Project OM Matchmaking - On Hiatus Until gen 9

Rip Bolt Beak.
:ss/Darmanitan-zen:
Darmanitan-Zen @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- King's Shield
- Lava Plume
- Core Enforcer
- Spikes
This set can improof Pheromosa, set up hazards, burn opponents.
It is so slow so Core Enforcer can suppress most PH users like Regigigas, Giratina, etc.
With Lava Plume and Core Enforcer, it is easy to kill Zac-c and Zamazenta-c, and burns them.

Week 24: Choice Band Zacian (Mix and Mega)
:ss/zacian:

EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Entei @ Pinsirite
Ability: Pressure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Sacred Fire
- Extreme Speed
- Howl
- Stone Edge

Pinstei provides a good offensive partner to Zacian, as it covers the steels, bulky fires like ho-oh or opposing entei and revenge other, frailer pokemon that would otherwise revengekill zacian. Meanwhile, Zacian breaks open bulky waters like slowbro and kinda just breaks through what entei can't due to zacians' sheer wallbreaking capability with that instant +2 attack on switchin.

Zygarde @ Lucarionite
Ability: Aura Break
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Thousand Arrows
- Substitute
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage/Extreme Speed/Pain Split

Lucarionite Zygarde and Band Zacian form a very strong offensive core that, with Zacian's coverage moves, hit almost every type in the game for super effective damage. Both of these mons can function as breakers and sweepers, chipping down each other's checks until one or both can sweep. With this set, the idea is to set up a sub to avoid wisp and intimidate while dragon dancing up until you can deal very high damage to zacian's resistances or just outright sweep with zygarde. You can use outrage for high risk, high reward plays or use extreme speed as a form of speed control and to revenge kill high speed, low health targets. Pain split is if you want to have a semi-reliable form of recovery to increase zygarde's longevity. This core has some trouble with -ate speed mons but other than that will have no trouble blasting teams.

Future Sight Slowbro

:ss/slowbro:

Slowbro @ Sablenite
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Future Sight
- Teleport
- Slack Off

Slowbro is an excellent partner for Zacian as it helps take attacks from Ho-Oh and Solgaleo, two of Zacian's best checks and allows Zacian to have some leeway in prediction games with the assistance of Future Sight, allowing Zacian to have an easier time vs Eternatus and opposing Ho-Oh.

Ho-Oh @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 208 Atk / 52 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Curse
- Roost
- Brave Bird
- Sacred Fire

Even with Zacian's stellar power, it still finds that some Steel-types in the metagame can easily come into its moves and then threaten it out, taking the chance to pivot. Ho-Oh is a strong check to those Steel-Types, and it sees through those checks with its Curse set, which I think is a good offensive partner to the set posted. Zacian can break most of Ho-Oh's checks, and ease its set-up opportunities, while Ho-Oh is happy to come into a few Steels and scare them out for Zacian to resume its breaking. As a bonus, Zacian and Ho-Oh can both seriously chunk Toxapex and force it into some bad situations to deal with, making it easier for the other partner to go through it eventually.

Week 25: Natural Cure Garchomp (Almost Any Ability)

Ability: Natural Cure

This week we're trying out a fun new innovative set that has sparked out of the new AAA metagame! I encourage you all to try this thing out on the ladder with whatever you post this week, it's really fun!

You have until 3/26 to post a partner for Garchomp. As always, reservations only last 24 hours so make sure to finish posts in a timely manner.

:SS/togekiss:
Togekiss @ Life Orb
Ability: Triage
EVs: 96 HP / 116 Def / 252 SpA / 44 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Draining Kiss
- Flamethrower
- Safeguard

This Togekiss set is EVd so it outspeeds 0 speed fini while reaching 301 HP after taking LO recoil from full, which lets it take 3 Stosses from a blob without healing. The remaning 116 evs are in def but they can be put wherever really. I ran Roost last move on mine, but Safeguard might be especially good in this new meta as it lets you potentially 1v1 Toxic blobs. Psyshock is also a consideration since it hits Pex and blobs hard.

Now for the synergy. This Kiss tends to struggle with both Tran and Pex, both of which are exploited very hard by NC Chomp. Toxic (a staple of both Pex and Tran) is now a very good move in this new meta and Garchomp comes in on it for free. It uses both Tran and Pex as setup fodder, easily shrugging off any chip by resting and then having its sleep cured after switching out. Moreover, similarly to how PH chomp worked, this set really punches holes into teams that can't hit it super effectively and instead try to wear it down. Corv/Skarm both lose to it, unless they run setup of their own. As for Togekiss, its a solid offensive check to Grasses like Bulu and Zarude, as well as faster Dragons like Noivern that can threaten Garchomp out or set up on it.

Reserving Magic Guard Moltres ig

EDIT:
:ss/tapu_fini:
Magic Guard Moltres (Tapu Fini) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpA
Bold Nature
- Defog
- Knock Off
- Scald
- Moonblast

Tapu Fini is the classic and boring partner for Garchomp. It resists Dragon and Ice and Garchomp takes on the Desolate Land Fire types and blocks Volt Switch for Fini.

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Desolate Land
EVs: 228 HP / 252 SpA / 28 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Magma Storm
- Solar Beam
- Taunt
- Stealth Rock

It's a garchomp set that doesn't run rocks, and a Scald Absorber that doesn't beat Fini. As such, Heatran is the perfect partner to cover those issues. Between the two of them, there's a very powerful stallbreaking core, which means the rest of the team has to worry a lot less about that matchup. It also outpaces 0 speed Bulu and Togekiss for Garchomp, helping ensure the core is less weak to that; you can run more speed if you're worried about faster spreads, such as if the rest of the team is weak to those threats, but it's not usually worth it IMO.

Big man

:ss/avalugg:

Avalugg @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Dauntless Shield
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Icy Needles
- Big Hug / Rasputin
- Rejuvinate
- Beyblade

Big man forms a pretty decent defensive core with the old Chomper, serving as a switchin to Weavile and Bulu as well as opposing Chomps. Meanwhile Chomp can take advantage or Pex or Volcarona switching in to setup.
There's not that much more to say, it's a physical wall and a special wall that go well together.

Built a team around it featuring The Number Man's Togekiss set:
