Trick + eerie impulse by zbr

Rain Dance. I was hoping to see more trick sets used because Iron Ball and Eject Pack are legit sick sets to run on specifically heattom because of its nature of utilizing overheat and trick in tandem.

:ss/rotom-heat:

Sorry for the lateness folks, but here we are! The voting concludes right now, and by its results, the winner of the Cycle 10 is Trick + Eerie Impulse by zbr. Congratulations! Your submission will be added to the Hall of Fame soon. And let's move towards the next Cycle!

Cycle Eleven - Ferrothorn
:ss/ferrothorn:

Meet one of the strongest defensive and supportive forces for fourth gen in a row! Ferrothorn is granted with absolutely amazing natural bulk, great typing, and access to a wide variety of utility options - two kinds of hazards, Thunder Wave, Knock Off, Leech Seed, and so on. It isn't really passive as for a defensive Pokémon as well. So, we want you guys to utilize Ferrothorn's nice enough movepool on its fullest and show us some heat here!

Banned Sets
:leftovers:

The deadline is Sunday 29th of March. Good luck!

Curse Ferrothorn
:ss/ferrothorn:
Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 28 Atk / 124 Def / 100 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Curse
- Gyro Ball
- Power Whip / Knock Off / Body Press
- Leech Seed
Curse Ferrothorn is able to check many physical attackers such as Dracovish, Excadrill and Zeraora while dealing back hard damage with a STAB boosted Power Whip and Gyro Ball and is also able to chip the opponent's health with Iron Barbs. Leech Seed and Leftovers recovery are important for keeping Ferrothorn alive from hard-hitting physical attackers. Power Whip helps kill Hippowdon, Zeraora and non-haze variants of Toxapex. Gyro Ball synergizes well with Ferrothorn's low speed and helps kill fairy types such as Hatterene, Clefable, Sylveon, Togekiss, etc. Knock Off is an option for OHKOing Aegislash and fire types such as Cinderace as well as getting rid of items from Pokemon such as Choice Band Dracovish. Ferrothorn struggles with special attackers from Pokemon such as LO Clefable, Dragapult, etc. so it needs support from its teammates in order to function as a late-game cleaner. Body Press is also another option that hits hard with Ferrothorn's high defense and is used to hit steel types such as Bisharp and Corviknight.

Ferrothorn @ Choice Band
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 232 HP / 252 Atk / 24 Def
Adamant Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Power Whip
- Gyro Ball
- Knock Off
- Body Press

choice band ferrothorn functions like a lure to different pkmn in the current metagame and has a chance to pick them off by surprise with
body press having a chance to ohkoing a multitude of pkmn and knock off has the same effect. it can break through a lot of threats and can open
the door for its teammates with heavily damaging a good amount of pkmn in the ou-tier.

calcs:
24 Def Choice Band Ferrothorn Body Press vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Hydreigon: 242-286 (74.4 - 88%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Ferrothorn @ Focus Sash
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Spikes / Stealth Rock
- Thunder Wave / Stealth Rock
- Explosion
- Endeavor

It's a good suicide lead, with endeavor you can bring excadrill down with you. You could invest into defense or spdef if u plan on eating atleast a few hits but that probably wont happen too often if ur opponent has a strong fighting or fire type. Can usually get up a few hazards or a paralysis which is nice and iron barbs is actually good at defending against spin so good for keeping up hazards. Not too much to say, its just like other suicide leads but with spikes and potentially better movepool.

Iron Defense

Careful Nature

- Power Whip / Body Press

- Leech Seed

Alrighty so since Ferro does not really have that much to work with, I decided to come up with this, Iron Defense makes Ferro an absolute defensive juggernaut while still having the same amount of defensive utility with Spikes, making it great for being the usual Spikes setter, Leech Seed nice for recovery while also chipping away at the opponents, especially Pokemon that it generally struggles with such as Corviknight, and after an Iron Defense its generally able to consistently handle threats such as Zeraora and have more favourable matchups against stuff like Terrakion.

Ferrothorn: The Kommo-o edition

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 208 Def / 48 SpD
Impish Nature
- Body Press
- Knock Off
- Iron Defense
- Stealth Rock / Spikes / Leech Seed

I'd have liked to do something more interesting but ferro really has no real options that aren't just the fat set with a different move, so here's discount kommo o. This intends to abuse the iron defense + body press combo. Knock stops this set being completely ghost walled, while the final slot can be used for hazards or to help ferro actually not just die by getting some leech seed recovery. The EVs let it take a +2 LO dark pulse from hydra while keeping as much physical bulk as possible because you don't really beat the other special stuff even if you invest.

Your submission is too similar to f is for frens's. You should alter it to make it more unique; otherwise, it will not be considered in the voting phase.

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Substitute
- Swords Dance
- Knock Off
- Gyro Ball

The world is changing once again Smogon

I got two sets that could be used cause I used them both but I think since I can only submit one set, I'll submit the crazier one.

Ferrothorn @ Air Balloon
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 208 Def / 48 SpD
IVs: 0 Spe
Impish Nature
- Magnet Rise
- Body Press
- Gyro Ball
- Stealth Rock / Spikes / Leech Seed

Initially I used this set earlier solely to tackle mons whose primary way of dealing with Ferro was to set up SD then click EQ (i.e - Excadrill, Lando-T, Gliscor). With the ubiquity of Knock Off and Ferro's tanking prowess, he'd often be sent in to tank a knock off, rendering his item pointless so I just wanted to try something that had a one time use on this mon. This set allowed Ferro to get up hazards and predictably force out the opposing mon because body press allows you to threaten opposing Drills and steel types that don't have fire coverage to bypass Magrise.

Toxic + Bulldoze Ferrothorn

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Toxic
- Body Press
- Knock Off
- Bulldoze

General idea

I really like to have Toxic on the moveset because this status is the bane of the bulky pokemons with no ways to get rid of it. Steel-type pokemons are immune to this move, but they are caught in trap by Bulldoze, a nice support move that leaves the target with a useful -1 Spe. This means that you can switch out and leave the job to revenge kill the opponent to one of your teammates.
Knock Off is also another utility move, not really meant to deal damage but to remove one or two items every match.
Body Press is really a key move because it checks the Def and not the Atk stat when it deals damage. It allows us to invest EVs in bulk only.

Keep in mind that this Ferrothorn is meant mainly for support, aside from the high damage output from Body Press, really a blessing upon this pokemon. This means that burn ruins the utility of "only" Body Press.

EVs (spread) and item

The EVs spread and the item is stolen from the dex.

Team(mates) support

Ferrothorn "only" aids the teammates to sweep with more ease, so it is mandatory to have at least one or two left.
