Swampert (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 240 HP/252 Def/4 Spd/12 SDef
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Ice Beam
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Electric]
I lead off with a pretty basic Swampert, and although Bronzong leads are incredibly common, and I am forced out more often than not, I don't really have any pokemon who would be better in this position. Swampert is a pretty important member of this team, as Stealth Rock helps me manage things like Gyarados and Salamence. He also provides me with a pretty good switch in to Tyranitar and Garchomp, and a decent counter to Deoxys-E.
Lucario (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk) / Jolly
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Extremespeed
- Bullet Punch
Yeah, I'm sure everybody has seen this before. I started off with Crunch, but after not using it in about 10 battles, I decided Bullet Punch was the better choice. I just had a battle where, after Heatran died I couldn't take down a Celebi, so Crunch may come back, but Bullet Punch has been working great so far. So yes, basically Lucario is a monster and provides very useful insurance against things like Gengar and Infernape, if I can get them low enough. Lucario is probably the member I'm most unsure of, because while often he finishes matches for me, sometimes he turns into a dead weight, because I'm unable to set him up.
Heatran (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Ice] / [Grass]
- Overheat
- Flamethrower / Explosion
Choice Scarf Heatran is pretty underrated in my opinion, and is very helpful to this team, because the surprise factor he carries can often allow me to quickly dispatch of a big threat like Gengar or Garchomp. His Overheat hits massively hard, even against things that resist it, which is very useful for crippling offensive Gyaradoses switching in on Stealth Rock, because they end up taking like ~70% combined, which is within Lucario's Extremespeed kill range. So far Heatran has been an important member of the team, and has been very useful for switching into Gengar Shadow Balls.
Garchomp (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Outrage
- Fire Fang
Choice Band Garchomp is just a monster. It 2HKOs just about every pokemon in the game with at least one of its moves. This guy is useful for crippling something like Gliscor with a CBOutrage, possibly putting him in Lucario SDed Extremespeed range, which is usually gg. I much prefer Jolly nature so that I know that I always outspeed Salamence, Zapdos and Lucario, and can feel confident in revenge killing them. Most opponent Garchomps seem to be Adamant, and I can check by running calculations, so he also gives me another option for revenge killing opposing Garchomps.
Deoxys-S @ Expert Belt
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 20 Atk/236 Spd/252 SAtk
Rash nature (+SAtk, -SDef)
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Psychic / Shadow Ball
- Superpower
Most games I play seem to revolve around eliminating my opponents Metagross/Bronzong so that Deoxys can come out and tear stuff up. Expert Belt is over Life Orb, because I have seen from experience that Life Orb Deoxys can be pretty easy to stall out, or atleast stall into the kill range of a priority move, which is what I usually do when I'm against LO Deoxys. Expert Belt usually hits hard enough. I don't really care enough about Scarf Gengar to run a +Speed nature, considering at worst he kills something then gives Lucario a free setup.
Zapdos @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP/216 Def/40 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Roost
- Thunder Wave / U-turn
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Thunderbolt
Zapdos rounds out the team by providing some key resistances, namely to Fighting and Bug, and slowing down offensive threats when possible. Although the team is pretty fast already, it is nice to catch things like Deoxys-S and Gengar, not to mention if I can paralyze Togekiss it becomes nearly useless. Even still, Thunder Wave isn't really the most useful move, and I have been considering U-turn or even Toxic. U-turn is what I'm most interested in, because it's awesome to U-turn into a Celebi switch, doing a pretty big chunk of health, and going right to Heatran or even Garchomp if Celebi is damaged enough.
Anyway, as you can see, this team could be alot better, and I'm looking for opinions on how to do that, so... yeah, you guys know what to do.
