Dead or Alive ~ You Spin me Right Round

The latest incarnation. I don't like Dead or Alive, and Pete... Um, whatever it's his life. This song is just good and I like the techno-y remix of it. >:)

LIKE A RECORD BABY!

Base Hunters - Now You're Gone

Possibly one of Britain's most criticised #1's of this time. The song itself is catchy, but in the end it's just your average dance love song with your average love lyrics.

The Fall Of Troy - I just got this Symphony Goin'

Yet another amazing group I would never have to listened to if Guitar Hero didn't exist.

I salute you Guitar Hero!

Death Cab For Cutie - Tiny Vessels

First time through Transatlanticism. I thought I'd give some more indie rock bands a chance, I also listened to In The Aeroplane Over The Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel yesterday and it was pretty good. So far I'm liking this album.

portugal. the man - It's complicated being a wizard

This is probably the one thing they've released that really differs from their other stuff, but I happen to enjoy it the most.

An excellent song, for every single one of it's 20+ minutes.

The Hold Steady - Hot Soft Light

open up some important document.
stamp aforementioned document in red with an oversized "ROCK ON"
because The Hold Steady is fist-pumping, beers-all-around, no-way-it's-really-that-good-but-it-is rock'n'roll.

Key To The Gate - Burzum

Any other real metalheads on Smogon...?

One danish man in his basement grabbing his sack harder than is safe while singing doesn't make a metal band any good. At least listen to something that doesn't sound EXACTLY THE SAME for 5 minutes before you try to pass off your taste as the only authentic one.

Rant aside, I am playing Day of the Apocalypse by Arkangel - Arkangel play a sort of hardcore influenced metal (you could probably call it hardcore influenced death metal if you want to get technical). I feel like rating this too.. 7/10.

Key To The Gate - Burzum

Any other real metalheads on Smogon...?

Real metalheads don't limit themselves to being tr00 and close-minded about their substyles, especially concerning liking overrated BM bands like Burzum.

I like metal myself, but metal isn't about liking the loudest stuff or the most tr00/gr1m/kvlt music. Fuck holier-than-thou attitudes, seriously.

Radiohead - Bones

Panic! At The Disco - Nine In The Afternoon

Okay, so they're mainstream as shit, but this song is so damn catchy it's the only thing I've been able to listen to for the last three days.

Also can't wait for the new album.

Wow. That was an extremely negative response to my harmless post. Was it because of Burzum? What's with the Burzum hate? Burzum is hardly overrated. I'll bet you haven't even heard Burzum, or have heard very little. It's way toned down in comparison to other BM bands. The music contains MELODY. Burzum is one metal band that I will NOT accept people saying it's "just loud noise". I also don't limit my musical tastes at all. Because I like BM doesn't mean my musical tastes are confined within BM (which is exactly how you came across). What if I had said I was actually listening to some Megadeth; your responses would be drastically different, I think.

What I ACTUALLY meant was "are there any other people that like metal bands other than metalcore and nu-metal"?

By the way, Trax, you are grossly misinformed. Varg Vikernes is actually Norwegian and if you had actually heard his music, you'd know that it doesn't sound the same in the slightest. Yay for stereotyping.

Anyhow, on topic, i'm listening to: The End - The Doors.

No, as Megadeth has about one good album, Rust In Peace. I just don't like Burzum. Emperor is far better, as is old Ulver, Wolves in the Throne Room, Agalloch etc. (though the last isn't purely bm.)

What I ACTUALLY meant was "are there any other people that like metal bands other than metalcore and nu-metal"?

more than enough. check back through the thread and you will find various references to bands such as Iron Maiden, Symphony X etc.

yeah except it does considering Vikernes makes tr00 BM, and has basically made the same album until he was chucked in prison, and those albums sound like he made them on a fucking xylophone gone MIDI. Burzum isn't as bad as say, Immortal or Darkthrone, but tr00 BM is mostly terrible.

Anyhow, on topic, i'm listening to: The End - The Doors.

Ayreon - Liquid Eternity here.

I respect that you don't like BM and I thank you for taking a road other than plain insulting me. I like black metal, and I just absolutely disagree that it all sounds the same. It just doesn't. I have listened to enough to 100% come to that conclusion. I also think Emperor is a fantastic band, i'm glad you mentioned them. Black metal isn't even my favorite genre of metal, and this whole semi-argumentative discussion arised from me happening to be listening to some Burzum at the time. Being a "metalhead" isn't all about being a tr00 purist and I find it a shame that you came to that conclusion about me.

i remember when my friend made me listen to slipknot and i got so scared that immediately afterwards i ran home and listened to relient k

Unit.R - Track 11

I discovered this (local) band in South Africa, when a South African music nerd hooked me up with a battered CD-RW of Unit.R's great synth electronica. This track makes me really happy whenever I listen to it, it's all lo-fi synth but it just builds and builds upon itself until the ending where everything breaks down into a syncopated cacophony of electric noise.

0mastar man I was going to use that picture for my avatar ©___©

It doesn't all sound the same, it's just that I really don't like the old Norwegian style with the shitty fuzzy production and the gargled vocals. That old thrash-based style is very monotonous. I need variety/other elements with my BM plus I need vocals that don't make me cringe. Most BM bands just don't satisfy those reqs for me.

Pain of Salvation - Disco Queen
