New and "creative" moveset/EV spread thread "Mark 2"

I updated the set.

Thanks for the advice.

You're welcome, but no need to take my opinion as gospel. Some of those other options you mentioned are still very much viable, and some people might actually prefer them.

I've actually done a bit more thinking since I made that post, and I found that a more balanced spread with 252 HP / 212 SpA / 44 Spe Modest allows you to outrun and 2HKO max HP / Sp Def Clefable 100% of the time with Focus Blast, assuming both hit and Clefable is holding a Toxic Orb. Also has a small chance to OHKO the standard Steelix, and Ampharos is still fairly bulky with max HP, especially if using one of the screens. Obviously not the best spread for all situations, but worth a mention I guess.

Oh one more thing. Your spread has 100 too many EVs. I'm assuming it should be 80 Defense instead of 180. EDIT: or perhaps 76 Sp Def instead of 176.

Personally I think Jolteon is better off passing Magnet Rises to pokemon like Tyranitar, Metagross and Heatran.

Imagine, Tyranitar's best counter, Hippowdon, unable to hit it while it DDs up. Epic win.

Except that Hippowdon gets Superpower now which will still OHKO. But it could still be useful if you've found out that they aren't carrying it, which some won't if they are using Hippowdon for support instead of tanking.

Who's going to put Superpower on Hippowdon... and get walled completely by any flying type :/

To OHKO Tyranitar which Earthquake cannot do without almost max Attack if at all? Plus I did say it would only be for pure tank sets, i.e. three attacks plus Slack Off (Stealth Rock is not mandatory on Hippo), as it would be pure stupidity to not carry Ice Fang in a metagame where Salamence is one of the most, if not the most threatening Pokemon.

Superpower would be a pretty overspecializing move to use if it was only for Tyranitar, but it can be useful for many other situations. It can OHKO Weavile, and 2HKO Mamoswine, Blissey, Snorlax etc, all Pokemon that Hippowdon is capable of taking a hit or two from despite the super effectiveness. There is also the potential for a surprise kill or severe dent into any Abomasnow that thinks it can easily switch in to change the weather. Oh, and of course Magnet Rising Jolteon and other frail Electrics who think they are now safe with their new technique. Far from a gimmick IMO.

Can we stop turning this thread into a thread about platinum move sets!
Anyways, can someone tell me where the reflect raikou set is?

Superpower is a waste for a pokemon like Hippodown. Lowering it's two main stats is less than appreciable.

agreed. This is what the numerous platinum threads are for.

Raikou@Leftovers / Lum Berry
Pressure
40 HP/ 252 SpA / 216 Spe
Timid Nature
~ Calm Mind
~ThunderBolt
~ Reflect
~ HP Grass / HP Ice

I believe that is the Raikou reflect set. That's only because I got it off the RS Analysis though.

Yeah, but it seems kinda counter-productive for a tank to be lowering it's own defense. Superpower seems much more potent when it is used by fast sweepers screwing up walls, rather than a tank trying to kill a few things.

Here's a Celebi set I thought up recently. It has had one battle, and it was OKAY, so a little more testing is needed.

Celebi @ Light Clay
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP/80 Def/176 Spd
Timid nature
~ Reflect
~ Light Screen
~ U-turn
~ Recover

Dual Screen Celebi, in the same vein as Deoxys and Bronzong. What it offers though, is better overall defenses over the former, and better speed over the latter. By utilising U-Turn, it can effectively "pass" reflect and light screen to a team member. Recover is mostly filler, but offers increased survivability. The EVs given are max HP, enough speed to outrun +Speed Luke, and the rest thrown in defense.

Forgot about Jirachi. It can wishpass as well. Celebi does offer instant recovery though, I suppose that's the only reason to use it over Jirachi.

Forretress @ Light Clay
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 212 SpD / 46 Def
Careful Nature (+SpD, -SpA)
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Spikes
- Explosion

This is a new Forretress set that I've been experimenting with, with pretty good results. The idea is to support the team with Spikes and screens support, and it can Explode when it's done. However, this isn't meant to be played like a suicide lead, it's still meant to be durable like other Forretress sets and switch in and out repeatedly.

Does it work any better than bronzong?

Thanks, I've been looking for that.

I love the idea of MixKrow but I need a little more help with the moveset. But anyways I've decided to post it here just to show that Honchkrow definately got a good boost.

[SET]
name: MixKrow
move 1: Dark Pulse / Sucker Punch
move 2: Superpower
move 3: Heat Wave
move 4: Icy Wind / Dark Pulse
item: Life Orb / Expert Belt / Focus Sash
nature: Hasty / Naive
EVs: 20 Atk / 252 SAtk / 232 Spe

This beats neutral base 80s which is significant enough EVs. The moveset is difficult to decide but this set works wonders if you use a little bit of prediction as well as concentrating on the late-game. Superpower will destroy Tyranitar, Blissey, and Heatran and is the only reason why it's listed here. Heat Wave of course destroys Skarmory and other Steel-types. Whether you prefer the priority move or a reliable attack from the special spectrum is up to you. Remember that Superpower will cut into the use of Sucker Punch so try not to use it as much as you can. Icy Wind can help against switch-ins to give a free Speed drop but Dark Pulse and Sucker Punch still work well together.

There are other moves to consider so I'm going to list them without making the set look more sloppy: Hidden Power Grass, Electric, and Ground help against Swampert, Gyarados, and Heatran respectively. Night Slash and Drill Peck are also good options to consider here as well.
