This year's SuperExcitingMysteryDraftPriceGuessingBonanza will hopefully continue the unprecedented excellence in guessing that last year's OMPL brought, with average guesses being out by only 1.3k helped along by an unheard of five (5) correct guesses from The Number Man, XxLazzerpenguinxX, baconeatinassassin, swag god and myself. Sadly not all of these incredible guessing prodigies are making a return to OMPL this time around which may give new up and coming players a chance to break into the top ranks.

The aim of this game is to guess your price in the draft (guessing undrafted doesn't count) and send your guesses to me in PMs either on smogon or discord.
I'll give a shoutout to anyone who is within 5% of their actual price (so exact price up to 10k, +-.5 up to 20k then +- 1k etc), or the next best if everyone sucks. 2024 edit: When I wrote this originally I wildly overestimated how good guesses would be in general and also didn't realise I would be writing a full in depth review every year for over half a decade so I'll just post whatever I feel like.

Drampa's Picks
As I'm not invested this year I thought I'd make a list of players I am personally keeping my eye on in the draft. A bit last minute (as in draft starts in under an hour) but that's me for you. Chris32156 - The first of two old Tyrantrums on this list because I'm nothing if not consistent, Chris Numbers is being extremely underestimated in moccs. He is a very solid 2v2 and doubles player, and with any support would make for one of the top slots in the tour.
Fissure - If you don't know Fissure you should. I would consider them the most consistently good STABmons player out there, as they've done well every time they've played over the years. Not a budget buy but a reliable slot-in any year.
Tea Guzzler - Tea is only support but because of that they'll likely be cheap af. And Tea level dedicated support is incredible, definitely someone to keep in mind.
Sammyce - Surprising nobody, Sammy is last on this list. Newcomer of the year, taking the solo circuit by storm, yet to be proven in OMPL. Will not be cheap, but definitely THE player to watch.

IVE MADE IT TO THE BIG LEAGUES RAAAAAAAAAAAAA
5-minute PRs
1. Rise Up Darkrais - a very fierce set of contenders with extremely solid non om players supported by reigning solo tour champs like career. This team is super deep and has no lack of premium players and good supporting slots, and I can't see any cardinal sins in their draft strategy, as they seemed to balance their slots evenly and definitely didn't overpay for any of their players. A successful squad of <5ks in Tect and Chris#s is key to their victory, and getting other players like LordBox on a roll will lead to a complete steamroll in the season.
2. Soul-Stealing Seven-Star Solgaleos - the name of the game is support. the icemaster jerk backed up with xavgb building and overall solid players will prevail, and I've learned my lesson to never bet against stresh and never count out the defending champions.
3. Heart Takers - this is where the decisions start to get difficult, with the Heart Takers being an all star team capturing sammy and other rising OM stars like pocmoc and don vascus. With probably the best single player in the pool in sammy paired with a premium manager pick, as well as very strong depth, I'd be surprised to see the HT leave the season at the bottom.
4. Dubwool Entendres - Hogging two of the best bo3 slots in the tour seems like a strategy that'll pay off here. With very strong generalist players and one of the top two manager pairs, I think this team did the best in the late-draft cheap picks finding solid players like will, sea, and mada to fill out subs. I think this could be bumped up a couple of slots if Racool was playing and in her prime and I was pretty bummed to hear she wouldn't be on the field, but I'd be hard pressed to discount her support.
5. Malevolent Misdreavuses - with strong ompl legends like pdt and mz as well as some premium picks like akira, I can see the missys going just far enough and wouldn't be surprised to see them steamrolling some lower teams but really struggling with prepping into premium manager pairs like S5s and the teams other above. I think the swing point on this team is PDT, and his record alone will probably reflect how well of a time the missys will have throughout the season.

Walking Wokes - These last couple of slots were pretty difficult with some teams barely beating out others, but I think that the Missys are the worst in-the-running team with a chance of making playoffs. Being essentially forced to start Jrdn is staring down another massive depth issue, especially after last season. Clas and pannu are both great players until they tilt or get burnt out later in the season. I think Redflix is the standout here as an mnm player, but I can tell this is going to be a very long season if this team doesn't come out of the gates strong.
7. Black Diamond Kyurems - Every team on this list has some premium picks in the tour and the BDKs got one of the most hyped players in the moccs with Chromate and might have comitted the cardinal sin of spending too much on one slot, but this team really lacks the building support that I would like to see. Should coast to a fine record and not an overwhelmingly bad team, but surely not the best one on the list. A team I would be pretty surprised to see in the playoffs.

A bit of a note is that the higher prices in this draft were actually quite low compared to average. 21.5k as the max, and the next one down at 17.5? Honestly I started doing this and was like... there's like one and it's just a risky buy that might work out. Managers just underpaid for everything.

What the team doesn't have is many subs. I'm also fairly clueless about the GG and Inh scene so uh... yeah. Lily is good, and I'm pretty sure I drafted support for her though. And everyone is hyping DFM right now.
I strongly considered:
LordBox - I had very good AAA already, but if I hadn't LordBox is right there and a serious steal. A pretty similar buy to Osake in that they're both good but rusty players who went for too little, and if I bought LordBox I wouldn't buy Osake for that reason.
MZ - Was weighing MZ vs shiloh. I have a very high opinion of shiloh, but MZ is also a good clicker and went for less. Would be my next choice for that same teamslot.
Jasprose - I want Jasprose in my teamcord more than anything and an excuse to hang out with them. But this isn't real so I don't have a teamcord.

I cba to do this for all tiers like last year but this is the cumulative rankings for BH. Basically got one representative from every team to rank every other team, took all the rankings removed top and bottom and averaged the rest. The ranks are for the team's BH slot as a whole so all support are considered. Shoutouts all the players that helped put this together

Misdreavuses have premier starter + ample amounts of support. The specific support options make it harder to prepare and can generate interesting ideas.
Virizzions have premier starter, but in comparison to above there is less support. It is however arguable that cityscapes does not need support but having ideas bounced around is always a good thing, even for cityscapes standards.
Kyurems. I ranked them based on their w1 lineup but I know some others did not and thats where the wide disparity in their rankings come from. Theoretically they have premier starter and arguably the most support (with a starter that is pretty open to various ideas).
Darkrais have premier starter but support is absent. This could potentially be an issue depending on how much TTTech is willing to cook.
Heart Takers (Manaphys?) will depend on how their starter picks up and performs in this meta. Skillwise should not be a problem but support being mostly limited to Ivar who could be spread thin.
Dubwools have capable players and support but their current starter lacks current gen experience and among support only QT is fully up-to-date.
Solgaleos have capable starter but support can be severely lacking especially considering the tier in question is BH.
