np: Latias - Don't Do the Dew! (NOTE: explanation of Skymin's fate within)

TTar has become so common i am actually making prediction for TTar switching in before i know the opposing team.

I have been using Life Orb Gengar (Explosion / shadow ball / focus blast / tbolt) along with bulky cm latias (bliss / vaporeon / random ice beams under 260 sp atk arent breaking sub after a cm) and i found it very effective
 
i agree latias appears to be underwhelming =/. im using the double screen latias Reflect/Light Screen/recover/t-wave. its a decent dual screener allthough its done better by some people it kinnda beats ttar though CB ttar versus it does 30% (with pursuit) approx with reflect up and 60%(with pursuit) approx when you switch

i had adjusted my team to fit latias but soon changed it back because the fixes were overkill. this thing is seriously underwhelming.
 
I can't believe I got to #29 on ladder. I just played it for a bit and lost a bit lol.

So far so good.
Latias is a great Pokemon imo. An amazing sweeper towards late game with some defensive capabilities.

However, despite her useful resistances, it's very tough to get her set up. This is primarily because Tyranitar and Scizor are everywhere, and thus if she attempts to set up she can be badly punished.

I'm currently using Calm Mind/Dragon Pulse/Surf/Recover @ Life Orb, and it's working decently. I wanna try Safeguard over Surf at some point, though, just to shut down TTar/Scizorless stall teams kinda (and helps the team against Toxic Spikes). Surf hasn't really helped me too much because TTar doesn't really take a lot from it, but who knows?

Spread I'm using atm is 6 HP / 252 Spd / 252 SAtk. Boring, I know, but I can't find anything notable for Latias to survive at this moment (this isn't the uber metagame). I need to use 252 Speed to outrun other Latias, which has helped me a couple of times (especially against HP Fighting Latiases which I keep running into, and their 30 Speed IV is their demise).

I think Latias will be a solid OU Pokemon. She is definitely not uber at the moment (unless someone makes a broken set somehow). Her weakness to Pursuit can really be discouraging, but in no way is she underwhelming. There's versatility in her which keeps her counters in tip toes

Its easy to get on the Leaderboard mostly because there isn't enough people playing yet to make it difficult, wait till next saturday...yeah...

I've been pretty much dominating the ladder under an alt, though not much, I will contribute something to this thread after some more battling.
 
Too early to make a judgement as all I've seen is CM Latias, only seen three of them a lot of the people I've played didn't use Latias at all.

Going to ladder some more, try some different sets since everyone expects CM which is too hard to set up imo.
 
im gonna use dd life orb latios w/ outrage / dd / hp fire / earthquake makes a pretty good sweeper tbh as no one expects it. im gonna try a very wallish latias
 
I was under the impression that Latios was banned at the moment? Anyway Latias is a great pokemon no doubt, but there are definitely things that stop it. Scizor, Jirachi and Tyranitar are everywhere and in my opinion it is not uber (the pursuit weakness really screws it over). I've found that Latias + Dugtrio + Magnezone is a really good combination. Dugtrio takes out T-tars and blissey while magnezone beats the steels.
 
Just saying I was thinking of what to do with latias, and I'm just starting to realize it's far from what I would expect from an uber pokemon. It's limited, nor flame thrower or fire blast, not focus blast, all atks that it could greatly benefit from. Un empressive atk stat wit not dragon dance aid makes me very dicoraged from trying sweeper sets at all.

In the end i'm trying out a support wish set and I think if support is all latias amounts to, It can't be uber.

meant gonna am now using stall latias because i didnt know it wasnt being tested lol. i need to be fucking more clear about these things.
 
Urgh,12/13 of the matches I've played have had a Tyranitar coming in. It's way too hard to see if Latias is OU if it gets killed so fast.

I agree, her defensive support sets are nice but thats about it.

Edit - Concerning Fighting vs Fire, I find Scizor alot easier to counter then TTar so Id go with Fighting..havnt tried the CM set yet though.
 
I doubt Latias will stay Uber. I feel like I can't set up CM. With all the steels and t-tars around Latias really can't hurt anything. I tried HP Ground it works okay but not that great.

EDIT- I did battle this guy that was running a Sub/CM/Dragon Pulse/Recover set. It worked well till I'd send in a steel poke. Just goes to show that Latias isn't that big a treat without soul dew. I might run Dragon Pulse/HP Fire,Ground/Grass Knot/Draco Meteor Specs/LO set. It has great coverage and takes out many threats.

That's really been pissing me off, I almost want to replace her for this reason but I keep her in for the sake of testing. Colbur Berry perhaps? Idk.

Well I guess that in itself is reason to say that it's not broken. Again, it's still early so things might change in a week or two.

I've found Specs/Scarf to be fairly effective. I like Scarf more though.
 
he's saying its getting killed so fast because people are packing their teams with 2-3 counters, thus making it hard to decipher if its really broken or not. it seems like people are packing the counters to get to the top of the ladder, not to test latias.

Yeah I agree. Like I said earlier I've seen more teams on suspect with no Latias than I have with Latias.

Haven't seen any Salamences or Zapdos and less Heatrans. That's the only change I've noticed besides CB Tyranitar being in every fucking team.

Wow I just realized that lol. But a good observation. Maybe HP Fighting could fix that problem.

This is why everyone should at some point use their old standard team on the suspect ladder. If the only reason Lati isnt broken is because we are using 2/3 counters then we have no idea if it is actually broken or not, but by using our regular teams we can more accuratly judge how significant of a change it will make in the metagame.

Well I personally just took my OU team and just took out one poke and stuck in Latias and it has done well and I haven't had any problems with other Latias either.
 
Yeah I made a team to include Latias, not built around it but one that it works nicely with and its not anymore special then the other members but In a few days Im gonna use my old Standard team.
