Hey everyone,
I recently became the ORAS C&C mod and a cool thread I've been wanting to make is to have a weekly showcase of a mon in the current meta that we recently updated their analysis set in the ORAS dex. We revamped / modernize the ORAS dex quite a bit in the past 1-2 years and although there remains to be a few edges to round, I'm very proud of the work we've done.
Feel free to discuss the set and alternative EV spreads or movesets, or any different set on the mon itself.

Week 1 - Stallbreaker Serperior
Week 1 - Stallbreaker Serperior
Serperior @ Rocky Helmet / Lum Berry
Ability: Contrary
EVs: 208 HP / 48 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Hidden Power Rock / Hidden Power Fire / Synthesis
- Taunt / Knock Off
- Glare
The traditional set that Serperior runs is usually coverage with longevity as 4th such as Substitute, Rest, or Synthesis. Instead, this set aims to specifically break stall instead of general defensive Pokemon. This could go either way, either Taunt + HP Rock/Fire + Rocky Helmet (All-Out) or Knock Off/Taunt + Lum Berry + Synthesis (Midground). The All-Out version has no longevity, but with Taunt + Rocky Helmet it can 1v1 Chansey and Skarmory and is genuinely great vs. BO/Balanced as well as often times Taunting a Zapdos or Ferrothorn can be game changing. HP Fire is for Mega Scizor / Amoonguss fat, and HP Rock is for pressure Zapdos fat or ease the matchup for Mega Charizard Y or Volcarona. Without recovery, it loses its ability to pivot, so team adjustments must be made.
The Midground set (Lum Berry + Synthesis + Knock Off/Taunt) can also put tremendous pressure on stall/fat, but comes at the cost of having no real coverage options and often being walled by Mega Scizor, Amoonguss, etc. However, thanks to Lum Berry and Synthesis, it becomes a much better pivot on Water-types and Grass-types. For example, it can switch into Serperior and trade Glare, or switch in Rotom-W, Slowbro, or Keldeo and shrug off a burn. It also has the advantage of being fully max speed and thus potentially outspeeding other Serperiors that are running 30 Spe IVs for a Taunt or a Glare.
The real genius of this set are the EVs: 208 HP / 48 SpA is just enough SpA to be a threat after one Leaf Storm, while also maintining quite a large amount of bulk. Specifically, it eats exactly 3 Seismic Toss from Chansey afte Rocks, which should be more than enough to beat it. The extra bulk comes with other perks too, such as living Tornadus's Hurricane from full and +1 Mega Gyarados's Crunch after rocks.
