Welcome to the millionth re-iteration of the NU C&C Index & Reservations thread. This time around, we're mostly aiming to finalize and every analysis on-site and make them awesome before the end of BW2.

Please feel free to comment on analyses with your thoughts if you have used the set or Pokemon extensively; additional opinions are almost always helpful to some degree. We're always looking out for potential new members for our Quality Control team, but please don't pester Raseri or myself about joining; one of us will talk to you about it if we notice consistent, quality commentary on NU analyses.

Rules and Notes

  • You may reserve up to two Pokemon at any given time, and up to three if you are a badgeholder. Once your analysis is written up and in the GP stage with the third QC check you may reserve another.
  • Don't edit your posts in this thread. Post again if you have to make an update, even if you have to double post.
  • Post here to reserve an analysis, again when you put up a skeleton, and again when you're completely finished with it (not when it's simply written up or put into GP stage). This is so we can better maintain the listings, and so we know exactly what the progress of your analysis is at any given time.
  • Analyses showing minimal activity can be re-assigned.
  • An update needs to be an improvement to the current analysis, not just a re-write. If you plan to reserve a Pokemon, please have a detailed idea of what you think needs to be improved in order for it to be updated to the current metagame, and make sure your analysis reflects that.
  • If you intend to reserve an NFE Pokemon that does not exist on this list or to write up a new set, you do not need to post here. Simply post your skeleton when it is ready and be sure to include vigorous reasoning behind the usage of this Pokemon or set (logs/replay links would be excellent). Also, be aware that if said NFE Pokemon has an evolution that's currently in NU, we will be incredibly hard-pressed to actually approve it.
  • Joke analyses have been written (thanks Oglemi!). There is no need to reserve Watchog, Minun, Plusle, etc. because they do not need to be updated.
--

Deadlines

You have one week after you post your reservation to put up a skeleton and two weeks after the second QC check to have your analysis fully written. We are not going to be lenient and there will be no warnings - if you do not have work completed by the deadline, your analysis may be re-assigned to whomever actually wants to get the work done. If you miss a deadline multiple times, you will be temporarily banned from reserving analyses in NU, and if you continue missing them, you may be given an infraction. Please take deadlines seriously and get your work done!

IMPORTANT: On Overviews and Checks & Counters sections

Overviews

One of the things we're going to focus on primarily is making the Overview and Checks & Counters sections less shit. Honestly, it's what they are: they're misleading, lacking quality information, and the information they do contain tends to be rehashed literally from right above it. We don't need to tell the reader the stats or abilities of the given Pokemon especially since they're listed right above the Overview. The QC team is going to be cracking down hard on this especially with the third QC check - you don't need to fill your Overviews with unneeded fluff. It's okay for them to be short, to be blunt and brutally honest with how good the Pokemon is. If you want a general estimate, you can check over the Viability Rankings to see how "nice" you should be in the overview. I'm going to quote a post of Aldaron's for a general skeleton of how Overviews should be built:

First, a strong, concise statement about the Pokemon's general performance in the BW2 OU tier (first and upfront so the reader knows exactly what he is dealing with). Then, if applicable, a brief description of how it has changed from previous Gen OUs (so people looking to compare generational roles know where to start). The previous two can even be a single statement as long as it is clear and informative. Finally, and this is the brunt of the overview, why you should use this Pokemon. This encompasses two main things: its strategies (note strategies, like hazards stacking on Deoxys-D, not moves / items, like Dragon Dance on Salamence or Focus Sash on Alakazam; the latter are overly specific for an overview, unless of course you feel those specifics are the LARGE majority of what a Pokemon does) and how it does something notable in comparison to similar pokemon (try to keep this very brief, though this may also be an instance where you get specific).

The overview shouldn't dwell (too much) on specifics, unless the specific is "iconic" on the Pokemon (I can understand mentioning Multiscale on Dragonite, or Drizzle on Politoed, or Spikes on Deoxys-D), and the overview shouldn't deal with counters / checks (we have a separate section for that). Remember, we're focusing more on breadth here, not depth. Depth is the individual set description part.
Please follow Aldaron's guidelines when coming up with your Overview. Anything that just lists out stats as "padding" to make the Overview feel fuller and more expansive is bad. It's okay for an analysis to point out that Glaceon has the highest Special Attack in NU because that is directly relevant to its usefulness and the reason why you should use it, but it's not okay for us to point out that x Pokemon has 45 base Defense, 108 base HP and 37 base Speed. Similarly, you don't need to describe abilities or movepools unless it's central to the effectiveness of said Pokemon. I don't need to say that Lickilicky gets Own Tempo, or clarify that it can't use Cloud Nine with Wish in the Overview; the former isn't very important and the latter is just a specific scenario, which we shouldn't talk about in Overviews.

It's also not okay to use those miserable filler sentences at the end. "Despite these flaws, x is really a good Pokemon!" "x shouldn't be overlooked!" "...look no further than x." "...given the proper support, x can run over teams." You don't need to rely on any of these phrases to wrap up your Overview, and honestly it makes it incredibly stale and boring to read. Let's quickly go over an example of an Overview that we currently have on-site that I would consider poor.

At first glance, Exeggutor appears passive and harmless; it is, in fact, the opposite. With a base 125 Special Attack and a potent special movepool; Exeggutor is an extremely dangerous Pokemon. Exeggutor shares Celebi's typing of Grass / Psychic, which, despite granting it seven weaknesses, also affords it resistances to Ground-, Psychic-, Water-, Fighting-, and Electric-type moves. Exeggutor also has a very low base Speed stat of 55, meaning it is limited to hit-and-run tactics most of the time. In spite of this, Exeggutor is still very threatening, and will be hard for your opponent to handle if it is used correctly.
How much did you learn about Exeggutor here? Its roles, capabilities, general effectiveness? How does it perform in NU, and why should you use it? ...oh, right. We don't have any particularly good Overviews in NU currently as far as I'm aware, so here's an example of a good one, also from Aldaron's post:

Sableye, pitiful in previous generations, thanks Arceus for respect in BW2 OU due to the combination of Prankster and a collection of Prankster-abusable moves, like Taunt, Recover, and Will-O-Wisp. It has three primary roles in BW2: to act a spinblocker, to cripple physical offense with priority Will-O-Wisp, and to break stall with priority Taunt. While Sableye has utility on most team archetypes, it is important to note that it is the premier spinblocker on Sun teams, as Drought allows it to easily beat Tentacruel and Starmie while Will-O-Wisp and Taunt allow it to take care of Donphan and Forretress.
In summary, the Overview should just quickly tell the reader how the Pokemon is in NU (whether its good, bad, or decent), how it compares to previous generations (if it is a fifth gen Pokemon it is okay to omit this), what its main strategies are, and something notable about it. Please don't spend extra space talking about irrelevant stats, abilities, etc. Leave those details for the other sections.

Checks & Counters

This isn't objectively as easy to deal with as Overviews, but it's important that the Pokemon we have listed as checks and counters are actually good, reliable checks and counters and ways to manage this Pokemon. Even something as "hard to deal with" as Jynx has a multitude of Pokemon that can check or outright counter it, and we need to make sure that this list is very accurate and correct. Previously, analyses have gone up with abysmal C&C sections - for example, a previous version of Kangaskhan had Frillish and Misdreavus listed as counters. KANGASKHAN. (Thankfully, this has since been corrected.) For an example that's less bluntly horrible, Kadabra has several Pokemon that use Sucker Punch listed as counters; this is not true whatsoever, since Kadabra can lock them into Sucker Punch and then do whatever it wants. Sure, these Pokemon can force it to switch out or bring it to its Sash if they aren't OHKOed by Kadabra (hence being checks), but it's very important to note that Kadabra can and will do that.

Updated.

Nice to see some NU C&C Action.

Reserving an offensive Metang set.
When posting sets or new analyses for NFEs not listed here (if I'm missing a fully evolved Pokemon please let me know), you simply post it and let QC look at it. Sorry that's not clearer!

Reserving Basculin

EDIT: The Skeleton is up

EDIT2:

For an example that's less bluntly horrible, Kadabra has several Pokemon that use Sucker Punch listed as counters; this is not true whatsoever, since Kadabra can lock them into Sucker Punch and then do whatever it wants. Sure, these Pokemon can force it to switch out or bring it to its Sash if they aren't OHKOed by Kadabra (hence being checks), but it's very important to note that Kadabra can and will do that.
Does this mean that Kadabra does need an update? There are still a few Pokemon with Sucker Punch in the analysis (although they are all fairly low on there and all but Cacturne has other ways in which it checks it (Skuntank = Pursuit, Golem = Rock Blast, mentioned alongside Sucker Punch)). Just wondering because you don't have it up for reservation because I completed it in January, but you mention it as a flawed C&C (or at least that's what it sounds like)

Sorry for the confusion - I think that section just needs to clarify that Sucker Punch is not a perfect means of beating it (which is easily remedied in the SCMS). I drafted this thread really briefly a while back and there are probably better examples of flawed C&C sections; that was just one of the first I checked that had something that stuck out to me.

This is also updated.
