Hey, This will be my second team to post on the smogon forum now and I hope you enjoy it.
So since the first team I made, I found it very hard to make a good team set-up that got me past a basic 1k rating on smogon until I came across the idea for this team which basically is to have as few weaknesses as is possible on a team. The basis of this means all my pokemon in this team have a maximum of two weaknesses. Machamp being the only pokemon with two (due to Bronzong having levitate).
EDIT changes in red
Past moves/members in green
So quick Evaluation of the team.
1. No pokemon has over 2 weaknesses.
2. Its made to be a fairly balanced out team.
3. Yes i am using swampert again and thats only due to his one weakness which is grass and no im not obsessed with swampert :naughty:.
4. All my pokemon are female because there's to many people running gimmick attract teams. which just really annoys me -.-
Onto the Team
We have 5 weaknesses to toxic Spikes
We have 5 pokemon hit by spikes
We have 6 pokemon hit by stealth rock
So not so quick overview of the team.
Machamp (F) @ Lum Berry
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 248 Atk/28 Spd/232 SDef
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dynamicpunch
- Bullet Punch
- Payback
- Ice Punch
To start us off, the lead Machamp, on an old team I was messing around with Machamp and found it was just a good lead as people say it is. The lack of Stealth rock does hamper sweeps later on but normally I can rectify that by switching into Bronzong later on in the game. Well first thing to point out on Machamp clearly is why I am using those Evs the main reason for this is that 28 speed allows me to out speed other Machamp leads, the reason i use 28 is because most Machamp leads now seem to run a 16 Spd set-up so having 28 gives me that advantage I need. The 232 SDef I use rather than health is simply preference when dealing with leads such as Heatran and to a lesser extent Azelf and Uxie. Against Other common leads,
Azelf - Payback and hope its going to stealth rock if it hits me and i survive ill stay as Machamp.
Infernape- Take the fake out dynamic then bullet punch
Swampert- Dynamic then bullet punch
Metagross- Dynamic if it tricks me dynamic again
Jirachi- Dynamic then bullet.
Aerodactyl - Ice punch for the Ohko if it has a sash bullet punch.
Rosearade- Ice Punch if she gets of spore swap to blissey and flame-thrower.
Heatran- survive the first attack then dynamic punch for Ohko
Blissey (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Aromatherapy
- Softboiled
- Flamethrower
- Protect
Next in our line-up is Blissey. Being used mainly as the status destroyer of my teams aromatherapy is its main use. I chose flame-thrower specifically to Mess up the opponent and because i do not have an effective steel killer once Machamp is dead unless I get set-up on Kingdra. Now after long deliberation the fact that all of my team-mates bar Jolteon and Machamp carries leftovers I decided on a cleric set-up rather than a wish passer. This is simply because when I swap to Blissey i am using it to a full extent to wall a pokemon if swampert has already intoxicated that pokemon. If of course the pokemon has not been Intoxicated by swampert is a hit and miss about flame-thrower which usually means if the pokemon is not steel or grass I will swap into another pokemon.
Bronzong @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/86 Atk/80 Def/92 SDef
Sassy nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Explosion
- Gyro Ball
- Payback
Next in our line-up is a balanced Bronzong who has only one weakness thanks to levitate is fire which as we have seen can be usually absorbed by a number of pokemon on my team (namely Swampert and Blissey). Used as my stealth rock supporter Bronzong is a very effective killer and switcher for example if Kingdra is out and the opponent swaps to a choice flygon I can instantly swap to Bronzong on the outrage and get both stealth rocks up and kill the flygon with Hp ice. Gyro ball is a mixed blessing allowing me to get an easy stab which inflicts allot of damage to dark opponents and others it can inflect neutral damage in the range of 40% (on a max hp Blissey). Payback is there to just get a quick attack down on something like an Azelf if needed. Its got great synergy with Blissey and swampert and with only one weakness it is a key member of the team.
Jolteon (F) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 Spd/252 SAtk/4 SDef
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Baton pass
- Hidden Power [Grass]
Onto the fourth pokemon a specs jolteon. I toyed with the idea of a scalf jolteon for a while but a specs jolteon is just that much more powerful and still has the speed to keep up with other pokemon. The evs and moveset are standard smogon which only adds to its potency. With the right prediction i can take down almost all Ou pokemon with my only real problems being Flygon who as already stated can be killed by at least 3 pokemon on my team (swampert, Bronzong, Kingdra (in certain situations). Thunderbolt is there as a main stab almost always getting a OhKo sometimes with more use than shadow ball on pokemon such as Gengar who take the same damage from either move. Baton pass is there simply for the Synergy with Kingdra and swampert who benefit from the increased speed, its both entertaining and fun to watch a swampert rip through a team with jolteon's stats.
Swampert (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP/4 Atk/252 Def
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam
- Toxic
- Roar
The second to last pokemon as you can see has the evs spread of a lead swampert and in the beginning this was the idea but a defensive swampert works out well in the fact that it can wall quite a few moves which Blissey has trouble with. toxic allows it to act as a wall at points in the game forcing a switch out due to stab earthquake and stab surf. Its synergy with members of the team makes it pretty much the glue holding everything together. Taking fire attacks for Bronzong, Fighting attacks for Blissey ground attacks for Jolteon, electric attack for Kingdra. its only weakness being Grass it can survive at least one none stab grass move and any stab moves it can swap straight to Bronzong who takes those grass hits like a champ.
Kingdra @ Life Orb
Naughty - Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 240 SpA / 16 Spe
~ Rain Dance
~ Waterfall
~ Hydro Pump / Surf
~ Draco Meteor
Now for our final guest star which is Kingdra. Now first things first with the loss of salamance there's only 3 dragons left Kingdra, Flygon and Dragonite. Now I hate rain dance teams with a passion, Flygons got to many weaknesses as does Dragonite therefore Kingdra was the best option and as a late game sweeper or an early game sweeper and just any kind of sweeper it works very well. Ok well lets talk about the most pressing issue which is its nature. I needed a nature with speed which allowed me to out speed Flygon if Bronzong was out of the game. The ev spread and nature allows me to do this unless there is a Salfgon which in full without Bronzong or swampert can have a good go at team sweeping. Many of my pokemon hold an ice move to stop flygon from sweeping but i prefer to be better safe than sorry. Due to Shizzles reasoning I have swapped to Solo rain dance Kingdra who through testing does work as well as DD Kingdra. Due to the fact if I am facing a rain dance team it will already be up and without a rain dance team i have the ability to out speed almost every poke on the field. Flygon is no longer a threat to this set if i can get Rd up.
Credit to Shizzle for the Kingdra set
Past Members/movesets
Kingdra (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd/4 SDef
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SpA)
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Outrage
- Substitute
A Sub dance Kingdra is my personal preference as I can sub on the switch then DD on the sub kill and one DD usually means a team sweep for the opponent. It has great synergy with jolteon swampert Bronzong and Blissey, With aromatherapy getting it clean of any status ready for a sweep.
So i hope you enjoyed by team and please dont hesitate to criticise and abuse me
