When I first set out to make a stall team I decided I should start with my lead. I decided to get a good anti-lead. I didn't want a too common lead, but he had to be very effective. I chose Machamp, who can normally get around 1-2 KOs. Next I needed to get good walls, so I chose SkarmBliss, not much need for explanation there. Next I needed a wallbreaker. I started with Gligar, but I didn't like him. Instead I took a different approach, I used Umbreon as a Mean Look passer. Unusual, yet surprisingly effective. Next I needed a bulky wish passer, so I looked to another Eeveelution, Vaporeon. Lastly I needed a rapid spinner. I first looked to the OU rapid spinners, Tentacruel, Forretress and Starmie. I figured Forretress would work best because he can be a good wall as well, but he didn't work. Tentacruel didn't really work either, despite 120SpD. Starmie has been very good, providing boltbeam coverage I need as well as rapid spin.
My Team:
Machamp@Lum Berry
Nature: Adamant
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 240Hp, 248Atk, 16SpD, 4Spe
Moves:
DynamicPunch
Payback
Stone Edge
Bullet Punch
Machamp is a beast. 100% Accurate STAB DynamicPunch with 100% chance of confusion. Only what resists DynamicPunch can stop him, and even they have a hard time doing it. If you switch to a ghost I OHKO them with Payback. Against flyers I use a 100% accurate Stone Edge. Bullet Punch is there to get rid of focus sashes. He only has problems against Gliscor, which I can switch to Starmie with Ice Beam. EV's are set up so he is almost never OHKO'd, practically guaranteeing at least 1 KO, normally 2, and occasionally 3-4.
Skarmory@Leftovers
Nature: Impish
Ability: Keen Eye
EVs: 252Hp, 240Def, 16Spe
Moves:
Brave Bird
Roost
Spikes
Whirlwind
Skarmory is an awesome physical wall. He can switch in on nearly any physical attack, allowing for at absolute minimum one layer of spikes. He normally gets plenty of turns to set up spikes, then phaze through the opposing team dealing 25% damage to most of their pokemon. He can roost off any damage, and Brave Bird is there to deal damage. I use Leftovers over a shed shell because I do not see many Magnezone. If he was a bigger problem, I would, but I see no real need to.
Blissey@Leftovers
Nature: Bold
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252Hp, 252Def, 4SpD
Moves:
Aromatherapy
Softboiled
Toxic
Seismic Toss
Blissey is without a doubt the best Special Wall in the game. The Nature and EVs are an attempt to give it some Defense while maximizing its Hp at 714. I needed her to be a cleric, so she got aromatherapy. Softboiled for healing. Toxic is for stalling, which I find more effective than Thunder Wave. Seismic Toss is their for the most reliable way to deal damage.
Umbreon@Chople Berry
Nature: Careful
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252Hp, 128SpD, 128Spe
Moves:
Mean Look
Baton Pass
Sucker Punch
Taunt
Umbreon Baton Passes Mean Look with wish and taunt support. Very straightforward. For my item, Leftovers is nice, but the chople berry might be worth it, keeping him alive from superpowers, close combats, etc. If you have a better EV spread, please tell me. I'm thinking about switching Wish to an attack because I already have a wish passer, and he, like the rest of my team, is very weak to opposing taunters.
Vaporeon@Leftovers
Nature: Bold
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 248Hp, 244Def, 36SpD
Moves:
Wish
Protect
Surf
Roar
Vaporeon is my primary wish passer, as well as a solid phazer. Protect is needed to turn wish into a reliable healing move. Surf is the STAB, especially necessary because I don't have it on my Starmie. Since I win quite a few battles phazing the other team through spikes, another phazer is nice. EVs are set so Vaporeon is a mixed wall as well, making him a very reliable pokemon.
Starmie@Leftovers
Nature: Timid
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252Hp, 252Spd, 4Def
Moves:
Rapid Spin
Recover
Ice Beam
Thunderbolt
Rapid Spin for support. Recover for stay alive. BoltBeam for very necessary coverage. Thunderbolt mainly for gyarados, Ice Beam for Dragons/Gliscor. Natural Cure is useful if toxic spikes is down.
Please leave reasons for your recommended changes. I'm open to changing my team for the better, but I need a reason before I do anything.
