Metallica126 vs Ox the Fox
pj vs NoName6293 - Both are pretty solid, this can go either way
ACR1 vs Always! - He is a good builder and I think he wins this
lighthouses vs Savouras - this also looks almost equal but I think savouras has high chances to win

These predictions are not meant to hurt player's feelings, just my point of view. Peace.

Persephone
vs Sna - early mu, upset is possible
avarice vs Hacker - justice for MANNAT

Tenebricite vs kingofking - close one, going with king tho
BluBirD vs Poek - bloooooby
Metallica126 vs Ox the Fox - my goat
pj vs NoName6293 - one of the closest ones, pj is a recurring invitational performer and usually does well but im giving the edge to noname

Ruffles vs Lusa - Ive played against Lusa many times before i stopped playing and he was already really good, rarely made big mistakes. after i came back i found out he had played in spl multiple times with good results and thats unsurprising to me, his weakness is how obvious it is what hes gonna load everytime but i think hes better ingame so ill favor that in a bo3
feen vs HSK7 - i think feen is the type to struggle vs people who play like hsk does
GeniusX vs BlazingDark
Destro16 vs devin
Eternal Spirit
vs crying
Persephone vs Sna
avarice vs MANNAT
Niko vs c0mp - id be surprised to see comp go to losers this early, i also feel seen and represented when every single game his timer is at 10 seconds
Finchinator vs Breezy - finch will 100% pull up with solid teams and will make few mistakes, if he bothers to watch replays and see breezy has been using the same 3 teams i think hes heavily favoured
cloud and book vs Paprikaflow - i actually feel this is pretty even, cloud and book seems like they improve with every set i watch them play
Tenebricite vs kingofking - similar clicking ability but much more experience in the tier
BluBirD vs Poek
Metallica126 vs Ox the Fox - metallica is a demon nowadays, hes improved a lot ever since last spl and he was already good back then
pj vs NoName6293
ACR1 vs Always! - rooting for always but Enzo made finals last time for a good reason

Let's see how accurate I will be with these predictions...

Ruffles vs Lusa - Can't wait to see what Ruffles has cooked for this invitational. It's such a pleasure to watch his techs working out as intended. However, Lusa is a really strong player and will give Ruffles a run for his money.
feen vs HSK7 - Hisoka decided to take my advice for his last round of playins which I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it. Will this trend continue? or will he revert to using the same 3 teams yet again...
GeniusX vs BlazingDark
Destro16 vs devin
Eternal Spirit
vs crying - I want to see Gama back in action for oras.
Persephone vs Sna - you got this queen!
avarice vs MANNAT
Niko vs c0mp - great year in oras c0mp has had so far. Niko is a great player, however, this one won't be easy for either.
Finchinator vs Breezy - I feel like Breezy has a strong in game but the lack of variability in teams as well as Finchinator being a really strong opponent (even though I'm not sure how closely he has followed the oras scene) will make this a really interesting set to watch. Breezy might pull an upset if he decides to finally switch teams.
cloud and book vs Paprikaflow - I've known Paprika forr a while now and I believe he has the upper hand here. He has also had a great year so far when it comes to tournaments.
Tenebricite vs kingofking - I've seen this play out before very recently, but I'm inclined to still bold King over Tene. I believe King has a better chance on a bo3.
BluBirD vs Poek - I want my goat Blub to win, but Poek has been on the top of his game for a while and even though he might not play as much as 10 years ago, he is still a force to reccon with.
Metallica126 vs Ox the Fox - Metallica has had really interesting showings this last year and to my knowledge plays more oras than Ox does. Even still, this can go both ways depending on many factors.
pj vs NoName6293 - pj has had great invitational results before, but noname is a really good player and I believe him to be able to best praj.
ACR1 vs Always! - last invitational's finalist should be favored here, but Always is a fellow gimic enjoyer and I hope he can give a good show.
lighthouses vs Savouras - this set is cursed... How many times will this happen this year?

There are no admin decisions so I’m going to do it here,

Avarice and mannat agreed to play on Monday 5 PM. Mannat was unable to play at that agreed time due to unforeseen circumstances and asked for a reschedule, at 5 PM. Avarice refused the rescheduling request. Act is valid. Avarice wins r1

Please remember that act is always valid from the opponent if you agree on a scheduled time and for whatever reason do not play in 30 minute window from that time. It’s courtesy for the opponent to let you reschedule so close to the time, not mandatory. Make sure to pick better scheduling times. And if asking to reschedule, please ask at least 1 hour in advance, in that scenario I can come in and we can discuss a reschedule.

I don’t want there to be acts in an invitational, so be more careful

On a Monday

RE: Mannat

Mannat chose to drop out from the tournament.

Mannat will be replaced by Hacker, as he was eliminated by Dugza who later dropped out

New Matchup: Hacker vs. avarice

RE: Mannat & Dugza

Mannat dropped out without playing a single game w1 of mains, after an act loss. For that, he will be banned from next year's invitational

Dugza dropped after being given a second chance in playins (after getting eliminated) to make it to mains, and after playing multiple weeks. This is a much more milder transgression, but will factor in our decision to invite him next year.

Please respect our invitational tour and be sure to commit to the entire tour if you accept the invitation. People who dropped out before the tournament started but after accepting the invite due to changed circumstances are fine, we understand things happen, just let us know in advance.

The actwin meta is actually one of the biggest cancers on this site. The culture has become so results obsessed that its preferable to not play the game for a guarenteed free win. If its a high stakes game, its not dissimilar to asking to be ghosted by a better player - essentially looking for an unearned win.

If someone accepts an invite for (or runs) an invitational, they should be looking to play (or host) as many high quality games as possible. If you're going to run from a game on monday, when you obviously have time to reschedule you should quit, why sign up if you are not willing to play. To hosts - allowing this kind of stuff at the upper level will kill the game, just like ghosting culture needed to be rooted out, we shouldnt allow a culture that rewards and celebrates dodging the core of our hobby.

Sorry for the rant, idc about this invitational specifically (i only clicked on the thread to see if always was invited), but I do think there needs to be a culture shift wrt to this stuff.

Predictions; foregoing matchup outcome likelihoods since I realize now that any Pokemon game has odds no worse than 65/35.

Ruffles vs Lusa
This is a highlight matchup for sure. Everybody knows Ruffles and the strong performances he's put out (including winning the most recent ORAS Invitational), but as a player Lusa is just as good. I think I've only ever played him a few times close to a decade ago, but I know that I surely got stomped every game. Really close but I give the edge to Ruffles since he's probably more up-to-date with the meta and will have the prep advantage.

feen vs HSK7
My leafy buddy the feenster has been killing it in Masters recently, while my brother HSK7 had a strong run from play-ins, so both are doing well at the moment. I think feen has a slight advantage if he locks in, but if he gives even a little ground to HSK7 in-game then he'll probably be punished hard for it. Can't decide who gets the edge here.

GeniusX vs BlazingDark
GeniusX is a gifted clicker and very quickly adapted to ORAS when he had to fill in during SPL, pulling off some excellent wins. I think with some kind of support in the builder he will put up a competitive game, but BD just has more experience in the tier and is comfortable using non-standard stuff to win, so I give him the odds in this series.

Destro16 vs devin
Destro16 is very powerful in-game and generally brings good teams, but I think devin is the kind of player who has more experience in those low-timer scenarios that I often observe both players find themselves in. Apart from plays and prep, time management is what I associate the most with these two and I think devin will have the edge if it comes down to it. But if this very specific scenario doesn't occur then it's about even, as Destro16 has major clutching ability, shown in his win vs devin in the finals of RoAPL.

Eternal Spirit vs crying
I'm not familiar with either player's recent happenings, but I do remember getting trashed by crying a few years ago, and that's all I have to go on, so I will believe that they will attain victory. WRAWN magic and all that shouldn't be discounted though so I'm sure this'll be close.

Persephone vs Sna
I've been very impressed with Sna's performances recently, but I'm not sure if they're at the point where they could consistently beat someone like Persephone, whose building chops give them a pretty big advantage in the builder. I think Sna can close the gap somewhat if they focus on their in-game, but it's difficult for me to see them having an advantage vs Persephone unless they also get a good matchup. All my past predictions against Sna have been wrong though so who knows.

avarice vs MANNAT
There's something very funny about this matchup but I genuinely have no idea what it is. I think it might be avarice's all lowercase vs MANNAT's all uppercase usernames or something stupid like that. Anyways, I think avarice has been hotter than MANNAT in ORAS recently so I believe he's gonna win. I hope MANNAT's been secretly cooking in the background and gives us some cool games.

LMFAO I WAS RIGHT THIS WAS A FUNNY AF MU. WTF LMAO. My sincerest condolences to MANNAT; I hope we still get more opportunities to watch your ORASing.

avarice vs Hacker
I am begging you Hacker PLEASE SHOW UP TO THE GAME. avarice cannot be defeated otherwise. Going with avarice due to his flawless victory in the first round.

Niko vs c0mp
c0mp has been especially awesome recently but I can't discount Niko's results and general skill so I believe this one's pretty even. If I had to, I'd give the tiniest of preference to c0mp here though. Not much more to say, narmean?

Finchinator vs Breezy
I happen to be a big Finchfan, and I think he's got a favorable matchup against Breezy. If Finch cares, his tryharding will be memorizing Breezy's teams and talking about his sets in chat. But while I think Finch is favored, I highly doubt Breezy will be reusing teams here since he's been doing that way too much recently, and without that easy advantage he's pretty formidable in-game, so I don't foresee this being an easy series for either player.

cloud and book vs Paprikaflow
While Paprikaflow has been doing terrific in all his recent tournaments, I have a feeling that cloud and book will win this series, even though he's not as consistent. Both his playstyle and his brings match up well into Paprikaflow in my opinion, so this would be a rare matchup where I think the odds are against the spicy German.

Tenebricite vs kingofking
Both have great results; the more well-rounded clicker in Tenebricite will still have it tough against the more ORAS-focused Howtow1n, so it looks pretty even to me.

BluBirD vs Poek
I think BluBirD's the kinda guy to be more motivated in this type of tour so I think his prep will be better. On the other hand, Poek's in-game is more consistently strong, so this'll probably come down to if BluBirD gets good MUs and doesn't make mistakes. Otherwise I lean towards Poek in a Bo3. Likely another highly enjoyable watch.

Metallica126 vs Ox the Fox
Metallica126 is super strong and I will always rate him very highly. In ORAS I think he's just more up-to-date than Ox the Fox is, so recent experience favors him. Ox is an OG who's been playing since ORAS was a CG though, so I'm curious to see his approach this series.

pj vs NoName6293
Indian teamkilling gives me a little solace after getting owned by pj in this year's RCOP Quarterfinals tiebreak. Both are super good but I feel like NoName6293 will take this one based on vibes. He's got that "Invitational Champion Slayer" mindset.

lighthouses vs Savouras
LOL. It seems as if lighthouses has basically been playing the same people over and over again this year. I was really impressed by both his building and playing ability after getting a chance to team with him in ORASPL (even after his very decent SPL performance). While I am also a big fan of Savouras and his creative teams, I think lighthouses will take revenge in this series.

Hope everybody has fun!

The act is still valid, as it is in line with the Smogon tournament rules found here. I highly recommend everyone being very familiar with it so you can avoid vulnerable situations like this. If you think these rules are abuse-able and exploitable, please take it up with smogon super staff and tournament directors and make suggestions, this thread isn't really for that kind of stuff.

However since the community is understandably upset at an act call on a Monday & in an invitational (although a valid one), we will introduce stricter home-based rules against acting starting next year for this tour specifically.

I will also revoke Mannat's ban from next year's invitational

Enjoy the rest of the tour
