Okay Team, Needs an Opinion

I have played my way though most of the pokemon games over the years, making teams and beating the games. My teams were always meant for in-game play, maybe for battling friends occasionally. I have decided that I want a new team, a team for competitive play, a good team. So recently I went onto some sites, researching pokemon, EVs, standard movesets, and pokemon roles (man, was I surprised). Now I have created a team, but, like I said earlier, I am new at this. So here's the team. All criticism accepted, comments more than welcome.

Note: None of the pokemon have items because, quite honestly, I know nothing about items for competitive battle.

Metagross @ ???
Ability: clear body
EV's: 252 attk, 252 spd, 6 hp
nature: adamant
- meteor mash
- agility
- earthquake
- explosion

Metagross is a physical sweeper, and if I ever want to use him in a 3-pokemon battle, I can use him with tyranitar and lucario, I suppose, because they arent affected by sandstorm.

Tyranitar @ ???
ability: sand stream
EV's: 252 attk, 252 spd, 6 hp
nature: adamant
- earthquake
- dragon dance
- rock slide
- crunch

Tyranitar is also a physical sweeper, and i think thats a pretty standard moveset for him, but if you have any other ideas, i'd love to know.

Lucario @ ???
ability: inner focus
EV's: 252 sp attk, 252 spd, 6 hp
nature: timid
- aura sphere
- calm mind
- dragon pulse
- psychic

Lucario is a special sweeper. Pretty basic, but he works well with tyranitar and metagross. One thing im sort worried about is that metagross and lucario are both steel. Is this ok?

Togekiss @ ???
ability: serene grace
EV's: 252 sp attk, 252 spd, 6 hp
nature: timid
- air slash
- aura sphere
- nasty plot
- flamethrower

Togekiss is a special sweeper. I mostly threw in the flamethrower because i wasnt sure what else to have and I dont have a fire type. If anyone has a better move to put there tell me.

Dusknoir @ ???
ability: pressure
EV's: 252 hp, 129 attk, 129 sp def
nature: impish
- shadow punch
- ice punch
- rest
- confuse ray

Dusknoir is a tank. I think he's pretty good, but I just dont like him that much... I think he's pretty good, but I just dont like dusknoir, so I need a different tank to replace him with... for right now he's ok though.

Kingdra @ ???
ability: swift swim
EV's: 252 sp attk, 252 spd, 6 hp
nature: modest
- surf
- rain dance
- ice beam
- dragon pulse

Kingdra is a special sweeper. Takes advantage of rain dance with swift swim and surf, dragon pulse is good for STAB, and I just threw in ice beam.

All suggestions/changes welcome, whether they be moves, EV's, items, or even the pokemon. Thanks.

It seems to me like you're coming straight from ''playing in-game and with your friends" and jumping into the competitive battling envirnment, when I can see you don't know much about it. I don't have a real rate for you, since in terms of the RMT I think this thread is gonna get locked by a Mod (see Legend of Elune's post), but I will suggest that you go on Shoddy and watch some battles possibly, and maybe read some analysis' and articles on the metagame before actually trying to make a team.

This team is a bit of a none-starter really. I think you should immerse yourself into the competitive scene for a little longer before you try and make your first team.

- Go on Shoddy and watch some of the higher ranked players to pick up some ideas.

- Lurk around the forums and take a look through old RMTs etc to see what other people are using.

- Look through our on-site articles here:

http://www.smogon.com/dp/articles/

- Have a gander at our Items section to find out the ins-and-outs of each item:

http://www.smogon.com/dp/items/

- And of course, look through the Strategy Pokedex for detailed information on how to use each Pokemon:

http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/

If you still feel you need guidance after all that, then look into our tutoring programme where experienced players will be happy to teach you the art of competitive battling.
