Week 5
1591050604305.gif

This week, we will take you to the skies with our new #1: Charizard. It is good on sun teams due to Solar Power, making it a powerful wallbreaker and hard to outspeed. This is the analysis. You may now begin submitting. By the way since it is the 5th week, it is a double round, so newcomers, you have a chance to become top 1 or top 2! You have until Friday (+8) to submit.

Eggs

some days, you just can't get rid of an egg
Presenting Physically Defensive Charizard.

Charizard @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Def / 216 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Will-O-Wisp
- Roost
- Flamethrower
- Defog / Roar

I've never seen a Zard pack Wisp before, and it's an amazing move. Charizard also has a great defensive typing and speed tier that allows it to outspeed and burn pokemon such as Gallade, Braviary, Silvally, and Drapion. Most opponents are going to expect the toxic, and Will-O-Wisp is a nice way to spice things up and deal with many physical attackers and switch ins.

252 Atk Gallade Zen Headbutt vs. 252 HP / 40 Def Charizard: 150-177 (41.6 - 49.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 Atk Silvally-Ghost Multi-Attack vs. 252 HP / 40 Def Charizard: 186-219 (51.6 - 60.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Copperajah Heavy Slam (120 BP) vs. 252 HP / 40 Def Charizard: 188-222 (52.2 - 61.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Zard can switch in, burn, and then proceed to win the 1v1, as none of these pokemon can 2HKO through a burn.

Sub Belly drum charizard:

Charizard @ Salac Berry
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
IVs: 30 HP
- Acrobatics
- Fire Punch
- Substitute
- Belly Drum

This set is on I ran on offensive teams. The main goal of this set is a late game sweeper and it also heavily punishes opponents that think it's a typical defog zard. Defensive waters that can tank even a solar power solar beam crumble to a +6 acrobatics. Even your classic snorlax switch in is destroyed by it. However rhydon still walls you so remove it before trying to sweep and weaken mons like mudsdale. 30 HP ivs activates salad berry after 1 sub + bd.

Here are a few replays that I got with it.

I dont want to undermine what u did but running EQ over fire punch is a lot better since you hit rock types like don and fire punch doesnt hit anything that acro and eq doesnt. I was gonna make a post for this with bd zard but u beat me to it

Announcement!

After this week, we will be stopping RU Next Best Thing until the next tier shifts so that RU can settle in on the metagame. RU is a fast paced tier and I want RU to settle down for a bit after the 1st DLC then we can continue.

Week 6

:ss/exeggutor-alola:

Let’s kick off post-DLCs with Alolan Exeggutor! One of the mons brought back through DLCs, it has decent Special Attack, but pretty bad Speed. Can you utilize its Special Attack well? Let’s find out!

Banned Set:

Exeggutor-Alola @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Harvest
EVs: 92 HP / 252 SpA / 164 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Substitute
- Ancient Power
- Energy Ball
- Flamethrower

Alright I came up with a set that capitalizes on the switches the tree forces on common defensive moms like vaporeon and mudsdale, while also protecting it from status. The speed investment is to outspeed neutral speed Alolan Sandslash, vaporeon and the popular vileplume set, with the rest to maximize on SPA and HP. This set works by bluffing specs and setting a sub while the oppenent switches, easing prediction for the user and allowing it to just sit and watch everything slower die, preferably mid to late game when its checks/ fast stuff are weakened.

The cherry on the top for this set, is however, the use of ancient power>sludgebomb, trading the ability to dent Aromatisse to maul centi and char. You can also use it to omniboost, but its unreliable 10% is too slim of a chance to abuse well.

Obviously Triple Axel kick and Aromatisse are a pain to deal with:psysad:,so pair this up with a fire type to take resisted hits.

Ok, this may seem counterintuitive, but I present you: speedy eggy

Exeggutor-Alola @ Life Orb
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 116 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 136 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Leaf Storm
- Draco Meteor
- Sleep Powder
- Synthesis

This set focuses on speed creeping other eggies (specially on trick room) and suporting the team with sleep powder, as it forces so many switches. Right now you only need your STAB to hit almost the entire tier, as the only relevant steel type (Duralodon) melts to draco meteor.
Speed allows it to outspeed base 60's like jellicent (can be more to outspeed vaporeon before it toxics you), with maximum investment in special attack. Synthesis allows you to remain healthy trough the match, and with the amount of switches you force, there are plenty of oportunities to abuse it.

Since there aren’t any more submissions, I’ll start voting now. You have two submissions to vote on.

Week 7
:ss/mudsdale:

Mudsdale is one of the best walls RU has to offer. It’s high Defence coupled with an amazing ability in Stamina make it a nuisance for physical attackers. Deadline is next week! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE submit.

Banned Set:

Stealth Rock

Aquarius Ghost ❤

Banned deucer.
Mudsdale @ Leftovers
Ability: Stamina
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Substitute
- Toxic
- Protect
- Earthquake

This set is basically like the subtoxic lazzle set. Mainly focuses on intoxicating the opponent then sub spam, however mudsdale's lack of speed rlly makes this set a bit ineffective. Thats the main reason I added 252+ speed to out speed non heal bell vaps, also for rhydon, p2, alola sandslash(non invested speed), claydol. This set provides a great amount of pressure for the opponents slow teams.
