Is there a help thread anywhere having difficulty finding one and also how can i get notified if someone posts on my thread sorry if this is in the wrong place thanks for your time

Ask a simple question, get a simple answer, in Stark Mountain, is usually used for questions about the forum workings - though it is primarily intended for Pokemon-related questions.

When you post, if you are using the full posting page (not the quick reply), the should be a part that says

Thread Subscription

Notification Type:

Do not subscribe

Change 'do not subscribe' to the email notification option you want.
