Flinch Passimian

Passimian @ King's Rock
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Close Combat
- Knock Off

Passi has 2 moves in its arsenal with a very decent flinch chance, so this set supplements those with the King's Rock. Iron Head is a good move for Fairy-types anyway, and Rock Slide for Flying-types. And in Rock Slide, Passi has a non-contact move with a 40% flinch chance, so you don't have to risk touching Vileplume or getting Rocky Helmet recoil. CC & Knock are two more standard moves on Passi that provide STAB and the ability to hit Ghost-types. This set would thrive with Webs support, as Passi isn't really that fast without a Scarf. And whilst it can hit Flying-types super-effectively, your team would need to provide more support here as webs won't affect them.

Passimian @ Leftovers
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
- Knock Off
- Gunk Shot

Is this a good set? No. Is it fun? Hell yes, coming off a tremendous attack stat, passimian hits super hard , and this set allows it to break through common defensive cores by subbing up on passive Pokémon such as Bronzong and hit it’s usual switch ins with a 150 base attack. Works well on webs as a means to break, the set is standard besides sub and focus punch, allowing it to hit ghost types and fairies with its coverage.

Passimian @ Life Orb / Expert Belt
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- U-turn
- Knock Off
- Gunk Shot / Rock Slide

Bro forgets Mienshao we got the GOAT PASSIMIAN. Although the monkey is clearly not better than the cat, this is the same set Life Orb set Mienshao used before it was banned. The last slot (I'd probably just use Gunk Shot) seems interchangeable and Rock Slide catches Talonflame...but the Fire bird doesn't like having its item removed (causing it to be 4x weak to hazards anyways). Enjoy :D

Congratulations to Oathkeepre on winning the Passimian Cycle with your Choice Band set!

Cycle 20 - Braviary
:ss/braviary:
Introducing the eagle Pokemon right off the PU list, Braviary! Its ability in Defiant allows it to boost its Attack by two stages if its stats are lowered by stuff like Defog or Intimidate. Thanks to its Normal-typing, it acts as an amazing Poltergeist switch-in for Pokemon like Dhelmise and Decidueye. It also provides team support in Defog to remove entry hazards and U-turn to bring teammates in. Braviary does have one set banned for this week and looking at its movepool and the role it currently plays in NU makes it the perfect candidate for this week! Submissions for Braviary will end on Friday, March 12th. Have fun!

Braviary (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 HP / 120 SpD / 136 Spe
Careful Nature
- Substitute
- Roost
- Bulk Up
- Brave Bird

Sub Bulk Up is probably the most famous Braviary set at the moment. I personally use enough speed for Adamant Sirfetch'd and the rest in SpD. Depending on how bulky you want it you can use a little less speed but right now I like to be faster than that. Substitute allows Braviary to avoid annoying status and get up multiple Bulk Ups vs defensive mons like non-Haze Mantine or Gastrodon that rely on that Toxic. Roost and Leftovers are used for longevity and Brave Bird is the best STAB for this purpose.
There really isn't that much to explain on how this works, I suggest trying it out yourself! You won't be disappointed.

In a meta where Flygon is the "maybe" the most common scarf user, Braviary can function as a nice one too. It feasts on those pesky Fightings with ease and the one thing it should be worrying about is Stealth Rock, which is why bringing a teammate to handle them is nice. Nothing strange about its moves with STAB Brave Birb and Facade (should it get burned, or statused for that matter), Close Combat naturally dents or kills Steels and Rocks that get in its way, while U-turn lets it pivot on them and bring in something to deal with such checks to it.
