Double Dance (Groudon) @ Red Orb
Ability: Drought
EVs: 140 HP / 252 Atk / 116 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Rock Polish
- Swords Dance
- Precipice Blades
- Stone Edge / Heat Crash

[SET COMMENTS]
  • Primal Groudon's huge Attack and great defensive profile make it a fantastic wallbreaker and sweeper with Swords Dance and Rock Polish.
  • Stone Edge hits Flying-types such as Ho-Oh and Mega Salamence. Heat Crash is an alternative that provides a perfectly accurate STAB option boosted by Desolate Land that hits certain foes harder than Precipice Blades, such as Ferrothorn and Xerneas, though running it leaves Primal Groudon unable to hit foes such as Giratina-O for neutral damage. However, most Fire-resistant Flying-types, like Ho-Oh and Mega Salamence, still take heavy damage from Heat Crash.
  • The given EV spread maximizes Primal Groudon's Attack while providing just enough Speed to outspeed Choice Scarf Xerneas and Yveltal after using Rock Polish, with the rest being dumped into HP to increase its bulk.
  • Primal Groudon best fits on offense teams looking for a powerful threat that can act as a sweeper or wallbreaker depending on the situation. Typically, it should use Swords Dance against defensive teams and Rock Polish against offensive teams. Primal Groudon's ability, typing, and bulk also let it check some foes in a pinch, like Primal Kyogre, Xerneas, and Arceus.
  • Entry hazard setters such as Deoxys-S can help chip Primal Groudon's checks, such as Zygarde-C and Arceus-Ground, into KO range. Grimmsnarl can provide dual screens support to help Primal Groudon set up, sometimes even allowing it to set up both Swords Dance and Rock Polish. Both of those teammates carry Taunt, which can stop the opposing team from setting up hazards, making it easier for Primal Groudon to set up.
  • Offensive teammates such as Mega Salamence and Zacian-C can help Primal Groudon's team maintain offensive pressure, either by breaking holes for it or by taking advantage of the holes it makes.
  • Certain physically bulky Ground-types, such as Arceus-Ground and Zygarde-C, can beat Primal Groudon one-on-one and sometimes even set up alongside it. Primal Kyogre is effective at handling these foes, while Flying-types like Yveltal and Mega Salamence can switch into them in a pinch.

  • Primal Groudon's huge Attack and great defensive profile make it a fantastic wallbreaker with Swords Dance and sweeper with Rock Polish
  • Stone Edge hits Flying-types such as Ho-Oh and Yveltal. Heat crash hits Yveltal harder than stone edge, so I’m not sure if it’s worth mentioning stone edge for Yveltal. Heat Crash is an alternative that provides a perfectly accurate STAB option that hits certain foes harder than Precipice Blades, such as Ferrothorn and Xerneas, though running it leaves Primal Groudon unable to hit certain foes such as Ho-Oh, Mega Salamence, and Giratina-O for neutral damage. “For neutral damage” feels pretty weirdly worded. Ho-Oh still takes 90%+ from a +2 heat crash, so I would reword “for neutral damage” to something else and remove ho-oh from the list.
  • The EV spread maximizes Primal Groudon's Attack while providing just enough Speed to outspeed Choice Scarf Xerneas and Yveltal after Rock Polish, with the rest being dumped into HP to increase Primal Groudon's bulk. It’s also worth mentioning that the speed after rock polish outruns both Rayquaza and Kyurem Black after 1 dragon dance
  • Primal Groudon best fits on offense teams looking for a powerful threat that can double as a sweeper or wallbreaker depending on the situation. Typically, it should use Swords Dance against defensive teams, and Rock Polish against offensive teams.
  • Entry hazard setters such as Deoxys-S can help wear Primal Groudon's checks Such as? into KO range. Grimmsnarl can provide dual screen support to help Primal Groudon set up, sometimes even allowing it to set up both Swords Dance and Rock Polish. Should be QC 1/2

Trial QC, don't QC 2/2 until a proper QC member corroborates

Quite good work TBH.

You still have yet to mention that after a Rock Polish it also outspeeds Kyurem-B and Rayquaza after a Dragon Dance per the previous QC
  • Primal Groudon best fits on offense teams looking for a powerful threat that can double as a sweeper or wallbreaker depending on the situation. Typically, it should use Swords Dance against defensive teams, and Rock Polish against offensive teams. Mention some of its innate defensive utility to at times come into foes such as Primal Kyogre

I'm a proper QC member now, so I can self-stamp the previous QC, there was quite little to potentially add/edit as this was really good.

You may now push this to QC 2/2

a bit late to qc now but a quick pre-gp suggestion
Heat Crash is an alternative that provides a perfectly accurate STAB option enhanced by Desolate Land that hits certain foes harder than Precipice Blades, such as Ferrothorn and Xerneas, though running it leaves Primal Groudon unable to hit foes such as Giratina-O for neutral damage. However, most Fire-resistant Flying-types like Ho-Oh and Mega Salamence still take heavy damage from Heat Crash.
252+ Atk Groudon Heat Crash (100 BP) vs. 248 HP / 204+ Def Ho-Oh in Sun: 80-95 (19.2 - 22.8%) -- possible 5HKO this isnt heavy damage and the sentence is misleading // 252+ Atk Groudon Heat Crash (120 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Salamence-Mega in Sun: 95-112 (28.7 - 33.8%) -- 1.3% chance to 3HKO. I recommend rewording this to something like:
"Heat Crash is an alternative that provides a perfectly accurate STAB option enhanced by Desolate Land that hits certain foes harder than Precipice Blades, such as Ferrothorn and Xerneas, though running it leaves Primal Groudon unable to hit foes such as Giratina-O and Ho-Oh for neutral damage. However, most Fire-resistant Flying-types like Ho-Oh and Mega Salamence still take heavy damage gets 2HKOed from +2 Heat Crash.
Primal Groudon's huge Attack and great defensive profile make it a fantastic wallbreaker with Swords Dance and sweeper with Rock Polish.
I would also reword this sentence to smth like "Primal Groudon's huge Attack and great defensive profile make it a fantastic wallbreaker and sweeper with Swords Dance and sweeper with Rock Polish" technically sd also makes it a setup sweeper and the original sounded like sd is slashed with rp, which isnt the case

You need to calc PDon, which gets STAB and is heavier

252+ Atk Groudon-Primal Heat Crash (120 BP) vs. 248 HP / 204+ Def Ho-Oh in Harsh Sunshine: 166-196 (40 - 47.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

252+ Atk Groudon-Primal Heat Crash (120 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Salamence-Mega in Harsh Sunshine: 165-194 (49.8 - 58.6%) -- 99.6% chance to 2HKO

I'll add the second change sure
