Hippowdon @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Earthquake
- Slack Off

Hippowdon sits on Tapu Koko and doesn’t really mind Victini too much if Tapu Koko tries and U-turns into it. Hippowdon can’t switch into Victini but it gets plenty of switch in opportunities against Tapu Koko which more than makes up for it. Once it gets in on the field it can throw off Earthquakes, set up Stealth Rock or spread Toxic. It’s reliable recovery also allows it to check them throughout the whole game.

252 SpA Tapu Koko Dazzling Gleam vs. 252 HP / 248+ SpD Hippowdon: 94-112 (22.3 - 26.6%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery

0 Atk Hippowdon Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tapu Koko: 272-324 (96.7 - 115.3%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO

252 Atk Victini V-create vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Hippowdon: 213-252 (50.7 - 60%) -- 85.9% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
4- SpA Victini Glaciate vs. 252 HP / 248+ SpD Hippowdon: 76-90 (18 - 21.4%) -- possible 7HKO after Leftovers recovery

0 Atk Hippowdon Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Victini: 236-282 (69.2 - 82.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after sandstorm damage

Bro who needs Regidrago when we have Dragalge? Fr tho this thing is a monster when used correctly. The bulk investment lets it almost always take 2 Victini V-Creates after rocks(Glaciate is weaker than V-Create, even though its super effective), and even with no SpD investment this thing's natural special bulk lets it tank anything Koko wants to throw at it.
252+ SpA Victini Glaciate vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Dragalge: 110-130 (33-39%) -- 99.5% chance to 3HKO
252+ Atk Victini V-create vs. 248 HP / 128 Def Dragalge: 127-150 (38.1-45%) -- 8.2% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Tapu Koko Dazzling Gleam vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Dragalge: 88-105 (26.4-31.5%) -- 37.1% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock
0 Atk Landorus-T Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 128 Def Dragalge: 284-336 (85.2 - 100.9%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO
And Adaptability plus its natural SpA and specs lets it pound both mons, as well as anything that switches in with the correct prediction.
132+ SpA Choice Specs Adaptability Dragalge Sludge Bomb vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Tapu Koko: 600-708 (212.7 - 251%) -- guaranteed OHKO
132+ SpA Choice Specs Adaptability Dragalge Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Victini: 342-404 (100.2 - 118.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
132+ SpA Choice Specs Dragalge Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Ferrothorn: 204-242 (57.9 - 68.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
132+ SpA Choice Specs Dragalge Thunder vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Toxapex: 164-194 (53.9 - 63.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery
132+ SpA Choice Specs Adaptability Dragalge Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Landorus-T: 284-336 (74.3-87.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after leftovers recovery(at -2 the min roll is 37.6% so if you live the follow-up EQ you have very good odds to KO Lando, and keep in mind max SpD Lando is rare, standard scarf Lando gets obliterated by DM on the switch)
It very much appreciates VoltTurn support to get it on the field vs stuff it scares out or can tank out, Scizor in particular works well since it lures Tini. It can also form a potent DragonSpam core with Regidrago for some double dragon destruction.

bulky heatran can switch into both a couple times, but the core is usually paired with spikes and it's easy to just click uturn on for both victini and tapu koko, so basically it fails as a check. with a choice scarf, however, heatran can outspeed both and hit them with a powerful earth power and actually force them out. tapu koko nees very little chip to be put into range, while victini is soundly 2hkod, as they both only have a small chance to 2hko heatran with their electric moves boosted by electric terrain. the speed is enough to outspeed koko with choice scarf btw.
basically, can switch into both if needed and has good enough power to kill them. however, if you're using scarf heatran in sun with eruption, you should be very wary of switching in and do so only if absolutely necessary.

Quick announcement before we start: from now I'll be co-hosting this thread alongside Tysonslayer and Windingsss, thanks to both of them!
Now, let's get started!

:master ball: Threats of the Round :master ball:

:gastrodon: Our beloved Sinnoh slug stands out as a true hard counter to the core, fearing only the rare and hard to fit Grass Knot from Tapu Koko and Energy Ball from Victini. Anything else, Gastrodon easily eats and heals with Recover, while threatening both with its STAB Earthquake.

:tyranitar: Despite being slower and weak to Bug, Choice Band Tyranitar can still work as an offensive check via resisting Victini's powerful V-create. Thanks to its great natural bulk and the Special Defense boost in Sandstorm, Tyranitar can stomach a couple of hits from both, force them out and deal significant damage to whatever comes in.

:premier ball: Additional Notes :premier ball:

:swampert: Gastrodon without longevity: same typing and decent bulk allow Swampert to temporarily check the core, although it will eventually fall to repeated damage and potentially hazards, making it overall much less reliable than Gastrodon. As a plus side, however, Swampert can generate its own momentum and set Stealth Rock for the team, which is certainly more useful for those niche offensive teams Swampert fits into.

:nihilego: Interesting pick with special bulk to handle Tapu Koko 1v1, Speed to outpace Victini, typing and power to easily dispose of them. However, the inability to switch in more than once and reliance on Power Herb for a safe OHKO on Victini make it only a one-time answer to the core.

:kartana: It's by no means a switch-in to either, but, thanks to its ridiculous Attack + Choice Scarf making it faster than Tapu Koko, it only needs small chip damage to threaten a safe OHKO on both with the appropriate move and can also live any one hit from Tapu Koko in a pinch. Definitely a scary offensive threat to the core.

:leftovers: :sm/landorus-therian: Round 13: Landorus-T + Ferrothorn :sm/ferrothorn: :leftovers:

Gen V takes over this week with two of the best Pokémon to ever grace the OU Tier: Landorus-T and Ferrothorn. This sturdy core fits on a multidude of teams with their extensive defensive profile and utility movepool, of which U-turn, Knock Off, Toxic and Leech Seed are stand-out options. Having also access to Spikes, Stealth Rock and Defog provides excellent versatility in the hazards game. This duo also shares great defensive synergy thanks to their top-tier abilities and by mostly covering each other's checks and bad matchups.
Despite all these praises, there's no such thing as the perfect core: how do you think you can break through this one?

Conkeldurr @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Facade
- Knock Off
- Mach Punch
Conkeldurr is a pretty underrated mon in OU dealing a lot of damage in general whilst having great neutral coverage which makes it able to break through a lot of defensive cores in the tier. This core is no exception.

With the combination of strong Fighting STAB and good neutral coverage in Facade it is able to break through this core if you play your cards right. The biggest problem here is that they are able to switch around your Facade and Close Combat / Drain Punch to deal chip damage via burn and Iron Barbs to the point that Lando's EQ KO's. Otherwise Big Conk will not struggle too much with this core even being able to tank the attacks this core throws around because of its great physical bulk.

An alternate option could be running Ice Punch over a move of your choice. But Facade is a really strong neutral hit against Fairies and other Fighting resists whilst Knock Off is a very spammable move especially when coming from Conk's big and swole arms. If you do decide to run Ice Punch Lando easily gets OHKO'd.

252+ Atk Guts Conkeldurr Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 124 Def Ferrothorn: 492-578 (139.7 - 164.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Tangrowth @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Giga Drain
- Knock Off
- Focus Blast

- Sleep Powder

Tangrowth can defensively check and threaten both Pokemon, as Landorus-Ts Earthquake won't do much to Tangrowth due to Tangrowth enormous physical bulk. Landorus-T struggles immensly with Tangrowth and Tangrowth with Giga Drain can also recover health from Landorus-T. Furthermore Tangrowth can check Ferrothorn and it can threaten it and weaken it with a Focus Blast. Tangrowth can Knock Off both their items in Leftovers, therefore weakening them in the progress. Sleep Powder can also threaten Landorus-T and make it temporarily useless. Its natural bulk + ability in Regenerator make Tangrowth a great defensive counterplay to both Landorus-T and Ferrothorn. The only things Tangrowth has to be careful about are Toxic / Knock Off, respectively. But in overall Tangrowth is a great defensive answer to both and a long-lasting defensive threat towards both Pokemon.

Pretty Straight forward in terms of wallbreaking, you punch holes through standard FerroLando squads thanks to your stab combination in conjunction with coverage and water absorb allowing you to beat alot of the usual water resists, such as Tapu Fini, Toxapex, and Ferrothorn itself, it can be a struggle to bring it especially because those teams like to lay down their hazards, but it's worth it for the destructive power of this set.

Clefable can easily set up Calm Mind multiple times while facing Ferrothorn and Landorus-T, as it is immune to all passive damage and it can take any attacks they dish out extremely well, as the most threatening attack it faces is an Earthquake from Lando-T, which 3HKO's, meaning it can easily shrug it off thanks to its instant recovery in Softboiled.
Offensively, Clefable can 4HKO/5HKO (after Knock Off) Landorus-Therian with an uninvested Moonblast, however, as it is extremely easy to set up, this means Clefable can easily become threatening after a few boosts.
Meanwhile, Ferrothorn only 4HKOs Clefable with Power Whip, meaning it's even easier to set up on.
Finally, Ice Beam or Flamethrower can be chosen as coverage options depending on which of the two you wish to hit more immediately.

So Buzzwole in and of itself is nothing new, and this set is honestly not much different than other Buzzwole sets out there. But with Sub+Roost it can tank anything either of Ferro or SpD Lando can throw its way for ages(calcs below). The EVs are to outpseed standard 120 Spe SpD Heatran, which also lets it outspeed 0 Spe Lando. Lando might want to switch in on Close Combat, only for Buzz to sub on the switch and become a stone wall for Lando, with sub blocking Toxic and Knock Off's item removal, as well as Leech Seed from Ferro. Roost keeps the set healthy obv. In the event of Lando coming in on CC, seeing Buzz sub up, then U-turning or doubling out, you get a free hit on whatever comes in.

252+ SpA Volcarona Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Ferrothorn: 528-624 (150 - 177.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+1 252+ SpA Volcarona Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 244+ SpD Landorus-Therian: 255-300 (66.7 - 78.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Landorus-Therian Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Volcarona: 210-247 (67.5 - 79.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
0 Atk Ferrothorn Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Volcarona: 94-111 (30.2 - 35.6%) -- 33.7% chance to 3HKO

reserving bulu
:ss/tapu_bulu:
Tapu Bulu @ Life Orb
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Horn Leech
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge

Even after intim bulu outspeeds lando and has a very favorable roll to kill from full (full health lando is a myth tho). Also if you really want you can run adrenaline orb to fuck with lando extra hard
+1 252+ Atk Life Orb Tapu Bulu Horn Leech vs. 252 HP / 12 Def Landorus-Therian in Grassy Terrain: 370-437 (96.8 - 114.3%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO
+1 252+ Atk Tapu Bulu Horn Leech vs. 252 HP / 12 Def Landorus-Therian in Grassy Terrain: 285-336 (74.6 - 87.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Bulu sets up on the listed ferro variant and blows it up with +2 cc
+2 252+ Atk Life Orb Tapu Bulu Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 124 Def Ferrothorn: 536-632 (152.2 - 179.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Reserving offensive balloon Heatran
:SS/Heatran:
Heatran @ Air Balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Magma Storm
- Earth Power
- Flash Cannon / Taunt
- Stealth Rock
Offensive Heatran can do heavy Damage to Landorus-Therian with Magma Storm, and Ferrothorn obviously gets destroyed by it. Air Balloon allows it to get free chip on Landorus-Therian once, and allows it to float above Ferrothorn’s Spikes until the Air Balloon is popped.

252+ SpA Heatran Magma Storm vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Landorus-Therian: 150-177 (39.2 - 46.3%) -- 89.1% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock, Leftovers recovery, and trapping damage
252+ SpA Heatran Magma Storm vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Ferrothorn: 468-552 (132.9 - 156.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Xatu @ Colbur Berry
Level: 100
Bold Nature
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
- Night Shade
- Roost
- Teleport
- Heat Wave

Xatu can easily prevent any kind of hazards coming in from both of these mons, while also being immune to leech seed and toxic because of magic bounce. Colbur berry makes sure knock from lando is never a 2HKO, and xatu doesnt need boots vs this core, as it can stop hazards from coming up. night shade for some consistent damage, teleport for momentum, roost for longevity, heat wave can be several things but i put heat wave since it has about a 50% chance to 2hko ferro

Moltres @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 52 HP / 200 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Flamethrower
- Hurricane
- U-turn
- Roost

Very simple and self-explanatory. Ferrothorn is absolutely useless to fire, and Lando can't hit him.
However, Moltres must be wary of Stone Edge from Lando - but if they're running a hazard core, I doubt they're running offensive Lando.
Knock Off from Ferrothorn is another thing to be wary of, as Moltres hates losing its boots.

Calcs:
200 SpA Moltres Hurricane vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-Therian: 204-240 (53.4 - 62.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
200 SpA Moltres Flamethrower vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Ferrothorn: 360-424 (102.2 - 120.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Hawlucha @ Grassy Seed / Electric Seed
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 252 Atk / 132 SpD / 124 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Acrobatics
- Close Combat
- Substitute / Taunt

The Mon of a Thousand Speed, Hawlucha may only be a Peso Mosca, but it turns these two OU behemoths into complete set up fodder. Landorus-T's attacks are completely blanked by its typing, and Substitute / Taunt invalidates Toxic, while Hawlucha is free to set up Sword Dance all day, before succumbing to its Acrobatics. Ferrothorn is similarly walled, and can only sit there and watch it gets finished off by a Close Combat.

+2 252+ Atk Hawlucha Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 252 HP / 12 Def Landorus-Therian: 336-396 (87.9 - 103.6%) -- 25% chance to OHKO
+1 252+ Atk Hawlucha Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 252 HP / 12 Def Landorus-Therian: 252-297 (65.9 - 77.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252+ Atk Hawlucha Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 124 Def Ferrothorn: 488-576 (138.6 - 163.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+1 252+ Atk Hawlucha Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 124 Def Ferrothorn: 366-432 (103.9 - 122.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
