Sami was the best Uber player in the pool. I didn't trust my ability to outpilot with balance since Sami is better and also an extremely aggressive player, so I decided to go with the best chance I had to win, cteaming. I was pretty much banking on the idea that Sami would bring some sort of offense and had Tera Grass Caly-I in case of Alomomola. This is pretty much standard Trick Room and is pretty boring. The only thing worth mentioning while teambuilding was trying to find a way to deal with Alomomola and Zygarde. V-Creating Victory suggested that Iron Bundle could be usable to pressure them and be Speed control outside of Trick Room. I was very skeptical, but decided to playtest after seeing the calcs. Yeah.... Iron Bundle is trash. Anyways, my plan failed because Sami and I had the same plan. Sami decided to cteam the web structures I had been using with Cyclizer Substitutes. The MU at preview pretty much spelled my end, although mismanaging Cresselia certainly didn't help.

Conclusion:

I had a lot of fun over the course of this tour. It really forced me to grow as a builder, which I've always have seen as one of my bigger vulnerabilities. I used a lot of Pokemon and sets I haven't used often, such as Chi-Yu, Toxic Spikes Eternatus, and Calm Mind Arceus-Dark. I have some shoutouts but I'll keep it short and mainly to the people that helped me in Ubers:

BananaBroSHSID Thanks so much for all the help with prep! My teams would've remained trash if you didn't help playtest and point out structure faults. I didn't even need to ask for playtesting because you were always asking if you could help. Thanks for also showing up to watch many of the games although it's really inconvenient with how far our time zones are. Next year you need to get drafted if you're still interested in Mons. You're a true friend and a Nat Dex goat.

Toxinalpaca Suzuya Thanks for drafting me! I know I didn't really have a impressive resume if any at all, yet you two still believed in me. This was the best possible manager experience for me to start with. Sorry for choking near the end.

V-Creating Victory Thanks for all the advice you gave along the way and for helping with scouts when I needed them! It's a shame you didn't
get to play, but you supported the entire team from the background so well!

Dahness You're an excellent player and sorry the season didn't go as well as you would have hoped. I'm sorry for getting frustrated at times. A lot was on me because I didn't support you very well and couldn't really playtest. Our time zones and work schedules never lined up very well. I hope to see you next year for NDFL / NDPL.
