Dude Siamato you're a madman LMAO, really appreciate you
I'd say it's pretty cool, I always try to be as nice and kind as I can be, which often leads to meeting a bunch of awesome people.
About me
My initials are SC, soooo yeah you can probably figure it out.
Greek food!! I love Greek food so much, and I will take any opportunity I can to eat Tzatziki, Feta cheese or lamb. In terms of specific dishes, I will always be a sucker for pasta (especially fettuccine meals).
Probably some field in engineering. I have always been interested in maths and physics but becoming an engineer has always been more appealing than becoming a mathematician or physicist. If all else fails, I have a fair bit of experience being a leader with young-ish kids through handball, so I could probably find a job at a daycare or preschool.
I would probably sacrifice a mix of health practises and hobbies. I don't play sports very competitively and while I do value my hobbies a lot, they're not as essential as sleep and studying are.
Definetly a follower, I've always been a bit socially awkward and passive when it comes to social interactions, so I rarely find myself being the leader when it comes to group projects or doing stuff with friends.
Quokka! Have you seen that smile (I mean they're technically not smiling, but we overlook that)
Dogs, due to me being held at gunpoint. Cats are also cool, I guess...
Uhh, Mario I guess? Idk I can't really think of anything else, Mario is just the first thing that came to mind (aside from Pokémon obviously, but that one is soooo boring)
I'd probably say like 2 years ago, because any actually significant period of history anywhere would be littered with diseases, social injustice, high crime rates, etc. About 2 years ago was when I started playing Hollow Knight, which is an experience I would definetly want to relive. Awesome game btw, if you're reading this and haven't played it, you should. Sorry for the boring answer tho :(
EDM and lofi, I don't really have a favourite song per se but I like a lot of music from GlitchxCity and NoCopyrightSounds.
The emotes I use the most are
 :fire: :goat:  and
For emotes that I don't often use in an OM setting, it would probably be
:clover:
since we often react with it to draft replays whenever somebody lucked another person.
Yes... I think. I'm fairly sure that thick beards and viking helmets don't just suddenly appear whenever we go bathing in the baltic sea.
He would try to find some kind of clever loophole, but ultimately fail.
Admittedly, I didn't really follow any sports in the Paris Olympics, but I did follow the handball Olympics! On the men's side, nothing impressive happened because Denmark just steamrolled everyone.... but Sweden got 4th and Norway won it all on the women's side, which was really cool to watch! Oh and I of course can't forget to mention that Turkish guy who got a silver medal without any equipment, but that answer was quite obvious due to how popular Dikec became.
Uhhh, I am not the guy you should ask when it comes to this stuff, so I'll just give some terribly bad answer like "he should embody the charming charizzard he is"
It's clearly Atha cause imagine being "the best AAA player" but not win a single SVAAA circuit tournament. SMH
I am not really sure... but I do have a lot of close friends that plan to move to France once we graduate, so I will probably travel there sometime to meet up with them when they're studying in university. So maybe like 2-4 years in the future?
About mons
In SVOMs it really only exists in BH and MNM, and it's certainly bad in BH so it would probably be MNM (dd sweeper that can break etern + lati magearna cores I guess???) In general OMs though, it would probably be one of the NDAAA / SM / ORAS metagames just because having magic guard pre mega is so useful on it.
PIC, it just hit such a solid balance between being fun, competitive, having room for innovation yet being stable enough to where you could consistently rely on solid team structures.
Camomons, come on now that one was very low-hanging fruit.
BH because well, you can use (almost) anything on (almost) any mon. I do also want to mention MNM because it felt quite unexplored throughout the year, and there were a lot of opportunities to innovate new sets and techs on a lot of mons.
BH banned a total of like two cheese-enabling moves, and that really goes to show how balanced the metagame is. Nothing has arguably felt overwhelming, and it finds a good balance between having enough variance to where there are constantly new opportunities to innovate, but not too much variance to the point of feeling like the metagame is unstable.
I really enjoyed playing PIC, which at this point isn't much of a surprise. However, GG was also extremely fun throughout the year, even if the metagame was a bit unstable with stuff like Baxcalibur, Volcarona and Raging Bolt around.
AAA has like a billion resource council members, and it shows because its almost always on top the VR changes, sample teams, speed tiers, etc. It also manages to constantly make more resources that help players get into the metagame, which is something that no other metagame really does.
In terms of individual players that inspired me, Career was a very big motivation for why I branched out in the beginning of the 2024 circuit, as I admired the way he prepped and played the game. Watching his circuit championship run was also awesome, and I followed a lot of his replays in AAA Seasonal (the 2023 one) when I was tryharding it in losers bracket. Oh, and as I mentioned in the interview with April, the AAAPL 1 Charizzard gang was a very big source of inspiration, and one of the main reasons why I branched out.
Atha in AAA, we have to run it back after deadgaming in OMWC finals. QT in BH because both games we've played in the past year have been absolutely terrible. Cotta in GG since he stalled me r2 of GG Seasonal, and went on to win the entire thing. Yes I am petty and spiteful. Ivar in MNM because I'm pretty sure that we haven't played eachother in MNM once this entire year outside of test games, like wtf??? And then Kinetic in STAB because I am like 0-4 against Kinetic's Clodsire teams (I spam pex in STAB). I know PIC doesn't count because it's no longer part of the circuit, but if it gets an indovidual tour or two at some point, then I would love to fight Chromate.
Since I am quite unfamilliar with OM history, then I am not especially familliar with the retired players. However, I would like to run it back vs Jrdn (if he counts ig) because I had a lot of fun in our OMPL set.
Yeah. As I said earlier, I am always bothered by my losses so I constantly think back to them, even months after I played them. Hell, to this day I still sometimes think back to that one game we played in AAA Seasonal where I choked against you (Siamato), and that game was over a year ago.
It depends a lot on how much knowledge and experience we have in the tier(s) we're playing in. If I feel like I have an underlying advantage when it comes to a certain metagame, then I am more inclined to bring something I am comfortable with. This is because they have likely not played against my type of team while I am more likely to have played against the type of team that they are using with my own, so I have an idea of how the game plays out and what I need to do to win. On the other hand, if I feel like I have an underlying disadvantage, then I am more likely to bring something different (still solid though!) but with techs and prep for teams they typically bring. If they use a lot of offense, I'll make sure to have a scarfer and reliable priority, while if they use a lot of fatter teams, then I'll try exploring different breakers that match up well against the defensive cores they usually have. Ideally, most good team should of course have a mix of speed control and breaking power, but the way in which the two are used on a team can vary a lot. It is also worth noting that it's beneficial to change the style of team I use from what I am comfortable with if I suspect that my opponent wants to lean into prepping or even cteaming territory. Most of the time it's pretty easy to spot "cteamers" if you try, so it is especially important to vary my prep if the teams I usually use have any glaring weaknesses or threats.
Build teams and get comfortable with a specific style. I already voiced this in the main interview, but building is the best way to learn a metagame and how certain weaknesses develop, which you can take advantage of when trying to prep against opponents. From experience, quickly developing a specific style of team that you are comfortable with can level the playing field, giving you more breathing room in-game. As you contiunuously use the same style of teams, you can both refine it to be better and better, and learn the ins and outs of how matchups play out in more cases. This just minimises the disadvantage when you are playing somebody who has more experience and knowledge than you.
Atmosphere and team activity truly goes a long way. While it is of course important to have a mix of good players, support and activity, having an active team chat at all times not only makes the tournament more fun, but also promotes better prep and matchup knowledge. A decent player with solid prep can easily beat a good player with mediocre prep.
The more team tours the better! A side metagame team tours would definetly be a lot of fun, and it would promote the growth of many smaller metagames that have tons of untapped potential.
Kind of? OMotM and LCotM are both obv very helpful and 24 metas are definetly a lot, though it's often the case that OMotM metagames are recycled due to being more popular so I guess it's a bit less than 24. This can lead to a lot of metagames (some of which are probably really cool and deserve some attention) being left in the dust. While it might be unrealistic, having some kind of circulating individual tour for them could definetly be a way to shine some light on them. Another idea could be the aforementioned spotlight team tournament which would most likely be very casual, but with say 8/10 slots of new metagames, it could definetly be an enjoyable time.
Have fun lol. I was very lucky to experience very little burnout over this past year, but I think that part of the reason why I didn't was due to a self-inflicted restrain I had on myself to enjoy prepping and playing as much as I could. After all, we play this game on our free time as a hobby, so the entire reason for playing should ultimately be to have fun. Playing in the team tournaments over the year were also very good for combating burnout, as you get used to the high pressure environment whilst using prep that has gone through many discussions, making you very confident in it. Talking to people is also just a good way to fight burnout, as they give you more motivation to keep going and keep playing. I found it very helpful to set specific goals as well, such as placing better than a friend in a tournament or going out of my way to use a specific mon or style I usually wouldn't.
Wow that was a lot. Thank you Siamato for all of the questions, it was a pleasure to be bombarded with them
Also, please lmk if I missed any questions or would like me to elaborate on anything.
