No tricks; no weather; just battling

New Years is about to come very soon, and I thought I would end the year with another Doubles RMT. So far, this team has gone 11-1 in the RM, but whether or not it's good is your opinion. I'm just going to have fun with it.

Volcarona @ Focus Sash
Ability: Flame Body
Nature: Modest
EVs: 252 Sp. Atk, 252 Spd, 4 HP

Moveset:
  • Protect
  • Quiver Dance
  • Bug Buzz
  • Heat Wave
Basically the set-up sweeper of the team. The Focus Sash is there to give Volcarona a chance to set up against teams with Rock Slide users and Rain teams in general. Heat Wave and Bug Buzz are there to give him powerful STAB moves.

Gallade @ White Herb
Ability: Steadfast
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 Atk, 248 HP, 4 Def, 4 Sp. Def

Moveset:
  • Psycho Cut
  • Close Combat
  • Protect
  • Feint
Eat your heart out Hitmontop! I finally found a Fighter more useful than you for my team. Sure, you have Close Combat, but you don't have any Psychic moves to help you against the common Amoonguss. Your Feint was nice, but everyone knew when you had it while people normally expect Trick Room or Helping Hand from Gallade. Sorry Hitmon, but your Psychic weakness and limited options were too much of a liability to me despite your access to Intimidate.

Hydreigon @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 Sp. Atk, 252 Spd, 4 HP

Moveset:
  • Dark Pulse
  • Draco Meteor
  • Dragon Pulse
  • Fire Blast
I honestly don't understand why few people use Scarf Hydreigon. Even though he's Dark and has a fighting weakness, the only Fighting types I ever seem to see lately are Hitmontops. Latios is nice, but the lack of a good Fire move really puts a damper on him. With your Choice Scarf, you can outrun all unscarfed common threats to your life while your Dragon/Fire synergy lets you beat them instead. Dark Pulse will let you hurt the typical Trick Room setters with occasional flinch hax, but will also give you a shot against guys like Metagross if you're ever locked into a move.

__Jolteon___by_PachirisuLuva.jpg

Jolteon @ Life Orb
Ability: Volt Absorb
Nature: Hasty/Timid
EVs: 252 Sp. Atk, 252 Spd, 4 HP

Moveset:
  • Discharge
  • Shadow Ball/Hidden Power (Ice or Grass)
  • Thunderbolt
  • Protect
I know that you're Hasty right now, but I'll fix that bad quirk eventually. It's not like you need any extra points in that side of your defense anyway with how frail you are there already and the added damage from LOrb leeching. Rotom and Zapdos may be cool, but can either of them switch into an incoming T-Wave or Thunder(bolt) with 0 worries about their speed.....No! Just Jolteon! Wow! Discharge will let you study how annoying paralysis is since you rarely get paralyzed. Your Shadow Ball is cool, but that might get replaced with Hidden Power if I start re-breeding.

gastrodonn.png

Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
Nature: Modest
EVs: 252 Sp. Atk, 252 HP, 4 Def

Moveset:
  • Earth Power
  • Muddy Water
  • Ice Beam
  • Protect
It was going to be a major pain to get Gastrodon the way he is now, but thanks to TheMetalOverlord, I got a flawless Gastrodon w/ Earth Power. Funny enough, it was also shiny, but I can't really tell the difference. Either way, I finally have a good Ground move that doesn't give the rest of my team headaches while Muddy Water will give my opponents headaches with the random Accuracy drops. The Water Immunity from Storm Drain is nice, but it makes him cannon fodder against Rain teams, so I had to give him Protect instead of Recover so he can annoy them to death while Volcarona just boosts his stats w/ Quiver Dance.

metagross.jpg

Metagross @ Normal Gem
Ability: Clear Body
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 Atk, 240 HP, 16 Spd

Moveset:
  • Bullet Punch
  • Protect
  • Explosion
  • Meteor Mash
Now don't get mad Metagross, but ever since I got Gastrodon, you've become a bit of a weak link. Sure, your Meteor Mash is cool and you have a good priority in Bullet Punch, but every time I go into battle, you always seem to get in the way. Sorry, but I'm gonna have to let you go. Click here for Metagross' reaction in a nutshell.(Pause in silence) On second thought, maybe you should stay on the team. That Explosion you just caused will be way more useful than any Earthquake you ever made.

That's the team for you, and Happy New Year to everyone.

Not bad. Metagross suffers from coverage problems though, a Fake Out user might do the team well. Do hate to say it, but I think Hitmontop would work out better then Gallade lol
