OU Encore

OU Encore

This is my latest team that I am using in OU battles. It is made so that it can tackle the most common opponents and set in OU battles.

Infernape

Infernape@ Focus Sash

  • Blaze
  • 64 Atk | 192 Spd | 252 Sp.Atk
  • Hasty (-Def, +Spd)
  • Moveset:
    • Fake Out - Destroys Sash leads and aleays deals some damadge each time it switches in and uses it.
    • Stealth Rock - SR weakns all pokes with each switch and it hurts Mence and Gyara badley so they will think twice about switching.
    • Fire Blast - Fire Blast hits hard, gets STAB and it gets extra power from Blaze.
    • Encore - After I have brought SR up I can use Encore on many pokes who didnt attack but tried to set up. Then I can bring in Mence for set up or soften up the opponents team.
    .....
    • Why this Pokemon?:
Infernape ca deal with many common leads. And after they have used SR I just Encore them and switch to the best poke atm. Encore can also stop CroCune, CurseLax or anything that is trying to set up dead in their tracks.
    .....
    • EVs & Nature:
      • The Atk EVs are just there to give Fake Out a bit more damadge. I could drop them for more speed. Sp.Atk EVs are there to maximize Fire Blast damage. And the Speed EVs are a minimum but I coul put the Atk EVs there.
      .....
    • Considered Changes
      • Atk EVs to speed.

zapdos.png

Zapdos @ Leftovers

  • Pressure
  • 248 HP | 228 Def | 32 Spd
  • Bold (-Atk, +Def)
  • Moveset:
    • Heat Wave- OHKO on Scizor and some other steels which is needed. Also it gives me a way to deal acceptable damage to Rotom forms and those who are immune to electric.
    • Roar - Stops set ups and blows away subs. Keeps Ninjask and Baton Pass team at bay. It also does damadge with SR up.
    • Roost - Its there for recovery and to stall with Pressure sometimes. Needs it if SR is up.
    • Thunderbolt- The STAB move and my way of dealing with Waters and everything that doesnt ressist it.
    .....
  • Why this Pokemon?:
With all the Scizors out ther Zapdos is needed. Its awesome at countering it. And I am in the need of a PHazer and Zapdos does that job great with its bulk and Roost.
    .....
  • EVs & Nature:
    • Standard EV's are standard.
    .....
  • Considered Changes
    • No changes here. Zapdos does its job with an A.

242Blissey.png

Blissey @ Leftovers

  • Natural Cure
  • 252 HP | 252 Def | 4 Sp.Def
  • Bold (-Atk, +Def)
  • Moveset:
    • Armoatherapy - This move keeps my team fresh from status see they can sweep and fullfill their jobs.
    • Seismic Toss - This is Blisseys way of dealing damage and and to break subs that are breakable.
    • Softboiled - The recovery move that I abuse and that keeps the Easter egg alive.
    • Thunder Wave - Paralysis support is helpful on this team. It also spoils the fun for Scarf users and DDusers. Also gives Blissey a easier time to deal with Jirachi.
    .....
  • Why this Pokemon?:
The best Special wall in the game. Can take hits for a long time. Seismic Toss breaks Subs from Heatran, Zapdos and the like. With the moves and EVs it can support this team with great effectiveness. Also with TW it can goe head-to-head with some top OU threats. DDT-tar, DDMence and DDGyara to name some. If they expect it to run they will get a TW.
    .....
  • EVs & Nature:
    • These EVs let it survive some physical attacks which gives Blissey a chance to come out on top aggainst some physical attackers. It can even survive a Expolsion from Heatran and other pokes.
    .....
  • Considered Changes
    • None at the moment.

Salamence.png

Salamence @ Life Orb

  • Intimidate
  • 232 Atk | 24 Sp.Atk | 252 Spd
  • Naive (-Sp.Def, +Spd)
  • Moveset:
    • Dragon Dance - Dragon Dance is Dragon Dance. With the help off Apes Encore it is much easier to set up.
    • Fire Blast - Fire Blast is obvious. It lets me deal with Skarmory, Scizor and Forretress. Can also be good if Im not ready for Outrage
    • Earthquake - After a DD EQ deals massive damage to steel types and whatever doesnt ressist it. Its also a good move I dont want to look myself into Outrage.
    • Outrage - The killer move. After one DD Salamence can nearly OHKO everything or at least 2HKO everthing that doesnt ressist it.
    .....
  • Why this Pokemon?:
DDmence works great with Apes Encore. Can easliy set up and proceed to sweep. Its ability is great for reducing attack stats of the opponent when they try to DD or if I want to soften the blow my next poke will take. After Mence comes in on Jirachi and gets replaced by Bliss, Bliss will take Jirachi physical blows much better and TW it so that it can kill it off with Seismic Toss.
    .....
  • EVs & Nature:
    • Its the standard EVs for the DD set. Fire Blast is Always a OHKO on Skarmory. A max Attack Outrage stands at a 20% chance of OHKOing 252/252 Relaxed Swampert after Stealth Rock which is a great feat.
    .....
  • Considered Changes
    • None at the moment.

scizor.png

Scizor @ Choice Band

  • Technician
  • 248 HP | 252 Atk | 8 Spd
  • Adamant (-Sp.Atk, +Atk)
  • Moveset:
    • Bullet Punch - It is the core move of Scizor. It can ripp teams in shreds and revenge kill faster than you can blink.
    • Pursuit - This move can play mind games with Bullet Punch. It traps Latias, Gengar, Rotom forms and other ghost and psychic types who are trying to flee and OHKOs them.
    • Superpower - OHKOs Heatran, Tyranitar, Magnezon and Blissey to name some. Deals massive damage to everything that doesnt ressist.
    • U-Turn - Softens up the opponents team and lets me scout the opponent and maybe show if they have Magnezone or not.
    .....
  • Why this Pokemon?:
Scizor is the physical sweeper of the team. Blissey and Scizor work well together. Blissey does a great job at slowing the opponent with TW which helps Scizor. Scizor can also take the Ice attacks aimed at Zapdos, Salamence and Latias. It can also take The Ghost and Dark attacks that are intended for Latias.
    .....
  • EVs & Nature:
    • Its The standar EVs for the CB set and they are perfect as they are.
    .....
  • Considered Changes
    • None at the moment.

latias4.gif

Latias @ Choice Scarf

  • Levitate
  • 4 HP | 252 SpA | 252 Spd
  • Timid (-atk, +Spd)
  • Moveset:
    • Draco Meteor - Draco is for hard STAB, dealing damage even to those that resist it.
    • Surf - Surf gives great coverage along with Meteor. It also keeps Ape and Heatran at bay.
    • Thunderbolt - Thunderbolt is a check against Gyarados that runs through this team.
    • Trick - Blissey, CroCune and CurseLax dont like this move.
    .....
    • Why this Pokemon?:

hello!

i like this team, but i do see some problems arising when facing certain playstyles, most notably stall teams. stall pretty much has its way with your team, as two of your pokemon are weak to stealth rock, and three of your pokemon take damage from spikes. your only real wallbreaker is infernape, but seeing as you are using infernape as your lead, it will generally be dead pretty early on in a match before it can really make its mark. in addition to all this, while encore does help you set up your salamence, it really only gives him about one turn to set up. from there on out he are still just as prone to revenge killing and priority moves as he had always been. this team is also lacking a resistance to rock type moves, which i can see being a pretty large issue in that you really will not have a way to reliably switch into choice band tyranitar's stone edge. choice band and dragon dance tyranitar are a pretty huge problem for this team in general, as most dragon dance tyranitar these days are packing babiri berry to lower the damage from bullet punch, so scizor is no longer a safe check. it can then sweep your team relatively easily with a boosted stone edge and crunch, with fire punch for scizor. a team that uses heavy pursuit users can also be a pretty big problem for your team, as choice scarf latias is the easiest pursuit bait in the entire game. without latias your team becomes prone to so many threats like dragon dance gyarados and dragon dance salamence that its not even funny (although scizor does help somewhat against ddmence). I can also see an adamant swords dance lucario being somewhat problimatic for your team to handle, though not as big of a concern as you have zapdos; eventually, however, stealth rock will wear zapdos down to the point where lucario can break past it.

other pokemon can also threaten this team in that they really dont fear attacks from the likes of zapdos and blissey, such as life orb jolteon and agility metagross, who can stat up all day long and then sweep your team relatively easily.

so heres what I would do: first off, try replacing blissey with a dual screens bronzong set. bronzong is a pretty fantastic pokemon on this type of team, as really it can relatively easily counter dragon dance tyranitar as well as beat dragon dance salamence if necessary. bronzong is also a pretty great pokemon as far as providing team support for your other pokemon goes, as with dual screens your team will be able to tank hits much more easily. bronzong's rock type resist and other resistances in general make him quite a suitable tank for your team. i'm really not seeing the need for blissey at the moment to be totally honest, as the only thing that she really brings to the table for your team is absurd special defense, which latias already has. this is just such an offensively natured team that blissey is totally out of place and will really just slow down your offensive momentum. anyway, bronzong. use a set of light screen | reflect | gyro ball | explosion, an ev spread of 252 hp | 152 atk | 8 def | 92 spd, a relaxed nature, and the item light clay (plus a speed iv of 0 and the ability levitate). explosion is useful as a last-ditch move to hit all sorts of pokemon like dragon dance gyarados that have gotten some stat boosts and are looking like a pretty threatening pokemon to take down; if youre looking to just cripple pokemon in general as well as cause switches and lay free screens, then hypnosis is probably the better option for you in the last moveslot. im also thinking that you may want to test out a swords dance lucario in scizors spot. my reasoning behind this is relatively simple: choice band scizor currently is just revenge killing for your team, as the fact that it causes switches doesnt help a lot when the only hazard you have down is stealth rock. cb scizor is generally one of those pokemon that you can slap onto any team and have it work, and while the same holds true for your team, there are pokemon that would fulfill its role better. there are two important things that lucario has going for it on your team over scizor: the ability to fully abuse latias's pursuit problems, and the ability to quite easily set up with support from bronzong's screens and infernape's encore. for lucario, use a set of swords dance | close combat | extremespeed | stone edge, an ev spread of 4 hp | 252 atk | 252 spe, and an adamant nature (with life orb as the item). swords dance lucario and dragon dance salamence together on the same team form a dangerous sweeper core, and can easily take care of most walls between the two of them. while bronzong's screens + two set up sweepers does somewhat resemble "heavy offense", really it is more of a balance team in my opinion at the moment.

as far as minor changes are concerned, if you chose to go with bronzong, then try a lum berry as the item on salamence as opposed to life orb. lum berry will allow salamence to secure more dragon dances then it would otherwise be able to, and is just more useful in general on a team with so many supporters and support moves.

hope i helped, and good luck with your team! ;)

I agree with Snorlaxe, a Basic Stall team (which I lubs me some stall) tears it apart, slowly. I would give your lead ape Grass Knot so it can take care of stall leads such as Swampert and Hippowdon. But it looks decent other than that.

While the above suggestions are valid, I suggest changing your DDMence to MixMence. It has a great ability to break stall.
Salamence @ Life Orb
Naive Nature
16 ATK, 252 SPE, 242 SPA
-Outrage
-Fire Blast
-Earthquake
-Draco Meteor
This helps you break stall with much more ease. Mence can hit very hard from both ends of the spectrum and would definately help your problem with stall. Otherwise, Snorlaxe said it all.
