Hello guys!

So, this is my second RMT, and this is a team that has given me quite some success using the volt-turn strategy; I have peaked at 1600, and I think I can rise above that if I can iron out my team's weaknesses. A rate would really be appreciated!

Teambuilding Process: I started out with a common Volt-turning core, that being Landorus-T, mega-Manectric, and Talonflame. This core covered each other's weaknesses fairly well (bar water) and provided a lot of momentum changes. This core had some problems, such as the a weakness to defiant bisharp, so I added Keldeo for wallbreaking power. Latias was necessary for defog, and to support teammates with healing wish and defog. I thought this team did quite well, So I threw in Bisharp to take on the Lati-twins and fairy type Pokemon, which I thought my team had some weaknesses to. [I feel though, he is kind of the weak link on my team]

Time for set details!
landorus-therian.gif

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 HP / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- U-turn

Sorry, but many of these sets are hella unoriginal sets, though that's why I need you guys to help me out with them. Standard SR landorus. A SR setter is quite important to a team, and Landorus is quite reliable in doing this; not to mention he has a nice immunity to electric type moves. He works well with other pokemon on the team. Stone edge over knock off to hit talonflame harder, and provide EdgeQuake coverage.

manectric-mega.gif

Manectric @ Manectite
Ability: Lightningrod
EVs: 40 HP / 252 SpA / 216 Spe
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Flamethrower
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Mega Manectric is the mega evolution on my team. He is great for many reasons, which includes fast-volt switch, killing high-speed targets such as greninja, keldeo, and birdspams. He has great synergy with landorus therian, and together they provide nice offensive synergy. (With Lando-t beating Scarfchomp, Tyranitar, and many other targets which megaman has trouble with, and mega manectric beating keldeo, greninja, and azumarill, which all check lando-t). The EV's are to give him some extra bulk (I really don't know their purpose, I saw some other megaMan teams with this spread)

talonflame.gif

Talonflame @ Choice Band
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- U-turn
- Tailwind

Talonflame finishes off the MegaMan-LandoT core quite well. Targets such as Mega-Venusaur and Conkeldurr are facewrecked by a CB Brave Bird, and she also adds even more offensive power to the team. She serves as a good revenge killer and late-game sweeper as well, and provides Fire and Flying type coverage.

latias.gif

Latias (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Defog
- Healing Wish

Now, come the supporting mons of the team, and Latias is the star here. She provides defog support, as the above core does not enjoy taking SR damage (especially talonflame). Healing wish can be game changing, as she can heal up weakened targets to provide an opportunity for a lategame sweep/victory. She also acts as another counter to Conkeldurr and megasaur, and occasionally, a LO draco meteor is needed to shoo away pesky targets.

keldeo.gif

Keldeo @ Choice Specs
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Scald
- Hydro Pump
- Secret Sword
- Icy Wind

Keldeo is another special attacker who functions well on the team. There are now a few targets that Lando/MegaMan/Talonflame don't deal with particularly well. These include Landorus, Hippowdon, Gliscor, and tyranitar (to an extent). Keldeo is a solid check to all of these pokemon, not to mention he provides some wallbreaking power as well.
excadrill.gif

Excadrill @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin
- Rock Slide
- Iron Head

*Suggested by Cinco Diabolo*. Excadrill helps to harass lati twins and help dent the genies as well, as well to provide good anti-fairy coverage.

SACKED

bisharp.gif

Bisharp @ Life Orb (thinking about an assault vest as well)
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
- Sucker Punch
- Pursuit

Unfortunately, I think I must introduce the weak link of the team. (Or at least, I think he is). Up to this point, I felt like my team had some weaknesses to the Lati twins and fairies, so I put in Bisharp. He provides solid dark type coverage, with knock-off and iron head hitting things especially hard, especially with adamant nature and a life orb. He can also pursuit trap the lati twins, which is a nice plus.

Threats

I don't see glaring flaws with the team at first, but there are two pokemon that give my team problems; landorus and thundurus, but mostly landorus. Landorus-I can outspeed keldeo and OHKO with a psychic, and I have don't have a good switch into him (maybe latias...). This team relies a lot on speed, so a prankster t-wave from thundurus can be quite crippling. Mega Manectric is a shaky check to thundurus.

Conclusion

I think this team is well-rounded, has it's flavor of volt-turning coolness, and is fairly formidable. I just need some "ironing-out" and critique from experienced players will help me out.

Thanks to everyone who has read this post!

From,

AtharvaLarva (aspiring battler/baller/college student/dreamer)

Hey there, pretty cool team.

Volt-Turn is a really cool concept, being able to wear down the opponents team enough in order for your late-game cleaner to come in & finish them off, so props there. The synergy your team has is really nice too, as you seem to have most of your weaknesses covered. However, you have quite a few threats aside from the ones that you listed. That said, let's get straight into this rate. Now, according to your post, your team is quite weak against Thundurus-I, especially Nasty Plot ones with Focus Blast. Thundurus-I has plenty of set up opportunities to take advantage of, & Latias can't take a +2 HP Ice or Hidden Power Flying, & Keldeo is your only thing that's faster than it, but to get it in safely, you'll have to sack one of your 'Mons in order to take it down with a Specs boosted Hydro Pump. To help with your Thundurus problem, I would suggest running Choice Scarf Excadrill in place of your current Bisharp. Choice Scarf Excadrill makes an excellent addition to your team, as he can easily KO threats to your team such as the after-mentioned Thundurus-I, among others. In addition, Scarf Excadrill harasses the Lati-Twins & can assault Fairy types with a STAB Iron head.

Once again, really cool team. Good luck & have fun laddering!

Only because of your mention of Landorus-I and Thundurus, I'll put forward Yache Berry Landorus-T with HP Ice. Unfortunately the move to remove will be U-Turn, which may then lead to using an Impish Lando-T over your Jolly U-Turn set.
The next order of business would definitely be Bisharp. U-Turn Scizor can deal with Lati twins, right? Scizor even gets Knock Off, but I'm only mentioning it because Bisharp had it, not because it augments Scizor's coverage or use as well as other moves. You might know that changing Bisharp for Scizor without altering Lando-T makes your genie problem even worse tho.
Edit: A Choice Band Scizor is good at Pursuit trapping like Bisharp, too.

Cinco Diablo and Kacey Nu, thanks for the rate! (to Kacey Nu as well; I tried Scizor on the team before this version, but I found that he wasn't too awesome). CS Exca is quite interesting, and I'll add him to the team and update the RMT soon. Just one question.

Would an Adamant nature be better for a CS Excadrill? At adamant, he can still outspeed the fastest pokemon in OU, mega Manectric! Or would you still recommend a jolly nature?

Keep the replies coming :D

You'll want to at worst, speed-tie opposing Choice Scarf Excadrill, but Adamant is good if you opt for more power.

Hey AtharvaLarva,

Choice Scarf Excadrill IMO is a good addition to your team for the aforementioned reasons, especially being that it outspeeds most things in the tier so it can get kills or spin effectively. Because of this I don't think you need defog on latias. Right now the best move I can think of is probably Roost, as LO damage is a bitch and helps Latias's survivability in order to heal your other pokes. Or you could run a coverage move, like HP fire/fighting or surf for latias's common checks such as Bisharp, ferrothorn, or T-tar.
