[OVERVIEW]
Omastar is widely regarded as one of the best Pokemon in UU due to its excellent defensive and offensive qualities. Omastar's access to Spikes is incredibly important for virtually every playstyle, and it finds itself to be the easiest Spikes setter to fit on teams due to its great Defense and decent defensive typing in Water / Rock, which gives it useful resistances to Flying- and especially Normal-type moves; these traits also make it one of the best leads in the metagame and a solid check to powerful Pokemon like Scyther, Fearow, and Kangaskhan. Additionally, Omastar's sky-high Special Attack prevents it from being completely passive when running defensive sets, threatening most of the Pokemon it checks with a strong, STAB-boosted Surf, and allows it to become an extremely deadly rain sweeper when paired with Swift Swim that can completely decimate teams once its checks have been taken down. However, while Water / Rock does provide some handy resistances, it also gives Omastar very common weaknesses to Grass-, Electric-, Ground-, and Fighting-type moves, making it more difficult for it to consistently check Pokemon like Choice Band Granbull and Kangaskhan and lessening its effectiveness as a check to Fire-types like Ninetales, since they often run Grass-type coverage. Omastar also suffers from poor special bulk, meaning strong neutral or super effective special attacks will often severely cripple or outright KO it. Omastar's lack of reliable recovery and vulnerability to status don't help it either, since Leftovers can instantly be negated by poison or burn and offensive sets detest being paralyzed due to their reliance on outspeeding foes. Omastar is also extremely slow without Swift Swim, so it often must take a hit before it can do anything.

Spikes is an incredibly powerful support tool, since it wears down grounded foes every time they switch in, limiting their opportunities while also making it easier for Omastar's teammates to take down bulkier threats. STAB Surf lets Omastar take down Fire-, Ground-, and Rock-types like Ninetales, Gligar, and Lunatone. Toxic cripples and stacks offensive pressure on most Pokemon that try to switch into Omastar, which gives it more opportunities to set Spikes. Protect helps Omastar rack up Toxic damage, gives it a turn of free Leftovers recovery, and allows it to scout for super effective attacks. Hidden Power Grass is an option to threaten an OHKO on opposing Omastar while also hitting other Water-types like Blastoise, Lanturn, and Quagsire. Another option is Ice Beam to take down Scyther and Altaria, which could become dangerous if not taken care of, and prevent Grass-types like Vileplume from freely switching in.

Maximum HP and Defense EVs with a Bold nature let Omastar take multiple Earthquakes from Kangaskhan lacking Choice Band and use it as setup fodder for Spikes.

Team Options
========

Due to Omastar's lack of reliable recovery, it has to worry about being worn down by Spikes and status, especially poison. Thus, Rapid Spin users like Tentacruel, Blastoise, and Hitmontop are useful teammates. In particular, Tentacruel's resistance to Water, neutrality to Grass-type moves, and immunity to Toxic are very helpful. Moreover, clerics such as Granbull and Vileplume make for great allies. Specifically, Granbull has Intimidate to weaken physical attackers and Thunder Wave to slow down fast Pokemon, and Vileplume has useful resistances to Water, Grass, Electric, and Fighting as well as Sleep Powder to immobilize critical threats. Ghost-types such as Misdreavus and Banette can block Rapid Spin to keep Omastar's Spikes from being removed, making them useful partners. Grass- and Electric-types like Vileplume and Electabuzz are very dangerous to Omastar, so Pokemon that can check them such as Muk, Cradily, and Camerupt are good choices for their defensive synergy. Wish passers such as Hypno and Kangaskhan are very helpful to increase Omastar's longevity, due to its aforementioned lack of reliable recovery. They can also make use of Protect and Toxic to rapidly wear down foes in combination with Omastar's Spikes. Hypno is an especially synergistic teammate due to its resistance to Fighting-type moves and good special bulk. Lastly, strong attackers such as Scyther and Kangaskhan greatly appreciate Spikes support, since it wears down several common checks and counters and makes bulkier threats much easier to take down.

Set Description
=========

Spikes wears down grounded Pokemon when they switch in, limiting foes' opportunities and making bulky Pokemon easier to defeat. Surf is the STAB move of choice due to its higher accuracy and PP over Hydro Pump. Ice Beam takes down Pokemon like Scyther and Altaria as well as Grass-types such as Vileplume, Meganium, and Shiftry. Thief is Omastar's only way of doing anything significant to one of its strongest counters, Tentacruel, taking away its Leftovers and leaving it much more prone to being worn down by Spikes and chip damage. Hidden Power Grass allows Omastar to OHKO opposing Omastar leads and prevents it from being walled by Quagsire.

Maximum HP investment and 12 Defense EVs make Omastar as bulky as possible without sacrificing speed and power. 28 Special Attack EVs with a Modest nature guarantee an OHKO with Hidden Power Grass against opposing Omastar leads, which is a critical matchup to win. 216 Speed EVs let Omastar outspeed uninvested base 80 Speed Pokemon such as Meganium.

Team Options
========

This set is one of the best leads for offensive teams due to its combination of good defenses and high power, which let it win the mirror matchup, prevent it from being passive, and allow it to fire off hard hits to weaken threats for its teammates. Since this set should primarily be used on offensive teams, Pokemon that appreciate Omastar's ability to easily set up Spikes early-game such as Electabuzz, Nidoking, and Scyther are excellent partners, as it turns many 3HKOs into 2HKOs, notably giving Nidoking a chance to win against Walrein after two layers of Spikes. Omastar's team needs Spikes to stay up as long as possible, so Rapid Spin users such as Blastoise, Hitmontop, and especially Tentacruel are very problematic. Electric-types such as Electabuzz and Manectric can threaten Blastoise and Tentacruel for Omastar with their super effective STAB moves; Kangaskhan also makes a very good answer to Tentacruel, since it usually runs Earthquake. Meanwhile, Psychic-types such as Hypno and Lunatone can check Hitmontop, as they can tank Brick Break and Hidden Power Ghost and put it down with Psychic. Spinblockers such as Misdreavus and Banette are also useful partners, but due to their mediocre-at-best bulk, they have to watch out for STAB Hydro Pump from Tentacruel and Hidden Power Ghost from Hitmontop.

move 2: Hydro Pump
move 3: Ice Beam

[SET COMMENTS]
Set Description
=========

Rain Dance activates Swift Swim, letting Omastar outpace the entire unboosted metagame, and makes Hydro Pump an incredibly powerful STAB move that can do good damage even to some Pokemon that resist it. Hydro Pump is preferred over Surf on this set due to its significantly higher power, allowing Omastar to grab many KOs more easily at the cost of lower PP and unreliable accuracy. Ice Beam threatens to KO Flying-types like Fearow, Altaria, and Scyther and Grass-types like Vileplume and Meganium. Hidden Power Grass makes Omastar a more consistent sweeper, preventing it from being defenseless against Quagsire and giving it a better matchup against other Water-types like Blastoise. Although using Spikes over Hidden Power Grass can make Omastar a less effective sweeper, it is still an excellent tool to ease sweeping for Omastar's team and can lull the opponent into a false sense of security about its moveset.

Mystic Water raises the power of Hydro Pump and allows Omastar to OHKO Pokemon like Hypno and Cradily under rain if three layers of Spikes have been set up. Instead of opting for the power of Mystic Water, Omastar can use Leftovers to increase its longevity. Lum Berry prevents Omastar from being crippled by poison, burn, and especially paralysis, which ensures that Omastar always outspeeds the entire metagame under rain.

Maximum Special Attack and Speed investment with a Modest nature is chosen to maximize the power of Omastar's attacks and let it outspeed the entire metagame under rain. Omastar can run as low as 96 Speed EVs to invest into defenses, which would let Omastar survive a Hidden Power Grass from Walrein and still allows it to outspeed Scyther and most Electric-types under rain, although this leaves Omastar more vulnerable outside of rain, since Pokemon like Lunatone will be able to outspeed it and hit it with Psychic or Hypnosis, and also means that it will be unable to outrun Electrode under rain, which can threaten to OHKO it with STAB Thunderbolt.

Team Options
========

Despite Omastar's high damage output under rain, it is walled by bulky Water-types such as Tentacruel, Walrein, and Lanturn, so Electric-types like Electabuzz and Manectric and Grass-types like Vileplume make for good teammates. Vileplume is notable in that it has access to Aromatherapy, which helps offset Omastar's vulnerability to status, particularly Thunder Wave. Baton Passing Calm Mind boosts is very helpful for Omastar, making its already powerful attacks even stronger and helping it tank special attacks; therefore, Hypno and Lunatone can be valuable partners. Hypno notably has good special bulk, resists Fighting-type moves, and has access to Wish to alleviate Omastar's lack of reliable recovery, although Wish and Baton Pass cannot be used together. Choice Band Nidoking and other Ground-types with Choice Band also make for good teammates, since the bulky Water-types that can stop Omastar from sweeping will be significantly weakened if they are forced to take a Choice Band-boosted Earthquake. These Ground-types can also serve as pivots for Electric-type attacks aimed at Omastar.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Hidden Power Electric may 3HKO Tentacruel depending on the set Omastar is running and lets it deter Tentacruel without having to worry about Hydro Pump's unreliable accuracy. However, using Hidden Power Electric over Hidden Power Grass leaves Omastar vulnerable to Lanturn and Quagsire. RestTalk improves Omastar's longevity and also prevents it from being worn down by status, but it makes Omastar more passive and leaves it setup fodder for Pokemon like Slowking.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Rapid Spin Users**: Rapid Spin users such as Tentacruel, Blastoise, and Hitmontop are able to remove Spikes from their side of the field and deal with Omastar in their own ways. Tentacruel is a fantastic counter to Omastar in general, since it has great special bulk, resists both Water-type STAB move options and Ice Beam, is neutral to Hidden Power Grass, is immune to Toxic, and can 2HKO Omastar with Hydro Pump or OHKO it with Giga Drain. While Hitmontop is the least effective of the Rapid Spin users and does not resist Omastar's attacks, it can inflict poison to Omastar with Toxic and wear it down with Brick Break.

**Bulky Water-types**: Bulky Water-types like Walrein, Lanturn, and Slowking are 3HKOed at best by Hidden Power Grass and are able to take down Omastar with their STAB moves or through other methods. Walrein can 3HKO it with Surf or inflict it with Toxic. Lanturn can paralyze Omastar with Thunder Wave and has a STAB in Thunderbolt to OHKO Omastar. Slowking can easily tank a Hidden Power Grass before a Calm Mind boost, use Omastar as setup fodder, and OHKO it at +2. If Omastar does not have Hidden Power Grass, Quagsire, although fairly uncommon, can completely wall it and threaten to 3HKO it with Earthquake.

**Grass-types**: Due to Omastar's 4x weakness to Grass, Grass-types such as Vileplume and Meganium pose a massive threat to it; the former also threatens to immobilize Omastar with Sleep Powder. However, these Pokemon are weak to Ice Beam, so they aren't always reliable answers.

**Electric-types**: Electric-types such as Electabuzz, Manectric, and Electrode are all very fast and threaten to OHKO Omastar with their super effective STAB moves, which make them huge problems. However, these Pokemon are all frail and would never want to take a STAB Hydro Pump from Rain Dance Omastar.

**Status Ailments**: Poison and burn will instantly negate Leftovers recovery and quickly wear down Omastar due to its lack of reliable recovery. Rain Dance Omastar strongly detests being paralyzed, since that means that even under rain it will fail to outspeed many threats, most notably Electric-types like Electabuzz.

**Special Walls**: While special walls such as Hypno and Kangaskhan still take a large chunk of damage from a rain- and STAB-boosted Hydro Pump, they are still able to stall out Rain Dance turns and Hydro Pump PP with Wish and Protect. Hypno and Kangaskhan don't fear anything from offensive and defensive Spikes sets apart from Thief and Toxic, and they can inflict Omastar with Toxic of their own to take it down. However, they do not do much to prevent Spikes from being set up.

HP Grass should 100% be mentioned on Spikes. It's gained in popularity a lot vs. Toxic / Protect / Spikes because it annoys opposing Omastars more than Toxic. Actually, it should be mentioned over Ice Beam because you never see Ice Beam on Spikes Oma.

You should also mention that the main point of HP Grass is to hit opposing Omastar, not Quagsire which is very rarely seen.

I agree that HP Grass should be on most lead Omas, but I also find HP Grass to be specifically helpful on offensive Spikes sets but less essential on physically defensive, especially if you're running spin on your team. You need a fair bit of SpA investment to guarantee the OHKO on opposing Oma (either 136 EVs with a neutral nature or Modest with 28 EVs), and you almost certainly want Speed as well, so generally when I run HP Grass it's on a bulky attacking Spikes + 3 attacks set. I often creep into the base 70 range, which in addition to helping with Oma mirrors and all the bulky 'mons that crowd around the base 65 range also covers defensive Hitmontop.

I also think Ice Beam is absolutely required on this set and still deserves a slash on the physically defensive set even if it has fallen out of favor as compared to Tox+Protect; Scyther and Altaria are both incredibly dangerous otherwise, and not giving free switches to Plume is very nice. But really it's all about BP Scyther (which can run bulk to always avoid the Surf 2HKO) and to a lesser extent Alt, because those can get super dangerous fast.

Spikes is worth a slash over HP Grass on the RD set (less reliable as a sweeper but spikes are just that good in Adv, and rain boosted Mystic Hydro is stronger vs anything not named Quag anyhow), and while I love Mystic Water and that's usually my item of choice, Lefties has decent merit too. Also, it shouldn't be the main spread, but it's worth mentioning that you can go bulkier on RD Oma and can go as low as 96 Speed (which hits 170, enough to beat Scyther and the electrics under rain).

I honestly see three sets: physically defensive Spikes, offensive Spikes (the set I consider best as a lead) and Rain Dance, with RestTalk in OO.

EDIT: on mobile but to expand, I think these are the three main Oma sets:

[OVERVIEW]

Omastar is widely regarded to be one of the best Pokemon in the tier due to its excellent defensive and offensive qualities. Omastar's access to Spikes is incredibly important for virtually every playstyle, and it finds itself to be the most splashable Spikes setter due to it's great Defense and a decent defensive typing in Water / Rock that gives it useful resistances to Flying- and especially Normal-type moves, letting it be a solid check to powerful Pokemon like Scyther, Fearow, and Kangaskhan; these traits also lead Omastar to be one of the best leads in the metagame. Additionally, Omastar's sky high Special Attack and Swift Swim can turn it into an extremely deadly rain sweeper that can completely decimate teams once it's checks have been taken down.

In addition to its high SpA making it a good rain sweeper, I'd mention that it keeps it from being passive in general, threatening many of the things it checks with a strong STAB Surf.

However, while Water / Rock does provide some handy resistances, it also gives Omastar very common weaknesses to Grass-, Electric-, Ground-, and Fighting-type moves, making it more difficult to consistently check things like Choice Band Granbull and Kangaskhan and also means Omastar is generally not a very effective check to Fire-types like Ninetales since they often run grass coverage. Omastar also suffers from poor special bulk, meaning strong neutral or super effective attacks will often at least severely cripple Omastar or even outright remove it. Omastar's lack of recovery and vulnerability to status don't help it either, since its only way of recovering health in leftovers can be instantly negated by Toxic or Burn; the rain sweeper set in particular detests being paralyzed since it means that even under rain it will fail to outspeed many Pokemon. Omastar is also extremely slow, so often must take a hit before it can do anything, although Swift Swim negates this problem. Despite its flaws however, Omastar is an incredibly powerful defensive and offensive threat, and should at least be considered for nearly every team.

Surf is Omastar's STAB move that lets it take down Fire, Ground, and Rock types like Ninetales, Lunatone, and Gligar. Toxic cripples and wears down most Pokemon that try to switch into it, which can give it more opportunities to set Spikes, Toxic also pairs fairly well with Spikes. Protect gives Omastar a free turn of Leftovers recovery and can allow it to scout for super effective attacks. Hidden Power Grass threatens to possibly OHKO opposing Omastar while also hitting other Water-types like Blastoise, Lanturn, and Quagsire. Ice Beam takes down Scyther and Altaria, who could possibly become dangerous if not taken care of, and also prevents Grass-types like Vileplume from freely switching in.

Maximum HP and Defense EVs with a Bold nature maximizes Omastar's physical bulk and let's it take multiple of Kangaskhan's Earthquakes, allowing it to potentially use Kangaskhan as setup fodder for Spikes as long as it doesnt have Choice band.

Team Options
========

Due to Omastar's lack of reliable recovery, it too has to worry about being worn down by Spikes, thus, Rapid Spin users like Tentacruel, Blastoise, and Hitmontop can be very important teammates. In particular, Tentacruel's resistance to Water and neutrality to Grass-type moves and immunity to toxic are very important. Hitmontop is also notable since, while it doesn't have many special resistances, it still has decent special bulk, access to Intimidate, and lacks a weakness to Grass- and Electric-type moves. Of course, being a Spikes setter, Omastar does not want it's own Spikes to be removed, so Ghost-types such as Misdreavus and Banette can block Rapid Spin for it, making them useful partners. Banette also has Will-o-Wisp to weaken Physical attackers and wear them down even further with burn and Knock Off to remove Choice Band and Leftovers, which pairs very well with Will-o-Wisp. Grass- and Electric-types like Vileplume and Electabuzz are very dangerous to Omastar due to it's weakness to the types and poor special bulk, so Pokemon that can check them such as Muk, Cradily, and Camerupt are mandatory members of it's team. Since Omastar's lack of recovery leaves it vulnerable to status, especially Toxic, Clerics such as Granbull and Vileplume make for great allies. Specifically, Granbull has Intimidate to weaken physical attackers and has Thunder Wave to slow down fast Pokemon, and Vileplume has useful resistances to Water, Grass, Electric, and Fighting as well as Sleep Powder to immobilize critical threats. Wish passers such as Hypno and Kangaskhan are very helpful as well due to Omastar's aforementioned lack of recovery, increasing it's longevity, Hypno is an especially powerful teammate due to it's resistance to Fighting-type moves and good special bulk, and also has Reflect to make physical attackers less of a nuisance. Lastly, attackers such as Scyther and Kangaskhan, as well as the rest of the Pokemon mentioned all greatly appreciate Spikes support since it wears down several common checks and counters and makes bulkier threats much easier to take out.

I feel like this team options section is a bit unwieldy; you've basically listed three quarters of the decent 'mons in Adv UU as good team options. While that's not strictly wrong (Omastar pairs really well with almost everything), I'd trim this down a bit.

Spikes wear down grounded Pokemon when they switch in, limiting the opponent's switch-in opportunities and making bulky Pokemon easier to defeat. Surf is the STAB move of choice due to it's higher accuracy and PP over Hydro Pump. Ice Beam takes down Pokemon like Scyther and Altaria and also prevents Grass-types such as Vileplume and Meganium from switching in freely. Thief is Omastar's only way of doing anything significant to one of its strongest counters, Tentacruel, since it takes away its leftovers, which can leave Tentacruel much more prone to being worn down by Spikes and chip damage. Hidden Power Grass allows Omastar to OHKO opposing Omastar leads and prevents it from being walled by Quagsire.

Maximum HP investment and 12 Defense makes Omastar as bulky as possible without sacrificing speed or the ability to always OHKO Omastar leads with Hidden Power Grass. 28 Special attack EVs with a Modest nature guarantees an OHKO against opposing Omastar leads with Hidden Power Grass, which is a critical matchup to win. 216 Speed EVs lets Omastar outspeed unboosted base 70 speed Pokemon such as defensive Hitmontop.

Team Options
========
Omastar always wants Spikes to be set up against the enemy, so spin blockers such as Misdreavus and Banette are valuable teammates. Banette's access to Will-o-Wisp to weaken and wear down physical attackers and knock off to remove Choice Band and Leftovers to make them easier to take on and wear down with status and Spikes is even more helpful on this set due to it's lower bulk. This set's higher emphasis on Speed makes Omastar more vulnerable to Thunder Wave, and it also dislikes toxic, so clerics like Granbull and Vileplume are useful partners. In particular, Vileplume's resistance to Water-, Grass-, Electric-, and Fighting-type moves are very helpful. Because Omastar lacks recovery, Wish users such as Hypno and Kangaskhan make for good teammates, Hypno being notable due to it's resistance to Fighting-type moves, good Special Defense, and access to Reflect. Rain Dance users such as Gorebyss can benefit Omastar by doubling it's speed and strengthening Surf,which can let it have an easier time setting Spikes. Pokemon that can deal with Grass- and Electric-types such as Muk, Cradily, and Camerupt are important teammates since Omastar is very weak to both typings.

See my previous comments. This also feels like it's just a generic rehashing of the previous entry's team options section (including a large amount of copypasta). Instead, I'd emphasize that this set is one of the best leads, and focus on Pokemon that benefit from setting Spikes early in the game and luring opposing Omastar. That should differentiate its team options a bit from the defensive set.

Set Description

Rain Dance doubles Omastar's speed, letting it outpace the entire unboosted metagame, and also boosts the power of Hydro Pump by 1.5 times which, combined with Mystic Water, makes Hydro Pump an incredibly powerful STAB move that can do good damage to even some Water-resistant Pokemon. Hydro Pump is preferred over Surf on this set due to it's significantly higher power, allowing it to grab many KOs easier, although the low PP and unreliable accuracy can cause problems. Ice Beam threatens to KO Flying types like Fearow, Altaria, and Scyther and also beats Grass-types like Vileplume and Meganium. Hidden Power Grass makes Omastar a more consistent sweeper since it prevents it from being defenseless against Quagsire, and also gives it a better matchup against water types like Blastoise. Although using Spikes over Hidden Power Grass can make Omastar a less effective sweeper since it will have a harder time taking down Pokemon like Quagsire, Spikes are still an excellent tool and it can make sweeping for both it and its teammates much easier.

Maximum Special Attack and Speed investment with a Modest nature is chosen to maximize the power of Omastar's attacks and let it outspeed the entire metagame under rain. Omastar can go as low as 96 speed to invest into Defenses, which still allows it to outspeed Scyther and most Electric-types under rain, although this means that it will be unable to outrun Electrode, which can paralyze Omastar or threaten to OHKO it with STAB Thunderbolt.

I'd go into detail on the item choice. Mention that Mystic Water can allow you to OHKO threats like Hypno and Cradily if Spikes are down, but also that Leftovers or Lum Berry are options. Also why would Electrode paralyze Omastar instead of just attacking it? I'd take out that bit.

Team Options
========

Despite Omastar's high damage output under rain, it is still walled by bulky Water-types such as Tentacruel, Walrein, and Lanturn, so Electric-types like Electabuzz and Manectric and Grass-types like Vileplume make for good teammates, Vileplume is notable in that it has access to Aromatherapy, which can cure Omastar and its team of status, which is important due to Omastar's vulnerability to status, particularly Thunder Wave. Calm Mind passing is very helpful for Omastar since it makes its already powerful attacks even stronger and softens special attacks; therefore, Hypno and Lunatone can be valuable partners, Hypno is notable in that it has good special bulk and resists Fighting-type moves. Hypno also has access to Wish to alleviate Omastar's lack of recovery, although Wish and Baton Pass cannot be used together.

Hidden Power Electric may 3HKO Tentacruel depending on the set Omastar is running, which lets it deter Tentacruel without having to worry about Hydro Pump's unreliable accuracy. However, using Hidden Power Electric over Hidden Power Grass leaves Omastar Vulnerable to Lanturn and Quagsire.

I'd mention RestTalk as an OO as well, which can give Omastar some more longevity and keep it from getting worn down by status, but which leaves it passive and vulnerable to setup.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Rapid Spin Users**: Rapid Spin users such as Tentacruel, Blastoise, and Hitmontop are able to remove Spikes from their side of the field and deal with Omastar in their own ways. Tentacruel is a fantastic counter to Omastar in general, since it has great special bulk, resists both Water-STAB and Ice Beam and is neutral to Hidden Power Grass, is immune to toxic, and it can 2HKO Omastar with Hydro Pump or threaten OHKO it with Giga Drain. While Hitmontop is the least effective of the Rapid Spin Users and does not resist Omastar's attacks, it can inflict Omastar with toxic and wear it down with Brick Break.

**Bulky Water-types**: Bulky Water-types like Walrein, Lanturn, and Slowking are 3HKOed at best by Hidden Power Grass and are able to take down Omastar with their STAB moves or by other methods. Walrein can use Encore to lock Omastar into a move like Rain Dance or Spikes and 3HKO it with Surf, Inflict Toxic, or bring in a teammate to take advantage of Omastar's vulnerability. Lanturn can paralyze Omastar with Thunder Wave and has a STAB in Thunderbolt to OHKO Omastar. Slowking can easily tank a Hidden Power Grass before a Calm Mind boost and can use Omastar as setup fodder for Calm Mind, usually being able to OHKO Omastar at +2. If Omastar does not have Hidden Power Grass, Quagsire can completely wall Omastar and threaten to 3HKO it with Earthquake, although Quagsire is fairly uncommon.

**Grass-types**: Due to Omastar's 4x weakness to Grass, Grass-types such as Vileplume and Meganium pose a massive threat to Omastar. Vileplume also has Sleep Powder to immobilize Omastar, which is very dangerous. However, these Pokemon are weak to Ice Beam, so they aren't always reliable answers.

**Electric-types**: Electric-types such as Electabuzz, Manectric, and Electrode are all very fast and threaten to OHKO Omastar with their super effective STAB moves, which makes them huge problems. Electrode is notable in that it often runs Thunder Wave, making Omastar too slow to outspeed most of the metagame even under rain. However, these Pokemon are all frail and would never want to take a STAB Hydro Pump from Rain Dance Omastar.

**Status**: toxic, poison, and burn will instantly negate leftovers and quickly wear down Omastar due to its lack of reliable recovery. Rain Dance strongly detests being paralyzed since that means that even under rain it will fail to outspeed many threats, most notably Electric-types like Electabuzz.

**Special Walls**: while Special Walls such as Hypno and Kangaskhan still take a large chunk of damage from a rain-boosted STAB Hydro Pump, they are still able to stall out both Rain Dance turns and Hydro Pump PP with Wish and Protect. Hypno and Kangaskhan don't fear anything from Offensive and Defensive Spikes sets apart from Thief and toxic and can inflict Omastar with toxic to take it down. However, they do not do much to prevent Spikes from being set up.

Omastar's access to Spikes is incredibly important for virtually every playstyle, and it finds itself to be the most splashable Spikes setter due to it's great Defense and a decent defensive typing in Water / Rock that, (AC) which gives it useful resistances to Flying- and especially Normal-type moves,; (SC to prevent run-on) this lettings it be a solid check to powerful Pokemon like Scyther, Fearow, and Kangaskhan; t. (full stop) These traits also lead (lol; word change recommended tho; help, aid, etc) Omastar to be one of the best leads in the metagame. Additionally, Omastar's sky-high Special Attack prevents it from being completely passive owhen running (clears confusion on who's running def) defensive sets, Tthreatening most of the things (use some other word like "threats" or simply "Pokemon") it checks with a strong, STAB-boosted Surf; this high Special Attack when paired with Swift Swim, this (less rep) also allows Omastar to become an extremely deadly rain sweeper that can completely decimate teams once it's (RA) checks have been taken down. However, while Water / Rock does provide some handy resistances, it also gives Omastar very common weaknesses to Grass-, Electric-, Ground-, and Fighting-type moves, making it more difficult for it to consistently check things (same as prev note) like Choice Band Granbull and Kangaskhan and. (full stop or SC + keep lowercase) This also means Omastar is generally not a very effective check to Fire-types like Ninetales, (AC) since they often run gGrass-type coverage. Omastar also suffers from poor special bulk, meaning strong neutral or super effective special attacks will often at least severely cripple Omastar or even outright removeKO it. Omastar's lack of reliable recovery and vulnerability to status don't help it either, since its only way of recovering health in l(this is implied in "lack of recovery") Leftovers can be instantly be negated by Toxicpoison or Bburn; twhen rain sweeperunning offensive sets (i'm not sure we can reference specific sets this early), in particular (omastar, not set)detests being paralyzed, (AC) since it means that even under rain, (AC) it will fail to outspeed many Pokemon. Omastar is also extremely slow , so often must take a hit before it can do anything, although without Swift Swim, so it often takes a hit before it can do anything. negates this problem. Despite its flaws however, Omastar is an incredibly powerful defensive and offensive threat, and should at least be considered for nearly every team. (no fluff to end overview)

Spikes is an incredibly powerful support tool, (AC) since it wears down grounded fopponents every time they switch in, limiting their switch-in(less rep) opportunities while also making it easier for Omastar's teammates to take down bulkier threats. Surf is Omastar'its STAB move that lets it take down Fire- (AH), Ground- (AH), and Rock-types (AH) like Ninetales, Lunatone, and Gligar (swap examples to parallel previous phrase or vice-versa). Toxic cripples and wears down (word change recommended to lessen rep; stacks offensive pressure is what I'm thinking of) most Pokemon that try to switch into itOmastar, which can gives it more opportunities to set Spikes, Toxic also pairs fairly well with Spikes (this is probs bullet form residue). Protect gives Omastar a free turn of free Leftovers recovery and can allows it to scout for super effective attacks. Hidden Power Grass threatens to possibly("threaten" implies possibility) OHKO opposing Omastar while also hitting other Water-types like Blastoise, Lanturn, and Quagsire. Ice Beam takes down Scyther and Altaria, whoich could possibly become dangerous if not taken care of, and also prevents Grass-types like Vileplume from freely switching in.

Due to Omastar's lack of reliable recovery, it too has to worry about being worn down by Spikes and status, tespecially poison. (C -> P) Thus, Rapid Spin users like Tentacruel, Blastoise, and Hitmontop can bare very important teammates. In particular, Tentacruel's resistance to Water and, (AC) neutrality to Grass-type moves, AC) and immunity to tToxic are very important (word change recommended to avoid word rep; helpful, useful, essential, etc). Grass- and Electric-types like Vileplume and Electabuzz are very dangerous to Omastar due to it's weakness to the types and poor special bulkm (you're not really mentioning something about them being only special), so Pokemon that can check them such as Muk, Cradily, and Camerupt are mandatory members of it's team. Wish passers such as Hypno and Kangaskhan are very helpful as well due to Omastar's aforementioned lack of reliable recovery, increasing it's longevity,; (C -> SC) Hypno is an especially powerful teammate due to it's resistance to Fighting-type moves and good special bulk, and it also has Reflect to make physical attackers less of a nuisance. Lastly, strong attackers (bec almost everyone attacks) such as Scyther and Kangaskhan, as well as the aforest of thementioned Pokemon mentioned, (AC) all greatly appreciate Spikes support, (AC) since it wears down several common checks and counters and makes bulkier threats much easier to take outdown.

Spikes wears (this is technically correct since spikes can refer to layers, but let's keep things consistent) down grounded Pokemon when they switch in, limiting the opponent's switch-infoes' opportunities and making bulky Pokemon easier to defeat. Surf is the STAB move of choice due to it's higher accuracy and PP over Hydro Pump. Ice Beam takes down Pokemon like Scyther and Altaria and also prevents Grass-types such as Vileplume and Meganium from switching in freely (deja vu; this sentence untouched since it's too similar to prev :/). Thief is Omastar's only way of doing anything significant to one of its strongest counters, Tentacruel, since it takesing away its lLeftovers, which cand leave Tentacrueling it much more prone to being worn down by Spikes and chip damage. Hidden Power Grass allows Omastar to OHKO opposing Omastar leads and prevents it from being walled by Quagsire.

Maximum HP investment and 12 Defense makes Omastar as bulky as possible without sacrificing speed or the ability to always OHKO Omastar leads with Hidden Pand power Grass. 28 Special aAttack EVs with a Modest nature guarantees an OHKO with Hidden Power Grass (so the which attribution is clearer) against opposing Omastar leads with Hidden Power Grass, which is a critical matchup to win. 216 Speed EVs lets Omastar outspeed unboosted base 70 sSpeed Pokemon such as defensive Hitmontop (this portion feels weird to me; by unboosted, you probs mean uninvested since max speed b70 mons outspeed. This set is one of the best leads for offensive teams due to it's combination of good defenses and high power, which lets it Omastar beat opposing Omastar leads andthe mirror matchup, (AC) prevents it from being passive, and allow it to fire off strong hits to weaken threats for its teammates. Since this set should primarily be used on offensive teams, Pokemon that appreciate Omastar's ability to easily set up Spikes forduring the early-game such as Electabuzz, Nidoking, and Scyther are excellent partners, as spikesit turns many 3HKOs into 2HKOs, notably lettgiving Nidoking possiblya chance to win against Walrein after 2 layers of sSpikes. Omastar's team needs Spikes (not only Omastar :/) to stay up as long as it can, makingpossible, so Rapid Spin users such as Blastoise, Hitmontop, and Eespecially Tentacruel are very problematic, so. (let's full stop here) Electric types such as Electabuzz and Manectric can handle Blastoise and Tentacruel for Omastar with their super effective STAB moves,; (SC) Kangaskhan also makes a very good answer to Tentacruel, (AC) since it always runs Earthquake; as for Hitmontop,. (full stop)Meanwhile, (AC) Psychic-types such as Hypno and Lunatone can check Hitmontop, as they can tank Brick Break and Hidden Power Ghost and put it down with Psychic. Spinblockers such as Misdreavus and Banette are also useful partners, but due to their bulk being mediocre at -at-best bulk, they have to watch out for STAB Hydro Pump from Tentacruel and Hidden Power Ghost from Hitmontop. Rain Dance doubles Omastar's speedactivates Swift Swim (technicality), letting itOmastar outpace the entire unboosted metagame, and also boosts the power of Hydro Pump by 1.5 times which, combined with Mystic Water, makes Hydro Pump(this can be omitted since it's mentioned later) an incredibly powerful STAB move that can do good damage to even to some Water-resistant Pokemon. Hydro Pump is preferred over Surf on this set due to it's significantly higher power, allowing itOmastar to grab many KOs easier, (RC) although the cost of lower PP and unreliable accuracy can cause problems. Ice Beam threatens to KO Flying-types (AH) like Fearow, Altaria, and Scyther and also beats(essentially the same, so just merge) Grass-types like Vileplume and Meganium. Hidden Power Grass makes Omastar a more consistent sweeper since it, preventsing (allows for more consistent pronoun use + less rep) it from being defenseless against Quagsire, (RC) and also givesing it a better matchup against wWater-types (AH) like Blastoise. Although using Spikes over Hidden Power Grass can make Omastar a less effective sweeper since it will have a harder time taking down Pokemon like Quagsire, Spikes are, (AC + removal bec that is already explained b4) it is (made this singular for consistency, tho plural is also technically right) still an excellent tool and it can makto ease sweeping for both it and its teammates much easierOmastar's team.

Mystic Water raises the power of Hydro Pump and allows itOmastar to OHKO Pokemon like Hypno and Cradily under rain if Spikes have (leaving this as-is) been set up. Leftovers increases Omastar's longevity at the cost of making Hydro Pump slightly weaker (technically, it doesn't so you can rephrase to "instead of opting for power"). Lum Berry prevents Omastar from being crippled by Ppoison, Bburn, and Paralysis, with the last one being especially usefulparalysis, (AC) since it ensures that Omastar always outspeeds the entire metagame under rain.

Maximum Special Attack and Speed investment with a Modest nature is chosen to maximize the power of Omastar's attacks and let it outspeed the entire metagame under rain. Omastar can gorun as low as 96 sSpeed EVs to invest into Ddefenses, which still allows it to outspeed Scyther and most Electric-types under rain, although this means that it will be unable to outrun Electrode, which can threaten to OHKO Omastar with STAB Thunderbolt.

Team Options
========

Despite Omastar's high damage output under rain, it is still walled by bulky Water-types such as Tentacruel, Walrein, and Lanturn, so Electric-types like Electabuzz and Manectric and Grass-types like Vileplume make for good teammates,. (full stop) Vileplume is notable in that it has access to Aromatherapy, which can cure Omastar and its team of status, which is important due to Omastar's vulnerability to status, particularly Thunder Wave. Calm Mind pPassing (Baton Pass?) is very helpful for Omastar since it, (AC) makesing (makes "it" more consistent) its already powerful attacks even stronger and softenshelping it tank special attacks; therefore, Hypno and Lunatone can be valuable partners,. (full stop) Hypno is notable in that ity (less rep) has good special bulk and, (AC) resists Fighting-type moves. Hypno also, and has access to Wish to alleviate Omastar's lack of reliable recovery, although Wish and Baton Pass cannot be used together.

Hidden Power Electric may 3HKO Tentacruel depending on the set Omastar is running, which and lets it deter Tentacruel without having to worry about Hydro Pump's unreliable accuracy. However, using Hidden Power Electric over Hidden Power Grass leaves Omastar Vit vulnerable to Lanturn and Quagsire. RestTalk improves Omastar's longevity and also prevents it from being worn down by status, but it makes Omastar more passive and leaves it setup fodder for Pokemon like Slowking.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Rapid Spin Users**: Rapid Spin users such as Tentacruel, Blastoise, and Hitmontop are able to remove Spikes from their side of the field and deal with Omastar in their own ways. Tentacruel is a fantastic counter to Omastar in general, since it has great special bulk, resists both Water-type STAB move options and Ice Beam and, (AC) is neutral to Hidden Power Grass, is immune to tToxic, and it(paral) can 2HKO Omastar with Hydro Pump or threaten OHKO it with Giga Drain. While Hitmontop is the least effective of the Rapid Spin Uusers and does not resist Omastar's attacks, it can inflict poison to Omastar with tToxic and wear it down with Brick Break.

**Bulky Water-types**: Bulky Water-types like Walrein, Lanturn, and Slowking are 3HKOed at best by Hidden Power Grass and are able to take down Omastar with their STAB moves or bythrough other methods. Walrein can use Encore to lock Omastar into a non-attacking move like Rain Dance or Spikes and 3HKO it with Surf, Iinflict Toxic, or bring in a teammate to take advantage of Omastar's vulnerability. Lanturn can paralyze Omastar with Thunder Wave and has a STAB in Thunderbolt to OHKO Omastar. Slowking can easily tank a Hidden Power Grass before a Calm Mind boost and can, (AC) use Omastar as setup fodder for Calm Mind, usually being able toand OHKO Omastar at +2. If Omastar does not have Hidden Power Grass, Quagsire, (AC) although fairly uncommon, (AC) can completely wall Omastar and threaten to 3HKO it with Earthquake, although Quagsire is fairly uncommon.

**Grass-types**: Due to Omastar's 4x weakness to Grass, Grass-types such as Vileplume and Meganium pose a massive threat to Omastar. Vileplu; (AC) the former also has Sleep Powderthreatens to immobilize Omastar, which is very dangerousith Sleep Powder (the prev version attributed danger to Omastar). However, these Pokemon are weak to Ice Beam, so they aren't always reliable answers (can you say this in checks and counters?).

**Electric-types**: Electric-types such as Electabuzz, Manectric, and Electrode are all very fast and threaten to OHKO Omastar with their super effective STAB moves, which makes them huge problems. Electrode is notable in that it often runs Thunder Wave, which makinges (nitpick, but it "running" TWave does not slow down Oma) Omastar too slow to outspeed most of the metagame even under rain. However, these Pokemon are all frail and would never want to take a STAB Hydro Pump from Rain Dance Omastar.

**Status Ailments**: toxicBad poison, poison (or just use either one), and burn will instantly negate lLeftovers and quickly wear down Omastar due to its lack of reliable recovery. Rain Dance sweeper Omastar strongly detests being paralyzed, (AC) since that means that even under rain, (AC) it will fail to outspeed many threats, most notably Electric-types like Electabuzz.

**Special Walls**: wWhile Sspecial Wwalls such as Hypno and Kangaskhan still take a large chunk of damage from a rain- and STAB-boosted STAB Hydro Pump, they are still able to stall out both Rain Dance turns and Hydro Pump PP with Wish and Protect. Hypno and Kangaskhan don't fear anything from Ooffensive and Ddefensive Spikes sets apart from Thief and tToxic, (AC) and they (this pair of changes are subj; opt) can inflict Omastar with tToxic of their own to take it down. However, they do not do much to prevent Spikes from being set up.

I finally implemented ur entire AMGP check, it took me so long bc it was really intimidating but I got it done anyway. thank you

[OVERVIEW]
Omastar is widely regarded as one of the best Pokemon in the tier due to its excellent defensive and offensive qualities. Omastar's access to Spikes is incredibly important for virtually every playstyle, and it finds itself to be the most splashable easiest Spikes setter to fit on teams due to it's its great Defense and a decent defensive typing in Water / Rock, which gives it useful resistances to Flying- and especially Normal-type moves; this lets these traits also make it be a solid check to powerful Pokemon like Scyther, Fearow, and Kangaskhan. these traits also aid Omastar to be as well as one of the best leads in the metagame. Additionally, Omastar's sky-high Special Attack prevents it from being completely passive when running defensive sets, threatening most of the Pokemon it checks with a strong, STAB-boosted Surf, (comma) and when paired with Swift Swim, this also allows Omastar it to become an extremely deadly rain sweeper when paired with Swift Swim that can completely decimate teams once its checks have been taken down. However, while Water / Rock does provide some handy resistances, it also gives Omastar very common weaknesses to Grass-, Electric-, Ground-, and Fighting-type moves, making it more difficult for it to consistently check Pokemon like Choice Band Granbull and Kangaskhan. this also means Omastar is generally not a very effective and lessening its effectiveness as a check to Fire-types like Ninetales, since they often run Grass-type coverage. Omastar also suffers from poor special bulk, meaning strong neutral or super effective special attacks will often severely cripple or outright KO it. Omastar's lack of reliable recovery and vulnerability to status don't help it either, since Leftovers can instantly be negated by poison or burn (RSC) and when running offensive sets, it detests detest being paralyzed, since it means that even under rain, it they will fail to outspeed many Pokemon.

STAB Surf is it's STAB move that lets it Omastar take down Fire-, Ground-, and Rock-types like Ninetales, Gligar, and Lunatone. Toxic cripples and stacks offensive pressure on most Pokemon that try to switch into Omastar, which gives it more opportunities to set Spikes. Protect gives Omastar a turn of free Leftovers recovery and allows it to scout for super effective attacks. Hidden Power Grass is an option to threatens to OHKO opposing Omastar while also hitting other Water-types like Blastoise, Lanturn, and Quagsire, (comma) while Ice Beam takes down Scyther and Altaria, which could possibly become dangerous if not taken care of, and also prevents Grass-types like Vileplume from freely switching in.

Maximum HP and Defense EVs with a Bold nature let Omastar take multiple Earthquakes from Kangaskhan lacking Choice Band and use it as setup fodder for Spikes.

Team Options
========

Due to Omastar's lack of reliable recovery, it too has to worry about being worn down by Spikes and status, especially poison. Thus, Rapid Spin users like Tentacruel, Blastoise, and Hitmontop are very important teammates. Grass- and Electric-types like Vileplume and Electabuzz are very dangerous to Omastar due to it's its weakness to them, so Pokemon that can check them such as Muk, Cradily, and Camerupt are mandatory members of it's its team. Wish passers such as Hypno and Kangaskhan are very helpful as well due to Omastar's aforementioned lack of reliable recovery, increasing its longevity; Hypno is an especially powerful teammate due to its resistance to Fighting-type moves and good special bulk, and it also has Reflect to make physical attackers less of a nuisance. Lastly, strong attackers such as Scyther and Kangaskhan, as well as the aforementioned Pokemon, (can't tell which, just repeat them) all greatly appreciate Spikes support, since it wears down several common checks and counters and makes bulkier threats much easier to take down.

Spikes wears down grounded Pokemon when they switch in, limiting the foes' opportunities and making bulky Pokemon easier to defeat. Surf is the STAB move of choice due to it's its higher accuracy and PP over Hydro Pump. Ice Beam takes down Pokemon like Scyther and Altaria as well as Grass-types such as Vileplume, Meganium, and Shiftry. Thief is Omastar's only way of doing anything significant to one of its strongest counters, Tentacruel,(space)taking away its Leftovers (RC) and leaving it much more prone to being worn down by Spikes and chip damage.

========

This set is one of the best leads for offensive teams due to it's its combination of good defenses and high power, which let Omastar beat it win the mirror matchup, prevent it from being passive, and allow it to fire off strong hard hits to weaken threats for its teammates. Since this set should primarily be used on offensive teams, Pokemon that appreciate Omastar's ability to easily set up Spikes during the early-game such as Electabuzz, Nidoking, and Scyther are excellent partners, as it turns many 3HKOs into 2HKOs, notably giving Nidoking a chance to win against Walrein after two layers of Spikes. Omastar's team needs Spikes to stay up as long as possible, so Rapid Spin users such as Blastoise, Hitmontop, and especially Tentacruel are very problematic. Electric-types (AH) such as Electabuzz and Manectric can handle Blastoise and Tentacruel for Omastar with their super effective STAB moves; Kangaskhan also makes a very good answer to Tentacruel, since it always runs Earthquake.

Set Description

Rain Dance activates Swift Swim, letting Omastar outpace the entire unboosted metagame, and also makes Hydro Pump an incredibly powerful STAB move that can do good damage even to some Water-resistant Pokemon that resist it. Hydro Pump is preferred over Surf on this set due to its significantly higher power, allowing Omastar to grab many KOs easier more easily at the cost of lower PP and unreliable accuracy. Ice Beam threatens to KO Flying-types like Fearow, Altaria, and Scyther and Grass-types like Vileplume and Meganium. Hidden Power Grass makes Omastar a more consistent sweeper, (AC) preventing it from being defenseless against Quagsire and also giving it a better matchup against other Water-types like Blastoise. Although using Spikes over Hidden Power Grass can make Omastar a less effective sweeper, it is still an excellent tool to ease sweeping for Omastar's team.

Mystic Water raises the power of Hydro Pump and allows Omastar to OHKO Pokemon like Hypno and Cradily under rain if Spikes have been set up. Instead of opting for the power of Mystic Water, Omastar can use Leftovers to increase its longevity. Lum Berry prevents Omastar from being crippled by poison, burn, and especially paralysis, since it ensures that Omastar always outspeeds the entire metagame under rain.

Maximum Special Attack and Speed investment with a Modest nature is chosen to maximize the power of Omastar's attacks and let it outspeed the entire metagame under rain. Omastar can run as low as 96 Speed EVs to invest into defenses, which still allows it to outspeed Scyther and most Electric-types under rain, although this means that it will be unable to outrun Electrode, which can threaten to OHKO Omastar it with STAB Thunderbolt.

Team Options
========

Despite Omastar's high damage output under rain, it is still walled by bulky Water-types such as Tentacruel, Walrein, and Lanturn, so Electric-types like Electabuzz and Manectric and Grass-types like Vileplume make for good teammates. Vileplume is notable in that it has access to Aromatherapy, which is important due to helps offset (optional but less filler sounding) Omastar's vulnerability to status, particularly Thunder Wave. Baton Passing Calm Mind Passing boosts is very helpful for Omastar, making its already powerful attacks even stronger and helping it tank special attacks; therefore, Hypno and Lunatone can be valuable partners. Hypno notably has good special bulk, resists Fighting-type moves, and has access to Wish to alleviate Omastar's lack of reliable recovery, although Wish and Baton Pass cannot be used together.

Hidden Power Electric may 3HKO Tentacruel depending on the set Omastar is running and lets it deter Tentacruel without having to worry about Hydro Pump's unreliable accuracy. However, using Hidden Power Electric over Hidden Power Grass leaves it Omastar vulnerable to Lanturn and Quagsire. RestTalk improves Omastar's longevity and also prevents it from being worn down by status, but it makes Omastar more passive and leaves it setup fodder for Pokemon like Slowking.

Omastar is widely regarded as one of the best Pokemon in UU the tier due to its excellent defensive and offensive qualities. Omastar's access to Spikes is incredibly important for virtually every playstyle, and it finds itself to be the easiest Spikes setter to fit on teams due to its great Defense and decent defensive typing in Water / Rock, which gives it useful resistances to Flying- and especially Normal-type moves; these traits also make it one of the best leads in the metagame and a solid check to powerful Pokemon like Scyther, Fearow, and Kangaskhan as well as one of the best leads in the metagame. Omastar's lack of reliable recovery and vulnerability to status don't help it either, since Leftovers can instantly be negated by poison or burn and offensive sets detest being paralyzed, since even under rain they will fail to outspeed many Pokemon.

Protect gives Omastar a turn of free Leftovers recovery and allows it to scout for super effective attacks. Hidden Power Grass is an option to threaten an to OHKO on opposing Omastar while also hitting other Water-types like Blastoise, Lanturn, and Quagsire. Another option is Ice Beam to take down while Ice Beam takes down Scyther and Altaria, which could possibly become dangerous if not taken care of, and prevents Grass-types like Vileplume from freely switching in.

Maximum HP and Defense EVs with a Bold nature let Omastar take multiple Earthquakes from Kangaskhan lacking Choice Band and use it as setup fodder for Spikes.

Team Options

Due to Omastar's lack of reliable recovery, it has to worry about being worn down by Spikes and status, especially poison. Thus, Rapid Spin users like Tentacruel, Blastoise, and Hitmontop are very important teammates. Grass- and Electric-types like Vileplume and Electabuzz are very dangerous to Omastar due to its weaknesses to them, so Pokemon that can check them such as Muk, Cradily, and Camerupt are mandatory members of its team. Wish passers such as Hypno and Kangaskhan are very helpful to increase Omastar's longevity, due to its as well due to Omastar's aforementioned lack of reliable recovery, increasing its longevity; Hypno is an especially powerful teammate due to its resistance to Fighting-type moves and good special bulk, and it also has Reflect to make physical attackers less of a nuisance. Lastly, strong attackers such as Scyther and Kangaskhan all greatly appreciate Spikes support, since it wears down several common checks and counters and makes bulkier threats much easier to take down.

========

Electric-types such as Electabuzz and Manectric can handle Blastoise and Tentacruel for Omastar with their super effective STAB moves; Kangaskhan also makes a very good answer to Tentacruel, since it always runs Earthquake.

[SET COMMENTS]
Set Description
=========

Lum Berry prevents Omastar from being crippled by poison, burn, and especially paralysis, since it which ensures that Omastar always outspeeds the entire metagame under rain.

Maximum Special Attack and Speed investment with a Modest nature is chosen to maximize the power of Omastar's attacks and let it outspeed the entire metagame under rain. Omastar can run as low as 96 Speed EVs to invest into defenses, which still allows it to outspeed Scyther and most Electric-types under rain, although this means that it will be unable to outrun Electrode, which can threaten to OHKO it with STAB Thunderbolt. (I would mention here the benefit of the bulk and that it can also make Omastar slightly more vulnerable outside of rain; standard Lunatone for instance would then outspeed outside rain and let it land a Psychic/Hypnosis, at the cost of being able to tank a Hidden Power Grass from like 0 SpA Walrein or something which omastar only has a small % chance of living at 0 HP otherwise)

Team Options
========

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

===================

Walrein can use Encore to lock Omastar into a non-attacking move like Rain Dance or Spikes and 3HKO it with Surf, inflict Toxic, or bring in a teammate to take advantage of Omastar's vulnerability.

Electrode is notable in that it often runs Thunder Wave, which makes Omastar too slow to outspeed most of the metagame even under rain. However, these Pokemon are all frail and would never want to take a STAB Hydro Pump from Rain Dance Omastar.

**Status Ailments**: Poison and burn will instantly negate Leftovers recovery and quickly wear down Omastar due to its lack of reliable recovery. Rain Dance sweeper Omastar strongly detests being paralyzed, since that means that even under rain it will fail to outspeed many threats, most notably Electric-types like Electabuzz.
