So after a few years away, I've decided to get back into competitive battling. While I and my teams are both a work in progress at this point, I've had some decent success with this team (13 wins, 7 losses so far) on PO and I think with a little help it can be really dangerous. The basic concept is of an offensive minded BP team that doesn't HAVE TO rely on Blaziken's BP boosts, but rather benefits from them in the early game to enhance already capable sweepers and make late game clean up a little easier. Please keep in mind though that this IS my first attempt at XY Ubers, even though I've already tweaked it a bit. So here goes..
Blaziken @ Life Orb
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 4HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Will o Wisp
- Power Up Punch
- Flame Charge
- Baton Pass
My own twist on the usual BP set. The EV's are pretty basic so I won't go into that. To look at it you'll probably think I'm nuts, but the adamant nature combined with STAB+Life Orb makes the normally weak boost attacks respectable, and allows me to pass Spe +2 or Spe +1 & Atk +1 while still doing some damage to leads and possibly KOing things like Galvantula or Smeargle. Will o Wisp is the move I'm not sure about. While it has it's niche, burning leads and weakening physical attackers to more reasonable levels, I can't help but think Protect might be a better option as it would allow him to survive priority moves and things like Scald and at least pass one boost.
Xerneas @ Power Herb
Ability: Fairy Aura
EVs: 104 HP / 32 Def / 252 SpAtk / 120 Spe
Modest Nature
- Geomancy
- Moonblast
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power Fire
The true powerhouse of my team. Xerneas can take a lot of things out, even without Geomancy. But with the Modest nature + Power Herb + Geomancy combo his Fairy Aura'd Moonblasts become almost unfairly strong. Speaking of Moonblast, it's (obviously) my go-to, and with Geomancy OHKO's most everything neutral, let alone weak to it. I chose T-Bolt's reliability over Thunder's power for things like Ho-Oh and Kyogre. Hidden Power fire is there for things like Ferrothorn and Scizor. Placed EV's in HP and Def for general bulk while maxing SpAtk to hit as hard as possible with the 120 Spe EVs to allow it to outspeed a few things it otherwise wouldn't.
Garchomp @ Assault Vest
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Poison Jab
Another twist of mine, I added an Assault Vest to 'Chomp to make him a bit more survivable. I'm not naive enough to think that'll allow him to eat a STAB Ice Beam, but the vest does put his SpDef just above 300 which can definitely come in handy. Outrage is the standard Dragon nuke, which I prefer to Dragon Claw since he can't use Swords Dance on this set. Earthquake handles a lot of things Outrage doesn't. Stone Edge is there for things like Reshiram and Rayquaza. And Poison Jab gives him some form of defense against Fairies. Standard all-out attack EVs, with Adamant chosen over Jolly for power.
Mega Gengar @ Gengarite
Ability: Levitate / Shadow Tag
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpAtk / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Taunt
- Destiny Bond
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
I love the versatility of this set. It can do so many things well, from trapping to taunting, to sweeping, to even using Destiny Bond to take out especially pesky sweepers. Shadow Ball gives him a reliable STAB while Focus Blast allows him to cover a pretty wide range of types. Taunt can keep set-ups and stealth rocks at bay, plus prevent healing. And finally there's Destiny Bond to thoroughly piss off just about anyone you play. I wanted to run a bulkier EV set but in the end Mega Gengar pretty much does what it does and not much else. So I decided to go with all out special attack.
Kyogre @ Choice Specs
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 128 HP / 252 SpAtk / 128 Spe
Timid Nature
- Water Spout
- Surf
- Thunder
- Ice Beam
This thing hits HARD. Even without a modest nature it's SpAtk hovers just under 600 thanks to the Specs, which is why I decided to add more EVs to HP for extra bulk instead of maxing his Spe. The Timid nature and 128 EVs keep him from being painfully slow, but in the end he's built to knock down walls not outrun Deoxys (lol). Water Spout gives him a STAB nuke while his health is high, which is supplanted by Surf as his health drops. Ice Beam covers the abundance of Dragons in Ubers. And Thunder is just brutal in rain. I mainly hit and run with Kyogre, taking advantage of the switches he causes to deal damage early-mid game and hopefully at least significantly weaken the opponent's walls.
Rotom Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 Spe
Bold Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Swwitch
- Toxic
- Pain Split
A slight variation on the standard OU defensive set. The only real difference being Toxic, which can be a real thorn in Xerneas' side. And I appreciate that considering Geomancy Xerneas is pretty much my greatest fear in this metagame. Hydro Pump checks Landorus. Volt Switch to do damage on the retreat. And finally Pain Split rounds out the defensive set. 248 EVs in HP for general bulk. Would be 252 but since Rocks always have to be accounted for, I'd rather put the Def at 216 to minimize damage. Threw the remainder in Spe for dealing with Azumarill.
Well there it is. Like I said it's my first time posting here, so I apologize if I misunderstood any of the guidelines. I did my best to follow them from memory, having read them yesterday. Any input is GREATLY appreciated.
