OU "Horsing" [RMT]

What must a guy do to get his OU team RATED?!!!!!!!

A PURE OU TEAM
I need to work on my posts count to catch up to my Marriland account. So I decided to post my old Standard team as well. I thought, since it's Standard, might as well make it as standard as possible! This team racked up for me about 110 points in Marriland's Dour's Results Tourney. I think it's a solid team, but I wanted to hear your thoughts on it, since I have an even better team now. Here it is:

GLISCOR @ LEFTOVERS
Bag_Leftovers_Sprite.png

ABILITY: SAND VEIL
NATURE: JOLLY
EV'S: 204 HP/88 Atk/216 Spd
~ Taunt
~ Stealth Rocks
~ Roost
~ Earthquake

My most favorite lead in the OU metagame. It can outrun many of today's fast leads like Metagross. Taunt is to try to stop the foe from setting up. Focus Sash over Leftovers to survive a OHKO Ice Beam/Hydro Pump from Lead Empoleon and also to ensure survival from Exploding Azelf.

VAPOREON @ LEFTOVERS

ABILITY: WATER ABSORB
NATURE: BOLD
EV'S: 252 HP/252 Def/4 Spd
~ Protect
~ Wish
~ Surf
~ Hidden Power [Electric]

This set is used to wall the very huge Suicune weakness that I have, even though Suicune can PP Stall me.... Wish support for my team... Counters Heatran, Infernape, Gyarados, etc. Has great synergy with Gliscor...

TYRANITAR @ CHOICE BAND
Bag_Choice_Band_Sprite.png

ABILITY: SAND STREAM
NATURE: ADAMANT
EV'S: 76 HP/252 Atk/176 Spd/4 Spe
~ Pursuit
~ Crunch
~ Aqua Tail
~ Stone Edge

My favorite Blissey counter right after Blissey has been taunted by Gliscor. Pursuit her frail butt away to kingdom come. Same for Celebi and Azelf. Not so sure about Gengar since it almost always packs Focus Blast.

Most of my team resists Sandstorm, so that's good. Sand Veil hax on Gliscor pwns.

CELEBI @ LEFTOVERS
Bag_Leftovers_Sprite.png

ABILITY: NATURAL CURE
NATURE: MODEST
EV'S: 232 HP / 244 SpA / 32 Spe
~ Rest
~ Thunder Wave
~ Hidden Power [Fire]
~ Leaf Storm

This set is used to cripple Celebi's common counters like Heatran. I can send in my Heatran to gain some Flash Fire boost. Leaf Storm can OHKO Tyranitar with some Stealth Rocks up. Rest is used to fully heal HP, with the aid of Natural Cure.

Hidden Power [Fire] is for coverage along with Leaf Storm.

Leftovers over Life Orb to neutralize Tyranitar's Sand Stream damage. Life Orb+Sandstorm=quick Rest=quick time for Pursuiters= bad idea=death fodder=.... Well, you get the point....

HEATRAN @ SHUCA BERRY
Bag_Leftovers_Sprite.png

ABILITY: FLASH FIRE
NATURE: TIMID
EV'S: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
~ Explosion
~ Earth Power
~ Fire Blast
~ Hidden Power [Ice]

The first time I send out this beast, I try to make it look like ScarfTran: use Fire Blast while the foe switches out into a proper counter then switch away Heatran. The second time, my foe thinks it's still a ScarfTran, so he will switch back into his Tran counter. But this time, I know what that counter will be, and will plan accordingly.

In many battles, my opponent usually sends in Blissey instead of his own Tran since he fears Earth Power. I usually overpredict correctly the second time and switch in Tyranitar. Death fodder, baby!

Shuca Berry over Leftovers so that I can succeed in my ScarfTran bluff.

SCIZOR @ LEFTOVERS
Bag_Leftovers_Sprite.png

ABILITY: TECHNICIAN
NATURE: ADAMANT
EV'S: 252 HP/80 Atk/176 SpD
~ Roost
~ Swords Dance
~ Brick Break
~ Bullet Punch

What kind of Standard team DOESN'T have Scizor? If you noticed, the other 6 Pokemon were designed to counter most of Scizor's counters.

I use him mostly as a late-game sweeper. Once his counters are all gone or weakened, this little steel bee is unstoppable. 'Nuff said.

Possibly looking in replacing Scizor with Lucario... I have had no problem with Scizor, but I may consider a Bulky Shuca Lucario set (NOTE: this set does not exist on Smogon; only true battlers know its true potential!!! :D). Suggestions?

Firstly what I'm going to suggest is a more optimal Tyranitar spread to fully capitalize on Sand Storm, and to not be 2HKOed by Specs Latias surfs: 76 hp/252 atk/176 spdef/4 spe. Next, you should have Aqua Tail over Earthquake, so you can 2HKO Hippowdon and Gliscor, making it easier for your team to sweep. Thirdly, you have to have Leftovers on Gliscor, and Roost over either Taunt or U-turn. You need a way to take care of Lucario and Machamp, as well as opposing offensive threats. I think U-turn needs to go, because preventing Stealth Rock is good for any team, although the same can be said for Taunt as your team doesn't really mind Stealth Rock, and scouting can be beneficial, but, as previously mentioned you need Roost on Gliscor to become a capable wall.

On Celebi, Psychic does not provide much coverage against most of the threats that exist in the OU metagame. The metagame is riddled with various Steel-types that resist Psychic, making it a rather poor option. Most of the Pokemon you'll be trying to hit with Psychic super effectively such as Machamp are handled well by Leaf Storm and other memebers of your team, witch is why I suggest you use Hidden Power Fire over Psychic. With Hidden Power Fire, Celebi will be able to kill one if it's main switch-ins, Scizor. With Scizor gone, Tyranitar will be able to have an easier time dealing damage to your opponent without the fear of Scizor coming in and killing you/forcing you out. Hidden Power Fire also has the additional benefit of hitting opposing Celebi for super effective damage in addition to hitting various other Pokemon that resist the current Leaf Storm + Psychic combination you have such as Skarmory and Metagross. Overall, Hidden Power Fire will provide you with much more coverage then Leaf Storm + Psychic.

thanks guys. i changed it up and so far, its done better. now usually racking up 5-0 wins rather than the old 4-0.

*and a bump in disguise*

PLEASE RATE SOME MORE!

possibly a final bump before i let this thread die. i just want ppl to rate some more until it become ALMOST perfect.

Shuca Tran is much better than SubTran, as he can get surprise KO's just by bluffing a Scarf. Hopefully you keep Gliscor in reasonable health, or SD Lucario runs right over your team. Otherwise, very balanced, nice team. Btw, HP Electric from 0 SpA EV Vaporeon does about 65% to Bulky Gyarados, allowing him to Dragon Dance twice if the player is smart. Doubt it, as most will Taunt predicting a Toxic. Good luck on getting some 6-0's!

Edit: You may want to consider Lucario over Scizor, just a thought. No need to explain why, just give it a try and see why.
