Official Halo 3 Thread

Well, I want Carbon to do well, but I don't think they will win the event. I think TD, Str8, FB, and Instinct all have a legitimate chance at winning, with Str8 and TD obviously being the favorites. There could be a lot of upsets this event, or it could be straight seed finishing (Str8 1st, TD 2nd, Instinct 3rd, etc.). I love watching the events and following MLG, even though I'm not really that good at the game (highest in MLG was 38, overall highest skill 41 :/).

I mean, no one will ever be able to take down an on fire Str8, which is how they were the last event. Legit is just ridiculous, with Elamite stepping up his game last event, T2 playing consistent, and Snipedown going off (remember that Amplified game early in Columbus?)

That said, I'd love for Instinct to win; I'm a Neighbor (and Roy, naturally) fanboy :)

Str8 to win every event for the rest of the year.

At Dallas I'm predicting:
1. Str8
2. TD
3. FB

And Tad you're a lot better than your rank, easily a 50 in TS or something if you made a new account, and mid 40's in MLG for sure.

Rekt i think the thing with Halo is and getting a 50 is not neccessarily insane skills but more having a plan and just being organised. Particularly in Team Slayer i find that even if you are technically worse good organisation always usually wins.

I've also come to realise that confidence is extremely important when playing.

Ill add you rekt and i look forward to playing a bit with you.

Individual skill in Halo 3 means close to nothing to be honest. I'm good at this game because I play a lot, watch a lot of VoD along with my own gameplay, and I'm smart about who I pick my battles with.

And I can snipe >_>

I probably win about 60% of my BR battles, and since I realize that I change my gameplay so that I am always the one with the first shot and am always in the better position, and if someone shoots me first I turn and run. I have friends who Out BR me half the time, but they can't get past a 40 in MLG and can barely get a 50 in other playlists.

I used to watch the matches before halo 3 came out.

At that time they played halo 2 and the final matches consisted of carbon and final boss.

Whatever happened to final boss?

Well, I'm going to assume you saw FB crush the '07 championships in Vegas, not losing a single game the entire tournament. That was the last event of Halo 2. Final Boss stayed together through the beginning of Halo 3 and won the first H3 event, although they had to come from the loser's bracket after losing to Instinct (which at the time consisted of Roy, Lunchbox, Mackeo, and Victory X) in the winner's bracket. After Meadowlands '08 (the first Halo 3 event), FB placed 7th at the second event and then 5th at the third event. This led to a team change, with FB dropping their incomprable leader Walshy in favor of then Str8 Rippin team member Neighbor. This iteration of FB finished the season placing 3rd at Toronto, 3rd at Dallas, and 4th at Vegas. After the end of the season, Ogre 1 retired and Strongside and Neighbor left the team. This left Ogre 2 as the sole remaining member of the dynasty that was Final Boss. He proceeded to pick up Mackeo, Victory X, and FearItSelf as teammates for Meadowlands '09. This roster lasted the first 2 events of this season, but after Colombus, Mackeo was dropped in favor of StrongSide. Thus, FB's current roster is Ogre 2, Victory X, FearItSelf, StrongSide.

I'd like to play with some smogoners if anyone is willing to help me out a bit. I think I was a fairly good player, but I could never break 42 because none of my friends are very good at the game and I routinely get stuck with crappy players. I don't play a lot of halo anymore but if people are willing to play with me then i'll get back into things.

My GT is bearzly if anyone wants to add me. My stats on bungie.net are pretty skewed because I played a lot with my friends when the game came out. My friends weren't that good so we hovered around 30-35 and I got to beat up on noobs.

Would anyone be up to a 4v4 Smogon MLG? I'm sure we have enough

I'm down. Would it be okay without a mic? I broke mines, which resulted to me playing Gears of Wars nowadays. I just want to lose my rust for Halo 3, I used to be really good.

Can't believe they all split up.

Never expected them to drop their leader first either. Shocking.
They were my favorite team but carbon somehow came and dropped their winning streak.

I remember them dropping saiyan since he was holding them back. Even I agree that he wasn't their best player.

Taking part in a 60 minute long montage called Power Hour, where 60 people each have 1 minute of clips of whatever kind they want in it. Does anyone have any experience with editing videos and such here?

I'm up for anything. Never really played MLG though... Sounds hard.

GT: EndlessKnightZ

Just send me a message saying you're from Smogon and I'll accept.

People from Smogon play Halo 3? And they play MLG?!? You guys are twice as cool as I had hoped...

I saw that Power Hour trailer on MLG, it was in the weekly top 10 I think? Anyway, as long as it isn't an hour of game play that should be sick.

Also, I'd totally add you guys, but I haven't got my rank on yet, so I couldn't really play any ranked. Going for a 50 in MLG though! Not really...

Edit: If you guys haven't seen it

Anyone going to be watching Dallas?

Reckon Str8 can come out on top again? Or will Strongside re-uniting with Ogre 2 spark a Final Boss Revival? Or will instinct now perform with getting rid of Walshy?

Str8

FB will take an event to get warmed up to each other, and at Anaheim they will be top 3.

Edit - Instinct looked really strong, but R1 doesn't really count for much.
