Next DS Pokemon game?

I don't play Wi-Fi that much, but I would sure enjoy to play G/S like the old days, which I think they have a better story (Map and being able to go to Kanto) was the better than R/S/E and D/P

I hope gamefreak, gamefreak, etc. would read this..

I would buy it so fast, things like actualy SRing for suicune! lugia and ho-oh! Elemental punches! E-speed Dragonite would dominate!

16 badges, CELEBI, and the best story line EVER, not to mention the dragon cave, maybe a lati / rayquaza SRing spot.. Hmm..

Oh I forgot about that. They better fucking include Celebi. I dont want to only get it via events.

Also which iyo was better: Gold or Silver. I think Gold version was the only way to get Sacred Fire Ho-Oh, while Silver was the only way to get Auroura Beam Lugia. Which is the better pay-off iyo?

I will probably get the silver remake for Lugias uber walling ability, and the fact that it wont take 50% from SR if they dont nerf it.

2.) It was easy to clone. Nowadays it's either AR or some weird glitch

If they make a remake, they're going to fix the cloning glitch.

Anyway I love GS, my favorite pokemon game by far. I love almost everything about it - the music, the plotline, the lack of all the EVs and bullshit... I even like how the menus take longer to load, it reminds me of the old days, before RS. If they remake it, I think I would still enjoy playing the original versions more, just for the nostalgia.

I like Crystal more than Silver and Gold. Maybe because it was the first 2nd Gen game I got and the first game I bought for my own money. Oh I remember those great times where I spent the whole night playing through it. I love my Ho-oh there =)

But I certainly hope they make a remake of the G/S/C Generation and I hope they don't screw it up somehow. ^^;;

I'm a bit skeptical about this naming, although I do believe that there will be a remake of the two games. I'd imagine that they would be called:

Dawn Gold
Dusk Silver

If the Brass Tower is the tower of birth (Dawn), then it seems that it would be associated with Gold, which is a similar color to Brass than Gold.

Since the Tin Tower is the place of death, it would go with Dusk and the color Silver more closely resembles Tin.

You'll have to plug your cell phone into your DS to get Celebi...hahaha...

At the moment, Sacred Fire > Aeroblast, but the move relearner solves that problem handily. In a remake it would not matter.

Hopefully, if they remake G/S, they will incorporate most of the extra features from Emerald inside (Buena's Password!). An retrained Elite Four after Kanto would be good too.

Pokemon actually didnt give EV's in that era? Competitive battling must have been a hell of a lot simpler.

Dont forget the remake will have the newer pokemon, along with EV's.

Also I forget the plotline... didnt the three tower pokemon escape... but was team rocket involved?

Back in GSC, "Effort Values" did exist. What didn't exist was the 510 cap on EV values. Of course, the best pokemon for any situation was max IVs, and max EVs for every stat.

Which is probably why stalling was so common back then... (I wasn't competitive till D/P, but historically speaking it was supposedly a very stally game). When you can dedicate 252 EVs to 3 defensive stats, one of which effects both defenses... and only 252 EVs to each attack stat... it is quite clear the advantage is to the defender.

I searched here and it gave me nothing - although "FireRed" doesn't show up as a trademark either so... maybe someone can dig through this

But a search in google links to this article that was written in july of last year that might have triggered this DuskGold stuff.

"Remember the second generation of Pokémon gaming, a little land buy the name of Johto; well for now this land is lost."

Wow, he can't even spell by. Pathetic. To me, he loses credibility just with that.

Come on guys, I can't even remember when I learned to spell by... or if I ever misspelled it.

The FireRed part is a good point... but is that article the earliest? It doesn't even mention that Nintendo has trademarked/copyrighted the name.

EDIT: Because I'm not 100% confident in my own ability of legal issues, I decided to check the US Copyright Office. Here is the Copyright on FireRed (which protects the game, not the name).

There is no such Copyrights on Pokemon DuskGold or Pokemon DawnSilver. IIRC, the game actually has to be made before it can be copyrighted... so it doesn't make sense for the copyright to apply right now anyway (assuming the game is in production). But just in case anyone wants to check the US Copyright office for copyrights anyway... there is my research on that issue.

Game names are often copyrighted before they are made. Great case in point is the Tales of series where Namco copyrights three names every time they're going to make a game and choose one.

You can't copyright a name

US Copyright Office said:
Copyright does not protect names, titles, slogans, or short phrases. In some cases, these things may be protected as trademarks. Contact the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, 800-786-9199, for further information. However, copyright protection may be available for logo artwork that contains sufficient authorship. In some circumstances, an artistic logo may also be protected as a trademark.

-----EDIT------

Further, you cannot copyright a game that hasn't been made yet.

Copyright is secured automatically when the work is created, and a work is “created” when it is fixed in a copy or phonorecord for the first time.
Perhaps you mean trademark. But if so... this trademark / copyright confusion is only adding to the evidence that this is a false rumor IMO.

I actually hope they remake Crystal instead of gold and silver. Crystal was in my opinion the best of the three.

That said I wouldn't mind if they did make gold and silver remakes. There are many positves about remakes. Elemental Punches move tutors, 16 badges, soft resetting for Suicune, eggs with dizzy punch egg moves, red gyrados, ho-oh and lugia available without events, extremespeed dragonite and celebi.

The only question is how would they incorporate whirlpool into the game? Whirlpool was an hm back then but it's not anymore.

They fixed the cloning glitch by making it so you don't have to save when you switch boxes.

So it's been a non-factor since Ruby/Sapphire's release. Of course, there's always a new glitch...

All they would have to do is make it HM 09 or something, considering that you can't trade HM's between games.

Relating to what Blue Harvest said, given how they didn't really change the appearance charts greatly for FireRed and LeafGreen, it is unlikely that they will change them for Dusk or Dawn. Diamond and Pearl really had the potential to be that game, where at the beginning you could choose any of the fliers to serve your team...but they failed. It's been so long since I fought level 3 Ratata's that it almost feels nostalgic to think about it...

The other disadvantage to having a great diversity of pokemon is a loss of EV training maps in the field.
