Pls send me a message on discord (mrbanana45) and tell me about u (send memes), I’m on the Natdex discord u can find me there. Do not send dm to Seroo or Jeoz cuz I’m the one looking for the vibe slot tysm

Just giving a shoutout to increase the visibility of some people who I believe are good enough to get into PL.

Ebony God - He is one of the newer scenes in the Ubers tier, and has had extremely good and consistent performances, recently going 4-2 in SSNDPL and making semifinals for the ND Ubers Open, while also performing well in the NDUPL. Great teammate and good support + player.
Opelucid - Also one of the newer faces in Doubles. Helped a TON in our NDWC Doubles slot, coming up with creative ideas and and building good teams. Another good teammate, and they will prep regardless if they play or not.
AIRedzone - Pretty much the same as above, except that they did put up a strong record in NDWC.
spoo - Not much to say here, besides him doing consistently well in the NDRU tours as shown by his record in NDCL as well as his performance in the NDRU Invitational. Really creative builder which is something I respect a lot, don't let them go for cheap!
Master Chief - A well seasoned player, and recently has taken a lot of interest with the RU tier once again, showing good overall performances in the NDRU Open.
Regiboob - Good player, recently did well in SSNDPL and is a creative builder and is a good player, hype teammate and wants to do well.
Dead by Daylight - Got snubbed last year, but has been improving and is self sufficient for both UU and RU.
paysa - Good SVUU player, and would be able to transition well into NDUU if provided with good support.
Vioz - Been on fire in tours recently, can do well in OU if provided with good support.
Fierce Flamethrower - Did decently well in draft for both NDWC and NDCL, good prepper and one of the better cheaper picks.
TBIC106 - Also got snubbed last year. Jawabarat did cover most of this so nothing much to say except that they were extremely helpful during NDCL.
SapoDaG30 - They have been consistently improving and provide valuable support and test games for lower tiers, and are a fine player as well.
WinstonByTheSea - Not much of a shoutout, except the early access to deep scouts!! They're also a solid OU support and player slot, definitely worth spending on
Dabman1069 - This is more of me reaching out to managers; he's a fine player and good builder for lower tiers, and wants to do well.
Niadev - I believe they went to FL last year? Regardless, being a tier leader and consistent player with creative ideas is not something to miss out on.
Anchor9 - Good ubers support and great teammate; I believe they got drafted last PL but missed out on CL.
Huargensy - Did well in the recent SSNDPL, and play SSOU regularly. Good cheap pick provided they have good support.
Sami - Despite his repute and constant trolling, he's a really good and cheap Ubers support as well as a player, and wants to do well.
Oculars - Really chill and vibey teammate, and a good creative builder for both SV and SS OU, will stay up late for games and prep. They sure do deserve to get drafted.

will add more if someone I feel about the same^ signs up / I miss out on someone

+1 for Hybone. I'd heard good things from about hybone from SSS and Eledyr before NDUPL and it was an absolute pleasure to manage them during the tour. Not only is hybone incredibly talented, but was a dream to manage. They were constantly cheering on the team in discord and seem like just an all around nice person. Hybone should be drafted, but if you're a manager, hybone does need team support as I built most of the teams used in NDUPL and teammates built the rest. There is a lot of good Ubers support available for 3k and it will be a worthwhile investment. I'll do a proper post shouting out some players that managers may overlook in the next few days

Week one of NDPL is in the books! Let's get right to it with our first usage analysis post!

I know this one is a little later than normal but I had basically no time over the weekend. I have similar irl scenarios during week three and week five, so those posts will also likely come out later in the week.

With only twelve games, and 24 separate teams, this is the smallest dataset that I've had to work with outside of playoff scenarios. It's honestly almost too small, and makes it hard to glean much from low rates of usage in particular. I'm still going to point out low usage trends that I find interesting, but take them with a grain of salt unless the trends persist for multiple weeks.

Most Used Pokemon :sv/zamazenta:

Well, some things never change, and apparently me having to find new ways to say that Zamazenta is the most used Pokemon of the week is going to be a trend that persists into this tournament. With nine appearances, or 38% usage, it was largely business as usual for our canine companion. It appears that seven of these were some variation of the standard 4a set that has become a staple of all levels of National Dex play. As usual, not all items were made apparent, but we had two appearances of Fightinium Z, one of Heavy-Duty Boots, and one of Life Orb. Meanwhile, an IDPress Zamazenta also made an appearance, while the much rarer Howl variant also showed up. This Howl set utilized Darkinium Z with Crunch, presumably to immediately break through bulky Ghost- and Psychic-types like Slowbro and Pecharunt. All in all, however, there wasn't much new going on with Zamazenta, whose trophy case in terms of being the most used Pokemon is starting to look like prime Jordan's.

Other Pokemon with High Usage

There was a six way tie for next highest usage, with Garchomp, Terapagos, Ogerpon-Wellspring, Tapu Koko, Ting-Lu, and Gholdengo all receiving 5 uses, which amounted to 21% usage. Of these, the most surprising by far is Tapu Koko, who has not been popular in previous team tours I've written about. Three of the Tapu Koko's were used to facilitate Quark Drive equipped teammates, although interestingly Iron Moth was more popular for this role than Iron Valiant was. One of the Tapu Koko's operated in a standalone fashion, while the last one was a Dual Screen setter. It's hard to discern the exact items on these, but at least two of them carried Volt Switch, which could give creedence to a Specs set. While Koko has been bogged down by some of its terrible matchups, such as Iron Treads, Ferrothorn, and Galarian Slowking, being popular. However, Koko can also be a real headache for teams running Ground-types that are wary of Hidden Power Ice, and players clearly looked to exploit this niche while unlocking the potentially devastating Quark Drive speed boost. While most of the others haven't seen much specific innovations, we did see a huge upswing in Scale Shot Garchomp usage in comparison to previous tournaments. Players also experimented with different Scale Shot Chomp movesets, with Scale Shot+Stealth Rock and Substitute sets all seeing appearances as players looked to take advantage of this dangerous sweeper. Also one of the Terapagos ran Stealth Rock, which I hadn't seen in one of these tournaments previously.

Highest Ranked Pokemon to not be Used :sv/charizard-mega-y:

Well, if Zamazenta is stacking up victories like Prime Jordan, then Zard Y continues to have a trophy case more resembling that of the Columbus Blue Jackets. As the only A subranker not to be used, Zard Y continues to be somewhat of a usage anomaly, at least on the surface. On one hand, Zard Y's placement in the A subranks has not been contested by many players, as its upsides are simply too great to justify dropping further, at least in my opinion. Yard facilitates an entire playstyle, and while said playstyle can be finicky, its overall an effective one and has seen successful usage in every tournament I've written about. It's just...not very common. Building around Zard Y can feel somewhat formulaic, as multiple forms of hazard control and coverage for certain problematic matchups are required on every Yard team. Even if you do prepare for these bad matchups, Pokemon such as Garchomp, Toxapex, and Mega Latios can give the playstyle problems. It's a great bring into the right scout, but it can also feel like an ineffective choice into the wrong matchup, and that makes it a risky bring unless you are confident that you have a download on your opponent. The upswing in Garchomp usage definitely doesn't help either.

Other Pokemon to Recieve Low Usage

Several previously very common Pokemon were not used much at all, although most were used at least a couple of times. Of note, Corviknight, Zapdos, and Hatterene were all only used once, while Mega Diancie, Ferrothorn, Mega Latios, Gliscor, Volcarona, Galarian Slowking, Dragonite, and Alomomola were all only used twice. My guess is that most of these are due to the small sample size more than anything, so I'm not going to speculate as to why this happened. However, keep these Pokemon in mind in case these trends continue, in which case I will start looking into why that might be.

The UR Pokemon :sv/aerodactyl-mega: :sv/gyarados: :sv/jirachi:

Two UR Pokemon were used this week, although one of them was actually used twice. Mega Aerodactyl's excellent speed jumps off the page immediately, and there are a few other traits that are of interest for folks that want to try out this menacing Mega. With its excellent speed and cool STAB combo, Mega Aerodactyl checks threats such as Zamazenta, Ogerpon-W, and Great Tusk, and it also switches into Tornadus-T far better than most of the alternatives. It's access to Dragon Dance also allows it to apply pressure with boosted moves should it find an opportunity to set up. Speaking of Dragon Dance, base Gyarados also made an appearance, running a Flyinium Z set that lets it break through bulky threats and potentially sweep in spite of its mediocre speed tier. Interestingly, this Gyarados used Intimidate as its ability rather than Moxie. Also, Jirachi was used, and speaking of...

Some Cool Sets I Want to Highlight

Separation's Z-Happy Hour Jirachi
:sv/jirachi:

Iron Crown has largely taken over the admittedly not large niche for cheesy setup Steel/Psychic type, but Separation's creativity led to placing a Z Happy Hour Jirachi set behind screens and letting it rip. With Stored Power and Aura Sphere as coverage, this set can theoretically become a threat to teams that are not prepared for speedy boosted Psychic-STAB, and with the bulk boosts it could also theoretically beat threats like Kingambit with screens up. Jirachi's colorful movepool could also let that last move be unpredictable. This didn't end up working out as a Sucker Punch Cinderace combined with a Gambit in the back halted the sweep, but general kudos to Separation for their continued creativity!

Darkness's Z Wild Charge Iron Hands :sv/iron hands:

Iron Hands has seen sporadic usage throughout my time doing this, usually as a bulky trade machine for offense teams. However, Darkness used Hands' low speed to his advantage, as he brought this unconventional Hands set on a trick room team. With Gigavolt Havoc, Hands can bring the pain with a boosted Z Move off of Wild Charge. In fact, Hands was arguably the MVP, starting the game out with a bang after OLK tried to trick it a Choice Scarf while it set up, before the Handy Man started blasting. While Wild Charge is slightly unconventional as a choice of Electric STAB, it does have more consistency than Supercell Slam while being more powerful than Thunder Punch, making it a surprisingly solid choice as Darkness piloted this niche playstyle to a win.

Ok see you all next week!

Week two is over, which means its time for another usage analysis post!

All games were played this week, meaning there were 24 teams once again.

Most Used Pokemon :sv/zamazenta:

Screenshot 2026-09-14 at 12.15.53 PM.png

I'm taking suggestions as to how best convince y'all to use something different, because there's only so many ways I can say the same thing over and over again. With 12 appearances, or a whopping 50% usage rate, Zamazenta continues to stretch my vocabulary as I look for new phrases and words to make what's probably been the 15th edition of the same ass paragraph look interesting. In all seriousness, there was at least some different looks this week. The usually unpopular IDPress variant received three uses this week, which is far more than it usually gets. One of these also eschewed the more standard secondary coverage options for Heavy Slam, presumably to catch any Fairy-types that thought they were safe off guard. The seldom used Psychic Fangs also made an appearance on a 4a Zamazenta set. It was business as usual the rest of the way, with your standard mix of Boots, Z-Moves, and Life Orb making appearances on the 4a variations.

I dare someone to run Choice Specs Zamazenta next week to give me something else to write about.

Other Pokemon to Receive High Usage

Landorus-T had a banner week for usage, as it appeared ten times for an excellent 42% usage rate. The majority of these were defensive pivot sets, as players looked to Lando-T for its valuable defensive role compression combined with pivoting. Most of these packed a Rocky Helmet to apply additional chip onto the many physical attackers that are currently permeating the tier. A Swords Dance+Continental Crush variant also made an appearance.

Gholdengo also had an excellent week, checking in with 8 appearances, or 33% usage. Thunder Wave sets appeared to be most popular for Ghold this week, with significant item variance to boot. A Choice Scarf set also made an appearance, but multiple items and sets went unrevealed for Ghold, so I'm not sure if any of them had a Z-Move or not. Iron Treads also had a great week with six appearances, or 25% usage, as players continue to value the catch all hazard game role compression that it offers.

Highest Ranked Pokemon to Not Be Used :sv/cinderace:

The bunny finds its way into this category once again, as Cinderace continues to see relatively sporadic usage at high level tournament play. I'm personally high on Cinderace right now, for the record, but there's no denying that one needs to build it very specifically lest it end up being dead weight or actively detrimental to have on ones team. Fast paced hazard stacking very common right now, and while Cinderace can definitely alleviate that with Court Change, it also doesn't match up very well against the defensive Pokemon that are common right now, leading to it giving several Pokemon relatively free entry, including those that set the hazards up themselves. Teams are choosing to mitigate this through Rapid Spin (as evidenced by the high Iron Treads usage) and stacking their own hazards rather than waiting for their opponent to. Meanwhile, offensive sets like SD and Band are very dangerous, but also challenging to build and they tend to dislike the upswing in offensive Pokemon that are faster than it, most notably Zamazenta but also more Tapu Koko and Tornadus-T. All in all, not a good week for Cinderace.

Other High Ranked Pokemon To Not See Much Use

While many Pokemon who didn't see much usage last week recovered with solid weeks this week, a few notable ones did not. Mega Latios, Gliscor, Alomomola, Zapdos, and Corviknight continued their usage trends from last week, with Mega Latios and Corviknight only receiving one use, while the others got two uses apiece. Landorus-T being by far the most popular Ground-immunity didn't help any of the Flying-types, as its blend of utility and pivoting leads it to be preferred over Zapdos and Gliscor. Meanwhile, Corviknight suffered thanks to an influx of Gholdengo and Iron Treads usage. Mega Latios didn't see much use either, as bulky walls and Dark-types were everywhere and teams preferred other soft Wellspring checks. Finally, Alomomola continues to be relatively unpopular, and honestly I couldn't tell you why. The metagame has definitely shifted in a more offensive direction, and these teams can overwhelm Alomomola or take advantage of it with specific sweepers that Mola does poorly against, but the laundry list of Pokemon that Mola does check pretty easily are still mostly prevelent, and its pivoting is still very valuable. I would guess this is more of a blip than anything, but definitely keep the WishFish's usage in mind as we go forward in this tournament.

The UR Pokemon :sv/hydreigon: :sv/heracross-mega:

I'm not going to highlight these two in the cool sets section, because these were brought by, who else, Separation and Darkness, and I'd like to highlight some different players. Make no mistake though, these were cool brings. Separation's Nasty Plot+STABs+Roost Hydreigon with Dragonium Z was the butcher vs SpyOP's Sun team, which had no reliable switch ins at all. While definitely a risky bring in a metagame permeated with strong Fairies, Separation's scouting made the right call and this set ended up helping him win the game. Meanwhile, Darkness brought a Substitute variant of Mega Heracross with Close Combat, Knock Off, and Rock Blast, but Sealoo's defensive core consisting of Gliscor and Slowbro gave him ample opportunity to pivot around such coverage. Still, good stuff to these players for their consistent creativity!

Some cool sets that I wanted to highlight

mrfraud's Whirlwind Iron Moth
:sv/iron moth:

Iron Moth can be a huge headache for certain team structures to deal with, but its flawed STAB combo and coverage leaves it hard walled by common Pokemon like Heatran and Ting-Lu, alongside bulky Regenerator cores with Pokemon like Toxapex and Galarian Slowking. mrfraud got around this with a Whirlwind set, which allows Iron Moth to preemptively phaze these threats out as they try to switch in. However, in this game specifically Iron Moth did one better, as it phazed out a Dragonite attempting to set up and reverse sweep him. Very clutch inclusion, and a cool little innovation that helped mrfraud take victory.

electraineheart's Psychium Z Slowbro :sv/slowbro:

The elder Slowbrother continues to see relatively low but consistent usage, as players like to fit it on teams that require its ability to check dangerous Fighting-types but can accomodate for its flawed Specially Defensive profile. One issue with Slowbro is its general inability to immediately threaten Poison-types; while Poisons are generally fearful of Future Sight, Slowbro usually has no other way to immediately threaten them, therefore letting them status it or get up Toxic Spikes before being forced to flee. electraine looked to fix this with a Psychium Z set, which allowed her Slowbro to immediately threaten Poisons and help clear the way for her Zamazenta and Mega Diancie. This didn't quite work out within the game, although the Slowbro did end up sniping a Mega Venusaur after the game was clearly over. Still, good stuff to this little set tweak!

Ok see yall next week.

Week Three is in the books, so lets get to the usage analysis!

Full disclosure: I usually write these on my breaks at work. Last week was a super busy week to the point where I basically had no breaks, so this ended up being very delayed. My apologies.

Most Used Pokemon :sv/slowking-galar:

Finally, I get to write about something other than Zamazenta! With nine appearances, or 38% usage, Galarian Slowking made its first appearance as the most used Pokemon during a week! While it wasn't the most successful in terms of winrate, as it only won three games, this does put GKing far ahead of its defensive pivot brethren in terms of usage. Of these, the vast majority seemed to be Chilly Reception variants, as one would expect. However, outside of that+the largely obligatory Future Sight, there was a significant amount of moveset variation. While Sludge Bomb was the most common secondary coverage slot, the last move saw tons of interesting innovations, with Scald and Focus Blast seeing use on top of more common 4th moves such as Ice Beam and Toxic Spikes. While some might see the lack of winrate as disappointing, its still fantastic that we got a new most used Pokemon! Can the streak continue into next week?

Other Pokemon To See High Usage

A trio of Pokemon checked in with seven appearances, or 29% usage. Gholdengo once again showed its flexibility this week, with bulky and offensive Z-Move sets seeing usage on top of an appearance by the Choice Scarf set. It wasn't its best week winrate wise, however, as it only took home one victory. Everyone's favorite dog couldn't let the competition get too far ahead of it, as Zamazenta still had a solid winrate on top of its good usage statistics. Two of these Zamazentas never hit the field, so its hard to know what sets they were using, but four of them were 4a variants utilizing items such Heavy-Duty Boots, Life Orb, and Darkinium Z, while a dual screener and an IDPress set also made an appearance. Finally, Kyurem had an excellent week, with four wins on top of the seven appearances. The most popular set was the SubRoost set, albeit with Groundium Z as the item of choice to increase pressure onto Gholdengo and Galarian Slowking. Other items included Choice Specs, and what I think was a NMI variant.

Corviknight and Cinderace recovered from previously poor weeks of usage as they both received five usages apiece. Garchomp also received five uses, albeit with only one win.

Highest Ranked Pokemon To Not Be Used :sv/dragonite:

In a shocking twist, we have our first A+ Pokemon ever to not be used for an entire week. Dragonite was the big loser this week, as no one brought this ever reliable and friendly beast. Dragonite's excellent resistances and access to Dragon Dance on top of an excellent movepool have led it to be a compression demon that can cause defensive cores any number of headaches with the right moveset, but it found itself defensively overlooked this week as teams looked to other Flying-types, as evidenced by the high usage rates of Zapdos and Corviknight. Teams are also looking towards defensive pieces that maintain momentum better, such as Galarian Slowking and Corviknight. Meanwhile, offensively Dragonite does not appreciate the influx of Corviknight, Toxapex, and Ting-Lu. Honestly, though, I think this is more of an artifact of the relatively small sample, as Dragonite is still a really solid Pokemon. Keep an eye on its usage in the coming weeks, however, to see if this trend continues.

Other High Ranked Pokemon to Receive Low Usage

Alomomola's very pedestrian usage continues to be the main story, as it again received only two uses throughout the week. It's especially notable considering how popular Galarian Slowking is, as players look elsewhere for their defensive pivots. The metagame has shifted somewhat, as now Pokemon that Alomomola could previously check somewhat reliably, such as Zamazenta and Garchomp, are now running sets that can beat it either through raw power or tools such as Substitute. Meanwhile, Ogerpon-W remains pervasive, and the Assault Vest set continues to struggle with how weak it is to hazards.

A lot of Pokemon received low usage this week. Notably, Landorus-T, Gliscor, Terapagos, and Kingambit all received only two uses, while Pecharunt, Mega Latios, and Heatran all only appeared once.

The UR Pokemon :sv/latias:

Only one UR Pokemon made an appearance this week, as ezra brought a Latias. Unfortunately, this never hit the field, so it is impossible to know for certain what set it was or even whether it was Mega or standard Latias.

Some Cool Sets That I Wanted to Highlight

SpyOP's Assault Vest Kyurem
:sv/kyurem:

Full disclosure, this is largely a guess as to the item, but this was running the standard Rock Slide that shows up when this set makes a very occasional appearance. Assault Vest lets Kyurem lure in and remove certain Pokemon that it otherwise doesn't immediately threaten, most notably Mega Charizard Y and Volcarona. Interestingly, Rock Slide in this specific game assisted with defeating, of all things, a paralyzed Hoopa-U via paraflinching it. Go figure, and good stuff to SpyOP for getting use out of this rare Kyurem variant!

1yr's Focus Blast Glowking :sv/slowking-galar:

Honestly I don't have a huge amount else to choose from here, as most revealed sets this week were very pedestrian, so I'll give a special shoutout to 1yr's unique Glowking coverage that I touched on earlier. With Focus Blast, 1yr's Glowking gains the ability to threaten Tyranitar and Kingambit switch ins, as it often has to be very careful in those matchups otherwise as they can disincentivize clicking anything except Chilly Reception in many scenarios, and he still has a tool to pressure foes such as Ferrothorn and Melmetal. Good stuff to 1yr for this fun innovation!

I'll get Week Four out in the next couple days. I apologize for the delay y'all, see you soon!

Week Four is over, so let's get into our usage analysis!

I do apologize for the delays in getting these out, as I'm honestly incredibly overwhelmed irl and Smogon stuff in general has had to take a backseat for me. Hopefully I get to a point where I can start refocusing on Smogon stuff in general next week, but I've thought that for the last two weeks with nothing doing so idk at this point. Either way, I'll try to get these out with more consistency in the future.

Most Used Pokemon :sv/zamazenta:

Zamazenta graced me with a one week respite from writing about it, and apparently that's all I get because it came roaring back with a vengeance this week. With ten appearances, or 42% usage, it was business as usual for our friendly neighborhood glue mon. I'm not going to rehash all the items used on the many 4a Zamazenta appearances again. It was business as usual for that set. A couple interesting moveset tweaks did appear outside of that standard set though. Heavy Slam made two separate appearance on the IDPress set, as players are clearly wary of being halted by Fairies like Tapu Lele. We also saw a very unusual variant of the already rare Howl set courtesy of pixie909, who utilized Rockium Z alongside Stone Edge to slam Flying-types like Zapdos and Tornadus-T while also likely delivering a beefy neutral hit onto Pokemon such as Landorus-T, Gliscor, and Toxapex. It's honestly insane that people do still find ways to innovate with what has been the most common Pokemon for well over a year at this point. It's about the only thing that keeps me sane while writing this section at this point.

Other Pokemon to receive high usage

It was a rather top heavy week in terms of usage, as several Pokemon recorded good usage weeks. Ogerpon Wellspring and Landorus-T led the way for the best of the rest, as they both had seven uses apiece. Interestingly, no Wellspring revealed itself to be SD (although its likely the Trailblaze variant that appeared had it, at the very least) and most of them appeared to be PivotPon or other utility variants, as player continue to value the unique blend of utility and raw offensive pressure that Waterpon provides. Meanwhile, Landorus-T was the most popular Ground-type, although it only came away with one win. It appears that every single one was a defensive set, as Rocky Helmet and Leftovers were the only revealed items and they all packed either Stealth Rock or Defog.

Kyurem continued its good run of usage, as it came away with six appearances. Mega Diancie achieved six appearances as well. Meanwhile Great Tusk and, surprisingly, Mega Scizor got five appearances. Mega Scizor has never achieved this kind of usage even in tournaments with a much larger sample size, so to see it get to 21% usage was not something I was expecting. Even more interestingly, two of these Scizors packed the uncommon Sand Tomb that players use to snipe normally solid checks like Heatran and Toxapex. Definitely fun to see the metal bug getting some more usage!

Highest Ranked Pokemon To Not Be Used :sv/alomomola:

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. When I first started writing analyses for this tournament, I assumed that the low usage for Alomomola was an anomaly created by the small sample size, and that it would eventually rise back up in standing. Instead, the opposite has happened, as the venerable WishFish has become the second A+ Pokemon ever to go an entire week without being used once. So, what's happening here? On the surface, not a whole lot has changed, but I do think that players have gotten much better at taking advantage of Mola within their teambuilding. For one thing, AV Alomomola has gone way down in standing as of late, as players have figured out that it loses most of its efficacy once hazards go down, and the set has gained a (deserved) reputation of being a crutch for lazily built offenses and bulky offenses that find they can't even pretend to switch into Pokemon like Mega Diancie and Gholdengo. Standard WishFish, however, has also gone way down in usage. While the momentum and consistent healing that this set provides is very nice, it does come with some drawbacks that have become easier to exploit at the meta has evolved. Pokemon that Mola has previously used its bulk to handle, such as Garchomp, Great Tusk, and Zamazenta, are running sets that either blast through it with raw power, or, in the case of Garchomp and IDPress Zama, can just set up a Sub and start boosting up as Alomomola finds itself unable to break the subs. The lack of resistances to common attacking types like Fighting, Dark, Fairy, and Dragon has become a big problem as many Pokemon that Alomomola could previously switch into are simply blasting through it now, relegating Mola firmly to "check" territory. I personally believe the continued upswing in Fightinium, IDPress, and Life Orb Zamazenta variants has seriously hurt this set's viability, as switching into standard Zamazenta was a really nice perk to Mola, and now it has to tip toe around it until it knows for sure that its a Heavy-Duty Boots variant. All in all, a surprising downfall for Mola. Let's see if this trend continues as the tournament enters its second half.

Other Pokemon to see low usage

A whopping 29 Pokemon received two uses or less this week, so I'm not going to dwell too much on any of them individually. The most surprising of these by far is Garchomp, who received a paltry one usage after having a really solid tournament up until this point. Gliscor also continued with its trend of somewhat mediocre usage, as it also only appeared once. Ferrothorn, Cinderace, Toxapex, and Corviknight were other highly ranked denizens of the unfortunate one appearance club, while Mega Latios, Kingambit, Iron Treads, and Mega Lopunny all only appeared twice. While it doesn't technically qualify for this section, I do have to mention that Gholdengo only appeared three times, which is a very poor week by its lofty standards.

The UR Pokemon :sv/grimmsnarl:

Once again we only had one UR Pokemon appear, as electraineheart brought out Grimmsnarl as an alternative dual screen setter instead of the standard Zamazenta. Grimmsnarl is generally not preferred for this role, but priority Screens+Taunt makes it perfectly suited for it if you want a change of pace and feel you really need to confirm screens go up first. Well done to electriane to getting the W with this offbeat choice!

Some cool sets that I wanted to highlight

electraineheart's SubCM Iron Crown and Meat Beam Glimmora
:sv/iron crown: :sv/glimmora:

This was easily the most off the wall team of the week, as electraine's choice of sweepers was also unconventional. The Iron Crown packed Substitute, Calm Mind, Psychic Noise, and Focus Blast. SubCM is not super popular on most Iron Crown sets, as it neuters its already flawed coverage. However, with Booster Energy and Psychic Noise, this set can disrupt offenses with speed+substitute, and it can mess with defensive cores it can't break itself. Meanwhile, electraine's Glimmora obsession continued in a different way, as her Glimmora attempted to wallbreak using the rare but very powerful Meteor Beam set. Well done to electraine to piloting such an odd team to the win!

Sealoo's Heavy Slam Heatran :sv/heatran:

Heatran generally hasn't been running much Steel STAB at all as of late, but Sealoo went with a different approach to checking Fairy-types. Potentially looking to trap and hit Tapu Lele if it tried to set up, Heavy Slam gives Heatran a physical move that can help it in situations where it doesn't immediately threaten too much damage, and it can also be used to catch Pokemon like Mega Diancie on the switch. This didn't end up working out in game, but well done to Sealoo for trying out this little innovation!

See you all next week!
