What is Next Best Thing?
The Next Best Thing is a project where users search through the listed Pokemon's movepool and post about it. In your post, explain what is does and why it should be used over a standard set. Example by me, ?, ?

How does it work?
Every cycle a new Pokemon will be chosen for participants to create a new creative yet effective set, and this set should not be in progress of being written or already uploaded on the Smogdex. The participants will get 3-4 days to make their set and create their post. People may discuss the set posted during these days, the following two days there will be a vote to represent the most creative yet effective set. After the voting, the winner will have been announced and their post will be archived. If you want to make a set based off another, the set must be atleast 2 moves different. If I give a love/like then your post is most likely approved. There must be atleast 4 posts for each cycle, if there is not 4 yet, I must post my own.

Rules

  1. Feel free to be as creative as possible, but you must be able to showcase the viability of your set. Replays are a good asset to demonstrate your arguments - especially for newer players - but are not compulsory.
  2. Your set may not be changed after the voting phase as begun, but may be changed prior to the voting stage.
  3. You may only submit one set per week.
  4. You cannot vote for your own set.
  5. Do not post sets that have either been reserved or have been posted. However, you may reserve a set if the reservation has not been altered for over 24 hours.
  6. Please do not make a habit out of not following up on your reservation.
  7. Please do not reserve a set that currently has an analysis or is in the process of being created.
  8. Finally, try follow the forum rules, meaning that you shouldn't post one-liners, unless voting. Try to also avoid double-posting if possible.

    hahaha, enjoy!

:ss/clefairy:
Clefairy @ Eviolite
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Aromatherapy
- Seismic Toss
- Wish
- Teleport

Clefairy is one of the most bulky fairies in this tier, and also one of the best supporting ones, this is because of her access to Magic Guard, immune to all hazard damage, also the amazing access to wish, allowing it to recover any Pokemon that it switches into. This set allows Clefairy to wish, take the hit from the next turn, and teleport an injured ally in. After that, the mon gets their wish, and HP recovered, as Clefairy wished for after all. Aromatherapy can heal the major statuses on her allies, for example, whenever Scarf Gallade, gets burned, which is a major problem on Gallade, just aromatherapy with with Clefairy and boom, your status has been healed, ez stuffs, Seismic Toss allows Clefairy to chip the mons that are fairy-resistant, so Moonblast is an pretty good, but in this situation, Seismic Toss is better.

This set is an example, you must have a decent reasoning for your set, or I disqualify it for voting.

LETS GET THIS PROJECT STARTED!!!!!

Cycle One - Silvally-Dark

After the shift, Darkvally sorta died when Ribombee came
into the tier, we see that some users still loving Darkvally, esp
xerovis and Katy, so lets show him some love!

Darkvally has been one of my favourite pokemon to use in SS; whether it was the SD or utility set being used, it always did me a solid work.

Swords Dance Fairy Lure Silvally-Dark
:ss/silvally-dark:
Silvally-Dark @ Dark Memory
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Multi-Attack
- Parting Shot
- Iron Head

The main changes on this set from the classic SD set is the choice of Iron Head over Psychic Fangs, as well as Parting shot over Flame Charge or U-Turn.
To be honest I think flame charge would still be better to allow it to outspeed bee and cott, but to abide by the rules of having at least 2 moves different than existing smog sets, I've had to adapt.

Psychic Fangs was a nigh mandatory choice on prior sets to take out Toxicroaks, who were (and probably still will be) a rampant wallbreaker in the NU tier.

Now Silvally dark has to worry about some main threats in Ribombee and Whimsicott, who outspeed and KO Darkvally with high powered fairy STABS. With these move changes, Silvally can lure in the fairies and parting shot out to appropriate checks, weakening either fairy's offensive prowess against your team and bringing in teammates who can build offensive momentum and get rid of them for you.

This set also allows boosted Darkvally to power through aromatisse using Iron Head:

+2 252 Atk Silvally-Dark Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Aromatisse: 248-294 (61 - 72.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Status-Support Silvally-Dark

:ss/Silvally-Dark:
Silvally-Dark @ Dark Memory
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Multi-Attack
- Thunder Wave / Toxic
- U-turn
- Iron Head / Psychic Fangs

Shoutout to Katy, she gave the basic idea.
Like majority said, the latest tier shifts really hurted Silvally-Dark. With Ribombee being an amazing wallbreaker and Aromatisse being one if not the best clearic rn, its really hard to justify bringing Silvally-Dark over its Steel brother.
The main idea was a Thunder Wave support set that catches Ribombee and A-Persian off guard and making them way easier to deal with. Toxic is an alternativ that would allow to cripple Aromatisse better but that is just personal preference.
Multi-Attack is the standard STAB attack and U-turn gains momentum. Iron Head helps to take advantage of the paralyzed Ribombee and helps with all the fairies while Psychic Fangs is standard for hitting Toxicroak.

:silvally: (dark)
Silvally-Dark @ Dark Memory
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 200 Atk / 56 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Multi-Attack
- Flamethrower
- Flash Cannon
- Work Up

work up boosts both ur stats to +1 and therefore gives multi-attack (its stab-move) and also the coverage options in flamethrower and flash cannon a boost, therefore its a nice mixed breaker. flash cannon hits clefairy, aromatisse and ribombee, whereas flamethrower hits ferroseed and alola-sandslash. it also hits stunfisk-g.

IMPRISON

:ss/silvally-dark:

Silvally-Dark @ Dark Memory
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Draco Meteor / Defog
- Imprison
- U-turn
- Multi-Attack

The ultimate spin on an old classic, Silvally-Dark steps into the new generation with a bag full of new tricks. An optimized (but not aawinized) moveset showcasing the utility of Imprison is the wave that is going to push the synthetic pokémon to the top.
With the given EV spread, Silvally-Dark is able to avoid the 3HKO from the fearsome Frosmoth's Ice Beam most of the time, while outpacing base Rotom and tying with opposing Silvallies.

With Imprison, you're invited to a world of possibilities. Draco Meteor allows Silvally-Dark to cripple Choice Specs Drampa and Duraludon, while, with Defog, Imprison Silvally-Dark can act as a valuable tool in hazard-stacking teams. U-Turn and Multi-Attack make it so opposing Silvallies are limited to their coverage moves (in Steel's case, Flamethrower, doing minimal chip, and Dragon and opposing Dark, Flame Charge or Iron Head).

Come use Imprison Silvally-Dark with us in the Catalisador Doubtful Sets Inc. and get a free Choice Scarf Lunatone!

P.S.: The usage of Imprison Silvally-Dark might cause a huge drop in your Elo and GXE. We at Catalisador Sets Inc. are not responsible for such side-effects.

The voting phase is over! By its results, the winner of the Cycle 1 is Status-Support by corthius . Congratulations! Your submission will be added to the Hall of Fame soon. Now, let's move on to the next Cycle!

Cycle Two - Skuntank
:ss/skuntank:

As stated in the Smogdex, because of Skuntank's typing, solid coverage, and decent Speed, he serves as a solid offensive check to NU's Grass-, Ghost-, Fairy-, and Psychic-types. Skuntank can be used as a defensive mon while being a Wallbreaker for many offensive teams, his movepool, is enough to make even more sets, so show 'em off here, guys!

Banned Sets:

The deadline is Saturday 16th of September. Good luck!

specs

:bw/skuntank:
Skuntank @ Choice Specs
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Dark Pulse
- Sludge Bomb
- Fire Blast
- Toxic

specs skuntank has immediate power to break through and with good stab-options in dark pulse and sludge bomb it is a threat to many mons in the metagame. dark pulse hits runerigus, corsola-g and decidueye whereas sludge bomb hits clefairy and aromatisse. fire blast is its coverage of choice and hits ferroseed, the newly dropped silvally-steel and sandslash-a pretty hard. toxic is the 4th move as a poison type guarantees a toxic hit thus anything else could get hit by it and badly poisoned.

choice band

:ss/Skuntank:
Skuntank @ Choice Band
Ability: Stench
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Explosion
- Poison Jab
- Crunch
- Sucker Punch
A good NU mon for a long time with its main roll of stall breaking / on HO teams with Aurora Veil. A physical set was mostly outclasses because the meta was shifted to be really physical heavy so Skuntank adapted to this with its really good Nasty Plot set. However, due to the latest shifts the meta tends to heavy special wallbreaker with a lot more special walls.
This set utilizes Skuntank's actually better attack stat and can hit extremly hard. Skuntank has an amazing offensive typing which makes this mon hard to switch into.
