This is an UU team a buddy of mine and I created. We wanted balance and, overall, a good number of resistances. It is a pretty balanced team with 2 walls, 3 sweepers and a lead. It doesn't really focus on any one Pokemon sweeping, but rather the whole team contributing in different ways to the overall good of the team. So, without further ado, here's the team!
Now, lets get to the sets :)
Uxie @ Leftovers
Ability:Levitate
Evs:252Hp/4Atk/252Def
Nature:Impish
~Stealth Rock
~Thunder Wave
~U-Turn
~Zen Headbutt
This is the pretty standard non-scarf lead Uxie and if not, then it should be. We get up rocks the majority of the time. Then, depending on the opposing lead, we react accordingly. If it can be a threat later on, Thunder Wave is the obvious choice. If we can see a switch coming, or just want to scout period, we use U-turn. Zen Headbutt is there for the STAB and for Fighting Pokemon.
Hitmontop @ Leftovers
Adamant Nature
Technican
252 HP / 252 Attack / 4 Speed
~Fake Out
~Mach Punch
~Bullet Punch
~Rapid Spin
Went with the set suggested by Shnoogle. This set allows Hitmontop to act as the teams revenge killer, as opposed to a special wall. While the set I had before was a nice idea, it just couldn't get the job done.
milotic @ leftovers
Ability:Marvel Scale
Evs:252 HP / 200 Def / 56 SpD
Nature:calm
~ rest
~ sleeptalk
~ surf
~ Hp Grass/Toxic
This set was suggested by swampmargo and has literally won a few matches for me. When it comes down to this Milotic vs a physical attacker as the last two Pokemon, if I'm sleeping, Milotic wins(unless that Pokemon is Venusaur). So, although I lose some resistances, this set is better suited with this team IMO.
Registeel @ Leftovers
Ability:Clear Body
Evs:252Hp/100Atk/156SpD
Nature:Impish
~rest
~Sleep Talk
~Curse
~Iron Head
Registeel completes my defensive core with Milotic. His moveset I'm not too sure about, but he has proved itself worthy in a few battles. Iron Head gets a nice STAB boost, Seismic Toss is mainly there to break subs and hit Pokemon the other two moves can't hit hard enough. Earthquake is the for opposing Registeel and anything else weak to it.
Arcanine @ Leftovers
Ability:Flash Fire
Evs:4Def/252Atk/252Spe
Nature:Adamant
~Flare Blitz
~Extreme Speed
~Will-o-Wisp
~Morning Sun
He fills the spot on my team that was taken by Houndoom. I chose to run Arcanine>Houndoom because Houndoom just wasn't bulky enough for this team. Arcanine also has access to a recovery move in the form of Morning Sun. Extreme Speed doesn't gain STAB like Houndoom's Sucker Punch does, but the opposing Pokemon doesn't have to be attacking either. I'm not really sure about keeping WoW on this guy or not.
Venusaur @ Life Orb
Ability:Overgrow
Evs:4Hp/252Atk/252Spe
Nature:Jolly
~Synthesis
~Swords Dance
~Seed Bomb
~Return
This is our main Physical attacker after Poliwrath softens up the opponents team. After a Swords Dance and once the opponents team is hurt a bit, he can deal some extremely heavy damage to just about everything. We had Earthquake, but we couldn't touch Flying Pokemon, so we used Body Slam, which also gets the helpful paralysis every now and then that Venusaur likes since he isn't the fastest kid on the block. Synthesis is for recovery, but we are thinking about getting rid of it for Earthquake so we aren't walled by the likes of Registeel and company.
Ending Thoughts:
So, theres the team. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated :)
Thinking of ways to better counter Venusaur.
Threats:
After some testing, the main threat to this team is stall. Need suggestions on how to edit my team allowing it to fair better vs stall.
This team has problems with Altaria.
TEAM BUILDING PROCESS:
Well, for starters, we knew that we wanted the F/W/G core as it provided a nice array of resistances right off the bat. Now, for the Grass we used the most used Pokemon in the UU metagame, Venusaur. Water, we wanted something that hits extremely hard and can support the team. We decided on Poliwrath, as he has one of the strongest Focus Punches in the UU and he can literally absorb water attacks. For the fire, we knew that we had already put ourselves in a hole with two Psychic weaknesses, so our choice was obvious, Houndoom.
Next, we needed two walls. It started off, Torterra and Spiritomb, as Torterra was good vs. Pokemon with Earthquake and Stone Edge and Spiritomb was our status absorber with no weaknesses. We then had a problem with two Pokemon, Scyther and Houndoom. Which we searched for two Pokemon that could not only handle thiem, buy more. We cam upon Registeel and Hitmontop.
Now, we needed a lead. We wanted a Pokemon that could help out the team in more ways than just putting up Stealth Rocks. In other words, we didn't want a suicide lead at all. We chose the bulky Uxie, as it can not only set up rocks, but Paralyze and come back in later to provide more defense for our team.
