And with Colbrushie being the tiebreaker for me (again), metaphysical has now become the first person to be in the HoF.

With that being said, let's get onto this week's new mon. I decided to go with a defensive mon as I have been doing offensive mons for the past 5 weeks, so I went with...

Vileplume @ Black Sludge
Ability: Effect Spore
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Moonlight
- Sleep Powder / Hidden Power Fire / Stun Spore / Filler

Have fun and see you guys soon! :)

Lanturn @ Leftovers
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 40 HP / 220 Def / 208 SpD / 40 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Volt Switch
- Heal Bell
- Thunder Wave

Together Vileplume and Lanturn form a neat little paralysis core that can help give slower wallbreakers the support they need to really make a difference vs offensive teams. The standard Lanturn set can take Fire, Ice, and Flying attacks aimed at Vileplume with ease, and can usually take a Psychic or Psyshock pretty well too, while Vileplume can switch into the Grass types that trouble Lanturn with ease and can heal off non-STAB Earthquakes pretty easily. Heal Bell also keeps Vileplume from being worn down by Burns and Lanturn from Toxic respectively, while also making sure that any offensive Pokémon on your team don't have to suffer Paralysis themselves for too long. Rotom-S makes a good partner as it can switch into troublesome Ground-type attacks more easily and abuse the Paralysis with repeated Air Slashes.

- Hidden Power [Ground] / Sleep Powder / Aromatherapy

First of all HP Fire Plume is shit because Ferroseed is irrelevant anyways and unless you want to waste 20 turns fighting skunk / other poisons and waste all of your moonlight PP you should be using HP Ground.

Secondly this is one of my favorite defensive cores just cause Grumpig is fun. More than that though, Vileplume's biggest cause for worry are strong Fire / Ice types and CM Psychics. With its decently fast taunt and insane special bulk as well as the resistances Thick Fat affords, Grumpig hard walls all of these, and between Taunt+Toxic and a strong Psychic can pretty much kill off all of them. Similarly, Vileplume will chew Knock Offs and fend of Skuntank who otherwise piss of Grumpig, and overall they are just really bulky all around. Both also have really flexible support move pools with lots of coverage options, clerical duties, phazing, status, etc. all easily covered dependant on the needs of your teams.

Piloswine @ Eviolite
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 232 HP / 252 Atk / 24 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Icicle Crash
- Ice Shard
- Stealth Rock

Ahhhh the standard Dentricos core! This is a pretty cool balance core that has really good synergy and one of my all time favorites to use. Piloswine provides a nice soft fire and ice check as well as flying types like Rotom-S, Archeops, Swellow, and Xatu. Vileplume has the ability to break down things such as Ferroseed, Gourgeist, Lilligant, Lanturn, Poliwrath (to an extent), non extrasensory Shiftry, fighting types, SD Samurott, and offensive steels like Klinklang and Mawile which would generally threaten Piloswine. Vileplume also has the ability to sponge most Knock Offs which can severely cripple Piloswine since it relies heavily on its Eviolite to be a blanket check to a large portion of the tier. There isn't really a lot to be said about this core other than that the synergy is has is incredible and it's pretty easy to fit on most teams. The biggest problem I see with this core is that it really doesn't reliably switch into fire or ice types so you really have to be careful not to let Piloswine get weakened as well as the fact that special waters like Floatzel, Poliwrath, and Life Orb Samurott (the special variant) can give it a lot of trouble.
I continue to prove that I am only capable of using standard stuff ^_^

Regirock @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 16 Def / 240 SpD
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Rock Slide
- Thunder Wave
- Earthquake

Regirock forms a nice defensive core with vileplume. It can switch in on the flying types that give plume trouble such as archeops, rotom-fan, scyther, swellow and xatu while being a solid switch in to fire types such as pyroar and magmortar which annoy vileplume. It's also a decent switch in to ice types and psychic types like mesprit, jynx and vanilluxe. In return vileplume can check what regi struggles with being, fighting types like sawk, ape and gurdurr, most water types like sd samu, poliwrath and lanturn, grass types like lilli, torterra, shiftry and some ground types such as rhydon. The biggest problem with this core is special waters like samurott and floatzel (mainly samu) as they can break through both mons with a combination of water and ice stab and combusken which breaks through both with its stabs. Because of this lanturn can compliment this core nicely as it is one of the most reliable switch ins to these in the tier.

Prinplup @ Eviolite
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Stealth Rock
- Defog
- Toxic

Sp def Prinplup is a great mon to pair with Vileplume because of how much of a hassle it is for fire types to handle, being able to either set up rocks to wear them down that way or spam scald for a ton of damage. That being said, a lack of recovery means it's prone to getting worn down if played recklessly. Defensive Vileplume helps with this by being able to check most of the physical attackers in the tier by virtue of its typing + bulk.

And with that last vote, Rapture. wins with 3 votes! Congratulations!

This week, I am picking a mon who only has one effective set in NU, however, it is a powerful threat nonetheless! I am talking about the ice pig himself: Piloswine!

piloswine.gif

Piloswine @ Eviolite
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Icicle Crash
- Ice Shard
- Stealth Rock

Good luck and have fun this week guys! :)

garbodor.gif

Garbodor @ Rocky Helmet | Aftermath
Impish Nature | 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 Spe
Gunk Shot / Drain Punch / Spikes / Toxic Spikes

Garb + Pilo form a pretty cool hazard setting duo that can cover a lot of the tier defensively as well. Pilo is able to handle Bulky Steels and revenge kill / switch into certain ground types, while Garb is able to take fighting hits and punish the opposing team for going for Knock Off due to Helmet + Aftermath.

swellow.gif

Swellow @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Facade
- Brave Bird
- Protect
- U-turn

Swellow and Piloswine are two mons i really enjoy to play or build around. At first. Due to Piloswine's typing and Thick Fat, he can switch on all the weakness of the bird. In addition, Piloswine, with his two stab can easily defeat for Swellow, the Steel-type and the Rock-Type. And at last, Piloswine can support a lot our bird, with the Stealth Rocks. With Ice Shard, Piloswine can easily down a mon to Swellow's KO Range. Overall these two mons paired form a pretty solid core, they can easily fit in a lot of offensive or balanced build.

Roselia @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Spikes
- Giga Drain
- Synthesis
- Sludge Bomb

I go for a less common Pokémon (normally it would be something like Vileplume), despite Roselia + Piloswine is a good spike stacking core since Roselia can deal with the Water types Piloswine has trouble with. Scald is nothing for roselia even when it burns since Roselia has the nice ability Natural Cure what cures the Status of the Pokémon when you switch out. Roselia also helps with special fighting types/moves where Piloswine also has trouble with. Piloswine helps Roselia out with having the ability to break things like Xatu and Swellow where roselia has trouble against. It's overall a decent core that is not much used while it can be really effective.

pelipper.gif

Pelipper @ Leftovers
Ability: Keen Eye
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpA
Bold Nature
- Defog
- Scald
- Roost
- Air Slash

Pilo & SpD Pelipper make a pretty good defensive core. Piloswine can safely wall the electric types that threaten Pelipper, and Peli deals with the water, fighting, and grass types that beat Piloswine. Pelipper can switch into rocks and defog them away for the core and Pilo sets them up. Pilo can also revenge kill some of the mons that do kill Pelipper. Peli can also Roost away any extra damage it suffers, making it last longer.

Ok voting time! Such a small pool of mons, but whatever :P

We got the ultimate johner of them all, metaphysical and their lovely Garbodor! Next up we have a kid fresh on the scene to Matchmaking, Elfar9 and their Swellow! Jarii and their Roselia is very flamboyant, and last, and also the least (jk jk), XenoTech N and their Pelipper.

I am going to start withholding my vote so I can break ties if needed, so with that, get out here and vote!

With 3/4 votes going to Jarii's Roselia, congratulations to him! :) His flamboyance paid off lol.

This week, I decided to go with something I have been having a ton of fun with lately as it is a great wallbreaker and with the right support can just break through many teams (even the bulky ones). I am talking about...

swellow.gif

Swellow @ Choice Specs
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 SpA (if HP Grass)
- Boomburst
- Heat Wave
- U-turn
- Sleep Talk / Hidden Power [Grass] / Tailwind

Arguably, this is the better Swellow set right now as it doesn't need a turn to setup nor does it wear itself down with Orb damage + Brave Bird recoil. I am excited to see what you guys come up with. Good luck and have fun :)
