My last team, which was pretty much all-out attacking, worked nicely and got me a good winning streak. Still, I fancy a change of pace, and therefore I introduce to you:
My balanced and less offensive team
Granted, it's not the catchiest of titles. Still, I quite like the team and all of the pokes on it, and it's been pretty decent in battle. Bonus points to whoever guesses what the nicknames are based on.

Porygon2 @ Leftovers
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 HP/68 Def/80 SAtk/108 SDef
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Magic Coat
- Recover
Perhaps my favourite pokemon, Porygon2 was cruelly kicked off my last team as it had no place in it. Thankfully, it has a solid role in my newest team and really screws with many leads.
Porygon2.

Starmie @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 172 HP/216 Spd/120 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Surf
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Recover
Starmie is another of my favourite pokemon, and it's a necessity on this team rather than a choice as I have a massive mixape weak otherwise. Anyway, I'm running counterstar Starmie as I really don't find the need to spin usually. Most of my team resists SR, and I like the extra coverage that this set gives me. I run this over Specsmie (which I normally run) because the extra bulk is needed.

Bronzong @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/152 Atk/8 Def/96 SDef
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Gyro Ball
- Stealth Rock
- Hypnosis
- Earthquake
OK, I no longer have a Mamoswine weak. This does its job of avoiding EQs and setting up rocks, sleeping threats and taking hits. It's good at what it does, though the lack of recovery can be a problem. Also, why doesn't this get heal bell? It makes no sense!

Scizor (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 232 HP/252 Atk/24 Def
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Night Slash
- Quick Attack
- Brick Break
Scizor is awesome looking, and pairs nicely with Swampert as it takes grass moves with very little risk and sets up. This set is priceless, as people send in stuff like Infernape as I SD only to be killed by quick attack, of all things. Night Slash covers ghosts, and Brick Break covers Steels. Unfortunately, there's no room for roost, but this is deadly late game, and Technician+Swords Dance+Life Orb boosted quick attack really hurts.

Salamence (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Dragon Pulse
- Fire Blast
- Hydro Pump
Standard specsmence. Very little enjoys the prospect of switching into this, and it makes a decent switch into Hera thanks to intimidate and the fact that it resists Hera's STABs. Draco Meteor hits very, very hard, and is good for knocking massive chunks out of my opponent's team. The rest of the move provide coverage against stuff that resists Draco Meteor. Salamence also gives me another fire resist, to compensate for my two fire weaks, and gives some good special attacking power.

Machamp (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 HP/252 Atk/4 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dynamicpunch
- Ice Punch
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
I'm running out of colours. Anyway, this thing is great, It takes status for my team and hits hard with Dynamicpunch. Ice Punch over Stone Edge for extra dragon coverage, and because it has more PP, which was an issue with Stone Edge. Confusion is really fricking annoying, and very little likes coming in on this, the exceptions being Slowbro and ghosts. Fighting is quite a nice defensive typing.

I'm pretty pleased with this team. Having a change from the all out offence of my last team is nice, and this has good synergy in my eyes and has been fairly effective. Point out any problems and rate my team.

Porygon2 @ Leftovers
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 HP/68 Def/80 SAtk/108 SDef
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Magic Coat
- Recover
Perhaps my favourite pokemon, Porygon2 was cruelly kicked off my last team as it had no place in it. Thankfully, it has a solid role in my newest team and really screws with many leads.
- Gyarados (13090 leads) - Porygon2 is the Gyarados counter.
- Gengar (12669 leads) - If it tries to hypnosis me, it gets hypnosised right back. If it focus blasts me, I'm dead. Still, in my experience most lead with hypnosis, thinking I'll switch.
- Bronzong (11696 leads) - Magic Coat it if it tries to sleep me. Might get up rocks, but it does little else.
- Tyranitar (10024 leads) - Switch to machamp.
- Salamence (9885 leads) - Survives a specs meteor and OHKOs with Ice Beam the vast majority of cases. Intimidates physical variants.
- Hippowdon (8437 leads) - Ice beam, which is a 2 hit KO in most cases, a 3 hit KO if it has some SpDef EVs. All it can really do is SR anyway.
- Ninjask (6880 leads) - Attack and wait for the switch really.
- Yanmega (6196 leads) - Hypnosis gets magic coated right back. If no hypnosis, I can attack with T-Bolt/IB.
- Abomasnow (6103 leads) - Seeders are met with a magic coat that does nothing to either poke. Scarf versions are not too bad to deal with. It's a mediocre poke.
- Weavile (5876 leads) - Switch to Scizor, Swampert or Machamp, depending on my mood.
- Metagross (5798 leads) - Switch to Swampert.
- Roserade (5767 leads) - Magic coat the sleep powder, forcing it to switch out.
- Infernape (5637 leads) - Run to Starmie and pray that it CCs.
- Jolteon (5636 leads) - I can switch to Swampert, or attack it and just kill any subs. It can't do anything to me, as I trace Volt absorb.
- Breloom (4933 leads) - Magic coat.
