Welcome to the second iteration of the NFE Classic! This tournament features individual cups in ADV, DPP, and BW, culminating in a seeded, single-elimination playoffs where players duke it out for the grand title.​

The tournament begins with three separate cups: the ADV NFE Cup, the DPP NFE Cup, and the BW NFE Cup. Each of these cups will be best-of-three and single-elimination. Points will be awarded based on players' performances in each of these cups, following the standard Smogon points system (as seen in such tours as the Smogon Grand Slam and Classic). Once all three cups are over, the top 8 players with the most total points will advance to the playoffs. These playoffs will be single-elimination and seeded, meaning that the 1st seed will play the 8th seed, the 2nd seed will play the 7th seed, and so on. In each set, the higher seed will pick the tier for game 1. The loser will then pick the tier for the subsequent game.

Each of the individual cups will be hosted here, on the "Unofficial Circuits" subforum. Hosts are allowed to play in their cups as long as all administrative decisions involving them are made by a neutral third party (probably me). The cups are as follows, alongside their hosts and when signups will be posted:
Feel free to pop any questions you may have in this thread, and I will do my best to respond. Do not sign up in this thread. Signing up for any of the individual cups will automatically sign you up for the larger tournament. Best of luck to all competitors!

heyyyy this is my first smogon tournament so my question might sound a bit dumb… but where do i see when the tournament starts/ who I’m up against? I don’t have discord, is this a problem?

There are no dumb questions! Rounds will be posted right here on Smogon every week. You will receive a notification (much like the one you should receive once I post this reply) that will take you to a thread similar to this one. You'll get your matchups there and continue with the standard scheduling procedures which you can find here.

thank you so much! also yea I do have another question.. will i have to reach out to my opponent to fight or will there be a set time for the match? I’m sure it’s already written down somewhere but there’s a lot of information and I sadly can’t find an answer to this question. thank you in advance!

You'll schedule a time with your opponent on their Smogon wall (which is the profile you see when you click on someone's username). Just provide your time zone and availability, and you guys can come to an agreement on when works for both of you :)
 
hey it’s me again.. Someone just messaged me and I’m pretty confused by what they mean.. it seems to be related to this tournament, the image is all they texted me

This is, unfortunately, how scheduling goes sometimes. I recommend you:
  • Post on your opponent's Smogon wall and carry out all scheduling there rather than in DMs. This makes everything public, allowing hosts to view the full conversation should they need to make an activity call.
  • Let your opponent know your timezone and your availability / when you would like to play. There are a few examples on their wall already that you can follow.
