Opinions on "n00bjask"

It's an evil pest. It's a living migraine! No, it's "n00bjask"!

Some trainers back in Advance and even now in D/P use this very annoying Ninjask. The plan usually works like this: Ninjask uses Substitute, and the opponent attacks. Likely the sub gets broken while Ninjask, who automatically Speed Boosts, is untouched. Next turn, Ninjask Protects itself from the opponent's attack. If the Sub was broken, Ninjask puts up a new one on turn 3. Ninjask Protects again. If the sub was broken again, Ninjask puts up a third one. Another Protect, and at this point, after three subs, Ninjask only has 25% of its max HP left. However, it's been six turns, so Ninjask now has max speed. And what happens then? Ninjask Passes that 4x speed bonus to another Pokemon, probably a sweeper that will send your Pokemon flying into their Poke Balls harder than a corked baseball bat (and 4 times as fast). You never know what hit you.

What are your thoughts and opinions on this strategy?

I think this is a very cheap strategy, personally. It probably frustrates many new players because they can't touch Ninjask. However, it is probably counterable with Ice Shard and/or Haze.

Ninjask used Sub, opponent sends in a phazer because they know that's all Ninjask ever does. Ninjask is Roared/Whirlwinded out without doing anything, and just lost 25% of its health for no reason.

Well at least the newer players learn the importance of speed and priority. I remember my first team was composed of something like a modest Gengar, modest Alakazam, adamant Gallade, adamant Electivire, Blissey, and Bronzong. It was a very slow team overall, and all the sweepers were Sash'd, so I quickly realized how many times I would get owned after they put up SR and got off a speed boost.

not too noob. it's a bit of a gambling strategy imo, especially early game. often my opponent BP's to something that's not a mixed sweeper, i send in my wall and they're forced to switch out. the strat could work if they BP'd to something like lucario late game, but i don't like using ninjask too early anymore. i played this guy who just waits and BP's speed boosts to poliwhirl late game. poliwhirl uses hypnosis, belly drums and sweeps.

Ninjask is the easiest baton passer to counter. It has no statuses, MAYBE its carrying x-scissor, and it can't taunt you to stop you from phazing it. However, you can taunt it through its sub, and set up while its forced to switch out.

Noob sent out ninjask

derek send out scarf gar

derek used thunderbolt

ninjask died

this is how most battles happen, when ninjask is sent out against me.

too me, ninjask is an inferior starter to the likes of gyarados, gengar and breloom.

Not to mention anything with TW/WOW is a decent switch in if you are out of real counters as you can status whatever is coming in before it gets an attack in. Ninjask has many strategies that beat it, many times they will work and other times they won't.

Let me start by saying, what.

The person TRULY IS a noob if they don't protect on the turn you switch in. They do that, and then they can alternate between sub + protect and setup on your precious scarfgar.

I find it's a great trainer pokemon, letting newer players get to use actually good pokemon with more ease. Then when they see the viability of those pokemon without a Ninjask, they can free up their team slot! I'd personally never use it seriously, but some do.
