Project NU TeamBuilding Lab (Open for Business in 2024)

Hello! New to NU and figured I’d start out with a team that uses my favorite starter pokemon Feraligatr as the main offensive pokemon. I’m looking for a team that will play into Feral’s strengths and allow it to setup with sword dance so it can potentially sweep.

Thanks in advance!
Welcome to NU! Feraligatr is great on offensive teams, including Sticky Web Hyper Offense. Here is one of my favorite teams I've used in both the NU Open and BLT, which features Feraligatr as one of the main breakers/sweepers. This team is pretty customizable, you can use stuff like physical attacking Thundurus, throw some Stealth Rocks on Flygon, or put a sash on Brambleghast and lead with that instead. Have fun!

Team with fwg core with np pain split bulky heattom, swampert and brute bonnet or a different water resists that isn't bothered by scald

Here you go brother, one FWG core with a side of DFS. I stole the Bonnet and Sandslash-A sets from Ninja. This felt like a good opportunity to utilize Swampert as a breaker and not just a defensive pivot. It performed well on ladder and in the Tournaments room, hope you enjoy!

:sv/mew:
Mew @ Leftovers
Ability: Synchronize
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 64 HP / 252 Atk / 192 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Bulk Up
- Knock Off
- Drain Punch
- Poison Jab
Can I maybe have a team centered around this mew? It's a set that utilises mew's good bulk and coverage to start setting up and with drain punch and lefties, stick around for a while. I don't mind what playstyle it is used on.
With Mew ban almost surely happening this weekend, if not the next, I decided to just drop the Mew team here for you to use before the ban is implemented.

:mew::inteleon::thundurus::krookodile::talonflame::klefki:

Inteleon is nice as breaker. Thundurus can punish Water-types that switch in on Inteleon and Talonflame that Mew struggles with like Vaporeon, Swampert, and Quagsire. Thundurus also punishes Defog from Talonflame and Noivern, helping your Spikes stay up or let Thundurus become a threat. Krookodile is nice speed control, an Electric immunity, and entry hazard setter. Also, you could make it Moxie, but I personally like Intimidate here. Talonflame acts as hazard control and our check to Fighting-types like Mienshao and Infernape. And, a cool set: Toxic Orb Switcheroo Klefki. Swampert and Quagsire are ginormous issues for Mew, and Klefki tends to draw them in. So, I plan to take advantage of this by stealing their Leftovers and crippling them with Toxic. After all of this, Mew is usually ready to sweep teams late-game or break mid-game for a Krookodile sweep. Mew's Weakness Policy is nice to take advantage of weak Knock Off users and U-turn Pokemon to gain powerful setup. The EVs on Mew let it live a Krookodile's Knock Off from full (a.k.a. if there is Stealth Rock, you're dead :/), so it can set up on it, get its Weakness Policy boost, and proceed to OHKO it with Leech Life and win with +3 Atk.

Here's a game: vs a 1485 guy on ladder (with similar team but with mowtom)

BU Mew Team (if you really want it): https://pokepast.es/3005c17663ed75ea (I recommend the DD team, but this could be used.)

As a I see no requests currently, I’ll make y’all work!

:sv/deoxys-defense:
I request a Deo-D team using one of either a pivot set or a setup set. Preferably, either Recover/Teleport/attacking move/hazards or Recover/setup move (cm or cosmic)/attacking move/(hazards/taunt/whatever works). If a change is needed to this, you may fix the moveset. I believe stall/fat will love a good hazard setter and balance will enjoy a slow pivot for a wallbreaker. Just suggestions. Other than including a Deo-D, you’re free.

:sv/scrafty:
Scrafty @ Leftovers
Ability: Shed Skin
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Bulk Up
- Drain Punch
- Knock Off
- Rest
Hi, can I please have a team built around scrafty? This is frankly just a mon that I don't know much about in NU and would like to use it in NU. I don't mind what playstyle it is used on, any works.

:sv/goodra:
Goodra @ Choice Specs
Ability: Sap Sipper
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 80 HP / 252 SpA / 176 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower
- Sludge Wave
- Dragon Pulse

I’m not familiar with the tier, but Choice Specs Goodra sounds dope as hell. I’d love to see what the builders come up with.

I would like to request a team with Gallade, Lucario, and Incineroar, please.
Sorry about our late response, but we have a team before possible Gallade ban!

Explanations & some replays are here, enjoy suspect ladder!

Hello!

I am starting to learn NU and would like to build a team centered around W1 of "break this core" with Future sight Garticuno and CB Flygon.

I tend to lean more towards bulky offence and balance, so a team in that vein would be awesome :)

Thanks!

Click on the sprites for the link.

This idea behind this team is to use future sight from Articuno-G alongside strong physical breakers to smash through the opposing team. Very few mons can take a future sight at the same time as a strong physical attack from flygon, incineroar, or toxicroak. Instead of using hazard removal we have boots spam (and mons that are naturally resistant to hazards like flygon and bronzong) and plan to ignore hazards. Speed control comes from our dual priority on flygon and toxicroak. Bronzong helps tie up some loose ends and sets rocks for the team. Sylveon provides wish support to keep our team healthy (especially bronzong) as most of the offensive mons also have defensive utility as well. Hope you enjoy the team!

Can someone make a toxicraok rain team?
:toxicroak:
click him ^

Rain is super easy to make so this isn't exactly the most creative team. Tornadus serves as the primary rain setter with Prankster + Rain Dance, while also acting as an offensive threat with Hurricane and Weather Ball. Basculegion and Kingdra are the main rain sweepers. Klefki is often the backup Rain setter as it has a better defensive profile than Tornadus. Gligar serves as a defensive pivot, with the given speed EVs letting it outpace Breloom, which can be quite problematic for rain teams. Many of these roles can be fulfilled by other Pokemon changed to your liking, take care!
