Hey guys, apologies for being late!

The voting phase is over! The winner of cycle 9 is CM + Taunt by Jhonx~. Congratulations! Your submission will be added to the Hall of Fame soon. Alright, now let's move on to the next cycle!

Cycle Ten - Rotom-Heat
:ss/rotom-heat:

Rotom-H has been the most prominent Rotom forme throughout the generation and for good reason, as its partial Fire typing allows it to check many prominent Pokemon such as Clefable, Corviknight, Aegislash, Ferrothorn, Jirachi, and Togekiss. Additionally, it has an excellent ability in Levitate, which patches up its 4x weakness to Ground-type moves. It functions as an offensive pivot with Volt Switch but can also become a wallbreaker through the use of Nasty Plot, not to mention the multiple forms of status it can spread and other utility moves it has access to. Let's see what you've got!

Rotom-Heat @ Ring Target
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Overheat
- Trick
- Eerie Impulse

Eerie Impulse + Trick Ring Target is actually legit stupid fun to use. Ring Target makes your volt switch godly by removing the ground immunities and disables threats like Seismitoads. Eerie Impulse lowers SpA and forces opposing mons out, making your volt switches even more potent! Give it a try I guarantee you will catch a lot of opponents off guard.

Rotom-Heat @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Overheat
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Toxic

Choice Specs- Rotom Heat is meant to be a strong special breaker in this case, breaking through pokémon such as choice band-dracovish, clefable, zeraora, mandibuzz and rotom wash. overheat and thunderbolt are the two main stabs whereas volt switch is its stab-option giving it important momentum. toxic can be used to cripple down pkmn it has trouble with such as seismitoad, gastrodon and kommo-o.
this set has a chance to 2hko dracovish, ohko zeraora, a slight chance to ko clefable with overheat into another overheat and this set is also able to 2hko rotom wash, which is shown in the calc underneath.

calcs:
252 SpA Choice Specs Rotom-Heat Thunderbolt vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Rotom-Wash: 180-213 (59.4 - 70.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Choice Specs Rotom-Heat Thunderbolt vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Dracovish: 229-270 (71.1 - 83.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Choice Specs Rotom-Heat Overheat vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Clefable: 211-250 (53.5 - 63.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
into
-1 252 SpA Choice Specs Rotom-Heat Overheat vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Clefable: 142-168 (36 - 42.6%) -- 94.6% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Choice Specs Rotom-Heat Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 160+ SpD Mandibuzz: 306-362 (72.1 - 85.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Rotom-Heat Overheat vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Zeraora: 328-387 (103.4 - 122%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Dual Screens Rotom-H (I'm the official dual screens spammer, but I think they are quite unexplored)

Rotom-Heat @ Light Clay
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Light Screen
- Overheat
- Volt Switch
- Reflect

General idea

Rotom-H can be a good Screener supporter thanks to the access of a STAB Volt Switch and a strong Fire-STAB move that is able to scare out Ferrothorn and other annoying Steel-type pokemons. I really like that Rotom-H can use the switch-outs in order to set-up a powerful field effect.
Overheat+Volt Switch is the bare minimum in order to keep some offensive presence.
Both Screens have some advantages when compared to WoW: perfect accuracy and Light Screen helps to cover the special side, while WoW not.
Despite the SR weakness, Rotom has enough bulk to complete its job as a pivot/supporter.

EVs (spread) and item

The EVs spread is a pretty basic bulky fast one and Light Clay extends the durability of both Reflect and Light Screen to 8 turns, which is really game changing because they provide you some extra turns.

Team(mates) support

A way to deal properly with Grouds is mandatory (in order to have a safe Volt Switch), as well as Defog/Rapid Spin support in order to get rid of Stealth Rocks. This Rotom helps proving a fastish Volt Switch to its teammates and/or Reflect/Light Screen to make the switch-ins soft. Be wary of an opposing Cinderace with its peculiar move Court Change. In general, this Rotom-H needs teammates because it isn't really self-sufficient.

Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Will-O-Wisp
- Discharge
- Hex

- Pain Split

this is pretty fun to use, it is basically double status along with Hex, Will-O-Wisp for basically making sure stuff like Zeraora dont be a complete nuisance and Discharge is cool for the 30% paralysis, basically the same chance as a Scald burn, so stuff that you dont need to hit with Hex like Mandibuzz, Corviknight or Toxapex can get hit pretty hard or simply force them to switch and the paralysis does wonders against Dragapult which can die to Hex afterwards, while Pain Split is just to preserve yourself longer against stuff like Ferrothorn and especially Clefable.

Confide Rotom Heat
:ss/rotom-heat:
Rotom-Heat @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 236 HP / 20 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Confide
- Volt Switch
- Toxic
- Pain Split / Overheat

Confide allows Rotom Heat to weaken special attackers such as Dragapult, Hydreigon and Togekiss while crippling them with Toxic. Rotom Heat is given a bulky spread to survive a few hits of attackers, while Pain Split is a necessity for Rotom Heat to recover. Overheat can also be used to hit Steel types. Of course, Rotom Heat is a pivotter so Volt Switch is its main role for doing so.

Specially Defensive Rotom-Heat. Volt Switch allows for a decently slow pivot and Will-O-Wisp cripples physical attacking pokemon. Pain Split to keep Rotom-Heat relatively healthy.

This thing hits like a freight train but it needs HEAVY heavy support from defog and wish.

Worth it ngl.

- Overheat
- Discharge / Volt Switch

Getting worn down by Toxic over the game? I sleep. Run out of Overheat PP? I sleep. Need to repeatedly switch into Clefable or Ferrothorn or whatever? I sleep. A lot of what this set accomplishes can be done with Wish Clefable support, but this set completely removes the need for that support. With its special bulk investment, it can pivot in on Kyurem, opposing Rotom-H, and special Aegislash a lot easier too. It is a lot more passive though, so the teammates will need to pick up the slack a little bit.

Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Rain Dance
- Volt Switch
- Overheat / Thunder
- Defog / Will-O-Wisp / Thunder Wave / Toxic / Pain Split

The main problems for rain teams are opposing Ferrothorns, An easily chipped setter with bad stats, and having to play around a lot of mons like zeroara. Rotom-Heat as a backup rain setter can be incredibly useful since it can be really hard to safely get Pelipper in on some teams because of his weaknesses and rotom can be a good lead mix up. The EVs can be pretty much anything but all that SpAtk lets Rotom OHKO phys def ferrothorn even in rain. You could use speed if you want a faster volt switch or put all the EVs into bulk. Rain dance and Volt switch are pretty much mandatory but the last two moves could honesty be anything. Overheat to kill ferro, Thunder to spam paralysis, Defog is good imo since rain teams usually don't have a good one but you could put any status move or pain split for longevity

just curious but why is the weather of your choice rain over sun? O: is the benefit of having 100% accurate thunder better than softening up potential water moves and having higher powered overheats? O:

He wouldn't really add anything to sun teams since they already have Cinderace & Torkoal for hazard control and I dont think Rotom would help with any of the weaknesses of sun like kommo-o

Pain Split Rotom-Heat

Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature

This is a spin on the standard Heavy-Duty Boots set and is used to pivot consistently rather than try to break things with Nasty Plot. Not too much to comment about it really, it plays similarly to the NP timbs set but pivots into breakers instead of doing the breaking itself, which allows it to play a more consistently defensive role by checking Clefable, Corviknight, and Kommo-o. Pain Split seems really unexplored on Rotom variants in general.

This one for the real ones who don't like the opponent having fun.

Swagger Foul Play Rotom

IVs: 0 Atk
- Swagger
- Foul Play
- Thunder Wave / Toxic
- Substitute / Volt Switch / Toxic

This set is pretty self explanatory, the idea is to fish for swagger self hitting into foul play or thunder wave if you are so inclined. I had to double check if this wasn't still banned, because it's pretty toxic. Speaking of Toxic, you have multiple options for the last two slots. While T Wave is nice to ensure maximum aids, on some teams toxic will be preferred for dealing with stall mons not named Clef. Volt Switch allows you to grab momentum if you know your opponent is going to switch out. I prefer Sub because it gives you the extra longevity to flex your swagger on all the haters.

I want to die

Is max speed still the go to on a pain split rotom H? I feel like there can be some advantages of both a slow pain split and slow volt switch.

There are definitely merits for running less speed. This spread is good for outrunning Kommo-o, Bisharp, banded Dracovish, fast Aegislash variants, etc and burning them before they get out of hand. However, max speed probably isn’t necessary for most teams. Thanks for pointing that out.

This is just a standard defog rotom. It can defog on hazard setters like ferrothorn. pain split allows it to sustain itself. volt switch lets it gain momentum for the team.
