New Idea for a Manectric Set

Hi

Ive just had a new idea for a Manectric set, and have tested it on Shoddy and it works.

Manectric @ Leftovers/Wide Lens/Petaya Berry
Timid

Thunderbolt/Thunder
HP Ice
Substitute
Hyperbeam

The most common switch in to Manectric are Lanturn, Camerupt and Quagsire, as it has Volt Absorb, and resists the usual Electric/Ice/Fire Sets. HOWEVER, Hyper Beam can often do over 50% Damage to Lanturn, and around 90% to Camerupt and Quagsire.

Whilst Hyper Beam is often a "Suicide move", I have a strategy with it.

Either lead with Manectric, or switch into something that WILL switch out, and on the switch, Substitute.

Then, you can Hyper Beam, doing a large amount of Damage to the 3 most likely switch ins (Lanturn, Quagsire and Camerupt). The BEST method with this is if Lanturn switches in, as none of Lanturns moves are SE against Manectric, and have less chance of breaking the Substitute. Quagsire and Camerupt (Camerupt in particular) probrably WILL break the substitute, and catch you on the recharge, BUT you will have done a substantial amount of damage to them.

Therefore, in most cases, you survive the Recharge, as you have a Substitute to take the damage.

Thunder is there if you are worried about Grumpig/Hypno, and can 2HKO. Wide Lens is to compensate for Thunder's accuracy.

Without the BIG Threat (Lanturn, Grumpig, Hypno, Camerupt and Quagsire), you can, effectively, pull off a clean sweep.

You should just pack Hp Grass to deal with Quagstire and Lanturn. Hp Ice is more of an OU thing.

You need to have damage calculations.

You should only run Hyperbeam on Manectric of you are Choicing it, other wise go with Flamethrower, Hp Grass, Thunderbolt, Sub. You can at least take out Altaria in three shots with Thunderbolt if it switches in while your are behind a sub.

Boltbeam hits a lot, so HP Ice seems to make sense.

Anyways, without it, DDAltaria will just EQ you.
Then have a flying poke. It's like you want to prove someone with probably more experience wrong. If you want to introduce a new set, listen to what people have to say. Even if the idea isn't yours, it doesn't mean that the idea isn't good.

Hyper Beam is basically a suicide move, but it can do around 50% to Lanturn, and up to 90% against Camerupt and Quagsire.

Look familiar? Those calculations are for a Choice Specs Manectric, so he won't be getting close to those numbers with only a Life Orb. Nor will Hyper Beam actually help in any way, other than helping Camerupt kill Manectric due to the the recharge turn. It is only listed on the Choice Specs set due to Manectric's incredibly shallow movepool.

If you want to post a set, make sure the thread includes the following:
1. Thought
2. Effort
Your original post contains neither of those.
