Nintendo Tournement Doubles [RMT]

Alright, I have devoted a lot of time to coming up with a strategy. The first one i came up with was a perish song and wobbufet thing, it sucked. Then i tried trick room and rain dance. Nothing seemed to play in a way that i liked it. That is when i decided to build a similar idea based off my first team. And what i came up with seems decent, but i'd really like to know what experienced doublers have to say.

Here's the team:

Metagross - Choice Scarf
Adamant, 252atk , 252 spe
Explosion
Ironhead
Trick
Thunderpunch / Ice punch

Infernape - Focus Sash
Timid, 252 spatk, 252 spe
Fake Out
Heatwave
Protect / Encore / Mach Punch

Basic strategy is simple; Metagross explodes and Infernap supports. for my team to function well i have to kill the first 2 pokemon and leave my self with 3. To achieve this Metagross explodes. Infernape's job is a little more tricky. If i see something especially threatening to my strategy he is my fall back guy. Obviously Bronzong and Dusknoir are going to give me immense trouble for my explosion. I designed this ape with that in mind. If there is a Bronzong, Heatwave is plenty enbough to get the kill after explosion dmg. If there is a Dusknoir, i taunt. Trick room teams tear me up so i have to be prepared to stop it. Fakeout is there to null out opposing Fakeout, or stop somethign that would outspeed my guys. After i kill off there leads it gets a little more tricky.

Gengar - Life Orb
Timid, 252 spatk, 252 spe
Perish Song
Shadow Ball
Energy Ball
Protect

Lucario - Leftovers
Modest, 252 spatk, 252 spe
Detect
Protect
Dark Pulse
Aura Sphere

These two are designed to take out the last 2 pokemon. Gengar is very helpful because he is so fast, his speed is also what makes trick room so deadly to me. Anyway, Gengar uses Perish Song on my opponents remaining pokemon. After that i just wait it out, which is going to be super easy because Lucario has both Protect and Detect.

I hope i detailed it enough, it's hard to explain just what i am thinking. Any and all critisism is going to be more than appreciated, as the tournement is coming up next month and i want to be as competitive as i can.

The leads are good, but as for the back up dancers: you can't use Detect and Protect within succession and expect them to work 100%. It'll be as if you used Protect twice in a row (50% chance of success until it fails), so drop Detect. Perish Song also hits through Protect/Detect as well as all pokemon in play, so that strategy is null and void unless you want to lose. You might just want to pick some hard-hitting pokemon with Special attacks.

Okay, concerning your lead, it's not bad, but could use a little work. On Metagross, I'm assuming you meant Meteor Mash over Iron Head, since Metagross can't learn the latter. Thunderpunch would be good as well to deal with Damp pokemon that'll ruin your Explosion, but be warned it'll leave you walled vs. Quagsire (lol). Also, the CS Metagross analysis says to run Jolly over Adamant but I really don't know why, so whatever.

On Infernape, I think Taunt and Fake Out on the same set is a little much for stopping set up; I, personally, would go with Taunt to reliably shut down Dusknoir who you can't touch with Fake Out. For the empty slot, I'd recommend good-ol'-fashioned Close Combat for a good STAB move--not like Infernape survives much anyway. Should you do that, drop down to 192 Spd and put the remaining EVs in ATK with a Hasty or Naive nature. Oh, and by the way, your Infernape's Heatwave fails to OHKO a 252HP/96 Sp. Def neutral natured Levitate Bronzong, just so you know, so you should just Taunt the sucker.

On Gengar, I don't see your team "waiting out" the turns for Perish Song given that Gengar and Lucario are actually quite frail and that Protect and Detect run off of the same counter. I also don't see why you need to run Protect on it at all. I would rather run a standard Shadow Ball/Thunderbolt/Focus Blast/HP Fire set, maybe run Hypnosis if you feel lucky (sleep always helps immensely).

As for Lucario, I quite honestly think he could be replaced, preferably for either a Gyarados or Salamence for the following reasons:
1.Weaknesses. You are currently running two fire and three ground weaks which Lucario doesn't help with. Either of these pokemon would provide you with a reliable resistance to both.
2. Bulk and Intimidate. Your team is quite frail, with the exception of Metagross who explodes, so heavy hitters can overwhelm you. Both Gyarados and Salamence get Intimidate to weaken the opponent easily and have some reasonable bulk to them, the latter of which even has a reliable healing move in Roost.
3. Physical attacking. Right now your team is kinda boned against an enemy Snorlax since you lack much physical power except on Metagross who will die early anyway. Salamence and Gyarados would help you out in this regard.

So there you go. Either pokemon is fine, although I would rather go with Salamence for his higher speed and reliable recovery. Just don't use Outrage or you'll be randomly attacking like an idiot.

Besides that, you're gonna have to look out for RD and TR teams (by the way, thank you for not making a RD or TR team; they're fun to play, but God! everyone is making them!). I don't know how to really help with this without really overhauling the team, but it's something you're gonna have to look out for. Keep in mind, also, you can switch out two pokemon, so it wouldn't hurt to come up with two substitute pokemon when the situation calls for it.

Thanks for the critique guys. A few notes though, with perish song the idea was to keep 3 pokemon alive Infernape being one of them, and switch as soon as perish song takes effect. Also if you read the descrition fullt it would note heat wave was intended to kill bronzong after he already takes explosion damage. Also i did meen iron head. He can learn it through a move tutor. I chose iron head because in a tournement where i have to beat 7 people successivley in order to make it to nationals i REALLY do not want to pu tthings to chance by using a 85 accuracy move. In damaged factoring in accuracy meteor mash is only 6.25% more and that is with out a 30% flinch from iron head. Factoring in the flinch rate and accuracy iron head is WAY better. Now that i know protect and detect aren't successive it kinda kills my strategy.
The fake out there was mainly used to stop other fake out users from stopping my bronzong.

Not sure if it's worth mentioning, but that Luke could be changed into a Dig/Protect/Dark pulse/Auroa Sphere set, if you're dead set on trying that set. it's riddled with flaws, but stalling with a Lucario is in of itself a bad idea.

To tell you the truth, your team might benefit from having a Water Absorb pokemon on your team. A bulky Vaporeon can take care of stalling your opponents in rain, seeing as it's one of your problems. Try running this set:

Vaporeon@Leftovers
Bold//Water Absorb
188 Hp/ 252 Def/ 68 SpD
Toxic
Wish
Protect
HP [Electric]

Not only does it stop Surf from being used (unless your opponent plans on fully healing you in the process), but Vappy's fairly low speed allows it to function farily well if trick room is present as well.
